I really adore Eloisa romances! They are the perfect swoony historical read! The characters are so enjoyable and I love that we get cameos too! Torie and Dominic were a great match. I liked how they worked perfectly together too! I loved that Dom always supported Torie and never made fun of her lack of reading. She’s smart and an amazing artist though! Tori helps nanny his twins(his sisters children). They’re so cute and fun! I loved them in this story! Torie and Dom were so great together(in and out of the bed)! I can’t wait to read the next book!! Highly recommend this one!
Honestly, I just think that Eloisa James books are better as audiobooks. Like reading this with my eyes did not have me interested at all and I felt myself glazing over. I may try this one again once I have the audiobook from the library, but for now it was a DNF.
Absolutely delightful - I could not put this down. The plot threw me a bit - Torie marries the Viscount who was jilted by her sister (sloppy seconds trope and all that) - but James did it so well. Torie is wonderful and so loveable and I came to love Dom despite his brusqueness, or maybe because of it? Very looking forward to the next in the Accidental Brides series.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for providing me a digital ARC of this novel!
This is the first historical romance I've read by Eloisa James, and I can confirm that it definitely will not be my last. I adored Viscount in Love, which tells the story of Viscount Dominic Kelbourne and Miss Victoria Sutton, younger sister of his former fiancee and an artist who is unable to read and as a result, is overlooked by the gentlemen of the ton and belittled by her family. A seemingly unlikely pair, these two start out being friends during Torie's older sister's betrothal to Dominic over a two-year period. When Dominic is jilted by Torie's sister because she does not want to become a mother to Dominic's orphaned niece and nephew - the ever precocious twins, Florence and Valentine - after his sister's death, he begins to see that Torie would make an excellent caregiver to his "children" despite her illiteracy. What he doesn't bank on is Torie's huge heart and immense talent as a painter, having underestimated her as her family and the ton has in the past.
What I love about this story is its wonderful characters, both main and secondary, and that it is extremely well-written, crafted for intelligent readers, with references to Shakespeare's plays - not too surprising, given Eloisa James's other job as a Professor of Shakespearean literature at Fordham University. Despite her inability to read, Torie's insight into Shakespeare's themes and depiction of the human condition makes her brilliance outside of books shine brightly. The story reminds us not to hide our light under a bushel and also not to judge a book by its cover, as Dominic does early on with Torie. How these two endearing characters grow individually and together as a couple is so enjoyable to witness. I devoured this book and couldn't stop smiling at the end when Dominic and Torie get their hard-won happily ever after despite several bumps along the way. I'm looking forward to reading more in this author's Accidental Brides series as the stories become available.
I received an Advance Reader Copy from NetGalley, and I am leaving my honest review voluntarily.
Miss Victoria "Torie" Sutton isn't jealous of her sister. She really isn't. Yes, Leonora is engaged to Viscount Kelbourne, Dominic, and the man is handsome but he going to be her brother (in-law). His niece and nephew? Adorable. Awkward, not "normal," and absolutely adorable. So when her sister runs away with another peer, Torie is heartbroken that her tie to the twins has been severed. That doesn't mean that she will immediately become betrothed to the viscount herself, just to be his nanny.
Dom thinks its the perfect solution though. He's not really trading one sister for another because Torie really is her own person and, if he's truthful, much more attractive than her sister. He doesn't even mind that she can't read or write.
The two do eventually marry (this is a romance, after all) and we get to watch them fall in love with each other even as they build their family.
I liked that both Torie and Dom were built out people with flaws that were both immediate and found later. I wish we had seen a bit more of the children. They weren't quite plot moppets but their personalities weren't developed much beyond that.

Opinions are my own
Eloisa James is one of my favorite authors and I love almost anything she writes. Viscount in Love is no exception. This book was the start to a new series called Accidental Brides. This one has shades of Kate and Anthony if you are a Bridgerton fan. Viscount Dominic Kelbourne has his life all planned out. He has been engaged for two years to Lenora Sutton, who he feels is the perfect wife. She is educated, says and does the right things, and fits into society. Her sister, Victoria (Torie), has a secret crush on him. One day, Dom inherits his sister’s twins unexpectedly and doesn’t know how to deal with them. Torie volunteers to help keeping her in his orbit. When something happens upending his wedding plans, the book really takes off.
This book just recently came out and I highly recommend it for your next historical romance. It will suck you in and you won’t be able to put it down until you finish it.
Loved it! not just because of the twins, but also because of the hero and heroine. It's just an amazing book and story and plot and everything. I was not expecting the last twist, which brought a lot of surprises.
