I love a Christmas Story. This book has such a great story of friendship and love. The beginning of the book took me a little bit to get into, since it was a slower start. However, once I got maybe 30% through the book flew by and i read it so quickly. The story is so sweet and like any good romance you know they'll end up together, but trying to figure out how they are going to make it work was so much fun.
The story has so much more then your standard romance, since it includes so much story surrounding the sense of community in Chestnut Ridge. My new dream in life is to walk through a Christmas Tree Stroll with a cup of hot chocolate, it sounds magical!
Welcome back to Chestnut Ridge - the small mountain town with a cast of quirky characters. Sheila is headed to Chestnut Ridge to spend time with her best friend, who just moved there, and help her try to win a Christmas Tree decorating contest. The town is fun, the concept of the Christmas stroll and the competition that breaks out among contestants makes this one extra fun. Add in an attractive firefighter who could be a love interest for Sheila, and a down-on-their -luck family that the town is working to keep on their feet, and Sheila might consider trading in her fast paced big city life for a slower pace.
I love Nancy Naigle books, this was a sweet Christmas story. I read Christmas books all year and this was really good.
I love this book. Nancy Naigle never fails to delight with her heartwarming books. This is a sequel to another Chestnut Ridge “And then there was you”. I love these characters. It runs full circle on emotions. Must read, recommend. I was given an advanced reader copy of this well written book by NetGalley and I am freely sharing my review.
I love this book. The people and their great big hearts! Sheila visits a friend for Christmas and finds new friends and a new purpose in life. She also finds a very special man!
I wanted a quick easy Christmas read, and Nancy Naigle delivered. She brought the magic and true meaning of the season in this book. At times it was a bit too syrupy and a bit too unbelievable, but I enjoyed it.
Oh Nancy, you did it again! It’s always a pleasure to read one of your books.
Never one to disappoint, Nancy takes us back to Chestnut Ridge Virginia to pay a visit to Ms Orene, Natalie and Randy. This time Sheila decides to pay her best friend, Natalie a visit for the holidays. Sheila gets exposed to all of the holiday magic of the small mountain town. She makes an instant connection with the local fire chief Tucker Donovan. Nancy Naigle did an amazing job with her vivid descriptions of the sights, sounds, smells and feel of the holidays. I felt like I was right there walking the streets with the characters. I actually found myself doing a little research today to see if the little towns over the border of Virginia actually celebrate the holidays like they do in Chestnut Ridge.
Always a pleasure to read one of her books.
You don't expect to like a Christmas book in May, which is when I read this. But you may really like this one. It's a pleasure to meet people you admire or would befriend, negotiating a season of pain and pleasure.
Recommended when you're in a sentimental mood or just want to relax with a good story.
A delightful christmas romance. Sheila is having a heartwarming time in Chestnut Ridge complete with tree farms, hot chocolate and tree trimmings.
When she volunteers to help the firemen, she meets Justin. Things blossom from there.
I will reread this book at the holiday season because it is just that charming.
Lovely, sweet romance story. Light without too much drama. Definitely has me in the Christmas spirit and wanting to move to a small town.
I have read many books by this author and as always, I am not disappointed in the character development or plot creation. It has a bit of a Christmas Carol moment in it. You can change the path of your life at any time if you review your choices and see them not leading to a fulfilled life.
Thanks to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for giving me the pleasure of reading this enjoyable book.
Sheila loves living in the city and is skeptical when her best friend Natalie convinces her to spend Christmas in Chestnut Ridge. She is not prepared for the close knit people of the town and the attraction she has for the fire captain Tucker. A wonderful story of community, the true spirit of the Christmas season and love.
Thanks to Nancy Naigle and St. Martin’s Press
Christmas in Chestnut Ridge by Nancy Naigle. Loved this Christmas book. This book is filled with love, romance and kindness. I love the descriptions of the town, the trees and the people The book makes you feel like you are really there.
I’ve been a fan of Nancy Naigle’s books for several years, so it was a pleasure reading Christmas in Chestnut Ridge. It’s a lovely, heartwarming story of two people finding each other at the most wonderful time of the year.
Workaholic Sheila is invited by her BFF to Chestnut Ridge for the annual Christmas Tree Stroll fundraiser. As she is immersed in all things Christmas, Sheila begins taking stock of her life and reevaluating what really matters most.
Tucker, the fire chief, rallies the townspeople to help a family devastated by a house fire. Sheila offers to help, and she and Tucker begin working closely together…and developing feelings for each other. But what will happen when the holidays are over and Sheila returns home?
This truly was a lovely read, and the author did not let me down. She writes beautiful and heartwarming Christmas stories. I was totally immersed in the spirit of the holidays in this book. It encompasses my most favorite essentials to a great read: small town, Christmas, romance, great characters, and it makes me want to move to Chestnut Ridge.
