This is a wonderful book that children will enjoy reading and looking at, but which is also so informative. We take a walk with a young boy, his dad and dog as they visit different trees and learn how to identify them. The facts about each tree are in rhyme and its easy to imagine these becoming long remembered bits of wisdom. Beautiful poetry and beautiful artwork to match bring this book alive. There is also information at the back of the book about various trees including a photographic guide and links to explore further. This is a book to revisit over and over and to instil a love of trees in children.
I loved this! I love how nature books for children are encouraging the future generation about nature and the beauty it holds. I also love the relationship between the child and father.
This book was great! I love books that encourage conservation & care of our environment. I love that this book encourages exploring in nature, but more importantly exploring nature with a loved one! In this book, a little boy and his dad visit a nursery, and plant a tree together! This book encourages curiosity about the world around us, and how to take good care of it! Taking the time to enjoy nature & investing in our world by planting always makes me smile! I think every child should be exposed to God’s wonderful creation to bask in the glory of it!
Once again, I enjoyed the illustrations, but they weren’t my favorite. I think strong illustrations really shine in children’s books to help convey the message.
A Tree for Me by Carole Gerber.
There are amazing trees that live in our world—yellow poplar, American beech, crepe myrtle, and so many more! But how do you know which ones are which? Follow along in this heartwarming tale as a father lovingly teaches his son to identify eight common trees in a park and then surprises him with his own tree to plant and nurture. With beautiful, realistic illustrations and true facts interwoven throughout the story,
This was a lovely quick read with lovely illustrations. A great way for a young child to learn about the different trees. 5*.
What a wonderful way to learn about trees! Gorgeous illustrations throughout. Children and adults can learn from the easy to understand facts that are told in a rhyming story format. The real pictures of the trees and the “Why We Love Trees” featured at the end of the book are very informative and encourage children to expand their knowledge and continue learning about trees. I especially liked how a resource was provided to help readers learn how to plant their own tree. I would definitely recommend this book for children!
