Caterer and former Met police officer Jodie "Nosey" Parker and her fiance, DCI Nathan Withers, reluctantly agree to help run a food truck at a multi-day seaside music festival. Jodie's almost 16-year-old daughter and her mother are along as well. When a member of the headlining band dies under suspicious circumstances, Jodie and Nathan are thrust into an investigation to find the culprit.

This is one of my favorite cozy mystery series. And Leitch delivers another well-plotted, quirky, intriguing mystery with great characters and witty dialogue.

A closed-circle mystery, the music festival campsite was an interesting setting. It presented a few challenges to the investigation and to Jodie as a parent, as her teenage daughter was attending the festival. Leitch shows Jodie juggling and thinking about her many roles: mother, romantic partner, daughter, caterer, and sleuth, making her relatable. Jodie's internal monologues offer observations that are insightful and witty. Jodie and the recurring characters are warm and welcoming, and her mother is a hoot! I love spending time in Cornwall with them.

I also enjoy the dynamic between Jodie and Nathan. Their partnership is refreshing as Jodie works with law enforcement and is part of the official investigation in an auxiliary manner. They complement each other well, sharing light-hearted banter and sweet chemistry. Because of Jodie and Nathan's professional backgrounds, there's also a nice dash of procedural mixed into this story while remaining cozy. This was great fun and kept me turning the pages. I can't wait for the next one!

Thank you to Netgalley, Harper Collins UK One More Chapter for the free book!

The "Nosey" Parker Mysteries #7

Just along the coast from Penstowan, the local festival has filled the area. Former Met. Police Officer Jodie "Nosey" Parker has agreed to step in and help run the Pie Hard food truck, along with her rather reluctant fiancé, DCI Nathan Withers. As they prepare for a weekend of camping and being elbow deep in shortcrust pastry, Jodie hadn't bargained on witnessing a fight between members of the lead band. But when the body of one of the band members is found not far from the campsite, Jodie finds it hard to believe it was an accident. Epically when the other members had so much to gain

I'm loving this cosy murder mystery series. Jodie and her fiancé, DCI Nathan Withers help a friend run the Die Hard food truck at a music festival. We know that wherever Jodie is, a murder takes place and this time it's a member of the lead band playing at the festival that dies. Jodie's daughter is attending her first festival and Jodie wants to keep an eye on her. But it's the argument between the band members she was keeping an eye on. This book has a well-thought-out plot, it's filled with twists, and it held my attention throughout.

A cosy ,crime mystery set during a music festival in Cornwall. I loved the setting but the multiple characters got a bit difficult to keep track of.

Lovely cosy mystery set in Cornwall at a festival. Combines food, music, friendship, love, an hilarious grandmother and a cute dog. In short, everything you need for a perfect afternoons reading.

Another really enjoyable book from Leitch. As always, a well written plot with quirky characters. This book is the latest Cornish, Nosey Parker series and should be read in order. In this book, Leitch assumes the reader has read the previous books and only gives brief reminders of the characters. Jodie and her partner, Nathan are running a friends pie stall at a music festival. There is a suspected murder so Nathan, the local DI coordinates his team and Jodie being an ex-copper can't help but get involved. There is gentle humour in the book and a lot of love between Jodie, her mum, daughter and Nathan as well as her friends.
As the murders in these books always takes place at an event that Jodie is catering, I hope the next one is not a murder at Jodie and Nathan's wedding.

(3.25/5 stars) This is my fourth Nosey Parker mystery novel and I would say that it's not quite my favorite (I managed to guess who the killer was pretty early and was proven right), but it's still a good cozy mystery. I keep coming back because the stories threaded throughout the series are just too nice and I enjoy the characters enough to keep reading. They're all so likeable!

Fiona Leitch’s latest cozy mystery in The Nosey Parker Mysteries series is The Cornish Campsite Murder. The author mixes a murder mystery with a police investigation in a twisty plot. This seventh book in the series is infused with excellent world-building, compelling characters, and a well-written story that kept me turning the pages.

Jodie ‘Nosey’ Parker has moved back to her home town of Penstowan in Cornwall after leaving the London metropolitan police force. She has retrained as a caterer. However, this weekend she and Detective Chief Inspector Nathan Withers are running a food truck at a music and surfing festival for a friend. Josie witnesses a heated discussion between members of a band and later that night, she, Nathan, and friend Debbie, find a body on the beach.