Thank you to St. Martins Press and Netgalley for allowing me to read an advanced copy.
This is a sweet clean Christmas romance. It it the stuff Christmas romance movies are made of. It is fairly predictable but that doesn't necessarily reduce the enjoyment of it cuz most Christmas romances are just that. The story is set in a charming small town which has a calendar worthy fire chief and the big city visitor catches his eye.
My favorite element in this story was all the service being rendered for those in need. Everyone wanted to help in one way or another. And the reader gets the feeling that it isn't just during the holiday season. There are good people in this community.

Christmas in Chestnut Ridge is a sweet and typical Nancy Naigle read. Perfect for Christmas, obviously, but I enjoyed reading it in the hot summer to take me away to cool merry days. Also, the cover is just adorable!
I received an advanced copy from netgalley in exchange for a review and opinions are my own.
Thanks Netgalley for allowing me to read this book. Sheila is at a crossroads in her life. She loves ger job as a real estate agent, but is missing being in a relationship. She decides to visit her friend fir the holidays and is glad she did. I loved this book.
This is the second book in the Chestnut Ridge series. I have not read the first (And Then There Was You) but this novel works well as a stand-alone. However, it is apparent from many references in the storyline, that knowing the back story from the first novel would enrich the reader’s enjoyment.
Sheila Aldridge, a highly successful real estate broker from Richmond, VA, has sacrificed her personal life by focusing on her career and micromanaging her staff. When her best friend invites her to visit Chestnut Ridge for two weeks over Christmas, Sheila reluctantly agrees. What ensues is a transformation in Sheila’s perspective of small-town living – including a closely knit community and a budding romance.
I thoroughly enjoyed the Christmas theme, the cadre of Chestnut Ridge residents, and the heart-warming examples of selfless service and generosity (without being preachy). The descriptions of the annual Christmas Stroll (a stadium full of decorated trees) were enticing. The romance between Sheila and Tucker, the Fire Chief, was realistic and relatable. It is clear from the epilogue that at least a third installment is coming in the series. I look forward to its arrival.
My thanks to the author, the publisher, and NetGalley for the privilege of reviewing this book. The opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
This review is being posted immediately to my GoodReads account and will be posted on Amazon upon publication.
The rating has been rounded up from a 3.5 rating.
Christmas in Chestnut Ridge started off very slow with some parts hard to get through (maybe too much detail in the descriptions of the ornaments and prepping for the tree). The first 2/3 of the book I did not feel connected to the story or the characters, however the last 1/3 of the book changed that. The story line picked up and it was exactly what I was looking for in a Christmas romance. I did enjoy the progression of Sheila and Tucker’s relationship and I kind of wish the story was more focused on them and not so much on the Christmas Tree Stroll.
Thank you NetGalley and St. Martin's Griffin for a copy of "Christmas In Chestnut Ridge" in exchange for my honest review.
Whenever you open a Nancy Naigle Christmas story you know that you are in for a definite treat. You always feel the warmth and the love of the season wrapped up in a wonderful cast of characters.
In this story we meet Sheila Aldridge - a real estate agency who by all accounts is a micromanager and doesn't take time for herself. She's invited to Chestnut Hills in the Blur Ridge Mountains for Christmas by her best friend Natalie. She's never understood why Natalie moved from Richmond to her late husband's hunting cabin. Her new beau is Detective Randy Fellowes and she's made a life for herself with him.
Sheila meets Fire Chief Tucker and she starts to see that there is fun and joy in life, not just work. When a disaster strikes and even the reclusive Paul (Nathalie's former father-in-law) pitches in to help a family in need with a place to stay - Sheila realizes that she also enjoys helping people, she's just never taken the time to do it. The more she helps others, the more Sheila feels the sense of community that has been missing from her life. The highlight of her visit is the Christmas Tree Stroll - which is a joy to read about.
At the end of the story several of the recipes that were mentioned along the way are printed for the readers to try at home.
This is definitely a heartwarming Christmas story that I didn't want to see end. Definitely a more than 5-stars read!! I highly recommend "Christmas In Chestnut Ridge" for the holiday season.
Chestnut Ridge is a mountain town where tree farms are everywhere and it's always a White Christmas. When Sheila's and her best friend decorate a tree in the annual Christmas Stroll she learns more about herself and her community. And she discovers this is where she wants to be. At the same time, four young children have just lost their home to a fire weeks before Christmas and the fire chief is trying to help. Sheila offers her assistance, and as the town rallies to support the family, she discovers something that has been missing in her life as she gets to know the fire chief. This book is about community and Christmas during the most magical time of the year! It is just what you'll need when it's released this fall as you prepare for the Christmas season!
