This talented author has written a page turner. I read until late in the night. Six friends take a trip...who will come home alive? Three couples whose live are intertwined. Trying to discern the voice of Anonymous plus the ending...not easily accomplished. The intrigue kept me reading. Although this is a common theme, of late, friends traveling...dying...others returning home...this one was somewhat unique in that the reader is never sure if one died...where are the bodies? This is a cannot put down novel that would make a really great television movie. Thanks Netgalley.

Absolutely brilliant, loved it. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for allowing me an advance copy, I will definitely be recommending.

ONE BY ONE, Freida McFadden
This is the story of six friends heading to a big cabin in the woods for a relaxing week-long getaway. The group includes Claire and Noah (who met in college, have kids and marital problems), Lindsey (Claire’s best friend) who has just met Warner, and Jack (Noah’s best friend) and wife Michelle (divorce lawyer). When Claire’s minivan breaks down on a lonely road about two miles from the hotel, and with no cell phone reception, they decide to hike to their destination. Soon they find themselves lost in the woods, and members disappearing one by one.
The chapters alternate between Claire and “Anonymous”. What initially seemed like a straightforward journey takes unexpected turns, revealing "Anonymous" as the source of trouble. The friends were a little on the dumb side when it came to basic survival, but it could just be because they have never been out of the city and were ill-prepared.
This was a quick, fun read - never short on twists, turns, lies, or secrets - with a bit of revenge tossed in.
My thanks to Netgalley and Poisoned Pen Press for a free advanced copy of this e-ARC in exchange for an honest review!

Freida does it again!! This is a dark, twisty tale of revenge and betrayal gone wrong. A group of friends find themselves stranded in the woods. Suddenly they realize they are being picked off one by one! Terrifying and completely unpredictable. The shocking twist at the end was a made for tv moment and everything tied together nicely. One of my favorite Freida's so far. Multiple POVs with an unreliable narrator makes for a good time with this Freida thriller. Highly recommend!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. This was your classic page turning, can’t put down mystery/thriller (I literally read this in 1 day 😅). A group of characters is going on a vacation and gets lost in the woods. Strange things start happening and tensions rise. This kept me guessing throughout and I didn’t really see the end coming. The book also had an anonymous point of view that kept you guessing. Overall I enjoyed this book.

In true Frieda fashion, I was left utterly astounded and shocked by the twists and turn of events that happened all throughout this book. Compared to her precious works, it was a little slow to start, which is why I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars, but once the action started, it did.not.stop! I was truly kept on my toes and on the edge of my seat. There was no way I could have guessed the twist that Frieda threw at us but then again, it wouldn't be a true Frieda McFadden book if I could. I was not disappointed in the least!

Three couples set off on what they think will be a relaxing vacation and a chance to get away from kids and all the stresses of work. However, when their minivan breaks down and they find themselves on a deserted and lonely road with no cell reception- they have no choice but to hike their way to the hotel. Unfortunately, the trek becomes dangerous and whether by bad luck, coincidence, or something far more sinister, it becomes evident they won’t all make it out alive.
Awwwww the nostalgia with this one! This was my very first Freida McFadden, which started me off on a journey of all things psychological thriller. This was the one that turned me into a total McFan for sure! Full of unreliable characters, plot twists, and that signature biting humor I’ve come to love with each and every one of her books.

I can always rely on Frieda McFadden to help me out of my reading slumps! I really enjoy her writing style, quick chapters, easy reading, and all of the twists and turns that keep me from wanting to put the book down. This one was no different, and it definitely didn't disappoint!

Thank you to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for the opportunity to read an e-arc copy of this book.

Six friends decide to take a much needed week away. Except they may be packing more than just toiletries and clothes. In fact, a few of the friends may be bringing some additional baggage with them as well. But it’s not like secrets ever hurt anyone. Right? 🙃
I mean, how awful would it be if say, hypothetically…their car, carrying all six people, broke down. No cell service can be found anywhere and they get lost in the woods. But, hypothetically, they’d be fineeeeee! They’d all be together! It’s not like one by one they’d start dying! Secrets can’t hurt anyone! You’ll see…🫣
Freida McFadden and thrillers just work. They’re always a fun time and once I start it, I’m not stopping until the last page is read.
One of the things I loved most about this book was having two povs but one of them is anonymous! I had way too much fun trying to figure out who it was and do not even get me started on that ending! 😱
This book is a trip and I highly recommend you grab a copy and read it. But preferably not in a car with five other people or in the middle of the woods. Check your phone for cell service before you start too!
Thank you NetGalley and Poisoned Pen Press for an arc of this book. All opinions are my own.

