"Freaking Romance" continues its captivating journey in this second volume, offering readers a deeper look into the enchanting love story between Zelan and Zylith, a ghost haunting her apartment.
This installment delves into heavier themes, such as trauma and its impact on relationships. Witnessing Zylith's struggle with her abusive father, Zelan's protective instincts kick in, leading to a poignant exploration of empathy and healing.
However, the pacing occasionally falters, with some scenes feeling drawn out, and certain character motivations needing more clarity.
Overall, "Freaking Romance, Volume 2" is a great continuation of the series, blending romance, supernatural intrigue, and emotional depth to create an engaging reading experience.
This is so cute, sweet and dorky. I absolutely love the art style, the humour and the characters. I read this in a single afternoon and immediately went to Webtoon to finish the rest of the series.
I love how this Manga is adorable and funny but also has deep moments and getting over trauma. It balances heavy with light so well to keep you captivated. I adore these two and can't wait to see where they go next
Honestly I read these as they dropped via webtoons and it’s definitely a favorite of mine. It’s romance, syfy/paranormal hodge podge but it works? The characters are simple and fun, the further in the more depth they and the setting gets and it’s just a fantastic read. I’m so excited it’s been picked up for publication and to have the gorgeous artwork in book format to add to my collection. So a huge thanks for the publishers for allowing me to arc read and get to watch this collection get the recognition it deserves.
I absolutely adore the art work and drawing style of this artist. I also love how the story flows and the use of different size and style of text adds to the story itself. I am curious as to where it will and can go next.
Thank you for the ARC!
This was one of my favorite webtoons when it was running but now that there are years between us and when it was being posted I've forgotten so much of the plot. So getting to revisit it now is such a wonderful experience.
Snailords's art continues to be one of my favorite styles from the site. Their character designs and backgrounds make for some wonderful panels. Combined with the intriguing premise and heartbreaking scenes, it makes for a great read once again.
I think I will continue to recommend to new readers that they give this series some time to get a few books published because it definitely gets a lot more captivating once they get more into the how's of it all. But it definitely is worth the read and the wait!
This is the second installment in the series and the plotline is smooth and easy just like the book one. I had a great time reading this one too. The characters are amazing and the illustrations are so beautiful. Eagerly waiting for the next part in the series now.
DNF at 30%...
I didn't realize this was volume two of this graphic novel so I missed the important backstory for the characters.
Despite the screw-up on my end, I found the text to be interesting and the graphics were very pleasant.
Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC!
Thank you to Netgalley for providing the opportunity to read this before the release.
As I have said on the previous review for volume one, I adore this series. I've read the entire story on Webtoon, but I really appreciate the fact that they have started to do the "unscrolled" versions of the stories. It is much easier to read in that format. There's no loading. You don't have a pay wall for the next one. It's brilliant. That being said, this particular volume left off on a bit of an awkward spot in the story. I think two or three more episodes would have made this particular volume a bit better. I do still love this. The art is gorgeous. If you are following the series, get this.

I really love this WEBTOON - it was so fun the first volume and this just amped up the hype for me. I love the intrigue and obvious devastation to come because how can these two people be together?! But even more, I love how the story inverts tropes and doesn’t fall prey to easy outs. I also really enjoyed the complexity of our characters and their relationships with their parents. How intense it can be and also how a toxic relationship can make you feel like you’re the one in fault. Such a good story that balances serious topics with humor. Top tier!
Love this series so much!! Was so excited to see volume 2 on here! I get through these so fast and they always end on such cliffhangers. I love the personality of the main character so much! Highly recommend and look forward to the next installment of this series.
I read volume 1 one this about a month ago and I FELL IN LOVE. The story and the art style just took my breath away.
This volume picks up right where we left off with Zylith and Zelan trying to figure out how each other exists.
Now while I did love this volume the plot did turn in a direction I’m not loving. But we’ll see how it plays out in the next volume!
Thank you Netgalley and Wattpad Webtoon Publishing.
I love Freaking Romance. I will say while the whole storyline is very confusing at first. It slowly makes more sense as time goes on. I'm scared to see what will happen next.
A very Gen-Z manga/graphic novel.
I don't think I have read something like this before.
Overall, not a bad story but I feel like a lot of the concepts trying to be explained like the "interdimensional" issues with the characters were too vague to make sense. They just sort of went along with it.
The art in this series is so detailed and unique; that alone makes this series worth reading! It definitely needs to be read in order, so pick up the first volume before diving in. This volume expands a lot in the first with character development and sharing their backstories. It’s meaningful and has depth while still being comedic and suspenseful at times. Be ready for a cliffhanger ending!
More layers as we see the depth of Zylith’s relationship with her best friend and her dad. Relationship toxicity is addressed without being preachy. Humor abounds as Zylith tries to understand romance, so she create a romance book that will win a cash prize for her art.
The art palate adds to the paranormal element. The artistic shifts with internal reflection are perfect.
Absolutely love Mr. Purrfect. He might be the only one that know what is going on.
Need vol 3!!
Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for allowing me to read and review this before printed publication.
Note: I read the first part on Webtoon, so I would understand what is going on in volume 2.
Awkward would be the theme topic for this book (English teacher joke). My favorite character has to be the cat. The best friend gives me weird vibes. The dad adds a bit of thriller/horror into the mix. And I really like the fact that this story isn’t another take on the ghost and alive person fall in love kind of story (don’t get me wrong, I have a bunch of those on my bookshelves, but a girl needs something different now and then). I love the different art styles throughout the book, and how the character would “sound” different between them.
Can we also applaud how the title has become an almost catchphrase in the book? And how the author breaks the fourth wall every now and again. AND how they incorporate their name, Snailords, into building names, etc. Gotta love the humor. Can’t wait to keep reading!
Freaking Romance Volume 2 follows on directly from Volume 1 and is full of more paranormal romance and weird occurances as Zylith and Zelan try to work out what's going on and why they can see each other, plus Zilith faces her father, and her feelings for Vera. Can't wait for Volume 3!
I am very intrigued by the possibilities of where this will end. I feel like this is a less sad 'Your Name'? I like this cross-dimensional storyline a lot because it leaves a lot up to the imagination - for me, anyway. I can't find this to be predictable at all.
The illustrations are pretty too. This book caught my eye just for that alone.
Story-wise, I felt like other than her dad appearing there was no major conflict. I know she's looking for her romance and to practice dating so I wish we had at least ONE successful instance? Nothing really happened in this one.
I overall enjoyed it. The first felt more purposeful but I'm sucked in. I'm hooked. Let's go for book 3!
This was a great follow-up to Volume One, with beautiful illustrations that added to the story. It's fun to watch the relationship between the two main characters develop amidst the unknowns of their worlds.
