I thought this was very good and I will have to add this to the shop shelves. Thank you for the chance for us to review.
A half-fae woman with no magic finds herself failing upward to her destiny, with no shortage of love interests, she stops at nothing to do what she thinks is right for her family and friends.
I wasn't into the New Adult story at first, especially since the whole plot gets driven forward by the FMC's "bad choices", but I finally got into it when she sets off to find the other 4 crows.
I wish the author had a different title that didn't ride the romantasy hype train.
I understand why a lot of romantasy books/series are being rereleased (ACOTAR), but House of Beating Wings could've used a good editing. I found Fallon absolutely insufferable and really had to force myself to finish.
I enjoyed this book so much I bought the first three books and am excited to continue the series. It was different and nice to see my first name as a main character. She was a fearless and loyal MC and I will be recommending this series.
I really wanted to like this book, but I found the main character, Fallon, incredibly naive and in my opinion annoying. I felt like this re-release was trying to find the Maas audience and love but it is way to long and also could have use a good editing.
This is a longggg book, I think a little too long but I still really enjoyed it! I think the beginning could've been tightened up a bit so the set up for the story was smoother. I couldn't stand Dante from the beginning, he gave me the ick, so I was very excited once Lorcan showed up, and to no surprise he stole my heart!! I HATED the sex scene with Dante and Fallon, it was so uncomfy to read, obviously that was the intention but it was still really hard. I feel like the second one is going to slap, and I can't wait for more of Lorcan and his little bird!
I loved the writing and the characters for this story and I wanted more. It was such an easy world to dive into.
Thank you to Sourcebooks and Netgalley for my advanced copy.
I was so excited by the premise of this book. I love most everything fae, so I was excited to see this re-release bring light to it while illuminating Italian heritage. Unfortunately, I had a hard time connecting with Fallon, the main protagonist. She felt juvenile at times, and while I appreciate the love she has for her mother and Nonna, I couldn't understand her motivation for half of the choices she made, even early on in the book. This one wasn't for me, but I can see how other romantasy readers would enjoy this greatly.
As soon as I began reading House of Beating Wings, I was completely absorbed. My heart was grabbed by the magic of this magical world filled with fae and I was unable to let it go. Amidst the pages of this book there were moments of danger and heart-stopping moments. There were times when compromises were made and consequences attached.
I thought that House of Beating Wings was an amazing start to a new series of books as I could see the characters and story-line leaping right off the pages. With a richly imagined world, a dark and lush storyline, and characters who were well written and well thought out, House of Beating Wings was an awesome start to a series.
The romance in this book will keep you on your toes, I found it very fascinating how the story unfolded. As I vacillated between Antoni and Dante, I liked both of them for different reasons and couldn't decide which was my favorite outcome.
The characters and plot of this book kept me glued to the pages and it consumed every spare second I had to read. The ending left us right where we needed to be, but I can't wait for the next book to come out. I need to know what happens next.
During the course of the story, my heart was pounding hard and I was beyond excited. It was absolutely brilliant, and I was completely captivated! House of Beating Wings would be a great read for anyone who enjoys slow-burn romance, unique magic systems, and the ever so loved 'touch her and die' vibes.
Thank you NetGalley and SOURCEBOOK for providing the eARC.
The author did an excellent job with the plot and keeping the majority of the characters unique while being sympathetic. I adored the unique world-building that included Italian elements. I am really excited to learn more about the magic system and the kingdom of Luce in the upcoming book because I was so engrossed in it on the first book!
Sadly, I really wasn't fond of the female main character, Fallon. I found her obsession irritating since she was so ignorant and preoccupied with her interpretation of the meanings of the prophecies. She had the attitude of a cranky teenager, and I couldn't tolerate it. The romantic scene with Dante and her obsession with him also didn't sit well with me.
Nevertheless, I must admit that I genuinely adored Lore! Definitely one of my favorites, and I genuinely can't wait to see more of him in the upcoming book. I found him to be quite fascinating, and after we got more of him, I thought the tale really took off.
I really enjoyed the side characters, particularly Sybille and Phoebus. I really enjoyed Phoebus' story and I'm hoping the second book has more of his romantic side story.
I believe that if you can look past the main character, you will enjoy this book a lot. I hope to she development of her character in the next book, that would make this series so much better.
This is my first by this author though I have a different series in my tbr. I loved the premise of this. Our FMC, Fallon, is not sheltered. But she is naive. She’s been in love with the fae Prince for ages. But she lacks the pointy ears of the full fae and, as such, is a second class citizen. She did annoy during the first half of the book. I did enjoy her friend with the sea serpent. Then an oracle tells her of a quest where she can become queen. The story picked up for me the longer the quest went on. I thought the magic of the world was interesting and the crows even more so. I’m very interested in Luce and I’m hopeful for a little more growth from Fallon. I will definitely be continuing with this series.
Thank you to Sourcebooks Casablanca for the arc. All opinions are my own.
What a ride! I had no idea I needed a story about Crows in my life, but I absolutely did!! I loved that this was a unique take and not the typical romantasy. The writing is fantastic, the story is fast paced and I was pulled into the plot right away. The world building is well done and I really felt for Fallon and her friends. Lore….phew, can’t wait to see more of him in the next book. All around fantastic adventure and I highly recommend!!
GIVE ME MORE OF THIS. This was SO GOOD. WHY did I sit on this book for so long?? I have a Bookish Box edition that I got through my adult subscription box. I looked at it for what must be over a year now. Kept putting it off. I should admit, I'm a sucker for a good cover and maybe that cover just wasn't it (spoiler alert, it wasn't). I much prefer this cover!
To the actual bones of the book. I was so scared of a love triangle but while it was a slight one, clear boundaries were drawn. Usually early on, I know *exactly* who I'm rooting for. House of Beating Wings? Nope, not a clue. I kept wavering back and forth between Dante and Antoni and oooooh then Luce pops up? Well, we all know who I went for by the end of the book.
I'm thoroughly enjoying the world building, I love the slow build up a series allows us. Some things I'm able to predict and others are coming out of left field and I LOVE that! Crow Shifters? Who knew.
I can't wait to continue reading this series. I absolutely devoured it.
There were a few things that pulled me out, like we're clearly in a made up world and languages are made up, but then they'd traveled a kilometer. Initially I thought this was out of character, but I guess my American is showing because upon a Google search, I see European countries adopted the metric system as early as 1795, so I guess kilometer threw me off because it's modern to me. There were also a few other phrases that threw me out, not enough to put it down. Also, it took me a hot minute AKA (A few hours) to convince myself to read this because the introduction with the pronunciations, translations, and war histories made me absolutely dread diving head first into what appeared to be high fantasy. Joke was on me because it read so beautifully and I really didn't even need those first few pages because it was written well enough to understand everything. So once I got past that, I ate this book up!