I really like this book. I thought I knew how it was going to end the whole time and was disappointed I wouldn’t like it. The twist totally threw me off and I love that. It was a quick easy read, I knocked this book out in just a couple of hours.

Thank you NetGalley for this ARC!
I think this is a classic psychological thriller. I loved that you never knew if the main narration was coming from a skewed POV or not. I did guess a couple parts of the ending but I still enjoyed this novel and would recommend it.

The story circles around 6 friends go on vacation together in the wilderness, but the trip starts to go astray. The chapters consist of mainly Clair’s POV and then an Anonymous POV sprinkled in.
I was fully embedded in this storyline the whole time. This is my second Freida McFadden book and I love her writing style. I am still left with some questions though.
Side Note from the storyline: I got to say I hate Warner he is so negative the whole time. The PLOT TWIST was SO good!
Thank you to NetGalley for providing me with an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Freida McFadden is one of my favorite authors. I have read and loved most of her books, this one was no different. I did find it to be a little different than her typical writing, but I still enjoyed it.
This was a quick suspenseful read that I found twisty at times. The chapters are short which made for a 3 sitting read for me. The plot of the story and tension between friends was familiar, but Freida does a good job of putting her own spin on things.
Three couples decide to head on a retreat, when their vehicle breaks down they are left stranded in the woods. Deciding to embark on walking to find help, they soon suspect that they aren’t alone when one of their friends goes missing.

• One by One was the third book from Frieda McFadden that I read. This author truly writes the most unlikeable characters you can ever imagine and then just makes her books absolutely unputdownable. I always hate all the husbands she writes, they are despicable and the worst you can ever imagine. I'm saying this in a good, addictive thriller book kinda way. You will want to know what's next till the end.
• One by One was just amazing, I was supposed to be doing a bunch of things but this book took over my day and I ended up finishing it within two sittings. I did not see the end coming AT ALL. I totally thought I had narrowed down it to two of the characters but I couldn't have been more wrong. The twists and turns truly made me nervous. The writing just transported me into the woods with Claire!
• This story is absolutely unhinged and delightful, perfect for readers who like edge of the seat thrillers set in unpredictable backdrops.
• Thank you Netgalley, Freida McFadden and Poisoned Pen Press for this e-arc. The republication of One by One will be out April 2!

One by one they fall, after their van breaks down and they need to make their way through the woods. A night supposed to be filled with fun and relaxation, only to impose the opposite.
With a bunch of well thought out and crafted twists and turns, McFadden has landed another stunner of a thriller that kept my attention from the beginning, until the very end.
With two povs, Claire in the present and an unknown character in the past, the allure is there to captivate you in all the greatest ways. The ending was unexpected, but I loved the look into the person responsible for the disappearances without giving them away throughout the novel.
Thank you to Netgalley, Poisoned Pen Press and Freida McFadden for the eARC!

She’s done it again. A psychological thriller to say the least. After every chapter I thought I had it all figured out and then another twist. It unsettles me in every one of her books when I start to not trust the MC and every time that’s exactly when the creepy vibes start. She had me questioning everything even up to the last page and beyond into the epilogue. I don’t know how her mind does it!

I really enjoyed this book. It was a fun, quick read with a nice plot twist. I was definitely guessing until the very end.

Three couples going on a getaway for a week hiking, relaxing and hot tubs. Things don’t work out as anticipated when their van breaks down and they must navigate through the deep woods to get to the inn.
Soon, ‘One by One’ people are being struck down. Is an animal hunting them or is the hunter one of them?
A quick read with twists and turns. It was an okay read for me. Never felt engaged to the story or any of the shallow characters. I did enjoy her book, The Teacher.

This was a good one! 3 couples plan a week long vacation together in a remote area. What should be a relaxing friendly time turns into a terrifying survival test.
As always, Freida McFadden provides a quick read. I was drawn to the suspense of these unfortunate characters. There’s two POVs: Claire (present) and “Anonymous” (past). The twists and turns were well written. I’d say this is one of my favorite Freida reads so far.

One by One is a popcorn, murder mystery thriller. The plot is interesting, three sets of couples decide to visit an isolated inn for vacation but get lost on the way. Then “one by one” members of the group go missing or are killed. There are moments in this book where I was shaking my head in disbelief in the choices that were being made. However, I did enjoy the flashbacks that gave an insight into the killer’s history without giving away who it was. This is a super quick read and the ending was interesting, though I still question some of the logistics. I’ve enjoyed several of Freida McFadden’s books and will continue to pick up her new releases.
