I adored Heir Apparently by Kara McDowell, the next book after The Prince and the Apocalypse, and it was a quick read—I finished it in one sitting!
This book follows the story of Wren, who is still processing the revelation that she may be married to Theo, the future king of England. When the paparazzi uncover their secret marriage, Wren is forced to join Theo on a trip to England. Things take a dramatic turn when their plane crashes, and the two are stranded, having to fight for survival while grappling with their unresolved attraction to each other. As they navigate this dangerous situation, Wren's resourcefulness and Theo's reluctance to embrace his royal destiny are put to the test. The book explores their developing relationship, filled with humor, tension, and emotional depth.
I was super excited to dive into this book after devouring the first one, and I wasn’t disappointed! Wren is such a fun character. She’s a problem-solver, and you get to see her skills in action when their plane crashes. Her quick thinking adds a lot of tension and humor to the story.
The writing is top-notch. Kara McDowell does a wonderful job creating an engaging plot with characters you want to fall in love with. Overall, this is a 4-star book for me. I can't wait to see what McDowell comes out with next.

I loved the first book in this series so much, so as soon as a finished I picked this up and couldn’t put it down. I loved seeing the aftermath of the comet, and what do you know, they get into another potential life ending event! The things that happen on the island and after the island seemed like such a huge stretch. I know they are just teenagers but it felt like huge overreaches with abdicating/becoming queen situations. I still enjoyed it, but it wasn’t as hard hitting and lovable as the first.

BOTH of these books are just so much fun! If you loved the first, you'll love the second too.
Thank you so much to netgalley for the ARC!

This sequel was not what I was expecting at all, especially when the setting became very Survivor for most of the book. It was still an enjoyable and funny read, though.

I absolutely loved The Prince and the Apocalypse, which is why I was so terrified to read its sequel. But I always prove myself wrong because this book was amazing and everything I'd hoped it would be! I honestly can’t stop thinking about it, and it’s so good that I stayed up past midnight to finish it and then immediately got my mom to read it as well!

Such a fun sequel! Loved book one and book two was also well done. I loved getting to know some of the background characters we only heard about in book one. Loved the relationship between Wren and Theo. Trying to make things work when they are so young and thrust into situations they don't want. Can't wait to read more from Kara McDowell!

I really enjoyed this book. I didn't even read the synopsis, I was so ready to read it after the first, so you can imagine my shock when the plane fell out of the sky. I love a good survival story, and I rarely see it in the "rom-com" format.
My expectations were met and exceeded by this book. The ending had so many twists and turns, and despite me screaming for most of it, the ending was perfectly satisfying. Very pleased with this fun, heart-warming, surprising, and unique duology.

After the cliffhanger at the end of the first book, I was so excited to read this one! And it did not disappoint. This was such a good story filled with romance, funny moments, and even moments of suspense. I love Theo and Wren! I definitely recommend this book. (Make sure you read The Prince and the Apocalypse first.)

A very interesting read. Thank you to the publisher for allowing me to read this book. It wasn't really for me, but I am sure that it will be loved by the right audience.

Heir, Apparently by Kara McDowell is the sequel to The Prince & The Apocalypse, which I’ve also read.
I devoured this book and loved it so much. I don’t know what else to say besides if you enjoyed the first book, you’re going to enjoy this one as well.

A solid happy sequel to The Prince & the Apocalypse.
Prince Theo is still being royal, and Wren is now, slowly, trying to reconcile life after not the end of the world.
But how do you, can you, ever get over the boy you fall desperately in love with when the world nearly ends? Wren thinks she can, thought she could, but maybe that's the kind of love that isn't destroyed as easily as a world ending comet.

2.5. stars. I did not realize this was a sequel when I requested it so I first had to go read The Prince and the Apocalypse. There was so much catastrophe and drama in this book, it felt a little bit like a reality show and their relationship felt a bit like whiplash. I liked the main characters but I feel like all the crazy situations they were in did them a disservice where I didn't really feel like i got to see them fall in love.

