Anne Rice fans don't want to miss this latest dual timeline, dual POV, contemporary vampire story. Part cat and mouse game, part female friendship saga, this book features Vampire Nicola and the young American woman she turns after becoming obsessed. Full of secrets, bad ass women and a moving thriller aspect. This was tons of fun and great on audio! HIGHLY recommended! Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an early digital copy and @prhaudio for a complimentary ALC in exchange for my honest review! Rachel Koller Croft is quickly becoming a fav author - last year's Stone cold fox was also excellent!

If you enjoy books about toxic female friendships then this one is for you. I loved the dual POV’s of Nicola and Amber and their snark and sassiness. It as a fun element that they were vampires and the majority of the book took place at nightclubs. The story was clever and entertaining. I’m not really sure how to describe it – not really a thriller or horror but an edgy woman’s fiction with drama and sass. Whatever it was I enjoyed it!

Set in London across the glittering, glamourous days of nightclubbing during the height of 1970s disco to the present day, a story of toxic friendship between two female vampires, the maker, and the companion, becomes a treacherous cat-and-mouse game when one of them wants to go her own way.

This is not your usual vampire story, although lots of traditional vampire lore is woven in. It's modern with a mash-up of genres, including thriller and women's fiction, with a good dash of horror. It was campy and drama-filled, especially as the suspense built and the drama and twists landed in the second half. It focuses on the relationship between Nicola, the 200-year-old vampire, and Amber, the woman she meets in a disco, befriends, and then turns. After 50 years, although a deadly gamble, Amber wants her freedom from controlling Nicola. But Nicola has lost previous companions and holds on even tighter to Amber. Told in dual POV with flashbacks, Nicola is a compelling character, one I mostly loved to hate. And I rooted for Amber. The two of them are vivid, vicious, and vindictive. There is a hierarchy in vampire relationships, and the author uses them very well to depict the complicated dynamics at play here. An eclectic group of supporting characters and fun disco music references round out the book. If you'd be interested in a paranormal thriller that isn't too scary for spooky season, check out this one! I loved it!

Thank you to Berkley Publishing and Netgalley for the gifted ARC.

There’s nothing like a toxic female friendship between two glamorous party girls—except when they’re vampires! I was eager to love this book as much as I did the author’s debut, Stone Cold Fox, but it felt like the target audience for this one was a bit younger than me. While the story focused more on the toxic friendship than the vampire aspect, I realized that the bright, glam party vibe just didn’t resonate with me—maybe I just prefer darker themes. I’m definitely far removed from the party girl phase at this point. There were a few twists that caught my attention and broke up the monotony, but overall, I struggled to connect with the characters as much as I wanted to, which made this an okay read for me. That said, the book has a lot of potential, and I think others might enjoy it more. The author’s writing style is fantastic, and her ability to weave in sarcasm is genuinely entertaining.

🧛‍♀️𝙼𝚢 𝚛𝚊𝚖𝚋𝚕𝚎𝚜...So, yall know I go in blind to 99% of my books…I just LIVE 🎉for having barely any clue at all times. I was THRILLED to get an advanced copy of this one because it’s no surprise how much I loved Stone Cold Fox!! 🦊 I started reading & I have never had to do this before, but I had to stop & read a little of the synopsis. I just didn’t realize this was an actual vampire thriller(I never saw the fangs on the cover either #blondandblind )! I kept reading the references to 🧛‍♀️& was like 🧐. Anyhoo, once I got a tad more info I was all in & not as confused 😆🙃. This one is gonna be a smash! I just know it! The setting..ummmm, omg! You have London & it’s present day but it’s also the disco scene of the 70s/80s🪩👌. The characters, the unique plot, the dual POVs, the fashion..all were fantastic. I also will say this is a multi genre book..thriller, drama, women’s fiction, paranormal, horror..all are hit on! Def is in my top 5 of fav covers this year too! 🪩🧛‍♀️🎤

Who doesn’t love a good vampire story? I know I do! We Love the Nightlife is a fun female vampire story. In the past we follow Nicola and the story of how she changed Amber and how their friendship/maker journey began. In the present we see how Amber regrets her decisions years ago.

This one was fun and filled with glitzy glam, drama, frenemies, revenge, and small twists. Our female vamps gave just what I would expect out of vampires with an added twist which I enjoyed. A twist was that they weren’t just scoping out the nightlife to find their next meal. They were also planning to spice the night life up with their own night club. This was a great idea of a story and I had fun with the audiobook. The beginning was quite interesting getting to know our main characters and how vampires are made and how they live it up at night. There was some points within the story where the pacing slowed for me, but it didn’t take away from my interest. Towards the end there is a bit of a plot twist that snatched me right back into it and had me excited to see how this friendship/maker relationship would pan out!

One thing is for certain, I would have loved to party with these gals, aside from the whole vampire feeding/blood thing. Lol

I went into this one super excited as I've been introduced to some vampire reads this year that I really enjoyed. I really wanted to love this one more than I did. But I don't think it was the book itself, so take my thoughts with a grain of salt. I think this was a case of right book, wrong time. I didn't find myself eager to pick up my kindle to read, but I also have been very much into romances and thrillers this year. Not a lot of books outside of those genres have been able to wow me, and this fell short. Had the pacing not been a bit slow, it might have been easier for me to get into the plot. I think this one would be fun/great on audio and I will probably do a re-read via that avenue.

