I really adored this book. I am a sucker for single dad romances, and loved Heartless by Elsie. Finding out the entire series is just single dad after single dad (?) Yeah, I’m sold.
Cora bonding with Ford & Rosie was great. Ford’s character was so soft I wanted to hug him. Rosie was a brat and I loved her. Just so much small town goodness! I normally hate small town because everyone is always up in everyone else’s business, but this one was super good.
I did not like how they swore up and down they hated each other or were enemies for a hot minute, however, because they literally never ever hated each other or were enemies. I seriously don’t understand the whole enemies thing bc never once was it explained? They bickered, yeah, but they weren’t enemies and clearly were just goofy friends lol
Anyways, I really loved this one! Will definitely be excited to see West’s book.
P.S the names of the characters? Golden. I love their names so much.
No one writes small town romances like Elsie.
Ford has been bestfriends with Rosie's older brother since they were kids and his world has just been turned upside down after finding out he's a father to a 12 year old. Rosie finds herself back in her hometown after her professional life shatters and is now working for Ford. I really enjoyed the dynamic between Ford and Rosie, they have this sort of frenemies vibe. Their banter, the tension, and teasing was a lot of fun. And the chemistry between them was explosive. They were kind of made for each other.
Cora is Ford's 12 year old daughter and basically his mini-me. I loved her relationship with both Rosie and Ford and seeing each one transform throughout the book was special. There were also a lot of other great supporting characters whose romances I can't wait for.
This was a very character driven novel, which worked out just fine because our main characters were so much fun. It took a bit for me to get fully invested, but in the end Rosie and Ford managed to steal my love.
Yet another 5 star read but are we even surprised?
Elsie does not miss when it comes to the single dad/small town romance trope. You would’ve had to rip my kindle out of my hand with this one because I could not put it down.
After Rosie has been living in the city for years and after losing her job, she’s back in Rose Hill trying to figure out her life. She wasn’t planning on working for Ford Grant but here we are.
Then there’s Ford mf Grant. World’s Hottest Billionaire according to Forbes. Also a new single dad. Well…after a young girl claims he’s her biological dad. Add to the storm that is already starting in his life, sprinkle in Rosalie Belmont. His best friend’s little sister…and the girl who has been driving him wild for years.
These characters were everything and really made the entire book. The book gave us country but not cowboy. Billionaire romance but make it rustic. The BANTER?? The enemies to lovers vibes?? This book genuinely had it all for me.
I can’t wait for this to make it into every readers hands!
One of Elsie's spiciest yet, and also one of my favourites yet. I INHALED this book, and didn't want it to end. If you just need a break... if you just need a hug. Here you go.
- small town
- enemies to lovers
- brother's best friend
- single dad
all of these things and so much more.
So happy for a new series from Elsie Silver. Enjoyed this read and getting attached to Rosie and Ford. Loved the brothers best friend trope and their banter and chemistry. Can’t wait for more!
Miss Elsie Silver… YOU DID IT AGAIN. Absolute perfection from start to finish. I am a simple girl, and when I see an Elsie book, I know it is going to hit. But this one HIT different. I feel like this was the perfect start to this new single dad series and I am absolutely clamoring at the bit for the next one already!!!
Less than a week til release day ahhhhhh!! 🥰🫶🏼
This is my first Elsie Silver book! I’ve heard a lot of excitement surrounding this title so I was thrilled to be autoapproved to read.
I really love the history these two characters have in the past. It helped with the angst considering they both have crushes on one another.
The angst and tension was off the charts! The steamy scenes were really good! They made sense and were multiple pages long.
I’m really excited for the next one in this series!
A great start to a new series from Elsie Silver. I absolutely loved the main characters and their relationship.
This book handled a sort of bizarre set up very well, made it actually feel believable! I really enjoyed the Ford character and was concerned initially about how Cora would be handled, but Elsie "took care of me" and all was well. Very frequently spicy and more than I was in the mood for, but this is a good start to a series with lots of potential characters to explore in future books! Thanks to NetGalley for an early copy. Fans of Elsie (and Tessa Bailey I think) will absolutely enjoy this book!
I have SO MANY feelings right now. Wow. 5/5 ⭐️! This story hooked me from the first chapter. The writing is (always) amazing, the characters are incredible, and the PLOT! Guys. I’m not kidding when I say it is perfect.
First, I NEED to talk about Ford. This man makes up for every crappy dad in the world with his words and actions. He takes in this 12 year old girl and shows her how to be compassionate and honorable. I have never loved a male main character more than him. He might be my favorite I’ve read.
Cora was also the shining star in this book. Her witty responses and sassy teenager angst was amazing. She made me laugh and just fall in love with her like Ford did. I definitely cried to their bonding moments.
Okay and now the LOVE STORY. My freakin’ heart!!!! Rosie and Ford were made for each other. The fact that their new boss/employee job really started with Ford bringing her childhood journal to her when she thought it was lost? I mean…. C’mon. And then she shared journals with him giving us some flashbacks that I LOVED! And the emails that they shared, which was basically hilarious witty banter that I wanted more of. I could seriously talk more about their love for each other. It was just.. pure.
Hands-down my favorite book Elsie has written. HIGHLY recommend.
