I 100% LOVE THIS SERIES so far! I need the next one like yesterday! Vera's father is OH MY GOODNESS HE NEEDS TO STOP. And the BFF and the BA-DUMs and THAT ENDING and HOW is this going to end and I NEED IT TO HAVE A HEA!!!
(pausing, attempting to breathe normally)
Et hem. Pardon that emotional outburst, but can you BLAME me?!?! This series is just BLOWING me AWAY. I sincerely hope that it doesn't jump a shark, I really need this to not end up disappointing me. Sorry for sounding so negative, but when you have a series that is your Ride-or-Die and then it just...dies...you tend to get spooked and be unable to see how something THIS good can keep it up.
I love the mystery (HOW is all of this happening, WHY), the sci-fi aspects (parallel worlds? Universe hiccup?), the romance (WHO is Vera going to end up with, will it help her in the contest?), the artwork, the characters, the storyline, the drama (Vera's father just needs to GO, NOW!), in short, this series, continued in this book, is practically perfect to me.
Warning, I keep mentioning her father. He is...not well. Controlling and manipulating and refuses to relinquish what he sees as his power over those in his life. He's not happy unless he is in control, and he will take just about ANY means to get and maintain it. It is DARK and brought back some less than happy memories in me, and I haven't gone through nearly half of what poor Vera is going through.
Definitely for more mature audiences, so I would say Young Adult readers on up, with proper adult vetting as appropriate.
5, I am foaming at the mouth with anticipation for the next volume, stars.
My thanks to NetGalley and Wattpad/WEBTOON Unscrolled for an eARC of this book to read and review.
I’ve kept up with this webtoon and was a re-read for me. The artwork is absolutely stunning and I fell in love with this story all over again. I’m beyond happy to finally have this formatted into a book and I can’t wait to have this on my shelf. Snailords is amazing with this beautiful and captivating story.
4/5
I really enjoyed this, its such a strange concept but I enjoyed every minute of reading it.
Zylith and Zelan are such a duo. Their chemistry kept me super invested in the plot. Of course, there has to be a love triangle but it wasn’t terrible or overbearing like it can be sometimes. You got to meet Zylith’s family even though horrible to her. I’m excited to see the growth of all of Zylith’s relationships and see how everything plays out.
Thank you NetGalley, Wattpad WEBTOON Book Group, and WEBTOON Unscrolled for this arc!
4.5/5 stars
I really enjoyed this second volume of Freaking Romance! I love the dynamic between Zelan and Zylith, and their growing friendship (and something moooooreee) is really sweet! I love how helpful and supportive Zelan is with all the things Zylith is going through. I read this so quickly and was so surprised when it ended, it just snuck up on me! I just want more lol!! I can't wait for volume 3!!
I dnf'd this around 30%. I just found myself not jivving with the story as much as I did during volume one. Maybe it's a case of right book, wrong time? I'll try to pick this up again in a few months to see if my opinion changes.
I can’t put into words how invested I am in this plot. I began reading this a few years ago on WebToon, and I’m so happy to see it get published! The romance is so good. I can’t wait to continue on!
After binging volume 1, I immediately picked up this volume to continue the journey with Zylith, Zelan, and Verose.
In this installment, we had Zylith “training” to compete in a romance contest with the help of “teacher” Zelan. Not only was this plot point adorable, but it brought with it a love triangle!!! Also, we see Zelan going from a “cinnamon roll” “soft boy” to a sexy alpha machine in about 2 seconds flat, which was YUMMMMM! I’m not going to spoil anything beyond this because you all just need to pick this up and read it!
I was completely intrigued to see where this love triangle was going to go that I ended up binging the rest of the second season of the comic on WEBTOON and finishing it in one sitting. I seriously cannot get enough of these freaking romantics! I will definitely be binging the rest of the episodes as soon as I can and I will be purchasing volume 2 and any other future volumes for my collection.
Thank you to NetGalley, Wattpad WEBTOON Book Group, WEBTOON Unscrolled, and Snailords for the opportunity to read this book. The thoughts and opinions expressed above are honest and my own.
Volume Two was actually even better than volume one! Readers get a sense of the characters' relationships with their parents and what kind of place they have in their own worlds. The child abuse Zylith experienced was so raw and real - the author did a fantastic job with showcasing just how emotionally and mentally manipulative and gaslight-y parents (or anyone) can be. It's rare for me to root for an alternate romance, but this book managed to tear me in two. I love Vera and I love Zelan both as love interests. The art is freaking FANTASTIC. It's so beautiful, and I absolutely adore all the humor and the way Snailords brings that out in their illustrations! Volume 3 cannot come soon enough!
