You're So Vine by Catherine Robertson is a charming and delightful read! The main characters, Ava Durant and Cam Hollande are relatable and have undeniable chemistry. However, the pacing sometimes felt off, making some plot elements underdeveloped.
As the second instalment in the Flora Valley Series, the book further explores Ava and Cam's lives. Ava is strong, caring, and wonderfully aggressive, while Cam presents a mystery with his awkward charm. The tension around Cam and Shelby's mum, Lee, felt excessive. I sympathized with Ava's frustrations, but Cam's trust issues didn't provide her the reassurance she needed.
Their relationship is compelling as they navigate pasts and help each other grow, yet the rapid emotional intimacy felt too quick for my taste. The story had potential, but the brisk pace overshadowed the emotional depth. Seeing more of Shelby and the family added warmth. Overall, it's a sweet read that left me wanting more!
The storyline seemed so rushed. I wanted to see the characters develop their relationship a bit more but they just rushed everything and it was odd to read. It made no sense and I was just disappointed in all of the characters.
I hate the cover but loved the story. A great couple with just the right amount of fire burning inside this story.
You’re So Vine by Catherine Robertson was a cute and easy read! The main characters; they were really relatable and charming. However, the pacing did feel a bit off. The story moved too quickly for the plot elements, making some parts feel rushed and less developed than they could have been.
A light hearted and entertaining read and a good addition to the series. The characters are charming and I enjoyed the building of their relationship, however the ending left me wanting more. Maybe in the next installment?
Many thanks to HarperCollins UK and to Netgalley for providing me with a galley in exchange for my honest opinion.
Thank you NetGalley for allowing me to receive this book for an honest review.
This book is the second book in the Flora Valley Series.
This book follows Ava Durant and Cam Hollande, which were introduced to in the first book.
Unfortunately, I did not read the first book but because of other reviews keep this one pending and go back and read the first one.
Sounds like a good Rom-Com.
Thank you so much to Netgalley and the author for providing me with this ARC for an honest review.
You’re So Vine is the second book in the Flora Valley Series. This book follows Ava Durant and Cam Hollande, both of these characters we are introduced to in the first book. I was quite intrigued to find more about Ava so was happy to have received this book.
There were a few things that I really liked about Ava, she was strong, caring and feisty. Cam is mysterious and awkward. The whole secrecy with Cam and Shelby’s mum Lee did start to grate. I was split between Ava’s reaction to Lee, on the one side it felt she was quite obsessive and mean towards Lee, but then on the other I was like well due to her major trust issues, Cam was not really reassuring her with what she needed. I felt like Cam was so hard on himself, especially with what he has been through. I like Cam’s character but felt he gave into Ava quite a lot for reasons he didn’t need too.
Ava and Cam did seem to help one another heal from their past history - they understood one another and helped to guide each other to become better people. They did seem to go quite back and forth a lot considering the book only covered a couple of days. They both got very comfortable with each other very fast.
I felt like this book was a little rushed, I just feel it had so much potential to be so strong, but because of the fact paced of the characters relationship, I just felt I couldn’t enjoy the story as much. It was lovely to see more of Shelby and Nate, as well as the rest of the family.
Against, as with the last one I read by this author, I just didn’t like the characters which made it hard to enjoy the storyline sadly!
I thought this was very good and I will have to add this to the shop shelves. Thank you for the chance for us to review.
A tale of two toxic people falling in love in the span of 4 days. I found the characters to be annoying & storyline was ultimately boring.
I really tried to get into this book, but there are so many characters and I just couldn't follow the plot! I did enjoy the writing and descriptions, I thought it was definitely a fun read, just not for me.
I will try to pick back up at another time, but for now it's going to be a DNF. Thank you for the advanced copy!
This has complicated plot with many nuances to feelings and emotions. Characters and plot are engaging. Everything was bit over the top for me.
Cute but everything in their relationship felt extremely rushed.
A few months ago, Ava, asked Cam to go out on a date with her. His reply was to reject her. His rejection left an emotional impact on Ava. Cam felt the chemistry between himself and Ava when she asked him out, but he turned her down before thinking about it. His flight or fight instincts from his days in the army kicked in before he could even think about it. Now he regrets it dearly.
