Myles de Lohr is known for having a cold heart, but his mother thinks it's a tender heart that he protects at any cost. Playing on his emotions and pride, Aviara de Serreaux flirts with Myles and his cousin in a competition. Christopher de Lohr sees only one way to save Myles from her clutches and that's to send him away on a mission. Veronica de Wolviston's greedy uncle is stealing anything he can get his hands on to sell for money. Myles arrives to escort her to her betrothed and decides to leave de Lohr soldiers to protect her home and keep her uncle out. As they travel along on their journey to Veronica's betrothed, something happens and the cold bitter knight looses his heart to a woman promised to another. Once again with Le Veque, it's an emotional ride. Keep the tissues handy.
Mild descriptive sex.

I haven’t read a medieval romance in a long time. This book is just what I needed to get me back in the groove. Kathryn LeVeque is such an amazing storyteller. Her attention to details and complex characters creates the perfect story. This adventure is about Myles and Veronica. Myles has hard lessons to learn about love and lust. Veronica is a strong female character who must save her home. Together they must overcome so much. This story is full of adventure, complex relationships, some twists and unexpected turns. The passion and heart in the story make it all complete. You will love this story. I received this as an ebook ARC but I will be adding to my bookshelf. I also have to find more from LeVeque.

Unexpected Love

In this medieval romance, Myles falls in lust with one woman, but he does not recognize it for what it is. Everyone warns him about Aviara, but he is unwilling to listen. Then, his father sends him to escort a woman to her betrothed. This is when he discovers the true meaning of love. Veronica and Myles will not have an easy path. There will be treachery and challenges they must overcome. I enjoyed this story and would recommend it to those who like medieval romance.

Oh WOW! Myles and Veronica's love story is filled with pain, sorrow, Ashton, adventure, love, and passion. Myles'story absolutely holds up to his father's, uncle's, cousins, and brothers and was truly a standout among all the de Lohr novels. Like all Kathryn le Veque novels, this book is well written, had unique characters (not sure how she keeps doing that with all the books she had written but BRAVO), has a plot that grabs and hold you until the very end, and causes the reader to experience a multitude is emotions.

I'm sure others will summarize but I'm just fine to give facts:
1.) love and loss battle each other in this book
2.). honor can be won and lost
3.). true love is worth not only fighting for and dieing for, but living for

I cannot recommend this book enough. Do yourself a huge favor and read this book.

I just reviewed Lion of Hearts by Kathryn Le Veque. #LionofHearts #NetGalley

Lion of Hearts is the 3rd in the series Sons of De Lorh (De Lorh Dynasty) will keep you spellbound as it takes you on a rollercoaster ride that brims with tension building twists and turns, trials and tribulations, danger and suspense that will keep you sitting on the edge of your seat. I love Kathryn Le Veque books that gives readers a well-written story, filled it with flawed characters who manage to grow and yet retain their personalities which captivates you from the beginning until the very end, passion, reunited with those who have a special place in your heart from other books, and family unity. With setting descriptions and action sequences that are wonderfully vivid that brings the story to life brings this read together perfectly!

Another great story from Kathryn! I love all the amazing ideas for stories she creates for us. Each is so different and yet so powerful!
As usual you pack so much into your stories: a self-absorbed female, father-son relationships, a man who is struggling to find someone who truly sees him, a daugher protecting her father's legacy, family love and support, and so much more.
Thank you for sharing Myles and Veronica's story with us. One of the best!

Myles and Veronica are so sweet!

Myles is a stalwart hero who has to learn the difference between love and lust, between finding a partner and chasing a prize. Veronica is willing to do whatever it takes to protect her father's estate from his greedy brother, even if that means marrying a stranger despite her growing feelings for her knight escort.

I really enjoyed the journey of the heart that shows Myles what he's really looking for, and I loved watching his interactions with his brothers and father. As expected with this author, the characters really come to life with the captivating emotional intensity and displays of chivalry and honor.

Veronica is not your usual damsel-in-distress, but she recognizes that she lives in a man's world and there's only so much she can do on her own. Her gentle honesty with Myles was refreshing and her patience was unfailing.

Myles and Veronica have to take on villains on two fronts, and they handle each one superbly. Their HEA was very sweet and I could not have enjoyed their story more. I highly recommend this for anyone who loves historical romances. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

This was my first historical romance and I didn’t know what to expect, but I loved it. It was so entertaining being transported to another world. The story was fun and well written and I can’t wait to go back and read the other books I have missed. Happy to have found another author I love.

One of my favorite authors! Her stories transport you to a different world in which you never want to leave. Her characters pull on your heartstrings drawing out your emotions for all to see. Myles and Veronica’s story reming me of fairytales with the best of endings. Throw in Mud and the story is pure perfection!