Eloisa James’s Viscount in Love seems to be starting a new series titled Accidental Brides and it’s shaping up to be quite entertaining. Victoria Sutton or Torie suffers from what in our time would be known as dyslexia and reading is a challenge, so she gives all of her energy to art. Viscount Dominic Kelbourne who has suddenly found himself guardian to twins needs to replace his runaway bride. Torie and Dom are very complex characters in my opinion. One likes Torie right from the start because she truly is easy to love and that is why the children gravitated towards her from the go. Dom though, well let’s say James did a very good job of making him a selfish pompous ass. He doesn’t even truly give up his mistress until towards the end as I see it. He does not truly deserve Torie in all her beauty and loyalty. But hey it’s a book! This review was given on the ARC copy received from the Publisher via NetGalley in return for my honest opinion.
Viscount Dominic Kelbourne is surprised when he suddenly becomes guardian to two children. His fiancee’s sister, Torie, begins spending time with the children and they absolutely adore her much to his relief and he too comes to adore Torie. When his Fiancee elopes with someone else, Dominic financially forces Torie’s father to let him marry Tori instead. Tori is less than thrilled with this because while she loves the children and is deeply attracted to Dominic, she believes that he is only marrying her for the child care that she can provide as she is dyslexic and does not see herself as his intellectual equal. They enter a marriage of convenience and both come to love the other for who they truly are.
I loved loved loved this book. I struggled with the past few Eloisa James book, but this one was a breath of fresh air. Torie and Dominic were both such rich characters. Neither was perfect but they were perfect for each other. I loved Dominic’s grand gesture (yes groveling was needed on his part. I typically don’t enjoy romances involving children I found Florence and Valentine to be delightful. I loved the art references and that Torie was a great artist. I also want to shoutout whoever at Avon let Eloisa keep her hot shirtless man cover. I hate hate hate hate cartoon covers on historicals, so I am delighted every time there is a cover like this.
Thank you to Avon and NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

If you loved Bridgerton and need another historical fix with a very eligible but emotionally clueless member of the ton, A Viscount in Love is one you should check out.
It's got shades of Kate and Anthony - a guy who thinks he should be someone who meets all his criteria of what a good wife should be only to really and truly fall for her sister.
But, while S2 Bridgerton took too long with the wrong sister, this book spends the majority of time with the right couple who have all the attraction to each other but take a while for their brains to catch up with their hearts.
I love an Eloisa James read because the emotional journey is always on point. I love how she takes these two from being very protective of themselves from being hurt to truly opening up and being vulnerable with each other. 5⭐️

Eloisa James is one of my favorite authors and I pretty much love anything she writes :) This book was a great start to a new series called Accidental Brides. That was all I needed to be sucked in. The story starts out pretty complicated and just gets more delicious as it goes on. Viscount Dominic Kelbourne is been engaged for two years to Lenora Sutton, who he feels has the right background for him. She is educated in the right things, she says and does the right things, she fits right into society. Her sister, Victoria (Torie), has a secret crush on him because he is quite handsome. One day, Dom inherits his sister’s twins unexpectedly and doesn’t know how to deal with them. Torie volunteers to spend time with them and she finds that she really likes them. They are obsessed with death and very bright. Everyone else does not understand them at all. The unexpected happens and Lenora elopes, shocking everyone. Especially Dom. He needs to be married quickly and starts to think that Torie will make an acceptable wife/nanny. When they kiss and the feelings are off the charts. Torie wants to marry for love, but knows her chances are slim because she is not the perfect wife. In fact, she is dyslexic and is bullied by society for it. However, she is a very talented artist and as Dom gets to know her, he starts to realize how brilliant she actually is. Readers will start to see that Dom and Torie might actually be falling in love and the marriage will turn into something more than a practical one. I enjoyed the quirkiness of the characters and the development of a loving relationship. The dialogue is fun. The situations are unique. I also love how the author describes Dom’s physical attributes. Hellooooo sexy book boyfriend…
This book just recently came out and I highly recommend it for your next historical romance. It will suck you in and you won’t be able to put it down until you finish it.
Love this author's books and this one did not disappoint! It's full of fun, full of the chase, and lots of witty banter. Torie and Dom have a lot to handle with the orphaned children, and they make a great team. I loved the plot! Both Torie and Dom are such fun and I cannot wait for the next book in this series.
Thank you to the author for an arc!
