A dark and twisty thriller that kept me hooked. There were some predictable aspects but the book kept me guessing and invested until the end.

Thank you to netgalley for an advanced copy, all opinions are my own.

This is a fast pace thriller that kept me on my seat the entire time. I love Freida McFadden books and this one didn't disappoint. Thank you NetGalley and Hollywood Upstairs Press for allowing me to read this ARC.

One by One fell a little flat for a Freida McFadden's book. The character development is not what I would like to see. The protagonist was not that likable. With that said it was still a quick and easy read there is a place for those in your to-be-read pile. It wasn't a book that was hard to pick up. There were still parts that made me cringe when it came to internal dialog and character development, I feel the other characters could have been developed a little more and not so straightforward in the development. I still enjoyed the book. It still had the plot twist that McFadden is known for. There is room to improve the characters but I didn't have a hard time finishing this book.

I haven’t found a book Freida has written that I didn’t like. She really keeps you on your toes throughout the entire story, and just when you think you have it all figured out … you don’t. I really enjoyed this quick read, and will be suggesting it to others.

"One by One" by Freida offers a suspenseful narrative, weaving together elements of mystery and intrigue. The plot follows a group of individuals trapped in a remote chalet, where tensions rise as secrets are revealed and suspicion mounts. Freida’s skillful storytelling keeps readers engaged until the final page, making it a compelling read for fans of the thriller genre.

Frieda does it again. Kept me on the edge of my seat. A short fast read with a good twist, I would highly recommend this one!
Thank you to NetGalley for the opportunity to review this book

This book didn't capture me as much as I hoped it would. I became very annoyed with the main character, BUT I really wanted to know what was going to happen and I wasn't disappointed in the end. Freida always keeps us on our toes!

I guessed half of it and like I was right about most of the stuff, you can't trick a girl who overthinks 24/7. and the ONE main thing I couldn't guess was because I'm such a sympathetic person I cannot💀

I still dislike all the characters and idc if they had development or not or whatsoever, they are just mean and immature and I always say this and I will say it again, NOTHING excuses cheating, EVER. idc if u then bring the moon or the stars to me, I will never forgive cheating, no matter what genre🤷🏻‍♀️

The writing was easy to read tho and I would love to try her other books but I hope the characters are better than whatever was this💀

would I recommend it?? idk if you are not bothered by character's personalities or your mind isn't coming up w theories like every other chapter (bec I ended up being correct like every time except one😭in which I was shocked so thats it)

I would've loved to say that I'm out of the slump but this was such a short book so idk😔

thanks to netgalley and the publisher for the arc

On the plane ride home from Disney I picked up One by One by Freida McFadden thanks to @netgalley and @poisonedpenpress ! It is a new release that came out on April 2nd, which means you can get your hands on it now if you haven’t already!

This book follows Claire as she is going away with her husband and their other couple friends on an annual trip they take together. Claire and her husband have been rocky and this trip can either make or break them. On the way there the mini van breaks down and strands them all on a remote dirt road. They get lost and suddenly things begin happening to them one by one. Will they be able to get out of these woods alive?

❤️Review❤️

I was pretty much able to finish all but 20 pages of this in a single plane ride, which I think says a lot considering I was flying in between two toddlers. Freida’s books are the perfect popcorn read that are easy to get through. We mostly hear from Claire and then we also get chapters from an anonymous character. I’d say her books are perfect to readers who are new to the genre, someone who needs a palette cleanser between reads, or a quick read to pick up. As someone who reads And Then There Were None style books all of the time, I was able to predict the big twist kind of early on. However those who aren’t used to this genre, I can see the twist being shocking for them. This book basically gave me everything I was expecting it to going into it. Fun, quick, and easy to read that will keep you flipping pages until the very last page!

3 stars! ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Absurd plot & messy writing. Nothing quite adds up. I only finished it to know the ending.

Will I pick up another book by this author?
Maybe not.

First a huge thank you to NetGalley for sending over this arc.

One by One by Freida McFadden is psychologically thriller that follows a group of friends who are catching by spending a week away at a remote location. Suddenly things don’t go as plan and people in the group start disappearing one by one.