An interesting Cinderella sort of retelling. Fallon is a half-human/half-faerie who lives with her faerie grandmother and mother. When she's a young teenager, Prince Dante gives her her first kiss, and she's taken with him from then on. An oracle tells her that she will be Queen one day, so long as she collects these certain relics to overthrow Prince Dante's brother, the King.
While Fallon claims to love Dante, she seems to more love the idea of their eventual betrothal. He seems interested in her, but no more interested than he is with other exceptionally beautiful women. He is still his brother's man.
This world is full of twisted political faeries, monstrous creatures, and humans kept as one step above slaves.

House of Beating Wings blew me away after such a slow start that had me contemplating dnfing. I'm so glad I didn't because I absolutely loved this book. There was lots of adventure, intense and edge of your seat, heart in your throat moments with some twists and turns among other things. This book was such a delight to read. I loved the world building with its Italian influences and the magic system. They were both interesting, intriguing and unique as were the characters. I can't wait to dive headfirst into the rest of this series. I very highly recommend it.
This is a unique and interesting fantasy book. There is some romance but it’s not the main point of the story. I’ll immediately jumping into the next book.
Thank you to NetGalley and Sourcebooks Casablanca for providing the ARC.
I really wanted to like this book, but I found the main character, Fallon, incredibly immature to the point of annoyance. Her obsessive infatuation with the prince was grating most of the time and I really couldn't wait to move past it all. The Crow Kingdom was interesting and those who want a shadow daddy will love Lorcan. But I really just felt like this book really fell flat.
Not my favorite, but I can see why some people will enjoy it.

You know, i didn't expect myself to jump into this series and be hooked the way i was but good god here i am.
Fallon is such a naive girl that half of me wants to rip my hair out but also shake her into realizing things & to stop trusting a certain someone (cough cough screw you Dante). The world building for the book was super easy to get down with but also kept me wanting more & to not stop no matter what time of day or what i should've been doing. I'm really excited to see how things will morph with Lore and Fallen but also to see if asshat keeps his word.
This book was a wild ride! I love fantasy books with Romantasy being my favorite. The last thirty percent of this one was PERFECT!
This one made my little romantasy-loving heart so very happy! I mean, I’d heard so much love for this series for so long, it was only a matter of time before I snatched it up to read myself. We’ve got multiple stages of love interests a la TOG with a birdman of an endgame. Well, what looks to be endgame. Whatever the case is, I’m loving the layers being woven into this fantasy. It’s giving enemies to lovers fated mates, but at the same time lovers to enemies origin for her Prince. And I am here for it 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I will say the beginning attitude and obsession Fallon seemed to have toward her Prince got a bit grating at times. But I also understand she’s young, and this is the first book in the series which means there’s bound to be growth. I mean, we did already start to see a bit of it in the latter half of the book as Fallon goes on her journey collecting iron crows. Fallon may have been wearing rose colored glasses when it came to her prince for a majority of the book, but the trials she goes through on her journey and a certain crow are starting to create cracks in those lenses.
And that gosh darn crow! I won’t say his name because that may be a spoiler for those new to the series, but dang did he steal my heart for the portion of the story he was a part of. I cannot WAIT to see what comes from his and Fallon’s interactions in the sequel(s). I want to know more. I want to experience more of this world and learn more of its lore and watch how these main characters develop within it.
