My god. She is the queen of psychological
Twisters and ever being able to figure out who is doing what. I could not stop reading this. The walking in circles, random disappearances and overall suspense had me spinning.

DNFing this one so bad. made it 40% and I was over claire being redundant about her kids, how unhappy she was and how handsome Warner was. We get it. Also something big happens at the beginning and the entire groupd expect Claire acted like it was nog big deal, meh happens all the time type of emotion? Like what no and then they convince her it's fine? I would have left the group right then and there. Adios. I thought this was going to be scary but it was literally just them being lost in the woods for like ever after their car broke down. I usually love a good Freida McFadden thriller but this was meh for me.
Thank you netgalley for the eARC.

"One by One" by Freida McFadden is a gripping psychological thriller that keeps you on the edge of your seat with its unpredictable twists. The suspense builds steadily as each character's secrets unravel, leading to a chilling and satisfying conclusion. McFadden's skillful pacing and tension-filled narrative make this a must-read for fans of dark, suspenseful stories.

I enjoyed this take on Agatha Christie's "And Then There Were None." Set in the woods on the way to a vacation, everything that can go wrong, does go wrong. Along with dealing with the elements, secrets of the group are also revealed--but who will be left? This is a quick, entertaining read. Nothing too serious, just clean fun!

Six friends head out on a getaway into the woods at a cabin. How many will come back? From the get-go, we see that Claire is unhappy in her marriage; her husband drives her nuts. So this trip should hopefully bring her and their husband out of the funk that they have going on, and just maybe, they can get back to how they were before. We should all know by now how this is going to go. Someone has an agenda, and those on this trip are going to have time to remember. Each couple has something to hide, and what comes to light will leave you giving the side eye. Getting lost in the woods, trying to find their way, and getting hurt could be some death happening. You know, the normal Claire has her work cut out for her if she wants to see her children again, but who is this anonymous person that we are getting a POV from? Go on and jump in, see if you can guess who is behind it all.

I am working on reading all book by of Freida McFadden and like the rest of her this one did not disappoint! Twists that kept coming.

Claire needs a vacation and escape, but when her car breaks down en route to the luxe vacation, she and the others decide to venture on foot to reach their destination. As they travel deeper into the woods, one by one tragedy befalls them. This dark twisty novel is a page turner and Frieda McFadden is absolutely the queen of genre. Move over Agatha--Frieda is on top now!

It is not the first book I’ve read from this author. From the first page, I knew that it would be like the others: a married couple who hate each other and themselves, the protagonist who « has-a-big-secret-she-cant-tell-her-husband-about » and that hates everyone secretly including herself. Frankly, I personally would love seeing more diverse characters. So unfortunately, I stopped reading at the fourth chapter, I couldn’t take anymore of the « I hate my husband ». If you liked Freida’s others books, then you’ll like this one.

I feel like the more Freida McFadden books I read, the less I enjoy them.
This one was centered around a group of strangers trapped in an isolated location during a snowstorm, each with their own secrets to be revealed. As the tension rises, they start being eliminated one by one, driving everyone into a state of paranoia and a frantic struggle for survival.
The. main character Claire just can't find enough excuses for her cheating husband., Vance, who is very quiet yet observant, Nina, who I couldn't understand with all her secrets, and I can go on. One of them is a murderer, and yes I kept guessing through the end, but I just couldn't deal with the characters. They didn't have enough depth for me.
There is a tense confrontation by the end, and the motives are revealed. However, if you can deal with the character's motives and reasonings behind everything, then this one might be the one for you. As for me, it was one I didn't need to read.

This book took me on a rollercoaster of emotions with a twist that completely blindsided me! Miss Freida never fails to surprise her readers. Throughout the story, I was led down the wrong path, only to be shocked by the unexpected turn of events. The journey to the twist was a bit chaotic and confusing, but it all came together in the end with a dramatic mic drop moment that left me speechless. Once again, Freida's storytelling prowess has left me in awe.

Freida McFadden truly is the queen of writing quick, bingeable, and addicting popcorn thrillers. I read One By One when it was first published, and while it wasn't my favorite of hers, it kept me entertained enough to binge it within two days.
I enjoyed the alternating POVs and the whole time I was wondering if someone was an unreliable narrator, as we've seen in some of Freida's other books. I felt like it was a mix of murder mystery, a "whodunnit" but then also just a bingeable thriller.
However, one big thing that made me drop a few stars was the characters, I didn't like them from the beginning and it was hard to care too much about them and what happened to them. I wasn't emotionally invested in the story.
Overall, not my favorite, but still worth the read when you want something quick and easy!

While this one went off the rails a bit, I was entertained throughout the book. Freida McFadden's books are always the type of popcorn thrillers that keep me flipping pages, and this one was no exception.

3.5/5
This book was really enjoyable, but it was predictable. I knew exactly what was happening as soon as someone "died" in the book. But it was so quick paced and fun that I kept reading anyway. It reminds me of the scream movies where the characters run up the stairs when people are running after them. They did all the wrong things. Kinda funny honestly.

classic Freida Mcfadden! she knows how to keep a reader’s interest. Although there were several characters i did not like profusely as much as I hate to say it, the suspense kept me on my toes and the plot twist left me gasping! i want to read freida mcfadden’s shopping list now

I really wanted to like this one but it just felt so unrealistic. I didn't care much for any of the characters and the terrible lies they all told. They made terrible decisions. There was one good twist but overall I didn't really enjoy this.

This was exciting and unexpected! I tried really hard to figure things out but was still surprised by the twists!

This book is a classic Freida McFadden, and I don’t mean that as a compliment. Once again, it’s a completely forgettable read. The characters? Developed just enough to keep the plot moving, but nothing more. I forgot them the moment I finished the book. The unhinged personalities and relationship dynamics were just enough to serve the plot, and that’s about it. There was a tiny glimpse into one character’s background, but with the pace this author churns out books, who has time for depth, right? Very meh. But will I read another one of her novels? Sigh, probably.

McFadden does it again. The story, the characters, the twists. Immediately engaging. Easily a book to finish in one sitting

One by One follows the story of six friends: Claire, Noah, Michelle, Jack, Lindsay and Warner, who are going on holiday to an inn in the woods. The group are all travelling together in Claire's minivan which breaks down leaving them to carry on, on foot to reach the inn. The group become lost in the wilderness and begin to get taken out one by one.
This is the fifth Freida McFadden book I have read and as always with her books, it was quick to fly through (I read the entire book in less than 24 hours) and very easy to read. The premise, although fairly unoriginal, was still fun and I enjoyed the build up of tension each time a member of the group would go off on their own or disappear. I thought that the anonymous chapters written by the killer were done really well as it cast doubt on a different character each time and keeps you guessing. I enjoyed the plot twist at the end and definitely didn't see it coming.
The reason I didn't give this book 5 stars is due to the characters as they all seemed to only have one defining personality trait for example Michelle was always working or talking about work and Claire loves her children. I wish the characters had been more fleshed out and realistic as I found it hard to connect to these caricatures so felt very little when they were killed off.
Overall this was an entertaining, fast-paced read and the perfect book to get me out of my reading slump.

I really enjoyed this book. This is my first Freida McFadden book and I’m excited to read more of her books. I read this in one sitting and didn’t want to put it down. I thought the ending was unexpected, which made it better. I definitely recommend this book to another who wants to read a short thriller book!