This story follows to povs, Claire and anonymous. This story is very short and fast paced and definitely keeps you wondering about what’s going on as everyone could be a suspect to the crime. I was very intrigued on how we got the anonymous back story and how it ended up making sense at the end. I will admit the sorry a felt a tad bit repetitive with the way the people in the group was disappearing and I wish we could gotten a different scene. The story is pretty straightforward no major plow twist. Overall it was well written, fast paced psychological thriller.

I would put this at 4 stars!

The ending is what bumped it up from 3.5 stars to 4 stars for me. Honestly, it was hard to root for any of the characters in this book. Luckily because this is a quick read, that didn’t bother me too much.

The twist was fun but felt a little unrealistic. Halfway through the story it seemed like most of the characters had complete changes to their personalities. It felt a little inconsistent with those personalities as well as some odd decision making.

Overall, an easy fun read! I was able to sit down and read this all in an evening, which was nice. I’d be open to reading more from this author.

🖤🖤Book Review🖤🖤
One by One by @fmcfaddenauthor

This book sucked me in from the first page and had me guessing until the very end. So good! Claire and her husband go on a get away with 2 other couples and one by one they begin to drop. Getting lost in the woods everything seems to start going wrong. Accusations, an an affair, and a wild twist makes this a must read. I love how you get flashbacks from the killer. Freida does it again with an amazing binge worthy psychological thriller. 5 out of 5 stars 🌟

This book immediately went into the drama. I loved that it kept you guessing “who done it”. You think you’d have it figured out, something else would happen, think you have it figured out - round and round you go. I can definitely say that I did not figure it out until it was all laid out in front of me. Even until the last paragraph, you were still finding out what truly happened. I really enjoyed the characters and the plot. It’s not really like anything I’ve read before by Frieda, which was a nice change. For that reason, it’s probably my favorite book by her. Thanks to Netgalley for sending me a copy to read!!

Not my favorite book by Freida but it was a quick and easy read. It just felt like something was missing. The twist was unexpected in true FM fashion and it was definitely a page turner as I finished it in one day.

OH MY GOD. This is my favorite book that Freida has written, to date. It was the most UNEXPECTED plot twist. I seriously still cannot believe it.

The idea of having the anonymous POV was my most favorite. You kept thinking you knew who it was but you found out right at the very end.

Plot was a solid 10 for me.
Twist was also a 10.
There was a happy ending.
Re-found family.
Backstabbing.

Ugh. I loved it. Bravo.

Thank you to NetGalley, the publishing house, and the author for an opportunity to read a complimentary copy of this book in return for a review, based upon my honest opinion

This author writes a ton of thrillers. They’re all fun quick reads with lots of surprises and twists some you see and some you definitely don’t.

In this book, we follow six people, three couples who go on a vacation together in a cabin in the woods. The book is narrated by Claire who is with her husband, Noah, her best friend, Lindsey, and her new beau, Warner, as well as Noah’s best friend, Jack and his wife, Michelle. There are occasional chapters which are also narrated by anonymous. We are told right from the get-go that only one person is planning on leaving from this little trip. As the couples get lost, they get scared as the bodies start to drop very early in the story.
Finding out who the killer is as well as the reasoning, was a fun read. It was enjoyable and the final few twists. I really didn’t see coming. I Look forward to many more fun books by Freida McFadden.

I am sorry, but this a one star for me
I think this book needs heavy editing and reconstructing
It is full of errors and mistakes
but putting that aside, the plot holes and unreasonable storyline was a big let down
The story diregarded every logical aspect and through away every accepted outcome for the sake of Shock Factor
The reasoning for the crime did not make any sense

This one was super fast paced and I did not see the twist coming. And the extra twist! Definitely flew through this one!

4.5 stars
Super fun, very quick read.
I loved how fast paced it was- It felt a bit shorter than some of her others, but it was a great length.
I read it in one setting which is always incredibly satisfying when you're reading a thriller & just want to know what happens next.
I always love Freida and this was no exception.
