first, let me say that i LOVE erin hahn, second, let me say that this book was incredible!!!
maren and joe were the PERFECT edition to erin's little universe that she's created. i was so excited to see cameos from lorelai and craig!!! this is the perfect small town, cozy, romance book and while this can be read as a standalone, if you haven't read erin's other books - i highly suggest doing so!!!
this was seriously everything i wanted in a book and then some. i am so so thankful st. martin's press and netgalley sent me an arc! <3
I give this a solid 3.5 stars. The book was an enjoyable and quick read. I really liked the family aspect of this romance and thought the kids were so sweet. What made it hard to get into the book and really feel the romance build was how many different tropes/storylines the author had written into the book that seemed to fall flat or not be fully fleshed out and made some parts of the story seem out of place for me.
This is my first Hahn book and I am hooked. I didn't realize it was part of a series until after but didn't feel like I missed anything either. It is a feel good book, with good back and forth playfulness and kept me hooked.
First of all if you love Nicholas Sparks love stories, this is right up your alley! Maren has a very terrible very public proposal and returns to her old town where she inherited a run down cabin and bait shop. Maren plans to fix it up and flip it for a profit.
While back home, Maren runs into her brothers best friend Joe. The book is dual POV from Maren and Joe. Joes has two children one of them being autistic.
It’s a cute romance with mild spice and a happy ending.
Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC**
Be right back..running out to buy all Erin Hahn’s books!
After a very public proposal gone bad Maren returns to her childhood fishing lake where she inherited a dilapidated cabin and bait shop from her fishing mentor, with plans to fix it up and sell it. She runs into her big brothers best friend Joe who now owns and runs the family’s resort with his 2 kids Anders and Lucy after leaving the military and going through a bad divorce.
I love the dual POV in this story between Maren and Joe. Maren loves the kids first, taking Anders under her wing and taking the time to really understand Lucy and her needs. The love between Maren and Joe is so easy, almost too easy. Although they have a few bumps in the road, the love blossoms so tenderly, you can’t help but fall in love with their story. The author really brought all the characters to life in this book and they all played their parts so well! ♥️
Thanks to @netgalley and @stmartinspress for the ARC of this book! Can’t wait for this one to be published so I can add it to my bookshelf!

I think I have found an Erin Hahn protagonist that can finally challenge Annie Mathers as my favorite one of her characters. I absolutely adored Maren the opening scene to the book hooked me right away and I had to root for this woman who was so desperately trying to figure her life out. It was also so easy to fall for Josiah and his children. I just love how she wrote this man to be caring and thoughtful these two together we’re so easy-going and I just loved all of their interactions. I adored this and know I’ll revisit this story.
Thank you net galley and publisher for this ARC. This is the 3rd book I've read from Erin Hahn in this series. Her books are heartwarming and fun. I enjoyed this book.

I adore romcom, chick lit, romance novels. I really want to like Catch and Keep, but it felt flat to me.
There were parts of the book that moved very quickly...Maren says no to the proposal, runs home, apparently packs, sublets her cottage and is on the road with her dog before anyone knows she's leaving. Her brother, Liam, visits and the only thing we read about is him warning her against Joe. Her bestie comes to visit to help her renovate the bait shop and apartment and the whole visit last a page or two. These were areas that I wanted more. I wanted the characters to be more 3 dimentiomal and not just a flat.
Also, I felt like Lucy's character wasn'ta realistic protrayal. A child with autism isn't going to immediately bond with a brand new person, yet the author has Lucy leaning against and sitting in Maren's lap in the first 1-2 visits. Also, I don't think a parent would immediately bring another into a relationship with their children and bonding with the children (who had been abandoned by their mom) without knowing if that person was just passing through or sticking around.
I don't think I'll read this author again or go back and read her earlier books.
Super cute romance that's super sexy and wholesome at the same time. We love autism representation! I don't give out a lot of 5 stars but this was one of them!
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for allowing me to read this arc in exchange for an honest review!
Loved this! I kept re-reading certain parts just because I loved how the relationship between Maren and Joe developed. Sweet, heartfelt and a little spicy.
FIVE STARS! And here is why...
This is my first Erin Hahn book and it was absolutely refreshing to read a romance that had a strong female main character who was in outdoor activities, especially fishing. I was able to relate to this book on a much bigger level than most. Maren and Joe's story is a well written, funny at times, heart aching at moments, but beautifully scripted. The author does a tremendous job of bringing the characters to life and having their stories come full circle.
It is also important to mention how incredible well the author addressed and included autism in her book.
Thank you to the author, NetGalley and the publisher St. Martin's Press for the opportunity to read and review this book.
Erin Hahn is officially one of my favorite romance writers. She just does small town romance vibes the best. Even when those small-town romance vibes include superstars or country music singers lol. Having read Shelby and Lorelai‘s books I’ve been eagerly anticipating Maren getting her happily ever after. Maren’s love story with Joe and their cozy little family on their beautiful lake was everything I wanted from this book. But returning home at Maren had to deal with certain issues from her past that have haunted her for so long. I just loved how mature and honest this book was and I was so happy to get to see the other leads come back for their girl!
