Thank you Netgalley, the author and publisher for my ARC!
I did enjoy this book, though this time I have only read part 2 (read part 1 a couple of months ago) . Saying that, I will read both books in this duology sometime in the future. This book is as action packed and as cryptic as book 1. With the time between reading books 1 and 2, I had lost some momentum with the plot (which is why I will reread in the future) and the switching between characters and locations was confusing and perhaps a little irritating. The book did come together though as it progressed and it kept my interest.
I think the choice of a two in one edition is a good one, I`m not sure about the two volumes, neither particularly long. With a couple of tweaks, a single book might have been better ?
Thanks to Net Galley and the publisher for this ARc in exchange for an honest review
A fabulously written gripping story that was a pleasure to read. I would absolutely recommend this book, it was brilliant
A decent read, whilst not one of those books that makes you want to keep turning the pages as you want to find out what happens next.
I had read the first book in this series and then the Author reached out and asked if I would mind reading the next book, conclusion of the first part I had already finished. So I read the duology from the beginning. I liked the mystery and the very thought out plot. Thank you JD Wood for the opportunity to review this book.
Normally, I love a good mystery, but I felt bored the whole time reading this. Not sure why, but I found my mind wandering while reading it, not retaining anything that happened. I didn't really find myself caring about the characters and was happening. It wasn't a bad book, but just wasn't for me personally. I received an advanced review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily and honestly.
Happy to have received both books so that I could keep reading rather than be left hanging! It's a gripping, fast-paced story that keeps you engaged most of the time. It's complex in the sense that you want to keep reading to figure out things. The main characters are interesting. These two books are on the shorter side (for me) but there is so much happening! This was a great book to read inbetween more serious (heavy) thrillers.
Read more like a spy novel than a cop story. Wasn’t too gripping. Overall decent but nothing special. For some reason the righting seemed “boring” even though the story wasn’t bad.
Thank goodness for book two as I was on tenterhooks after the first instalment. This is a truly talented author who has created a series which you can really get yourself lost in. There is enough detail to be satisfying while leaving enough grey area to keep you wondering what next…
I read the first book. Loved it. Then had to wait patiently. Unlike me you don’t need to wait for book two because this duology brings both books together, now! Exciting, fast paced crime/espionage thriller. Thank you to BooksGoSocial and NetGalley for the ARC. The views expressed are all mine, freely given.
Great series! These books were like watching a Tom Cruise or Bond movie!! Lol They had great suspense, intrigue, action packed, murder, mystery, MI6, bad cops, fantastic shootouts, high speed chases, a few who done it and some crazy twists and turns! The storyline was very interesting and kept me glued to my Kindle! I highly recommend reading this book and series! They're well worth reading! Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for sharing this book with me!
This book was a great duology to begin the Cal Harrison thriller series. You really can’t read one without the other as our first book ends on a cliffhanger before the thrilling mystery of the girl on the boat is resolved and this storyline gets its full conclusion across the whole duology.
JD Wood has a great writing style that is descriptive yet easy to follow. The tension in both books across this duology feels very natural and kept me gripped the whole time while reading.
For any fans of crime thriller I HIGHLY reccommend giving this duology a go as I’m sure it will suck you into the plot the same way it did me.
