Freida McFadden has written another “grab you from go” book! One by One pulled me in right away. There are 7 main characters, six with secrets, some worse than others. The 7th is “Anonymous”. I kept thinking this was a different one of the main 6 but never expected it to be who it was! It was more of a shocker than a twist but still got me!
Then the epilogue lays out other parts, and secrets kept. WOW!
Thank you NetGalley and Poisoned Pen for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Wow! How could you not be instantly intrigued when the first line is “I don’t know when I started to hate my husband.” This captivating, addictive thriller could easily be devoured in a single sitting. Three couples embark on a week-long getaway only to be faced with danger and possibly murder around every corner. I was completely drawn to the anonymous chapters that were disturbing and filled with clues of the impending doom faced by the horrified six who were forced into survival mode. Fast-paced, entertaining, and utterly unputdownable describe this must-read thriller. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Thank you NetGalley and Poisoned Pen Press for my copy.

Amazing!!! Freida does not write bad books! This book was so twisty and crazy, I absolutely did not guess the ending! McFadden just has such a solid voice, and a gift for keeping you on the edge of your seat throughout the entire story! I could not put this book down.

We had a quiet morning and I was hooked on this! Finished it in a few hours! The tension whilst reading was brilliant you are always trying to guess what is happening to the characters in the woods!
The pov of Claire and the anonymous character was brilliant. As always frieda always is trying to guess the twists and turns constantly!

3.5 stars rounded to 4. A group in an isolated, enclosed location where escape is impossible and people start dying has been a popular 'locked room' theme since Agatha Christie. One by One is a fast-paced, easy read and one of the more entertaining books of its kind.
Three couples with secrets and problems between themselves and with other group members are stranded on their way to a luxury lodge. Their vehicle breaks down, and they begin walking toward their hotel, where they hope to enjoy the pleasures of comfortable beds, good meals, and a pool and jacuzzi. Even with a map and compass, they become hopelessly lost in the dark woods and seem to be walking in circles. There are plenty of complaints and blame. They are forced to sleep in muddy clothing on the cold ground in dirt and leaves. They hear the howling of coyotes or wolves at a distance, and there are signs of bear claws on nearby trees.
Claire and an anonymous killer narrate the story. Is the serial killer one of the group or a deadly outsider? Claire is presented as hateful to her husband, Noah, who has become cold and remote. She constantly taunts and demeans him. She plans to divorce him as soon as they return home. She even arranged separate rooms unknown to him. She intends to use the room for an ongoing affair with another man on their trip. Claire's best friend is the first to die, and it is thought to be accidental.
Then, two more vanish into the forest and the darkness of night. Have wild animals taken them? Has an unknown killer been following them?
This was an enjoyable thriller with well-defined characters who made terrible choices and clashed with other group members. There was a solid build-up to a twisty but less-than-believable ending.
This book is recommended for anyone who likes a readable thriller that keeps readers guessing and entertained. It is set in a dark, scary forest, which would make it especially compelling for fans of 'locked room' mysteries.
A big thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the gripping ARC. One by One will be published on April 02.

Claire and her husband have been struggling in their marriage, but decide to give a group vacation a try to see if it can be repaired. On the drive, the van breaks down and the group decides to walk through the woods to their hotel. Soon they find they are lost, the compass is not working and the group begins to blame one another as they begin going missing.
This book had several (slightly predictable) twists and turns, but there is a hug shock right at the end! I recommend this book for an easy read thriller. Thank you to NetGalley and Poisoned Pen Press for the ARC.

Go Freida Go! I could not put this book down and finished it in two days. The ending had that Freida McFadden twist that we all love.
One by One is definitely a must-read! #NetGalley

This book has a great plot twist! I never even saw it coming. Three couples go on a week vacation only to be stranded in the woods instead. Each person has a secret and they slowly are revealed as the story goes on. Who knew surviving a vacation with your friends would be so hard?Lol

I will start off by saying that Freida’s books are so bibgeable, so easy to read, I enjoyed the premise of this one, because I think the idea of being lost in the woods is so creepy. I think this is my 13th Freida book I’ve read, so I am starting to find a lot of similarities between her books, but the location of the creepy cabin and woods was a little different for her. The end was twisty as per usual, and the characters were unreliable and could have all been guilty.
This is a 3.5 ⭐️ book rounded up, I would recommend it, but it’s not my favorite from Frieda McFadden.

4.25 Stars!
Six friends go on a road type trip to escape their day to day & things take a turn. We follow the point of view of Claire &
"Anonymous" for the entire book. Claire's relationship is rocky & these are all her oldest friends who are coming together for a fun time of relaxation. The entire time we are trying to figure out if one of the six are Anonvmous & what their involvement is to the storyline.
It seems that one by one they are being killed off.
A few twists. A lot of people dead. Was a fast audiobook listen I completed on my commute to work for a week. Overall a good time even though I saw some of it coming.
• Dual POV
•Secluded vibes
•Killer amongst the group?
•Poison Berries
•Staying in a dead persons cabin.
Love the new cover. Slight change to design but looks very fresh! Can’t wait to see other Freida revamps happening soon!

Am I super late to Freida McFadden? Yes, I am. Am I angry with myself for not reading her books sooner? Yes, I am.
Claire and her husband, Noah pack up to go on a trip with their friends. Jack and Michelle. Lindsay and her new beau, Warner. Claire knows her marriage is over, that they've only been staying together for the kids. She debates whether or not to tell him she's done during this trip. On the way to their inn, Claire's minivan breaks down and it's the beginning of the worst 3 days of their lives.
I've been on a really solid romance kick the last few months but my love of reading started with psychological thrillers. The absolute mindf*ck of thrillers had always drawn my attention. I'm happy to say that Freida's books are not over hyped. It's an extremely fast paced read, but isn't all over the place. The anonymous chapters were frustratingly perfect with no hint of who they were. I second guessed myself multiple times right up until the last page. My next few weeks are going to be spent reading the rest of Freida's released books.
Thank you to Netgalley, Freida McFadden, and Poisoned Pen Press for the chance to read One By One!

