Claire, her husband, and two other couples book a vacation together. On the way to their hotel, Claire's minivan breaks down in the woods. With no cell reception and no one in sight, they decide to hike the rest of the way to the hotel. But, when the map and compass leave them going around in circles, they have to admit the fact that they are lost. As they try to find their way to the hotel, one by one, their group starts getting smaller and smaller. Who or what is responsible for their disappearing friends?

One by One is another fun and unputdownable popcorn thriller by Freida. Each chapter gives you a little more information to hook you and you can't help but want to finish it in one sitting. I loved the isolated wood scene and the one by one trope. I did not predict the ending at all. However, I did find it a little random and overdramatic. The ending leaves you wondering why such drastic means were taken for such a small situation. But it sure was entertaining!
Congratulations to Freida on the publication of One by One with Poisoned Pen Press!! Thank you NetGalley, Poisoned Pen Press, and Freida McFadden for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This was an easy, fast-paced read (aka popcorn thriller). It definitely kept me guessing until the very end (even if the way in which the ending tied everything up was a bit unbelievable - it still added to the popcorn thriller vibes). Recommended for any Freida fans :)

I’m here to say, right now, that I find it almost impossible for @fmcfaddenauthor to write a bad book. This is the fifth book of hers that I have read and wow. I finished this book in about 2.5 hours.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

(Thank you, @netgalley!!)

There were multiple times I thought I knew what was going on and what was happening. I was wrong every time.

The way Freida writes is so good. And she keeps you in suspense every single time.

I will endlessly endorse her and if it were possible to give more than five stars, I would. If you even remotely like thrillers, Freida McFadden is absolutely the way to go!!

The story centers around three couples—Claire and Noah, Jack and Michelle, and Lindsey and Warner—who seek solace in an isolated inn, only for their retreat to quickly spiral into a harrowing tale of survival. Their journey begins with a seemingly minor mishap as their car breaks down, forcing them to tread through the dense forest with minimal supplies and a rifle, setting the stage for the impending ordeal. The dynamics among the group are fraught with tension, notably the illicit affair between Claire and Jack, which casts a shadow of mistrust and betrayal. While reading, I kept thinking “who will make it out alive?” This was an easy and short read, but lacked the usual character development and suspense that Freida generally delivers.

Typical popcorn thriller by Fried McFadden. As always it kept me hooked and couldn't put it down. However, some of the "clues" and "motives" were absurd and far-fetched.

WoW One by One by Freida McFadden was so good I was hooked from the beginning till the very end and ended up reading it all night, it was so hard to put down. Freida's latest book was cleverly written and will have you guessing till the end who would survive and who will return home after their mini break.

Claire Matchett is married to Noah, and a busy mum of two she so needs a break from her stressful work life and is looking forward spending time away; but dreading spending time with her husband Noah, as they have drifted apart. But the thought of spending time with some of their friends for a week - breathing in fresh air, hiking, hot tubs and drinking wine etc is something to look forward to, it sounds like heaven.

Claire’s mini van breaks down on a lonely dirt road. Everyone looks at their mobiles to phone for help.........OMG there's no cell reception! The group have no choice but to leave their luggage behind and hike the rest of the way to their hotel. The sun set is only a few hours away and the woods aren’t as easy to navigate as they thought.

Hours later, they are lost. Hopelessly lost.

They all have no choice but to spend a night sleeping on dirt and leaves. This is not how Claire Matchett expected to start her vacation.

As they navigate deeper into the woods, the members of their party are struck down mysteriously one by one.

Has a wild animal been hunting them?

Or is the hunter one of them?

Now, running out of food and on their last drops of water are they going to survive the woods and find the hotel, Before some else dies?

But as more time passes, one thing becomes clear:

Only one of them will return home alive.

WoW......I loved this book and highly recommend it.

ARC Review! Thank you NetGalley and Poisoned Pen Press!

3.5 stars as I'm still gathering my thoughts about this one.

Claire and Noah are in a rut in their marriage and they are taking a week long trip in Colorado with their friends to get away for a bit for some R&R. Claire clearly wants to spend her vacation away from Noah to get a break from their constant bickering and hostility.
After they pick up their friends (Michelle & Jack, Lindsey and Warner) for the four hour drive, their car breaks down in the middle of no where and they are forced to get out and walk through the woods to try and find the resort they are staying in.

