Thank you to @NetGalley for letting me read the advanced ebook in exchange for my honest review.
I DNF at 25%. The enemies to lovers was wayyyy to fast. They didn't have time to be enemies they had drinks and kissed the first day at her winery. The pacing is way to fast, at 20% he already thinks hes in love? The non-swear words are giving me an ick and I don't think I'll survive the spicy scenes.
I thought the concept was interesting and the story line would be fun, but this missed the mark.
Let me start by saying, I really liked the premise and overall concept of this story! At times there was some good banter and relationship building, but most of the book felt a little disjunct and clunky. I think the writer is on the right path and just needs to work on a better flow to continue the storyline seamlessly.
This was such a fun read! Enemies-to-lovers is my favorite trope and Shelby and Nate were the best. I laughed quite a bit through this one at their antics. Loved it!
"Could the guy she loves to hate turn out to be her perfect pairing?"
Thank you to Netgalley along with the author Catherine Robertson for letting me read & review this advanced book copy. This was a three star romantic comedy read. Shelby and her family hired Nate to help keep her family owned Flora Valley Wines running after her father passes away. She has to listen to nates tough love advice. This book had great tropes, such as
-Enemies to lovers
-Grumpy Sunshine
-Small town romance
-He falls first
I absolutely loved this book and I couldn’t put it down it was just a beautiful book and I highly recommend reading it, you might need a tissue if you are an emotional person but it’s heartwarming too.
I would like to thank One More Chapter and NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book early thank so much it was amazing!
I absolutely loved the first 10 chapters of the book. Funny dialogue. Looks like it will be a nice slow burn where they are tempted but hold back because they are working together. 2 chapters later he is head over heels and they are heading off to bed together and now that’s all we hear about. This could have been an amazing book given more plot development.
Thank you Net Galley for this copy and all opinions are my own.
i wanted to like this one so bad. The concept sounded like so much fun. But I just couldn't connect with the characters. It was really difficult how the FMC wouldn't curse, and used cheesy sayings instead. It made her come off as childish. It also was hard to relate with the MMC and how he was declaring being in love without the two characters really interacting.

"Corkscrew You" by Catherine Robertson is an absolute delight! The grumpy/sunshine dynamic between Shelby and Nate is electric, turning their love-hate relationship into a sizzling romance. Shelby's passion for saving her father's winery paired with Nate's tough love advice creates a perfect storm of emotions, leading to unexpected, steamy moments that had me hooked. The small-town charm of Flora Valley and the witty, authentic dialogue make this a must-read. Robertson's humor shines through, making me laugh out loud while rooting for Shelby and Nate's happily ever after. A heartfelt and fun journey from enemies to lovers!
I tried REALLY hard to like this, because I love everything about the premise, the wine world, and especially an enemies-to-lovers/grumpy vs sunshine romance, but there was really nothing about this that ended up being believable.
The main character, Shelby, talks like a 15-year old, and seems to have the maturity of one as well. Then all of a sudden she’s a pro in bed but calls his “thing” a “boinky-boink”? I think it was meant to be endearing, but it came across as awkward and uncomfortable.
I did like Nate as a character and felt like his moments of introspection were relatable, but then he’s all of a sudden, head-over-heels in love with another woman in just a few days? After being left at the alter from a four-year relationship? Sorry, but no.
Like I said, I tried to give this one the benefit of the doubt, but I DNF’d at the halfway point. I probably would have done it sooner, but like to give ARCs more time and consideration.
Great concept, not so great execution.
I'm actually giving this one 3.75 stars, and rounding up for Goodreads and NetGalley. This was a solid story. And while the pacing didn't always work for me, and some of the "quirks" were annoying and not endearing, I still managed to finish it within a day. And when I walked away due to competing responsibilities, I was imagining what was going to happen next. So technically, while I thought the story had some problems, clearly there was enough "there" there. 😍
When I first read the book's summary, I was genuinely excited. It seemed to promise the same vibe as Tessa Bailey’s "Unfortunately Yours," with the wine theme. I am so sorry to say this was far from that.
Shelby, the main character, is faced with the burden of saving her family’s winery after her father's passing. To secure much-needed funding, she reluctantly agrees to a condition from an investor: Nate, the male lead, takes charge of the business side while she focuses on winemaking. Despite her reservations, Shelby goes along with it to protect her family's legacy, and that's where Shelby and Nate’s story begins.
