What would you do if you saw your husband, who died years ago, everywhere you went. A little bit of June’s soul died when her husband, Josh, went out for a swim during their honeymoon and was never seen again. Was his death an accident or something more sinister?
June has been trying to move on with her life since the death of Josh. She’s engaged to the love of her life, Kyle, and wants to live happily ever after but she’s starting to see Josh everywhere she goes. Did Josh really get lost at sea, or did he secretly leave her and obtain a new identity? The information she uncovers about Josh’s family secrets are staggering. She thought she knew everything about her late husband and his family, but he had a big skeleton in his closet.
I wasn’t sure what to expect from this book since I basically requested it because of the beautiful cover. I didn’t read what it was about and dove in completely blind, but I’m so glad I did! I was instantly enamored with the storyline of the book; from the gorgeous grape vineyard setting in California, to June’s wine bar in Brooklyn. I enjoyed the multiple POV’s from June (present day), and Josh’s mom Bev in 1999. I feel like the back and forth built the character of Josh and gave readers a bit of his backstory which turned out to be a little shocking.
I don’t want to go into too much detail about the story because I want readers to enjoy it as much as I did without any spoilers being revealed.
This was told in two perspectives and timelines. June in present day, and Bev, who was Josh’s mother in 1999. June is clearly trying to move forward with her life, but her past keeps nagging at her. Bev was hiding something that only her and her husband knew, and I couldn’t wait to find out what that secret was. Bev’s perspective really did set the stage for the background of the story, and seeing glimpses of Josh when he was a teenager.
With June, you can see that she is conflicted with trying to have a future with her now finance, but still wanting answers about the death of her first husband. In Bev’s narrative, there was a lot of family drama, as well as Bev dealing with motherhood and feeling like she gave up the life she wanted. Laurie Elizabeth Flynn is definitely an auto buy author for me, and this one did not disappoint with the reveal. I was not expecting that twist at all.
Till Death Do Us Part was a compelling read that I flew through in a day. However it was too over the top for me with too many eye rolling twists. It might be a good one to read with a friend so you can discuss. Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for the free book to review.
June’s fairytale wedding comes crashing down when her husband, Josh, drowns during their honeymoon. June is certain that his death was not an accident, but with no one believing her she has no choice but to move on. Until ten years later, she sees Josh.
The book had a good premise, and once it really gets going it was hard to put down. Getting to that point was difficult. There are multiple time lines and many characters to meet, which I usually don’t mind, but it did feel a bit bogged down and slow in the beginning. I’m glad I stuck with it, though, because it does pick up and it’s an excellent story.
Thanks for the opportunity to read! .
June and Josh were two young lovers who got married only a week before he died. They had a whirlwind romance and eloped, but on their honeymoon, Josh went missing. He sent a text to June that didn’t make sense, then his phone and wallet were found on a beach. It was presumed that he drowned, and June became a widow.
Ten years later, she’s with Kyle, her new fiancé, getting their engagement pictures taken, when she sees Josh. It’s been a long decade of trying to make peace with Josh being gone - they never found his body, and something about that final text never sat right with her. She’s finally moving on, but seeing him again makes her go back to the dark place she was in after his death. She tells Alex she has some business to deal with, then flies across the country to confront David and Bev, Josh’s parents who own a winery in Napa Valley.
This book is told in both the past and present, from the points of view of June and Bev. I’m not really sure most of Bev’s story was needed; it added romance, which for me
Is usually the death of a good thriller. June wasn’t prepared for all the things she would discover on this trip, and as the book went along, the mystery deepened. The ending had some decent surprises, but none of them really blew me away and some seemed very far-fetched, leaving me round my rating down instead of up. Still, this was a decent story, especially if you like “light” mysteries and thrillers. 3.5 stars.
(Thank you to Simon & Schuster, Laurie Elizabeth Flynn and NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for my review.)
The ending of Til Death Do Us Part by Laurie Elizabeth Flynn is unbelievable! A roller coaster of events over 10 years brings a surprising end to this mystery.
🍷“Wine, like people, is notoriously unforgiving.”
