Where are all my romcom lovers? How often have you read a romcom that features a divorced couple with kids? If you're like me, you'll be saying "not often at all" and that is why I'm going to say, give this book a whirl!

It is clear the chemistry hasn't faded between Marigold and Liam, despite the many years they've been divorced. This second chance, parent trap romcom doesn't only focus on the two getting together, as cute as that is. I couldn't help but be impressed at the way our two main characters coparented and maintained a healthy relationship purely for their children. Both characters were so likeable with so much history, that you couldn't help rooting for them to get back together. This was such a gorgeous story and that ending, wow!

I’ve been highly anticipating this book, and it did not disappoint! It’s a second chance romance for a divorced couple that were high school sweethearts and are parents! He never stopped loving her, despite their divorce, and ahhh! Liam always drops everything for Marigold, and I love it! And seeing Marigold slowly let Liam again was just so sweet. Honestly, FANTASTIC book! Cannot recommend it enough.

- forced proximity
- single mom
- single dad
- second chance

Marigold and Liam Wells <3 After reading the first two books in this series I was so happy to learn more about their love story, and ultimately how the two fell apart. With a bit more heavier moments with topics of some hardships Marigold faced in motherhood and their divorce, not only did this book make my heart ache, it also made my heart soar !!! Watching Liam and Marigold’s story unfold and face the love they still had for one another was so adorable and precious. Miles and Dallas are the cutest sets of twins and I adored the parent trap moment, along with the spring school carnival. Their story was a super sweet, cozy, and comforting springtime read.

“She was an open book I wanted to read over and over again”

“This was stronger, more beautiful, undying and eternal”

“What makes you so sure I ever stopped?”

This gem of a book is out now 💐

This book is a sweet, second-chance romance between two single parents who used to be married. The healing and growth between Marigold and Liam, both as individuals and as a couple, was beautiful. I loved seeing their journey from high school sweethearts to where they ended up. Juliana never fails to write the most heartwarming books 💜📖

This book has:
•Childhood friends to lovers 💕 The leads have been together since high school
•Marriage in crisis (Technically, they are divorced, but neither has fully moved on, even if they didn’t want to admit it.)
•Single mom x single dad
•Parent trap vibes
•Sunshine x sunshine leads ☀️
•Some major Noah from the Notebook vibes: The hero renovated his house to match the heroines Pinterest boards

This book was so heartwarming and swoon-worthy. Thank you to Victory Editing and Netgalley for an eARC in exchange for an honest review.

This book is perfection. I absolutely loved these characters and following them along their journey. You can definitely tell when an author is passionate about a topic because it is written so well and intentional. I feel that this book is perfect for anyone going through a rocky relationship or someone wanting to understand both point of views in a relationship falling apart. Just fabulously done.

A perfect, second chance romance where Marigold and Liam are assigned to work together on a project for their son's school. They can't deny the sparks between them and Liam pushes to resurrect their friendship while hoping to rekindle their relationship. This was my first Juliana Smith book and I look forward to reading the rest of this series.

Where oh where do I start? This is my first time reading Juliana Smith, and now I’m running to read her backlist. What a precious story of two people who give their love a second chance. I think a lot of romance readers are moms, and have probably been where the FMC of this book was. So Juliana definitely knew her audience when she wrote this. This story meant so much to me and I’ll be thinking about it for a long time.

When I say I breezed through this book? I mean it. I started it somewhere in the afternoon and finished it by nightfall, and for me that's fast.
But that's just how hooked this book had me.

I've never read a second chance romance that involved two people who had children but oh my god, this might be one of my new favorite tropes. The angst, the tension, the yearning for each other but not daring to make a move because making the wrong one would make things so much worse... 10/10.

And the boys! Dallas and Miles stole my heart in a matter of seconds and they never let it go, not even when they decided to be little troublemakers and scare their parents.

Now, I'm not necessarily a fan of kids. Not in real life nor in books or TV shows, but these damn ten-year-olds seriously gave me baby fever. Congrats.

There's nothing else to say than this book was just such an amazing read it almost felt like a gift to have it in my hands (well, on my kindle).

This was my first book from this series, but it didn't matter one bit. I have to read the rest of the series now.

I liked the beginning of this book, but about 60% it started to fall for me!
I loved getting to know Marigold and Liam and their boys in the first few chapters and it made me giggle a few times!

For me, the why of Marigold and Liam on why they got divorced and how they reached that point dragged out too much for me and that’s where I sort of started to lose interest.

Special thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an advanced copy of this book! All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I love some second chance romance. And this one was a REAL second chance. They are a married couple who's been divorced for a few years.

This is the third book in the Wells family series, and to be honest, you can really read this one as a stand-alone.

Marigold and Liam are both great people. They were high school sweethearts and super in love. Were. Now they're co-parenting ten year old twins. Liam keeps himself in his ex-wifes life by irritating her whenever they're together.

Marigold is still close to Liams family (which is nice but different since ya know. They're divorced). And now they're paired together on a project that will take a long time to finish for their son's school. Who would have paired them together?

It was, of course, super sweet. Each book I've read of Julianas has been super sweet. I enjoyed every minute of the slow burn. We know they're meant to get back together, but it takes them a while to realize that they can work together again.

The boys were great, too. And they really love their parents. 😉

I truly enjoyed this read SO much! If you like the movie The Parent Trap you will LOVE this read! The story it tells is so beautiful and so many twists that you are not expecting. I also loved how the chapters went back and forth with each point of view between Marigold and Liam. The story is so wholesome and I definitely recommend reading it. I could not put this book down!

