This was a solid conclusion to this series so much. I loved finally getting to El and Zander’s story and to get to the final confrontation between the covens that we all knew was coming!
hese books give a small town Gilmore girls vibe combined with the witchy political upheaval of A discovery of witches vibes. I absolutely LOVE it.I loved this book so much I finished it in one day. I have been flying through this series and really enjoying it. Big thank you to NetGalley and Harlequin Trade Publishing for the eARC of this book!!! I binged the first two books after I received the ARC and man they did not disappoint. I absolutely love the overarching plot line that continues from book to book as well as the smaller couple romance plot that features a different couple each book.
Ellowyn has been a favorite of mine this entire series. I also love an accidental pregnancy, second chance romance trope. However, this was slow and just fell flat for me. The storyline was challenging to follow and had a lot of characters to keep track of.
"A witch cursed to tell the truth, and the man who won't let her lie to herself anymore...
Cursed by her own mother to always tell the truth and one of the only half-witches around, Ellowyn Good has never considered herself an equal part of the Riverwood coven. But when the Joywood, the evil rulers of the witching world, target her directly, she begins to wonder why they want her gone.
She'll need to work with her newly formed coven to survive, which includes dealing with her first love, past wreckage and a whole new complication she didn't see coming. With their fates in the balance, Ellowyn will have to learn to trust Zander again - or be doomed to repeat the mistakes of the past. Assuming they all survive the Joywood's latest bid for absolute power over the witching world..."
It's the last week of August, time to plan your fall reading... And this better be on your TBR pile!
I absolutely love Ellowyn. Her curse is hilarious, but I know it would be AWFUL. She works it like a champ though! I won't lie, this romantic trope is not my favorite, but I think because of how invested I already am with the characters (with this being the third book) I was more receptive to it. Were there moments where I wanted to scream at the main characters? Yes. Did it stop me from enjoying the book? Not really. It's still the same St. Cyprian and the same coven I fell in love with back in Small Town, Big Magic. I can't wait to see what the next book holds!
I loved the first two books in the Witchlore series, and this was another wonderful addition. For anyone looking for a cozy, witchy read with small town vibes this fall – look no further. It was wonderful to watch Ellowyn and Zander’s characters grow (in more ways than one) and has me so excited to read the next book in the series. I do believe its very important to read in order – if this is the first book you read in the series, you’d be missing a lot of background.
I received an ARC from the publisher in exchange for an honest review
Truly Madly Magically by Hazel Beck is a first person-POV second chance fantasy romance following half-witch Ellowyn and Zander after Ellowyn finds out she’s pregnant with Zander’s child. Ellowyn has been cursed so she is incapable of lying, something she greatly resents as it makes it harder for her to hide her feelings and thoughts. Zander is her ex-romantic interest who she has slept with one night a year for a decade and then the pair go back to being enemies in the morning. But is that what they actually want?
As I have not read the previous two books, I walked into this book fairly blind. I expected Zander to be a jerk and have no respect for Ellowyn’s thoughts and feelings and it’s really down to a physical chemistry that keeps them coming together. That ended up not being the case as I slowly got more bits and pieces and spent more time with them as a couple. Zander and Ellowyn are childhood friends who have been there for each other through the death of Zander’s mother to Ellowyn’s father cheating on her mother and having another family while still married to Ellowyn’s mother. It’s less an enemies-to-lovers and more of a ‘I have been hurt before and seen how that hurt impacted my parent’ fear. It felt realistic.
The B plot is Ellowyn’s coven, the Ravenwood, is competing against the Joywood, the reigning coven, for leadership over all of witchdom on Samhain, aka, Halloween. The trials mentioned are less physical and more rooted in convincing witchdom which coven is the right choice for them. Joywood has been suppressing those who disagree with them for years, look down on humans, which is made quite evident in how they treat Ellowyn, and have no qualms with using magic to get their way. It looks more like an American political debate, all the way down to the internal screaming of ‘they’re lying’ rather than Hunger Games.
As a character, Ellowyn is very much stuck in her head but is passionate and forgiving. We get to see her interacting with the woman who her father cheated on her mother with and their children and there is an obviously loving relationship between Ellowyn and her half-siblings and step-mother (though not really one between her and her father). She seems to recognize that it was her father who was in the committed relationship and her step-mother and the children are not to blame. It would be easy for her to ignore their existence, not only due to the circumstances, but because witchdom is anti-human and it only draws more attention to Ellowyn’s human half, but she chooses to have a relationship with the other half of her.
I would recommend this to fans of fantasy romance that are more genre romance and center around witches, readers looking for a second chance witchy romance, and those looking for a less epic but still high stakes fantasy romance
Another strong book in this series. Multiple plot lines, good triumphs over evil, but the potential for further misdeeds and adventures is hinted at. Can't wait to see what happens next. Already in carts to purchase for my system in physical and digital formats.
I received this book as an ARC from NetGalley and Harleyquin Publishing. I was very happy with how this book turned out following the same pattern of the previous two novels in the series. I love this series and I really enjoyed this book out of the other two the most. The fight and determination by the main character, Ellowyn, to survive but to also find her true self is what made this a page turner for me. She might not be able to tell a lie but she has been lying and doubting herself her whole life. She finally fights back against the normal and chooses to be better for herself, her daughter, and her family and friends. She was a symbol of solid strength against the evil and corrupt joywoods. Hazel Beck wrote a great third book of this series and I can’t wait for the next one.