🍷“Wine, like life, is meant to be enjoyed.”
🍷“On the vineyard, as in life, timing is everything.”
Woah this book was one hell of a wild, twisty and turny ride and I loved every word of it! If you love wine, you’ll really enjoy this. If you love murder mysteries, you’ll really enjoy this. If you love messed up family dynamics and drama, you’ll really enjoy this. As you can see, I believe everyone will really enjoy this!
That last twist though…🤯. I am going to need a minute here. Wow!
Thank you so much to Netgalley, Simon & Schuster, and the author for the gifted copy.
2.5 rounded up-Sorry to say this book was not for me. The plot (A couple gets married and the husband dies a week later. 10 years later the woman thinks she sees her dead husband) sounded intriguing, but there was a little too much romance, but in a cheating way. I did like that there were some twists at the end that I didn’t see coming, but several parts of the story were far-fetched. I don’t want to list any spoilers, but a couple of times I said out loud “Come on?! Really?!” Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this advanced reader’s copy.
Ten years ago, June’s husband Josh drowned a week after they married. Now, newly engaged, June is ready to leave her grief over Josh in the past, but while out in the park, she spots him. Is it possible the first man she loved never really died?
TILL DEATH DO US PART by Laurie Elizabeth Flynn was a fast-paced domestic suspense.
So much of this story centered on vineyards and wine-making, which I found exceptionally fascinating and I really loved the details paid to the New York and Brooklyn setting!
The alternating POVs were engaging and really built up the mystery and intrigue, but I found the twists, while fun, to be a bit of a reach at times.
This was a fine suspense novel, but leaned a little too much on the romance and the unbelievable for me to enjoy it as much as others have.
Thanks to NetGalley and Simon & Schuster for an ARC in exchange for an honest review!
This book is out now.
This book was just not for me. I read about 40% and I felt that it was predictable and not overly thrilling. As this book was not identified as LGBTQ+ I was completely thrown when the F/F relationship started and decided to not continue to read the book.
As I did not complete the book, I will be refraining from rating the book on Goodread or post a review on Instagram. I appreciate the read but I feel it should have been properly identified even though it is a plot twist.
Thank you, Netgalley, Laurie Elizabeth Flynn, and Simon & Schuster, for the ebook. This family drama full of twisted and turns she secrets so deep and rooted had me turning the pages all night. It was heartbreaking and haunting.
Obsession – lies – secrets – deception - If you love a thriller full of twists and turns with an ending that you in NO way expected, then this book is for you. The bonus for wine lovers like me is, if you're interested, you'll get a bit of an education on wine making as well.
The story follows two timelines. The first POV is June who marries Josh in 2012 after a short courtship. Horribly, just a week later he is presumed dead while swimming in the ocean, when his body is never found. Fast forward to 2022 and we find June has a new man in her life, Kyle, who absolutely adores her. He is completely unaware how obsessed she continues to be over Josh’s death/disappearance, even after the two get engaged. Her obsessive behavior threatens to ruin her relationship with Kyle.
The second timeline follows Bev, Josh’s mom. She with her husband own the Golden Grape vineyard, and they live on the edge of the property with their sons. Josh is in high school during this time, and his storyline is full of tragedy and suspicious behavior. Very juicy!
I guarantee you are not going to guess the places this story goes. I gave up all hope figuring out what would happen next, and simply enjoyed sitting back and letting it all unfold. The story is character-rich, and I did get a little confused about who-did what-to-whom at one point, but in the end it was an entertaining dramatic novel that I would recommend to thriller loving friends.
Thank you to Simon & Schuster, NetGalley, and the author for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
A widow who has found love again suddenly starts seeing what she thinks is her lost husband, whose body was never found. She travels to the west coast to look into his family, and finds more than she wanted to.
I was intrigued at the beginning but I am so bored of the switching narrators. I don't care about Bev and her lesbian awakening. I want to know if Josh is alive. Also, it's so strange that the twin isn't a thought until Bev brings him up with June and then suddenly he's in all the timelines and in everyone's business. This was not executed well.