This one was so-so for me. I did like it enough to check out the author's other books and add her to my list of authors to watch for new releases, however I felt the chemistry between the two characters was lacking and could have been built out more.

Hi Everyone,
Previously on the blog and Goodreads, I reviewed the first book in this series, one that I completely loved, so I picked up the second book nearly right away. I scoured Libby, Hoopla, and other apps for the audiobook while I waited for my physical copy to arrive and was able to track down an audiobook copy to start while I waited.
SPOILERS AHEAD
Wren is home and starting to settle into the idea of going to college however, she is still technically married to the now king. After their departure, Wren followed the prince (now king) via the news, seeing her dog and her husband on television. Watching him experience the pain of suddenly losing his mother and ascending the throne. Wren knows from the news cycle that he will be nearby in Canada and she is determined to visit her dog. Wren, her best friend, and her sister pack up and head to Canada however, Wren’s sister is unaware that the marriage is being taken very seriously by the crown. Once Wren is spotted the crown and guards whisk her off, they plan to take her and her group to London to work some things out. However, on the way there the plane crashes, and now they are stranded and the flight plan was not exactly shared as it should have been. Now Wren, her friend, her sister, and a whole royal crew have to get rescued and figure out how to survive in the meantime. There is also the matter of figuring out if she is the king’s legal wife?
I really loved the first book and had super high hopes for this book and while certain parts of the story were super engaging for me. I felt that overall the stranded on the island situation went on way too long. It was clear that Wren and the prince were still deeply in love and we did not need to spend the vast majority of the story on a stranded island to see that. I think this situation could have been done in a few chapters as realistically the palace would have sent people to search for the king and his sister (as well as Wren). I still enjoyed this book but overall I wish things had happened differently. I will definitely give a third book a try if one comes out in this series as I really love Wren and the King!
Goodreads Rating: 3 Stars

This was a fun read! Even though this was a sequel and I hadn’t read the first book this book was very easy to enjoy and have a good to with! I loved the characters and the super cute romance between them! The plot was fun to read and I loved the addition of the flashbacks in their relationship! Definitely recommend checking this one out!

I unfortunately did not read this first book in this duology and really wished I did. The main characters kept referencing back to the first book and I could still follow along ok but really wished I had read it. So read book 1 first.
Otherwise, I found this to be a fun book. Their luck is terrible! Which I think is what draws me into this story. Probably the most frustrating thing about this story and why I rated it a 3 star is just the back and forth on if they will get together or not. Other than that it was quite an adorable, action filled, and a really fast paced read.

A delightful conclusion to The Prince and the Apocalypse by Kara McDowell! It was great to see Wren and Theo again, plus and the rest of the gang. If you're looking for a light dystopian book with a happy ending, Read this duology! They are fun reads!

After reading The Prince & The Apocalypse, I needed to get my hands on this one. I had to know what happened to Wren and Theo after that ending! Kara McDowell definitely came through for me.
After the events of the first book, Wren goes on a rescue mission to get her dog Comet back. Of course, Wren and Theo get caught by the paparazzi. She suddenly becomes a problem for the firm to solve and must fly to London with Theo. As Theo and Wren can’t seem to catch a break, their plane crashes into the Atlantic and they’re stranded on an island. This time friends and family are involved, and it adds a whole lot more to the story in my opinion.
I loved the angst and the will they or won’t they be together! I highly recommend to those that enjoyed The Prince & The Apocalypse.

Honestly, I feel like 2 stars is generous. I started and stopped this book so many times and I almost had it in the DNF category. I liked some parts…the main thing being the security of the crown prince was more realistic in this one. But the back and forth with the characters was not great and kind of made me mad at points. This one was just not for me at all.

Thrilling yet romantic yet funny yet adventurous and futuristic! This book has it all! I'm a fan of this author's work and this book is no exception, I would reread and recommend d to a friend!