Six. Five. Four. Three…one by one. How many will come out of the woods?
Claire Matchett and her friends with each of their partners have a week planned that should reboot their lives. Hiking during the day, hottubbing at night. Sounds perfect. However, as the six of them are driving to their destination, Claire's minivan breaks down. None of them have cell phone reception, so they are forced to head out on foot, using rudimentary forms of methods for navigation.
However, things go from bad to worse. They soon become lost. What is more is that one of their party is soon found dead. An omen of things to come for sure, because the number of their party continues to dwindle. They know they are out there alone, so it seems one of hem must be a killer. But who? And why?
One thing that I really like about Freida McFadden's books is that as soon as you think you have the story figured out, there is a banger of a plot twist to really knock your socks off. Kudos to Ms. McFadden for surprising me yet again.
Many thanks to Freida McFadden, Poisoned Pen Press and to NetGalley for this ARC for review. This is my honest opinion.

Great psychological thriller, didn’t see the twist at the end coming. I definitely thought it was gonna be someone else. Read in two days I think, really enjoyed it.

4.5/5
I love it when a book can make me think one thing is going to happen, and something else happens entirely. This book did it for me. I started my journey reading Freida with The Coworker. I loved the mystery involved. This book blew it out of the water. When I thought I had figured out what was going on, it took a completely different turn. I loved having the Anonymous chapters giving a little backstory woven throughout along with the main story involved. The relationships between all the characters seemed so cut and dry and then as the story actually progressed, you got to see the complicated mess that they actually were. I enjoyed every minute of this insane ride and I will forever be wary of who I go camping with in the future.
Thank you NetGalley for the ARC

I got this book from NetGalley. I had actually read it before but I forgot until I started it. I actually liked it more the second time. I remembered who was the killer but when I read back I still think it would be hard to guess. I still loved Claire and Noah and how their relationship changed throughout the book. I feel you don’t see that too often in thrillers.
This was a great book and one of my favorites from McFadden.

This thriller follows 3 sets of couples to a remote vacation in the woods. However, one by one they start to go missing. While I did enjoy the plot overall, it is not one of my favorites from Freida McFadden. What I like about the book was I was left guessing until the end and I did not see the final twist coming. However, I did feel like the book was a bit slow paced especially at the beginning. Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for a copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.

I liked the story. A group of friends who leave for a week long trip, get stuck in the woods and get taken out one by one. Who is the killer? What's the motive? It was quite thrilling.
I was hookeddddd and I was really enjoying up until the end. I don't like it when people don't stay dead.

Sometimes you read a thriller and think "if this person had one OUNCE of common sense or a sense of self-preservation, none of this would have happened". Many thrillers inherently require you to suspend your disbelief and go along for the ride. One by One certainly had a few moments where I questioned their decision-making skills, but overall it was a more logical thriller than many I have read.
Much of the enjoyment of reading thrillers is trying to solve the mystery before it is told to you. So when you read one where the answers are completely out of left field and it is impossible to solve it, it breaks that enjoyment. I found this book to have just enough teasers that you could potentially solve it on your own, but yet the big twist at the end was still big enough that it left you questioning everything you've read so far.
I've read a handful of Freida McFadden's books so far and would recommend this one as either a first entry into her works or as a follow-up to some of her more common books.
Thank you to NetGalley and Poisoned Pen Press for an advanced reader copy. All opinions are my own and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Freida McFadden has done it again! Some of her books to me are hit or miss, but I think this one was pretty good! There’s something about her twists in books that either have me shocked or I already guessed what was going to happen. Luckily, I had no idea who truly was in charge of the disappearances in this book until it was revealed. Although I felt as though some things were repetitive in nature, overall this book would be one I would recommend to a friend. I’m not a fan of the cheating trope so that personal opinion is something that dropped my rating down a bit, but I’m glad that Noah’s character was redeemed at the end!

I just finished reading "One by One" by Freida McFadden. Thanks to NetGalley and Poisoned Pen Press for giving me an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.
This book involves three couples who leave for a one week stay in a cabin the woods. The main character Claire, is married to Noah but they hate each other. They are joined by Lindsey and her boyfriend Warner and Michelle and Jack (Noah's. best friend). There is also a mystery narrator who seems very interesting and you know is one of the six travellers.
When the minivan breaks down on the way to their destination, the six decide to walk to the cabin because there is no cell service and they have a map as well as a compass. It is during their trek through the trails that they start to disappear and we realize that someone is after them. The story is told through the perspective of Claire and we soon realize that there are many secrets which put different characters in a shady light. Nevertheless, soon, there are only three left....what is going to happen now?
Read the book and find out. But I must warn you. It's not heartstopping or exciting or even a little bit suspenseful. First of all, the characters are not inspiring or interesting. They serve one purpose...that is to keep the reader guessing. The twist is so out there it is not even a little bit believable, and the reason for the dissapearances is not very understandable.
The book is written such a way that the reader wants find out what happens...but mostly I just wanted the story to end. Sadly, thisis my least favourite Freida McFadden book and I have read quite a few of them. I just found it was not up to par with her others. A bit too over the top with not a lot of credibility when it came to the bad guys or their reason for what they did.
Happy Reading.