There are some books where it feels like readers are catching up with old friends. This is one of those series. Jodie’s sense of humor and warmth continues to shine in this story. She is a likeable and friendly character with a need to investigate that I continued to connect with. While she loves music and going to concerts, she doesn’t like some of the accommodations at festivals. The secondary characters continue to develop. In this case, we saw more growth in Nathan, mom Shirley, and daughter Daisy. The chemistry between Nathan and Jodie creates a fun dynamic. Their Pomeranian Germaine continues to add cuteness and stress relief at various times. Instead of only quaint characters, this cozy has several realistic characters that add to the depth of the story.

This well-plotted story draws readers in and doesn’t let go until the final word in the book. The small-town atmosphere of the series was expanded in this one with the festival being held near the town and bringing in several new characters. The story had several twists, a few red herrings, and a surprise near the end. However, the murderer was too predictable. As always, having a sleuth that isn’t an amateur continues to bring depth to the novel that can be lacking in some cozy mysteries

Overall, this is an entertaining story that quickly drew me into Jodie’s world. It was a fun, appealing, and delightful read with a solid mystery to unravel and humor sprinkled throughout. Themes include friendship, family relationships, family, murder, greed, trust, addiction, and much more. Relationships continue to play a major role in this series. A recipe is included at the end of the book.

I recommend the novel to those that enjoy the genre. It was a fun and relaxing read and I can’t wait for the next book featuring Jodie and her family and friends. For more enjoyment, the books are best read in order, but this can be read as a standalone.

HarperCollins UK, One More Chapter and Fiona Leitch provided a complimentary digital ARC of this novel via NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions expressed in this review are my own. Publication date is currently set for June 28, 2024. This review was originally posted at Mystery and Suspense Magazine.

I think that this book has been the best of a really great series so far. Ex policewoman Jodie “Nosey”
Parker and her policeman fiancée are helping a friend by manning his Die Hard themed pie truck at a local festival. By chance her mother is also there in a glamping yurt with her new bff and her daughter is camping with the masses watching local and National talent.

By chance a band that Jodie idolised in her teenage years are taking the stage with the lead singer rejoining them for the first time in many years. Sadly before that he pulls out and the other band members are pushed down the billing, not long before the singer is found dead on a local beach.

Of course Nosey Parker is not able to keep out of the thick of the investigation and helps the police solve the crime.

Great writing, lots of humour and brilliant characters which have been growing in appeal since book 1 in the series. The descriptions of the cast and the area and spot on and I can’t wait for the next instalment.

Thanks to Netgalley, the author and the publisher for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

Summer is the time for British cozy crime.

I love this series of books. Not too gruesome but still gripping enough to keep the reader engaged from start to finish.

This is my second 'Nosey Parker' mystery and I enjoyed it so much that I'll be back reading all the other books to catch up!
The thing I love most about this series is the sense of humour woven throughout all the dialogue. (Especially the recipe and authors note at the end!)
Jodie is a fantastic character and I like how the author has broken moulds with her not quite conforming to a host of cliches.
The whole story wraps up within a few days with the exception of the epilogue or last chapter. It is a slow paced book but a lot is packed into it. It revolves around a music festival atmosphere and is quite novel.
There was a point that I knew exactly whodunnit quite early on due to a witness in one of the tents and am surprised that the characters didn't consider it earlier. Must have been too pie-drunk!
All in all, a great installment and if I had known that the author spit them out at such fast intervals, I would have looked for the second one a lot sooner.
Thanks to Netgalley and the author and publisher for a temporary copy in exchange for an honest review. It has been added to Storygraph and Goodreads already.

I absolutely love this series of books and was overjoyed to receive an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I'm pleased to say it exceeded expectations. A wonderfully warm and funny cosy murder mystery. It's like a warm hug in a book. I can't wait for the next installment.

A feel good cosy crime novel. Not too taxing on the brain. Entertaining and a nice quick easy read. Perfect for holidays and by the pool.
Josie is a bit annoying but it's forgiveable

I've read a few of the series now and love the characters so was pleased to jump back into their lives! There is always a twist on what is going on and does feel an unsafe place to live with the amount of murders which happen!

Loved the book and a great holiday read.

I originally requested this book because of the cover and the cozy mystery vibes. The story follows a retired police detective and her fiancé, a current detective, as they run a food truck at a popular music festival. A band member turns up dead after Jodie overhears an argument between bandmates.