This one is a hard one for rate because I do think it was good, it just wasn't the book for me at this time. I think I'll start with a solid 3 starts, but that could change after I've had a few days to reflect on it.

Thank you to Netgalley and Berkley for the chance to be an early reader! All opinions are my own!

This was such a captivating read and a fresh take on vampires. I love the alternating points of view and the dips into the past. There were some great twists that I did not see coming. If you love morally gray vampires and sparkly dance floors, don't miss this one!

Thank you to NetGalley and Berkley for access to this arc!

I just love this author so much! Her books are easy to read, have witty and fun characters who are morally gray and a blast to root for!

This would be a perfect read for October spooky season! When I was describing this book to my book club, someone said that it sounded like a female Interview with the Vampire. I thought that was a pretty good analogy, though I haven’t seen the movie in years and I don’t think I read the book. But the dynamics between Nicola and Amber were so interesting, with both the elements of complexity of female friendship and the added element of vampires. The descriptions of London nightlife were fun and the plot was compelling with a satisfying ending. I would recommend this!

Thank you to the publisher - I received a complimentary eARC of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Croft really knows how to write toxic morally grey females and I am here for it. I absolutely devoured it not thinking that I would enjoy the disco era as much as I did! The character development and the way the author drops mini bombs at the end of the chapter will have you turning the page so fast! I must say I loved how dark and toxic this story was. I had no idea where the ending was going and it delivered, it was pretty descriptive— I could picture it playing out in my head.

This was such a good book about vampires of London and the complicated relationships. Nichola and Ambers friendship was so complex and complicated that I didn’t know if I was routing for their friendship or wanted it to be over. I really enjoyed the backstory to Nichola and how she became who she was and the reasoning why. This was a fun book to read that I think anyone who enjoys a little bit of the supernatural will enjoy.

Thank you to Netgalley and to the publishers for allowing me to read this advanced copy.

I wanted to like this book but could not get into it. I gave up half way thru. The pacing was too slow for me.

Read if you like:

💃🏼 Nightlife
🧛‍♀️ Vampires
👯‍♀️ Toxic Friendships
⏳ Past and Present
2️⃣ Dual POV

I was so excited to read We Love The Nightlife after really enjoying Stone Cold Fox, but I have to say that if you like one you won’t necessarily feel the same about the other as these were quite different books from this author.

I loved the vampire aspects and the past and present with dual POV as it made the storytelling quite interesting. I also really enjoyed the dual narrators for the two points of view.

Overall, if you like a mix between character and plot driven stories, toxic friendships, and the nightlife with vampires mixed in I think this book will be enjoyable for many!

Thank you so much to Beekley and PRHA for my ARC and gifted audiobook in exchange for my review!

Disco-loving vampires? Yes, please! We Love The Nightlife is about Amber and Nicola, 2 good-time girls, (er, vamps) that have been together since 1979. Only Nicola is just a bit too possesive of her BFF and holds on a bit too tightly, causing Amber to want to find a new companion for Nicola. Nicola is way too controlling and toxic and will basically kill anyone that she thinks threatens her relationship to Amber, including family and former friends. The sprinkling in of the disco-scenes and time warps will have you "thirsting" for more and Nicola's big revealing secret will come as a shock. This one has bite!

A big thank you to NetGalley and BerkleyPub for the eARC of We Love the Nightlife in exchange for an honest review.

Sadly, this one just didn’t do it for me. First and foremost, I love all things vampires, so I reaaallly wanted to love this book. While I enjoyed the setting and overarching concept, this one missed the mark for me. This book had so much potential with the London backdrop and party girl vampires, but there was just something missing. I didn’t feel connected to the characters at all and for most of the book I felt like nothing was happening. Additionally, some of the vampire logistics were left completely unaddressed. While the book was not my personal favorite, I still enjoyed certain aspects of the story, like learning about Nicola’s past. I also enjoyed the big plot twist when it came to her.

Just because the book wasn’t for me, doesn’t mean it won’t be for you! Read if you like vampires, party girls, & London nightlife!

All style, no substance, pure camp. I thought this book would be perfect for me. An unhinged revenge plot between two female vampire companions. It didn’t sparkle for me as much as it needed to. ARC was provided by Berkley via NetGalley. I received an advance review copy for free and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

A fresh take on vampires! This is a book you simply can’t miss.

Rachell Koller Croft weaves a captivating tale of two women whose friendship spans the ages, unraveling as secrets and lies emerge with a vengeance.

The novel opens with a compelling hook: “I should have known the party was over when she casually suggested killing my husband back in 1981.” This line immediately draws readers in, and from there, the story unfolds beautifully.

We witness how Nicola and Amber meet—maker and companion—and how their relationship evolves. What begins as a vibrant friendship filled with all-night partying quickly turns sour for Amber, who yearns for an escape. As she plans her departure, she uncovers Nicola’s past sins, which Amber finds impossible to forgive.

Through alternating points of view, the author crafts a narrative that prompts readers to choose sides, skillfully employing an unreliable narrator to heighten the tension.

We Love the Nightlife ranks among my top vampire novels. It’s a fun read that delves deep into the innate human desire to belong, no matter the cost. I highly recommend this book to anyone seeking tales of vampires, misguided friendships, and obsession.