At Ava's brothers wedding, she apologized to Cam for asking him out. Now he thinks that she's moved on and friend-zoned him, but he really doesn't want to be her friend; he wants more. When they dance together at the wedding, Ava collapses in his arms and is rushed to the hospital. Worried that she's sick with some disease brings the duo together and a relationship begins.
But after 4 days, they are saying the "L" word to each other. Are they rushing things because she might die? Or are their feelings genuine?

This is the second book in the Flora Valley series and I downloaded it at the same time as the first one, both because I love me a series and because I really thought I was going to enjoy the first book so much I'd want to run to get more of the characters.
Unfortunately, I can't say that was the case.. The writing style just really isn't for me, it's really corny and has a bit too much fluff for my liking. The plot of this story had some holes in my opinion, both Ava and Cam as characters could have been developed more, it all felt a bit rushed to be honest.
The premise of love at fist sight was really good but overall this was a bit of a letdown unfortunately.
I enjoyed this book. The characters were good and it kept me reading. I did not realize this was the 2nd book in the series and I never read the first, but it did not seem to matter. I love small town romances and the feel of this book was perfect.
Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for letting me read this ARC for my honest review.
This book had so much potential and I was honestly excited when I was picked on NetGalley.
What I liked:
-Chiara. She was hilarious, if not a bit too intense, but she was funny.
The writing was pretty good, but that's where it ends. This book was so freaking rushed it made no sense with the timeliness of the book. The two MCs met a few months ago, she asked him out, he turned her down, now they are at a wedding. Ok they meet again, immediate jealously on both parts and it's weird out of touch jealousy. Instant sex, literally instant "I love yous".
At like 20% in the 2 MCs already have a seemingly huge miscommunication and blow up at each other out of nowhere. The FMC is so immature and comes across extremely clingy like within a day of them just hanging out with each other. Also, the way PTSD was addressed in this book...not good. The FMC was not in the least bit supportive of the MMCs PTSD, didn't even try to learn about it or understand it, and pushed when it was not her place.
Overall, I did not like this book. Everything was rushed for no reason. I am not a fan of instant love to begin eith and this was the most instant I have ever read.
I enjoyed reading this book after Corkscrew Vine. It was another interesting read and following the characters and their background was easy. I just wanted a little more from the writing style. I felt it lacked and was very young at times. The themes throughout were written very careful with a lot of thought and consideration. It was an easy, light read but I felt there could have been much more throughout the book - I was looking for a little more.
Thanks to Netgalley, Catherine and the publisher for allowing me this ARC.
While the writing itself was good, and the characters and their backstory were nice, i found this story lacking. The plot was not there? Or at least went all over the place, there did not seem to be a main storyline, but there was an illness, a lost family member, a suspicious relationship, some family issues on the other side, all next to the romance story. If you could even call it a romance story, because im not gonna lie, this is the quickest instalove ever. Story: she asked him on a date before and he declined, now two months ago he decides to try with her (dance at a wedding), she falls ill, and he immediately goed with her to the hospital, takes her to his home, spends four consecutive days (or something) with her alone, they have s*x the morning after she gets (to his) home from the hospital. Everything just felt really weird. One night stands? I get. Fast falling in love? I get. Not having any sort of relationship and immediately being the main person to care when she falls ill, and also having s*x with her then and practically living with her? What is happening. I did get the idea, and robertson's writing itself is good, but i think the storyline needs more work.
I am sorry and i wish i could have loved it.
Thank you to netgalley and the author for sending me the book in exchange for an honest review
I was expecting soooo much from this book once I read the first chapter, unfortunately I was a little bit let down. I came from reading the first book and was hoping it was different, but I found myself with insta-love in the 20% of the book.
But I loved the story between the characters. Ava is such a strong character and I loved her opinions, the same goes with Cam, who I kind of missed getting more in depth with his background story.
But overall, if you are looking for a fast read, with a cute and grumpy man, read this book.
When I read the description, I expected a love-at-first-sight story, but I didn't anticipate it would truly be that way. The book felt rushed, focusing only on the first few weeks of the relationship. The way their relationship started bothered me a lot—did they genuinely care for each other, or was it just because of the potential illness that brought them together? While there were vulnerable scenes that revealed their emotions, the story had a lot of potential overall.