The winery setting won me over immediately! Fortunately, the story did too. June is on her honeymoon. Hubby goes to get breakfast; Hubby is never seen again. Til years later when he is. By now, June is readying to marry Kyle. She can't get the possible first-hubby sighting out of her mind and decides to pursue it to put everything to rest. Hopefully. Told from the POV's of both June and Bev. Bev is Josh, first hubby's mom. Though I considered this to be more of a domestic suspense than actual thriller, the story moves right along and there are several good twists. I enjoyed this one and as I said, the winery setting alone is worth the read!
Thank you to #NetGalley, Laurie Elizabeth Flynn and Simon & Schuster for this ARC. All opinions are my own.
I will post my review to Amazon, Facebook and other social media and retail sites upon publication.
This was a great thriller in a great setting! I loved the twists and they were surprising without being unbelievable. The pacing was great and I couldn’t put it down!
There’s no question from the start what the main mystery is in this twisty family drama, but there are so many other questions & revelations that come to light. This tale is woven, then unraveled, in such an interesting way. The wine world is a perfect setting for a story as complex as this. This isn’t just family secrets revealed. It explores many aspects of human relationships. This still has me thinking about love, loss, loyalty, marriage, motherhood…
Events are told through June & Bev’s perspectives, sometimes many years apart. I definitely shifted between liking & trusting characters one minute, to disliking or doubting them the next. Sometimes it was the opposite.
I’m often capable of guessing book endings, but not this one. I like that I had absolutely no idea what was going to pop-up next. While reading the final chapters, I found myself flipping back to read earlier events to see if there were clues I missed.
Wish I could grab a glass of wine & read it for the first time all over again. Thanks to the publisher for allowing me to read an advance copy via NetGalley.
Till Death Do Us Part by Laura Elizabeth Flynn has been the most disappointing book I’ve read this year. Unless you enjoy talking about the cloudiness of natural wines the fermentation of wines and all about the growing process and went to pick the grapes and for which wine you may not like this book. As I said already I couldn’t wait to read this book it really sounded like something I would be so down to bury myself in and not come up for air until the book was over but OMG not only was this book disappointing the ending totally came out of left field almost like this book is Clickbait. The book is told between Bev and June, and to be honest I do not know why we had to read about Bev who at first I really liked her before the book is over I was just disgusted with her. As far as June goals I initially felt bad for her but was totally getting tired of hearing her bemoan the loss of her husband 12 years before especially since she was engaged to Kyle. Irregardless I do not recommend this book which I rarely do and really almost DNF this book about winemaking I don’t even drink wine but even if I did I don’t think this book would’ve interested me still in all. I mean people pay thousands and thousands of dollars for something you can make in prison. I appreciated being given this book in exchange for the honest review and this is my absolutely honest review. #NetGalley#SimonAndSchuster,,#LoriElizabethFlynn, #TillDeathDoUsPart,
Told in dual POV and timeline this domestic suspense had me captive from the start. On the surface it seems like a simple story but there are so many secrets buried underneath. I couldn’t wait to see how all the parts where going to come out and fit together in the end!
The story reminded me of a classic rollercoaster. You have that slow build of suspense as you get started then bam you’re sent on a twisty ride. And man, once you got to the twists, it gets messy with a capital M and I mean that in the best way. The characters, the secrets, the drama, I just ate it all up.
This book also goes well beyond the mystery, there’s so much more to it. It’s got women’s fiction and romance components as it handles a raw view of motherhood and a beautiful second chance at love.

I’m going to cut to the quick. I initially found this book extremely confusing - so many jumps back and forth in time, so many people to track. I did not find any of the characters likable with maybe the exception of Emilia. Likability is not necessarily a good criteria for a successful book but usually I find one person to whom I can relate - not this time. Bev, who in my mind is the main character across the entire story, is perhaps the least savory person. She lies, she cheats, she hides the truth…. Looking back, the story is interesting and well developed. I just didn’t care for all of the jumps in time and the entitlement of these people is beyond the pale. The twists at the end are out of the blue, like a Scooby Doo kind of ending.
