I have read the first two books in the series and I really like the premise of the story, honestly more than I like the romances. Although the main love interest in this book is probably the least interesting to me of the love interests, I did think the character arc for the main character of this book was the most successful in the series so far.
I thought this was very good and I will have to add this to the shop shelves. Thank you for the chance for us to review.
📙+🎧: Truly Madly Magically- Witchlore book #3
✍🏾 By: Hazel Beck- I read Small Town, Big Magic & Big Little Spells & gave them 4 ⭐
🙏🏾Thanks to NetGalley, Harlequin Trade Publishing | Graydon House, and Hazel Beck for this ARC🍂! I voluntarily give my honest review, and all opinions expressed are my own.
🗣️Narrator: Natalie Duke voices all characters. The narrator's voice fit the characters with standouts from Ellowyn, Elizabeth, and Zander. The reading style brought the text to life, and the author and narrator worked together perfectly. The pacing and flow allowed me to get lost in the story. The narrator paused and announced new chapters and there was a table of contents which helped me follow along with the E-book and audiobook.

*Bill Wallace-Ellowyn's human father that left them for new wife Stephanie with 5 daughters.
🤔My Thoughts: Ellowyn's pregnancy added higher stakes to the Joywood/Riverwood war. Ellowyn saw herself as an outcast because she's half human and can't control her magic. Her and Zander antagonize each other until she revealed she's 4 months pregnant. Zander offered protection and love to overcome his grief and anger over Zelda's murder. The found family/Riverwood coven was another highlight. Each person had their own powers but were labelled outcasts that Joywoods tried to destroy because of their potential. I liked the tease for Georgie's book, can't wait!

I didn't connect with this book and it's probably my fault. I went at this thinking it was an interconnected standalone, 100% on me. Regardless, I thought the interaction between the FMC and MMC was pretty good but I didn't feel like the plot was enough to sustain my interest (if I had been invested with book 1&2 I can see how it wouldn't have been too much of a factor.
Generally it was a nice, cozy read and I'm hoping to go back and read the first two books. The writing was fantastic and I feel like I'd enjoy the characters more after hearing their stories.
The Withlore series is getting better and better!
This series is cozy, warm, fun, light… and this newest addition to the series is all of those things. Ellowyn was such a fun FMC to follow and her story felt incredibly emotional and tender. Her family of Zander, her friends (real and ghost!), and her sisters being developed while she was pregnant felt really poignant and delicate. I also found this book to have a really empowering message. So far, all of the Hazel Beck books in the Witchlore series have a great focus of women finding themselves and coming into their own. Ellowyn’s growth and her discovery of what it means to be powerful was really nice to read… it just makes you all warm and fuzzy by the end.
If you’re looking for something light, sweet, easy, entertaining, and thoughtful… read this book and the rest of the Witchlore series!
A thin line between love and hate.
Truly Madly Magically by Hazel Beck is the third in the Witchlore Series and is a spicy, twisty, witchy love story. After joining a new found coven, Ellowyn, a half witch, has to not only find herself in the midst of self loathing and feeling less than due to being a half witch, but also deal with an ex, Zander. To make matters even worse, there’s an evil after her and she has no idea why. Maybe she’ll finally be able to find her place and step into her power or end up in an even worse situation.
Even though I haven’t read the first two books, it didn’t deter me from reading and getting through this one. There’s a few things that I was curious about but there’s enough backstory within this book to keep things moving forward and not leave the reader feeling left out or lost.
I really love that there’s the theme of being mixed throughout this book/series. Her biggest issue that keeps coming up is that she feels less than because she is only half witch. For her whole life she has felt like she can’t live up to the same level of power as the other full witches and she backs down from that. On top of that she has a tendency to self sabotage in order to save herself from more hurt. So many deep rooted issues within her that are presented in a creative way.
I also like that her main power is a summoner, which allows her to talk to the dead. This alongside her being cursed to tell the truth all the time makes for an interesting dynamic of a character.
There’s tons of in your face romance, spiciness, love hate dynamics, and even a somewhat welcomed surprise. So much to take in in such a seemingly short book.
If you’re into paranormal romance that have enemies, bickering second chance romancesque moments, lots of magic and fantasy, then this is for you. This will keep you on your toes while also indulge you with the romance.
Next book: Book 1: Small Town, Big Magic, Book 2: Big Little Spells, Book 4 (2025)

It’s finally heeeeeeeere!