With no cell service, the knowledge on an old boycott (Jack) and his trust compass, and a printed map from Warner, they are on their own.

Strange things start happening in the woods, and One by One, they are getting picked off. But by what?

With secrets, lies, revenge you can trust no one.

Although I enjoyed this quick read with short and easy chapters, the ending and motive was weak. I feel like it couldn't have went different ways that would have made for a better and more satisfying ending, but this is just my opinion!

Three couples decide to take a week trip to a beautiful hotel in the woods. What sounded like bliss quickly turns into a disaster.

Claire’s minivan used to bring the couples breaks down in a spot with no cell service. They also have no idea where they are or how to get to the hotel. Once they decide to start walking, one by one they begin to disappear.

This is classic McFadden and a very exciting ride. Buckle up!!

Another great Freida book. She’s one of my favorite authors and one of my automatic reads when she comes out with something new. I always think I have the twist guess but I rarely do. Highly recommended. Thank you net galley for this arc.

This story had me on the edge of my seat!

Claire, her husband Noah, and 4 of their friends go on a week long trip in the woods. Claire is looking forward to this trip as some time away to relax, but someone else has other plans for them. The group is left stranded in the woods, trying to find their way out.

I loved the setting of this story - in the woods, mysterious noises and no hotel in sight. As their group wanders and their number dwindles, the quickness that people turn on each other was definitely eyebrow raising. I loved the twists and how each person had secrets that made you give them strong side-eye. I'm working my way through McFadden's books and this one did not disappoint!!!

Thank you to NetGalley and Poisoned Pen Press for the digital copy. All opinions are my own.

Thank you so much to Poisoned Pen Press and NetGalley for the digital copy of this novel.
This was my first experience reading Freida McFadden and I will confirm the hype is well earned.
This was a very quick and engrossing read, I was immediately hooked.
The twist at the end was one I actually didn’t see coming.
This was a fast paced, but well thought out plot.
I will definitely be reading more from this author!

Thank you NetGalley . I was so excited to be able to read this. I think this could have been shorter. There was a lot of boring parts but it was a good quick read. The twist with anonymous was really good. I enjoyed it

Awesome. The first rule of Freida is no, you haven’t figured it out half way through! This one had me guessing throughout the entire book! Thank you NetGalley for this arc

I finished the book in roughly 3 hours, I loved it THAT much.

I love that there were a lot of twist and turns in it so just as you think you know whats going on, the next chapter acts like you're right, right before throwing in a twist that you didn't expect and changing everything you thought about it.

I love that Freida's books are always a quick good read, and this one was no exception at all.

Absolutely loved this suspense thriller. Enough guessing as to what at is going on and finding yourself completely wrong to make you “needing” to read y til you e figured it out. But in true Freida style, the twist. An go on until the final pages,

I love Frieda McFadden. Of course I couldn’t guess who the anonymous person was. I assumed it was Noah or Jack. At one point I thought it was Michelle. This book will have you guessing One by One who could be the anonymous character. This was not my favorite book so I’m giving it a four star review.
Thank you to NetGalley and Hollywood Upstairs Press for the arc so I could give my honest review.

The good thing about this book, it was a very fast read. I did do a lot of eye rolling at the same things being said over and over. We get it you hate your husband and what's her name is perfect and the boyfriend is great looking. I found a few errors in plot that annoyed me....
All in all, it was just ok. The storyline could have been great, it just wasn't put together great. Too many holes.
Thank to netgalley, poisoned press and the author for the chance to read this advanced copy.

I just finished One by One by Freida McFadden. Now Freida, she always knows how to keep you on your toes with these twisty stories of hers. This one wasn't quite as edge of your seat as some of her other books, but it was still a fun thriller ride. The title kind of gives a glimpse into the storyline. I don't want to give anything away so you'll just have to read it yourself to see how everything plays out. If you're already a fan of Freida, I'd say it's definitely worth a read

I read this last year but when the opportunity arose to read it again, I just had to! I love all of @fmcfaddenauthors books so much! I loved trying to figure out what’s going on and who is behind it! Freida is really good as tricking you into thinking you’ve figured it all out just to realize, NOPE! You don’t know everything! I will forever recommend all of her books to everyone!!!