Thank you #netgalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This was the first book I’ve read of Erin Hahn and I am hooked 😉 The story felt very real and natural and romance was so organic. Fresh off of a breakup, Maren retreats to her safe haven in Northwoods Wisconsin. An avid and accomplished fisherwoman, she is now in possession of an old bait shop her mentor left her. While there, she reconnects with old family friend (and brother’s bff) Joe, whose family owns the resort. Joe, now a retired veteran and single dad realizes Maren is no longer the annoying younger sister. Their story develops so organically as they navigate family dynamics, past heartbreaks and future dreams. This is an open-door friends-to-lovers story.
Thank you St. Martin’s Press for providing this book for review consideration via NetGalley. All opinions are my own.
I absolutely love Erin Hahn and her writing. Every book she makes is utter gold. Maren’s story is going to win over the hearts of everyone. Maren and Joe had an amazing, healthy, authentic relationship. I loved all the side characters and their contributions to the story. Erin Hahn definitely does it again in this novel and I can’t wait for others to finally read it.
Thank you to Netgalley and the author for this copy.
Thank you to St. Martin’s Press for the ARC!
I had previously read “Friends don’t fall in love” by Erin Hahn and really enjoyed it. I was very excited to read “Catch & Keep” but was not expecting to fall absolutely in love with it! This book just had so much heart. The small town, close knit family & friends, Joe & his children, Maren & Fost, Maren & Rogers ! Every relationship in this story just pulled at my heart and made me wish I lived there & knew these people! Joe was a fantastic character who genuinely loved and cared for his children more than anything in the world. I loved how Erin truly understood the nuances of how families live having a child with autism. How Joe & Anders loved Lucy so fiercely and worked as a team to make Lucy so happy and comfortable. Also, when Lucy began building the relationship with Maren I cried with how lovely it was.
Now the love story between Maren & Joe has to be one of my favourite “brothers best friends” stories I’ve read. I don’t think I have read a story with this trope where the characters really truly felt like they so naturally belonged together. Joe said it best: “…being with Maren doesn’t feel like work. I don’t have to learn how to fit with her. We just . . . are.”
And Maren! Wow what a fantastic character. Strong, smart, independent, intensely loving, & fiercely loyal.
So highly recommended this book!
Thank you to the publisher St Martin’s Press for this advance readers copy and to NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Love the single dad troupe in this one. The setting is very cozy and reminds me of my home.
want to begin with chapters! i really really like when authors name their chapters, it feels like they really care about the book. it does not mean that books without chapter names are bad! my favorite one was “Tolerate It” i think you know why 😶
it was easy and quick read which i truly enjoyed! at first it was slow and it wasn’t catchy at all but… after that one page🤭 i did not know i was a fan of brother’s best friend trope, but i definitely am!
characters:
•kids. i loved all of them. they were so cute; they weren’t annoying or weird, and i loved every chapter with them!
•joe. he is the best dad for his kids. and no one can change my mind. he was always with them, taking care of them, supporting them and loving them as much as he can!🥹
•maren. not much to say about her. i wasn’t really interested in her past, it was confusing for me.
i like how maren and joe were always there for kids. they perfect for each other! moreover, i have to mention atmosphere in the book, so much nature and coziness! only disadvantage were length of the book and not interesting character development, other than that enjoyed it!📖
definitely recommend if you like this trope!
I ADORED Catch and Keep! It made my heart so happy. Here's why.
* The lakeside resort setting was vivid and fun. I felt like I was lakeside with the Maren and the gang.
* Maren, fresh off an entertaining breakup, retreated to the happy place of her youth to fish and start fresh. I loved how she reset herself and took time to figure out what she needed in life.
* Joe followed his heart as a young man and was now ex-military and a divorced father of two. He was doing his best to give his kids the childhood they deserved in a place they all loved but was slowly buckling under the weight of it all, despite help from his parents.
* The older brother's best friend trope was perfect! Maren quickly figured out the crush she had on her older brother's best friend as a teenager was still alive and kicking. Joe, on the other hand, was figuring out his best friend's younger sister wasn't the annoying little kid she used to be.
* I loved how Maren seamlessly fit into Joe and his kids' lives, starting by being the friend they all needed. I had a lot of respect for her in her interactions with Joe's family. It made Maren and Joe falling for each other even sweeter than it already was.
* I loved how Joe and his family made Maren part of their family and community.
*Maren and Joe were the best mix of sweet and steamy. Their slow burn romance was so swoony!
* Joe's kids were adorable. I loved them. I felt for them.
* Maren's dog, Rogers, made me smile every time he was on page.
* Everything else because I know I'm forgetting something.
Out of the three adult books Hahn has written, Catch and Keep is my new favorite. It had everything I love in a romance. Now excuse me while I go dream of summer on the lake.
A fabulous book that I couldn’t put down-I read it in one sitting! This is my favorite Erin Hahn book! Thank you to NetGalley for the early read. Highly recommend!