Sometimes history repeats itself. Sometimes, it rewrites itself entirely in this second chance, parent-trap-style romantic comedy.
Stuck between a rock and a hard place, Marigold and Liam are forced to figure out if their relationship can flourish again, or will they burn out?

There's something about 2nd chance romances that hit different. Having characters with so much history really adds to the emotional impact of the love story, and the chemistry between Marigold and Liam in this one gives ALL the feels ❤️

She had me at parent trap! I grew up obsessing over that movie so when I saw this book was a modern day version of that, I obviously had to get my hands on it.

I’ve read a couple of Juliana’s books and one things for sure, she certainly knows how to write the most swoony MMCs! Liam is just the sweetest, most non toxic ex-husband I’ve ever get read of; and he always knew what to say to make Marigold’s heart melt (and mine too!). The banter with him always pushing her buttons made their interactions a lot more fun. Marigold is an absolute darling! Seeing her navigate through motherhood as a single parent and always putting her boys first made her one of my most favourite FMCs. I loved reading about both Liam and Goldie (as he liked to call her ❤️) falling back in love and giving their relationship a second chance.

I was giggling, swooning and kicking my feet throughout this book; and the little girl in me had a blast reading this story!

Rock and a Hard Place is my favourite Juliana Smith book to date. Marigold and Liam have been two characters that I've been curious about through the first two books in this connected series, and I was very keen to finally understand their dynamic a bit better.

This is such a perfect second chance romance, parent-trap style. The journey from being married, to being separated, to finding their way back to one another was so well written. Add in the complexity of having twin sons (that are actually the cutest kids ever) and this story is gripping.

Through the other two books in this series, I've loved the connectedness of the family, and how they've adopted Marigold as their own. This book just unpacks that a bit more, and shows just how supportive they are. The found family aspect is an extra cherry on an already perfect cake.

I highly recommend Rock and a Hard Place by Juliana Smith. I do think this one is best read in order though, as many of the other characters we've come across in the previous books are represented in this one.

Big thank you to the author and Netgalley for approving me to read this one!

5/5 Stars!

It's like Juliana Smith just wants to melt my heart into soup. The Wells Family books just keep getting better and better. This was the story Liam and Marigold deserved and then some. It was perfect in every way. I laughed and I cried. My cheeks hurt from smiling. This was the story I wanted, the story I needed and everything in between.

A perfect second chance romance.

The way Liam would move mountains for Marigold... OH MY GOD. All he wanted was to make sure not the twins were taken care of but that Marigold was as well. UGH it just made my heart grow 3 sizes bigger. I'm not sure I will recover from how beautifully perfect this one was.

Read if you like:
-Second Chance Romance
-Single Dad/Single Mom
-Adorable Twin boys
-Parent Trap vibes
-Forced Proximity
-NO THIRD ACT BREAK UP (WOOHOO!!!)
- heartwarming reads that will make you laugh, cry, and fall in love with another book boyfriend.

If Juliana writes it, I will read it and I will love every single second of it. AMAZING. Chef's kiss x3000

“What makes you so sure you could love me again?”
“What makes you think I ever stopped?” <3

After reading ‘Signed, Sealed, Delivered’ back in September, and it being one of the cutesiest brothers best friend books ever. I was so excited to see an ARC of ‘Rock and a Hard Place’ in my emails, I just had to devour it ASAP. I had high expectations for this book due to the last one being a hit and ‘The Parent Trap’ being one of my favorite movies, and I didn’t feel let down at all upon finishing this one. Juliana Smith writes the cutest romance, and this one was no exception! This book is based on a trope that I haven’t really read before. That trope being divorced parents thinking about giving their love a second chance. But now that I’ve read this, I’ll definitely be looking for more books like this one. This book had some beautiful quotes, the cutest kids and one of the most heartwarming second chance romance plots that I’ve ever read. This author will always be an auto-read for me!

You can just tell from the beginning of this book that despite their divorce and the sly digs/remarks that they bounce off of eachother, there was no love lost between Liam and Marigold. The way that he talks about her even though they’re no longer together had my heart melting into a sad little puddle. I was routing for their relationship with every fibre of my being, and I’m so glad that their twin sons could see the love that was radiating between their parents, even if they could not see it themselves. There aren’t many rom-coms where the communication is so mature, despite these two being divorced, the way their co-parented was far from toxic and they remained level-headed despite their confusing feelings for one another. This never changed throughout the book for drama’s sake, and I love Juliana Smith for that. I truly adore Marigold and Liam, just as much as I did Calla and Nathan in the previous book. If you’re a fan of second-chance romance, healthy communication and sweet, wholesome love then this book is for you!

New author for me! I absolutely loved Marigold and Liam and how hard they fought for each other. Super emotional and romantic. A great description of how hard it can be to make marriage work, and how beautiful the rewards are when you put in the work. Great family dynamics and wonderful characters. *I received an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

in this book, we follow marigold & liam. the once perfect relationship ended up in a divorce seven years ago.. how did they go from being highschool sweethearts & married with two (ADORABLE) twin boys to divorced, lonely & heartbroken?

i have absolutely adored this series so far! this is book 3 in the ‘wells family’. i love juliana’s writing so much! she expresses so many REAL feelings in her writing. i got through this book pretty quickly and didn’t even realise because i was enjoying it so much! 🤍

liam & marigold divorced seven years ago but vowed to be the best co-parents ever for their twin boys, miles & dallas. even though it has been seven years, they both battle with the undeniable chemistry that surrounds them.