From the moment I read the first book in the Witchlore series, I’ve been dying to get Ellowyn & Zander’s story. Ellowyn and Zander were high school sweethearts until their relationship ended in spectacular fashion at prom. Ever since, they’ve had to navigate being in the same friend group while maintaining their never-ending bitterness towards each other (except, let’s be real, that’s unresolved love, right?).
Just as Ellowyn and Zander begin to unravel their complicated relationship and attempt to form a new path for themselves, their coven of friends have to face down the Joywood, the evil ruling coven of witches they’re trying to defeat.
This book was everything I wanted and more, and gave the first book of the series serious competition as my favorite. Just in time for spooky season, pick this one up now!

Truly Madly Magically (Witchlore, Book 3) by Hazel Beck
⭐️⭐️⭐️ / Pages: 361 / Genre: Witch Romance
Ellowyn is a half-witch, who’s always felt lesser than compared to the full witches in her coven. But as her coven prepares to apply for ascension, she discovers she is more powerful than she ever dared to dream. And her complicated and tumultuous relationship with Zander also changes in ways she never thought possible.
I jumped into book 3 of this series without having read the previous two books. Usually this isn’t a problem for me, but this story relied so heavily on previous events, I think it would have been better to start from the beginning. Having said that, this story was just ok for me. Plus a surprise pregnancy is not a good trope for me. Ugh. 🙄
Thank you, @NetGalley, @htpbooks, and @htp_hive for my gifted copies.
This series just gets better and better! This is my new favorite book of the series, and I need book #4 right now.
Ellowyn Good is a cursed half-witch. She has lived most of her life feeling inferior to the rest of her coven. She is cursed to tell the truth, and right now she’s keeping a secret.
Zander Rivers is a Guardian. He is grieving the loss of his beloved mother. Zander and Ellowyn were high school sweethearts. Secrets and betrayals have kept them apart for the better part the blast 10 years.
Now their coven, Riverwood, is looking to displace the evil ruling coven, the Joywood.
This series is incredible. This is book #3 and I really think it’s the best yet. There is romance, magic, and even a little of the scary. Ellowyn is such an amazing character with a great backstory. I adore her and Zander. Her backstory and journey is everything I’d hoped for and more. I can’t wait for the next book!
If you are a fan of audiobooks, this is a great series to listen to. Natalie Duke is a fabulous voice and narrator for this series!
Thank you to NetGalley, Harlequin Trade Publishing, and Graydon House for the opportunity to read this incredible book! I highly recommend this entire series - especially for the fall. All three books are available now!
Something about Hazel Beck's Witchlore books is addictive, because even though I don't totally love these books, I keep coming back to find out what will happen next. Truly Madly Magically is a good example of that. As I was reading, I found myself growing a little frustrated with the characters and the pacing and even some of the writing choices, ready to be finished, and yet, I'm still intrigued enough by the overall story of the Riverwood coven to know that I'll probably come back for the final book in the series.
I think that's what's interesting about these books. The individual romances are sort of meh (I enjoyed the first book a lot but 2 and 3 haven't hit for me quite as hard), but the macro plot about a scrappy group of misfits overthrowing the evil powers that be of witchdom keeps bringing me back. While I did enjoy some elements of Ellowyn and Zander's second chance romance and Ellowyn's own coming into herself as a witch, I was way more interested in what was up with the Joywood and their scheming. In a lot of ways, this felt like a transitional book in the larger story - it raised a ton of questions that will hopefully be answered in the final installment, but left me frustrated with all the setup and minimal payoff.
I guess my takeaway is that I'll be back for the final book, but I do hope that it's got a more kick to the romance to make me enjoy reading it a bit more.
3.25/5
Thank you to #NetGalley and #HarlequinTradePublishing for the eARC of this book. I enjoyed it so much. The story was good, and Ellowyn is a fun character. I honestly felt like I was reading a modern-day fairy tale that could be passed down to future gens. The characters, romance, and overall story are so good! I highly recommend this book and plan to read the first two and then this one again,
I think this was my favorite so far in the series. Zander seems to have always known what he wanted and has just been waiting for Ellowyn to catch up. Of course an accidental pregnancy doesn't help and still being demeaned and plotted against by the Joywood. This new coven has a lot to deal with, trusting themselves and each and other.
Ellowyn is only half a witch. She has never thought of herself as especially talented in the witch department. But, when she is targeted by the evil rulers of Joywood, it takes the whole coven to protect her and her child!