Initially, I wasn't super interested in the music festival scene, but the food truck setting grew on me. This book is also the 7th book in a cozy series. While I likely would have enjoyed it more if I had started with an earlier book to get some character development, this read just fine as a standalone.

Overall, it was a quick, cozy read with a nicely played out plot line!

The latest novel in a series of “cosy murder mysteries”

A twice-retired detective sergeant attends, mainly in order to sell meat pies, a music festival site accompanied by her teenage daughter, her mother, her dog, and her fiancé who is a serving detective chief inspector. The festival is well-described and comes across as a cheerful Cornish parody of the larger, grander, much more earnest and hippy-infested, Glastonbury festival in neighbouring Somerset. It is almost certainly meant to and has much gentle fun with this theme.

There then ensues a murder (of course) a drink-spiking, a kidnap and unlawful imprisonment.

There are some (very) faded rock stars, adults bravely taking an enlightened view of teenage soft drug consumption whilst consuming rather more meat pies than enlightened medical opinion would countenance these days, an obvious suspect whom no-one really wants to be guilty and a motive hidden in the mists of time and on the other side of the Atlantic. These are good ingredients for a good story, and this is.

Caterer and former detective Jodie Parker and her partner DI Nathan Withers were supposed to be on holiday in Paris, but instead find themselves offering to help out a friend by manning his pie van at a three day surf and music festival near their home town in Cornwall. Jodie’s mother and her teenage daughter as well as a host of her friends will be at the festival and she hopes she and Nathan will get some time off from baking and selling pies to also enjoy it. She is particularly delighted to discover that a rock group she loved as a teenager is performing. However, when an ex-member of the band is found dead on the beach Nathan is roped into the investigation and Jodie can’t help but do some sleuthing of her own.

This is a fun cosy series with plenty of humour and a group of delightful characters, including a cute fluffy dog. The police must not only hunt for the murderer before the festival finishes and everyone disperses but also find the motive by re-examining events from the past. Some good twists keep the plot interesting.

This series really does get better as it goes along. A perfect holiday read, humour and mystery. A super read.

Jodie is now once again former-police, and sticky strictly to catering....how is she to now that filling in for a friend selling pies at a music festival, is going to put her and fiancee Nathan (actual police) on the scene of a murder? She just can't help it when bodies fall into her orbit! This is the 7th book in the
series, finds Nathan and Jodie both trying to have a catering working vacation, while keeping an eye on teenage Daisy and her friends (cause a mom has to do what she has to!), only surprise, her Mom is also on scene with her bestie, and then here come Jodie's besties. It's hard to to get your crack team of nosiers into investigation, when they're right there where things are happening! It's a fun romp in the series, and there is much guessing as to who is the actual murderer, as more and more info about the band's history comes out. If you love cozy's with a police twist, this is the series for you!

Jodie 'Nosey' Parker, ex-police officer, is persuaded to run a friend's food truck at a music festival in Cornwall. When the lead singer of an old rock group is found dead Jodie can't help but get involved in the investigation.

The Cornish Campsite Murder is the seventh book in the Nosey Parker cozy crime series by author Fiona Leitch. I've long been a fan of this series and feel as if the characters have become friends, having seen them evolve over the series.

Jodie is astounded to discover that a recent dinner she catered was hosted by Caz Harper, the bassist of a rock group she idolised as a teen. Caz, along with some of the other members of the band, have decided to perform at the local music festival. The group are unable to use their original name or much of their old material following an acrimonious split with the band's lead singer, Lee Roskill.

When Roskill's body is discovered the following morning the remaining members of the group immediately become suspects. Each of them has an alibi but as the police, well Jodie and her fiance DCI Nathan Withers, investigate, the alibi's begin to crumble. Having worked as a consultant for the local police in the previous book, Jodie had decided it really didn't work, particularly with her boss also being her fiance. As we learn as the story progresses, Jodie finds it impossible not to get involved with the investigation. Nathan is just as bad as he's supposed to be on holiday.

Initially, it is assumed that the motive for murder is the fall-out of the band members. The investigation points to other possible motives, motives which have been festering for years and still put the other band members at the top of the suspect list. By chipping away at each person's alibi, and a tense stand-off, the murderer is apprehended. I'm now looking forward to the next installment of this cozy crime series.

One of my few criticisms of the previous book in the series was that we didn't see enough of the supporting characters. This time around they all have a part to play in the investigation, although Debbie's usual effervescent self isn't used fully. The supporting character that shines the most this time around is Germaine, the dog.