This story lacked depth, and was incredibly boring. I don't like instalove and Nate was the absolutely worst in this. This book could have been something more as it has potential but I could not get through it. 🥲
Thank you netgalley for the arc.
I wanted to like Corkscrew You. I’m generally a fan of workplace romance and enemies to lovers, but pretty quickly I found this book to be both tiring and embarrassing. I got very annoyed by Nate’s constant switching into French, which felt unnatural and more like the author wanting to show off language skills. I also didn’t like the pacing, specifically of the romance, and the language used in the sex scenes was kind of unbelievably embarrassing.
I enjoyed this book. I liked the characters and thought the storyline was good. It flowed well and left plenty of my imagination
Thank you to NetGalley and the Publisher for an advance e-copy of Corkscrew You, in exchange for an honest review.
Catherine Robertson's 'Corkscrew You, will take you on a fun journey through the intertwining worlds of romance and winemaking. The book follows the determined Shelby Armstrong as she endeavors to rescue her father's struggling winery, a task that leads her to seek assistance from the cryptic Nathan Durant, a man she both despises and desires. Their relationship is a complex and full of conflict and chemistry, with a single unexpected kiss sparking a wild connection between them. Throughout the narrative, Robertson skillfully blends sharp wit, instant attraction, and simmering passion in the interactions between Shelby and Nathan. Their banter is laced with playful jabs, while the intensity of their burgeoning romance crackles with undeniable allure. As their personal and professional lives become increasingly entwined, the boundaries between love and business blur, creating a tantalizing tension that drives the story forward. In addition to the central romance, 'Corkscrew You' delves into deeper themes of family, trauma, ambition, and the intricate dynamics of business relationships. Shelby's determination to safeguard her family's heritage and Nathan's inner struggles add layers of complexity and emotional depth to their characters, making them relatable and multifaceted. Despite the fast-paced nature of the plot, which keeps readers eagerly turning pages to uncover the next twist, some may find the rapid progression of events detracts from a more nuanced exploration of character development. Nevertheless, the novel remains a captivating and entertaining read, offering a perfect blend of charm, humor, and passion for fans of romantic comedies. Overall, 'Corkscrew You' is a testament to Robertson's engaging storytelling and her ability to craft compelling characters and narratives. With its blend of romance, wit, and emotion, this novel is sure to leave a lasting impression on readers, offering an enjoyable escape into the world of love, wine, and the complexities of human relationships.
Ugh, I wanted to like this book. The premise seemed promising. However, I debating on DNFing after almost every chapter. The dialogue was cringey. The relationship was rushed. The plot and number of characters was chaotic. Not a fan of this one. However, I do appreciate that NetGalley and the publishing company gave me the opportunity to read this arc. Won’t be reading another from this author anytime soon, sadly.
please note that the trigger warnings and topes/themes may contain spoilers
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
HEA: yes
POV: dual 1st person POV
spice: a few open-door spicy scenes
TWs: death of a parent, dying parent who is refusing medical intervention, mental health (depression)
standalone: book 1 in the Flora Valley series
final thoughts: there was so much about this book that was promising and ultimately it wasn’t for me, but I did finish it and read book 2 to really give it a shot. I had a very difficult time with the MMC calling other woman gorgeous, beautiful, pretty, etc. but not in turn giving the FMC the same treatment… it really gave me the ick. I kept losing track of the ages of both MCs (who are in their late 20s) because they are both childish, but also well known in their fields.
In my opinion, this would be a quick road trip read for someone looking to get some good spicy scenes and a fun storyline without getting attached to the characters.
read this book if you love

Good, but not my favorite. The synopsis gave off Tessa Bailey vibes but that’s as far as they went.
Nate is hired to help save Shelby’s family winery. They butt heads until they fall in love. The characters felt a little under developed and immature. The grammar seemed odd.
Thank you to Catherine Robertson, NetGalley, and One More Chapter for allowing me to read this story early in exchange for a review!
I did not finish, I didn’t like the writing style, that’s on me. But also some of the replacement curse words felt childish considering I’ve heard there’s a lot of spice in the book? Just not for me, unfortunately.
I received an advanced copy from netgalley in exchange for a review and opinions are my own.
I enjoyed this, but struggled at times with the intensity of the trope-yness of the story and narrative. Enjoyable, but wouldn’t revisit.
I was so excited to read this book especially after seeing how cute the cover was but it was too insta lovey for me. I think if you are someone who enjoys insta love and are looking for a fast paced book then this might be the one for you.
Thank you so much to netgalley and the author for this arc!!