This is one of my favorite fall series. I enjoy these wonderful characters, especially Ellowyn. Her interactions with Zander just tickle me. She is determined NOT to be in love with him. But, believe me, she is! And now that she is pregnant with his child, he is extra special to her. These two end up fighting for more than their child, they end up fighting for their lives. And Ellowyn is definitely in the most danger.
I enjoyed the witch fights, the spells and the ghosts in this story! And the characters are the best!
Need an all around good witchy read….THIS IS IT! Grab your copy today!
I received this novel from the publisher for a honest review.
Ellowyn and Zander. A classic enemies to lovers story with a magical twist! Ellowyn is half human half witch, and discovers things about her family/past. She also discovers Zander’s intentions along the way.
I didn’t realize this was a series, but I followed along without reading the first two. The first two are next on my reading list! Cute fall witchy read! Thank you Net Galley, Harlequin Trade Publishing, and Hazel Beck for the ARC!
Such a great read! Highly recommend this one.
Many thanks to the author, the publisher, and Netgalley for my ARC. All opinions are my own.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review!
3.5⭐️ what a great book to read right as spooky season and fall is coming! this story was the third book in the series, and although i didn’t feel as connected to the characters and sometimes had a little confusion with the plot due to not reading the previous two, i really liked this story!! ellowyn was quite the badass, she showcased so much power and determination to prove she deserves a spot within her coven. one of my favorite parts was seeing her realize she doesn’t need anyone’s approval but her own and she has had the strength she’s been searching for all along 🥹
this world was so interesting! the dynamic between the witches and society was fun and i liked seeing the powers that each witch had. the found family was really sweet and im sure if i read the prior two books it would be even better!!
now. let’s get to ellowyn and zander. SO FREAKING CUTE!!! they were a good lovers to enemies to lovers who really never stopped being lovers but just needed a little push to get back to each other fully. 🤍 they were so good to each other and zander was so swooonyyyy.
i really enjoyed this one and thought it was a fun, spooky, witchy urban fantasy!
Loved reading the mesmerizing and captivating paranormal story. When Zander's mom's ghost visits Ellowyn, she know it is time to tell Zander about the pregnancy. Read the highly recommended, wonderfully written full of mystery and romance, and a must read riveting love story.
I received this book as an ARC through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review, but unfortunately, it wasn’t for me. The main female character felt overly immature for someone nearing 30, which made it difficult for me to connect with her, especially given the significant life event of an unexpected pregnancy. I’m not a fan of the surprise pregnancy trope, which played a major role in the story. I found myself disengaged and ultimately didn’t finish the book.
I appreciate the opportunity to read this ARC, but it just wasn’t for me.
I just adore these books by Hazel Beck. There's the small town charm that you expect in a RomCom and there's also the fun of the witchcraft. And now that we are three books into the series, I have settled in really nicely with all the characters. Beck does a great job with character development, so we care a lot about these best friends who are trying to dave their town from dangerous witches.
The couple we care about in this book are Ellowyn and Zander, and if you like second chance and enemies to lovers tropes, Beck does a fantastic job of using them in this book. Ellowyn is a powerful witch who has a lot of self-doubt because she is half witch and half human. She's spent her entire life hearing from bullies about how she's not good enough to be real witch. Zander was the boy she loved who broke her heart without explaining why. They have vowed to be enemies, and usually are except for one night a year, on Beltane, when they let their chemistry take over. It's their hall pass. Well, the latest night has a huge consequence, and they need to figure out if they can really be in each other's lives for the long haul. Set all of this personal drama within the community drama of the town deciding who the new witches will be, and also the current witches being evil and poisoning Ellowyn, and you've got a real page turner!
I enjoyed this book so much that after I finished it, I went back and read the first book in the series again. It's a story world that I am happy to go back to.
Thank you NetGalley for the free digital ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
3.5 stars
We join the Riverwood Coven as they continue to fight the Joywood Coven for control of the magic in their town. We focus on the tea shop owner Ellowyn and her fraught past with her first love Zander. Ellowyn has never felt like enough or that she fit in, she is a witch but she is also half human. With her coven trying to do right by the town, and dethrone the corrupt Joywoods, she is being targeted by them. She must learn about her past and who she truly is, and also work to mend the bridge between her and Zander, because together they are better, and their love can overcome anything that comes their way.
This series is something I look forward to reading everytime a new book is published. Although we mostly focus on a new couple each book, the over all story and plot continues from book to book. This book had swoony moments, tension, high stakes, lots of cool magic, and a good storyline. I had a great time reading this latest installment, and I can't wait to see how the story continues in the next novel.