Christopher and Dustin’s adult children are a handful to work with over political matters. However when it calls for the children to protect what their parents have built the children stand strong. Myles, who’s the middle child has come under some troubling issues mainly Ollie and Aviara. The story between the three is a dangerous game that could effect everyone in the family. To de spell things from changing Myles not for the better, he’s been called to duty.
It is that duty to where Myles takes his journey of discovering himself from the inside out. I love the way writer tells a story where the reader walks away with a little bit of history lesson and words of encouragement or advice. I absolutely adore Myles family. The love that is shown through the family is so infectious and beautiful. I love Myles and Veronica as a couple, but I would have liked for Veronica’s age range to be older then twenty.
Perhaps she could have been written in as twenty four or older. Maybe the writer doesn’t need to address Veronica’s age at all or a quick reference to her age range. With that being said. I loved the book a lot. I enjoy reading a book that allows me to be entertained for awhile.
I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Lion of Hearts by Kathryn Le Veque is yet another example this this woman’s prowess in developing a character. He seemed to have a heart of stone. His mother, Cristin, said it was because the right woman had yet to come along and unlock it. There was a woman, Aviara, but she was a flirt and a manipulator. She didn’t love Myles, she just wanted him as a prize. He was at this gathering to thwart a French spy when she detained him. His brother, Peter, came along and got in her way so Myles could do his job. She didn’t like him and so went to flirt with another to repay him. This had happened before and it didn’t really matter until a missive came for his father, announcing her marriage to his cousin. His father distracted him by giving him a mission: escort a young woman to her betrothed. Her father had been a loyal vassal and he wished to honor him by following through on this request. When Myles and the men arrived at her home they didn’t find what they expected. Indeed, the whole journey was not what he had expected.

Myles was a de Lohr through and through: brave, loving, and intelligent. His mother was right. He had the capacity to love, just no one to shower his love on, until Veronica came a long and he discovered that women could be intelligent and want him for more than his name or his handsome face, as well as take care of herself.. He was not a man of fancy words but he knew how to express his feelings to this woman. She wanted to get to know him. He wanted to get to know her. Nothing would stop his marrying her, although several tried. It took a year, but all came right, despite others’ efforts. Good story, good characters, Christopher de Lohr and his family. What more could a reader want. Excellent book! Thank you Kathryn LeVeque!

I was invited to read Lion of Hearts by Dragonblade. All thoughts and opinions are mine. #Netgalley #Dragonblade #KathrynLeVeque #LionOfHearts

Easy to immerse myself in this medieval world of the de Lohrs.
Myles is a warrior sadly used by a selfish woman demanding his attention and pitting him against other men with jealousy. He struggles with this manipulative behavior but he finally meets a good and honest woman.
The journey of Veronica and Myles is well written, enjoyable to read, and celebrates family loyalty.

Myles is a man who has a heart of stone or ar least that's what everyone believes. Veronica is in desperate need of help to save her home and fortune. This is the overall plot of a story that actually has a deeper plot. One of a man who is struggling to find someone who truly sees him, beneath the shell. A fantastic story of a de Lorh son searching to find himself and a place amongs his peers . Beautifully crafted, fast paced and full of self reflection. If you are a fan of this author then you won't want to miss this story. If you are not, this is a great way to get started.

Lion of Hearts is the third book in the Sons of De Lohr and the thirteenth book in the De Lohr Dynasty series. This is the first book I have read by this author. I believe this can be a stand-alone read but this is a wonderful story and should be read one after the other.

This story is about Myles de Lohr the middle son in the family. He seems to care for Lady Aviara. Having spent much time among people of importance Lady Aviara is a master at game playing and she pits rivals against each other. When Myles doesn't take the hint, his brother Peter makes disparaging remarks which causes Lady Aviara to leave in a huff hoping Myles will follow. But he does not, he has a job to do.

A few weeks later the family gets word of Lady Aviara's marriage to Oliver de Grey, a cousin to Myles. Angry he lost her to his cousin, his father Christopher sends him on a mission to escort Veronica de Wolviston to meet her betrothed.

Veronica lost her father several months ago and her uncle has arrived claiming to have received a letter from her father stating he is to care for Veronica. Edgar is desperate for money and is determined to find it and if necessary, sell off his brother's possessions.

As Myles escorts Veronica to her betrothed, they both begin to have feelings for one another. After arriving at their destination Myles assesses her betrothed as vile and loathsome. He negotiates to buy the betrothal. Myles and Veronica agree to a courtship with one another. But Lady Aviara has suddenly become available and has plans to get Myles once and for all. Will Myles make the right choice when he is confronted with Aviara and Veronica.

I really liked this story. The first part rehashes history from previous books that helped me to catch up to this one. The De Lohr family is a strong family with good values. I liked the characters of Myles and Veronica, they seemed well matched. I hope to read more from this author.

What may have been termed “humorless and taciturn” in the past, is often called “the strong silent type” these days and Myles de Lore is all of that. Nevertheless, under that hard exterior, there beats a sensitive heart that is easily wounded and when put under pressure, Myles is inclined to hit out when it is least appropriate. Consequently, Lady Aviara is able to play her manipulative games, throwing out lures to reel in susceptible men. With a need to protect him, Myles' father sends him on a mission to escort a young lady to her betrothed but when things do not go to plan, Myles does the unthinkable, thereby winning Veronica's love but throwing his brothers into turmoil. This romance, a copy of which I received as a gift, closes on a victorious and romantic note with past errors being forgiven and Myles discovering that when the right woman comes along, he can trust her with his heart and soul. This is my honest and voluntary review.

I really like the characters in the story and the story itself. However, I struggled with the way a lot of the backstory was told through dialogue. It was still interesting enough to keep me reading until the end and I enjoyed the book. I would read more.

Another wonderful story from our very talented author. How she manages to write so many books, and yet they are all so different from each other, I don't know. Please keep them coming.

A medieval romance involving one of the de Lohr sons, Myles. His looks, skills on the battlefield, and the family name can get him anything he wants. He can have the woman he wants, when he wants, but duty must come first.

Our heroine is a very intelligent woman, who is determined to protect what is hers. That includes hiding away the wealth her father earned. To stop her greedy uncle from wasting it all.

I won't say anymore about the story because I don't want to spoil it for you. I couldn't put it down. There are more giggles than tears in this one. But our hero has to learn a harsh lesson.

I loved every page.