I haven't read much historical romance in ages, but I saw this and had to try. I loved it so much, but I knew I would. It's Eloisa James. Torie and Dom are such fresh characters. I love Torie, she's such a nicer person than I would be in her shoes. She CHOOSES to be kind in the face of every mockery and slight. But she's never insufferable about it. I never wanted to shake her. She wasn't oblivious to the cruelty, like I said it was a choice to let it go. Dom was so out of his depths with her. I really enjoyed that he fumbled and erred so much with who he thought he was vs who he actually was in regards to how he saw people. The ways childhood trauma influence you is never to be underestimated even when you think you've moved past it. I really liked The Twins. Their dynamic and personalities were so fun and I liked how they decided to make their family. I can't wait for the next book.
Loved this!
Victoria Sutton is beguiled by a pair of extraordinary children, wards to Viscount Lord Dominic Alston Augustus Kelbourne.
Torie’s sister Leonora has been engaged to Viscount Kelbourne for two years. Their’s is a marriage of design. Nothing too taxing. A couple of children, social duties and each leading their own lives.
Torie is the “stupid” sister who cannot read! So not wife material. She paints bunnies and flowers.
Dominic was a child dominated by a cold father who’d trained his son to be as unfeeling as he.
Dominic's notorious sister, Lady Dorsey, had taunted her father by having affairs all over the place. Her husband was never sure if the children were his. They’d been brought up in a most ramshackle way.
I loved the list of proscribed words, composed of expressions the children used, that are declared prohibited by the Viscount and Torie. That’s hilarious!
The children became a point of contention between Dominic and Leonora. Leonora wanted the twins shipped off to the country with their dreadful nanny.
Meanwhile Torie had made the children’s acquaintance and loved them. They responded in kind, reading to her. Torie has a ferocious intelligence and an eidetic memory. She’s not the fool her family thinks! As the story unfolds we discover awesome secrets about Torie.
What we have here is a delightful rogue / wallflower romance with a touch of almost enemies to lovers slant, a careless lover, and two intrepid children.
A novel filled to the brim with James’ wonderful wit, occasions of clashing personalities, and heady romance. The chase is the thing, filled with momentous setbacks and sublime makeups!
An Avon & Harper Voyager ARC via NetGalley.
Many thanks to the author and publisher.

I needed a good HR Book in my life and this book came into my life at the right moment.
The story. Engaged to her sister, jilted, and then determined to have her. The chemistry. The sexy scenes. Yes and yes.
I really liked this book. The story was different but still fit perfectly in the historical romance genre. I fell in love with the characters and watching them fall in love.
Thank you Avon and Harper Voyager for the ARC.
Loved the story that included two orphaned children who are something else. They will keep you on your toes. Torie and Dom have their hands full with them. The author has a well written story that has twists and turns to keep you guessing.
I was given an ARC from NetGalley and the Publisher and leaving a review by my own choice.
This book has all the trademark Eloisa James items; eccentric characters, enjoyable sex scenes, and main characters that discover that they cannot live without each other. In all a very enjoyable and fast read. I especially enjoyed the twins and their relationship with Torrie and Dominic. Thank you for the ARC Netgalley.
“Viscount in Love” by Eloisa James kicks off her new Accidental Brides series with a charming and fun story about unexpected love. The book follows Viscount Dominic Kelbourne, a grumpy nobleman who suddenly finds himself the guardian of two quirky orphans. When his fiancée runs off, he decides to marry her unconventional sister, Torie, who’s more interested in art than reading and longs for a marriage based on love.
Torie is a delightful character who brings warmth and chaos into Dominic's structured life. Despite their rocky start and heated debates, the chemistry between them is undeniable. As they get to know each other, their passionate kisses and growing affection suggest that maybe, just maybe, they’re meant to be.
The twins add plenty of humor to the story, with their antics bringing Dominic and Torie closer together. Dominic’s transformation from a cold, practical viscount to a man in love is heartwarming, while Torie’s journey from insecurity to confidence is equally engaging.
James’s writing is witty and entertaining, balancing light-hearted moments with deeper emotions. The story might follow some familiar romance tropes, but the well-developed characters and engaging plot make it a thoroughly enjoyable read.
Overall, Viscount in Love is a delightful and heartwarming romance that fans of historical love stories will adore. It's a great start to the Accidental Brides series, and I can't wait to see what happens next.
Really enjoyed this book! This author never disappoints. I am always excited to read a new book by this author. Interesting characters, great plot.
This amazing romance made me laugh and made me sigh. It tugged at my heartstrings, melted my heart, stoked my anger, made me choke-up and left me swooning. Truly, Torie and Dom and their wonderful story gave me all the feels and I just cannot wait to continue this series. And I'm going out on a limb here and sending out hopes that maybe someday we will get stories featuring each of the twins getting a HEA of their own.