This series is super fun! I love the characters and the art style. It's been fun to follow them through book 1 and now book 2! Great as a Webtoon and just as fantastic as a book! I'm excited to see how the story progresses in vol 3!
This was one of my first Webtoons and I really enjoyed reading it again. The art and plot are just as good as I remembered. It is also really funny, there are so many silly comments that make you laugh.
Eeks ! Yes ! this was amazing.
This one gives you more character development. The illustrations were on point. I loved it even more than the first one and that’s hard to beat because the first one was so good. The storyline was engaging and keep me hooked til the end. I read it with no breaks I want to keep going but now I must wait til the next one
I really enjoyed the first volume of Freaking Romance so I was excited to read the next volume in the series. Volume 2 was much darker than the first volume. Zylith deals with her abusive father (he’s horrible!), her crush on Vera, and her feelings for Zelan. This was a good volume, but I’m hoping the next volume focuses more on Zylith and Zelan’s relationship. I love the sexual tension between them and I really want them to get together!! I’m looking forward to the third volume.
3.5⭐️
I was hoping to get some kind of clarification on literally ANYTHING that was going on in this story and haven’t gotten anything. I also liked the art in book 1 more as well. This is a series I won’t continue with, but I can see how others like this. Just not for me!
Freaking Romance volume two jumps right in where volume one ended with no time in-between. Zylith and Zenon are trying to figure out why they can exist together in the same apartment, but their respective friends can't see each other. Zylith attempts to learn about romance to give her stories a more realistic quality. Zylith's dad makes a reappearance to threaten her and attempt to manipulate her to do what he wants, but Zenon's friends ship helps her to navigate standing up for herself. But Zenon isn't being complete honest about his mom and what is going on with his family. They will only have about a month together to figure this all out and hopefully we learn more in the next volume.
Yet another amazing volume. I have been recommending this to all my romance lovers in the manga section. It’s a hit!
I'm so confused, I'm not going to lie. What is really happening right now? How am I supposed to feel?
I'm not even sure how I would explain this plot of this book aside from saying it's very good and entertaining but extremely confusing at the same time.
This volume it was finally revealed what was happening (although it feels more like a hypothesis right now, rather than what is really happening),and we finally got to see the two main characters interact more.
I really like Zylith as a main character, and I feel so bad for what is happening to her. She deserves so much better, and someone needs to do something about her father.
I have so many mixed feelings on Zelan. He needs to communicate more with Zylith, I swear to god. He is hiding way too many things, and it's making it hard for me to root for me.
The romance is also confusing me because I can't tell if this will actually turn into a queer romance or if it's all queerbait. If it's the latter, I'm going to be so mad.
Overall, this is a really strong story with two compelling main characters, and I'm so excited to read more and see how everything unfolds.
Just finished reading the second volume for Freaking Romance. 😱
Volume 2 you find out that instead of living with a ghost, Zylith is living with someone from a parallel dimension. Zelan is a famous singer with a large internet following. Zylith is an aspiring comic artist trying to make it on her own.
The things I really liked about the story:
- Great chemistry between characters
- The art style is gorgeous
- The storyline is interesting
I really laughed a lot, Zylith is so funny.
Things that I think could be better:
- Some of the slang used is funny, but other times it's a little too baby talk for me.
Other than that, I am hooked and can't wait to read more! 📚 #FreakingRomance #Webtoon #Romance #Comedy
I did not read book 1 however I didn't really need to as I still pretty much knew what was going on. Though I will be getting book one so I can read it too. This is a cute story that deals with a tear in time where these two people who live in the same apartment but in different worlds seem to be leaking into each other and only they can see each other. One has a crush on the other but one big thing is if they touch each other with bear skin they disappear for a few days not being able to see each other for a while. The story itself covers some deep topics, and has some really cute art.
Captivating Cuteness. Volume two hits us with more supernatural romance, art that was absolutely beautiful and a story that makes you want more in the end.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for an advanced reader's copy in exchange for an honest review.
I adored the first volume, but this one fell flat for me - it could have been that the first volume had so much mystery, but this one seemed a bit stagnant. The arc could have used a recap instead of dropping the reader in the middle of something, so I'm assuming the arc was missing some content. Art was covered by watermark, making it hard to read.