This was cute! Magic, witches, found family, motherhood, and finding yourself all wrapped up in one cute package? Count me in.
Elizabeth and Zachariah were my favorites, I loved their story line and how they helped the Riverwood coven.
Truly Madly Magically by Hazel Beck is a delightful and enchanting tale filled with magic. This romantic comedy follows the story of a witch who is cursed to only speak the truth. Beck's novel weaves a captivating narrative that will leave readers spellbound from beginning to end. I can't wait to read more from this author soon!
I just finished reading "Truly Madly Magically" by Hazel Beck, and it was a charming, feel-good romance with a bit of magic. The characters were relatable and the story kept me hooked from start to finish. Beck's writing is engaging and made the world come alive. It was a delightful escape and an enjoyable read.

Protagonist Ellie, a charming and relatable character, discovers her innate magical abilities and uncovers family secrets that deepen her connection to the village's mystical heritage. Alongside her journey of self-discovery, Ellie navigates a blossoming romance with Alex, whose mysterious past adds an intriguing layer to their relationship. This novel is a perfect escape for readers who enjoy cozy, feel-good stories with a touch of enchantment and a satisfying happily-ever-after.
Finally! I’ve been waiting for Ellowynn and Zander’s story. I really like that those these books all contain a love story, they also contain strong female friendship stories.
These books just keep getting better and I enjoyed this one so much. I really like that, though each book focuses on one character, you get to continue to see growth in all of the characters.
Can’t wait to read the last of the series but I will be sad when it’s over!
This hurt in a fantastically good way. There was so much growth for all of these characters and so much emotion to go along with it. I didn't know this was a series prior to starting this book so I have yet to read the first two, but after reading this one I will 100% be revisiting this series. I was apprehensive to read because of the pregnancy as it is a sensitive topic not just for me but for many others, however it was so well written into this story and brought me so many emotions that I'm glad I powered through. This book deserves all the hype and more, and I hope we maybe get to see more characters stories in the future!
With a 5 star read, we are back in the witchy town of St. Cyprian (a town that I'd love to live in...without the Joywood coven of course). Hazel Beck's third book does not disappoint! This time we get better acquainted with the prickly, yet loveable Ellowyn. As with the first two books, there is plenty of magic to go around. This is something I really love about this series. The characters are as loveable as ever. Like people I'd like to hang out with in real life (especially if they were witches who would take me flying). The interpersonal relationships, especially within the coven are great. I felt like Truly Madly Magically took those familial relationships with coven members a step further this time, letting the reader get to know more of the families than with previous books. I'm loving this book, this series, and I cannot wait for the fourth book!!
One of my all time favorite series ,that I will be re reading over again, because of the town, the characters themselves, as well as the magic. And will ot might have felt a bit slow at times ,it worked in a way that I could just set back and enjoy the story with each turn of the page.
This book is a standout for me this year. Ellowynn was such a relatable character. It is so often we lie the most to ourselves and the support group that allowed her to grow and work through those lies was something most only dream of. I loved all of the gentle conflict and think so many moments in this book trended toward healthy mental well-being examples. The magic aspect is always fun in a book and it made this book feel extra cozy. When I requested this book I did not realize it was a series, so I will be picking up the others now.
I have thoroughly enjoyed this series so I was so excited to read Truly Madly Magically. It was like reuniting with old friends, the Riverwood coven in Saint Cyprian as they do battle with the Joywood coven. I loved reading Ellowyn and Zander's story! This book had many of the elements that I enjoy - small town, friendship, paranormal, and romance! Looking forward to Book 4 of the series.
Thank you to Harelquin Trade Publishing, NetGalley, and Hazel Beck for the eARC in exchange for my honest review.
*spoilers*
“The Riverwood’s rule is community. Family. Love. Light.”- Truly Madly Magically (2024)
I was extremely excited to return to St. Cyprian, Missouri with this 3rd book in the Witchlore series. Continuing with the storyline, this installment is told from the POV of Ellowyn, the “half-witch” of the newly designated Riverwood coven. The story picks up a few months after Big Little Spells ends, with the coven gearing up to participate in the Ascension Ritual occurring on Samhain. It’s been a few months since Zelda Rivers, mother to Zander and aunt to Rebekah and Emerson, has passed and everyone is healing in their own time. But… Ellowyn has a surprise. She’s pregnant!
Now, don’t get me wrong, accidental pregnancies aren’t usually my go-to troupe. But with the added history between Ellowyn and Zander (high school sweethearts to enemies to friends and eventually lovers) makes the story successful.
As the Riverwood coven navigate their way through three trials against the (evil) Joywood coven for the right to become the ruling coven over all of Witchkind, Ellowyn must learn to believe in herself, her gifts and talents, and her feelings for Zander.
With help from her friends, family (witchkind and human), and ancestors, Ellowyn learns to value her worth and realizes she is, in fact, special and vital to the survival of Witchkind.
To say I love this series is an understatement. I am impatiently waiting for the next book to release (projected in 2025) and hoping we get some justice for our history loving redheaded girly, Georgie… and of course can’t wait to meet Ellowyn and Zander’s baby.
