Whether you’re a Rosary veteran or Rosary-reluctant, The Family That Prays Together Stays Together by Fr. Willy Raymond, C.S.C. is a lovely invitation to ease yourself and your family into this way of praying. Fr. Willy suggests praying one Mystery of the Rosary each day, completing a set of Mysteries over the course of a week. Along the way, he introduces you to the life of Venerable Patrick Peyton, who grew up praying the Rosary, received a miracle cure from the Blessed Mother, and dedicated his priestly life to helping families pray. Encouraging and inspiring words from Fr. Peyton are included in the book, and the concluding prayer for each Mystery of the Rosary is a beautiful addition to prayer. (Netgalley review)
“The Family That Prays Together Stays Together”- what an incredibly true title. I recently saw a video on Fr. Peyton’s life, which was also my first time I heard of him. I was glad to be able to read this rosary meditation after seeing how he had such an important emphasis on the rosary. This book did a great job with info on his life and mission. Each mystery is broken down and has a reflection and conclusion prayer after saying a decade of the rosary. There is also a section on how to pray the rosary for those who do not know how. The only thing I didn’t find useful was the luminous mystery section since as a traditional Catholic I pray the joyful, sorrowful and glorious only. I would recommend this to any Catholic or one that would like to further their practice into learning the rosary. The rosary is truly our saving grace and is so important as a Catholic. I also highly recommend the video on Fr Peyton’s life , it really is interesting. It’s also amazing how he went to Hollywood and was able to rally up all these actors and actresses ,who went on radio and encouraged to say the rosary, such as Bing Crosby, wow!
Thank you to Ave Maria press for a copy of this book. I was not required to write a review, these are my own thoughts.
I'm always looking for a new reflection for the rosary. I love that this one is short, and in language my children can understand. I will definitely use this one often when we pray the rosary together! Thank you NetGalley and Ave Maria Press for an advanced copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley.
This book does a wonderful job of explaining the rosary and breaking the mysteries of the rosary into four weeks and then breaking that into daily prayers/reflection Monday-Friday. I learned about Venerable Patrick Peyton and his importance to the Catholic Church.
I received a free copy of, The Family That Prays Together Stays Together, by Fr. Patrick Peyton CSC, from the publisher and Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. This is a great book for families, or singles. Learning how to say the rosary, together, or by yourself. Fr. Patrick Peyton is an interesting man, who did a lot for the Catholic faith. I really enjoyed this book.
