Absolutely loved this finale for Millie’s story.. Freida always comes up with a way to keep you on your toes, even if the characters & their patterns are super familiar to the reader.

Oh wow, in typical Freida fashion, the story is never as it first seems! The story had me hooked from the beginning and I struggled to put it down once I started.
I loved getting an update into Milly and Enzo's lives so many years down the track. A must read if you loved the first two Housemaid stories.

Not the typical thriller I am used to with Freida, but that's not to say I didn't enjoy the book. It kept me engaged but felt more like I was reading a Lifetime Movie than a thriller. Overall, I enjoyed the book.

I enjoyed this book. But it was not as exciting or twisty as the first two. It was more predictable than the first two as well. Worth reading but certainly did not live up to the first two books in the series.

This is the final book in The Housemaid series and I have enjoyed getting to know Millie over the course of the three novels. This final book is unlike the other two. The focus is Millie’s family. It is also a bit slower paced, but still enjoyable with of course: twists that only McFadden can deliver.

We had a good ending to the series and I liked seeing a character from book one return all these years later! In some way this character helped to move along the story and bring back the first novel.

This final book wasn’t as strong as the other two and was it really needed? No, it wasn’t. Am I glad I read it? Yes. I adore Millie and Enzo and enjoyed saying goodbye to these characters that you grew to love over these three novels.

I started out reading it on kindle but then saw that Lauryn Allman was a narrator again! I was excited for that as she really is Millie for me. Her narration is just brilliant. We also had a second narrator: Ina Marie Smith. I won’t say who her character is as it might be a bit of a spoiler, but she also brought it on 1000% with her narration!

McFadden is one I will keep on reading! Eventually, I will get a copy of this one to add to my library!

"There's blood everywhere. I've never seen so much blood."

The Housemaid is Watching by Freida McFadden is the third book in The Housemaid Series. I would recommend reading the series in order. There is a time jump from book 2 to book 3. Millie and Enzo are married with two children. They have moved to a home on a quiet cul-de-sac on Long Island. Millie is now a social worker & Enzo is still running his own landscaping business. Their children are Nico and Ada. Millie just wants her children to grow up in a nice neighborhood. Once they move into Millie's dream house, she wonders if they made a big mistake, financially & location wise. It seems the 2 neighbors are always watching. Suzette and Jonathan Lowell lice right next door & Millie is pretty sure Suzette has her eyes set on Enzo.
This book has all the twists you expect from Freida. You think you know what is coming and boom, another twist, and you end up being wrong. This was a quick and easy read, but I thoroughly enjoyed it.

I received an advance review copy, and I am leaving my honest review voluntarily.

I was lucky enough to receive an early copy of The “Housemaid is Watching” through netgalley and it was everything I expected and more! Freida has done it again, leaving me speechless with her twists and turns. I wish this series never ended because I could read about Millie and Enzo’s stories forever. I loved how it was set in the future, years after “The Housemaid” took place. This may be my favorite book of the series. Everything all came together in the end leaving me with a major book hangover and craving more from this series. Thank you, Freida- for writing excellent books, keeping me endlessly entertained, and helping me escape my day to day life and dive into the craziness of your fictional worlds.

So good. Great final installment of the housemaid series. I have to disagree with Ada though, in this series, the third book is just as good. Might even be my favorite of the series! I squealed with excitement several times while listening to the ARC audiobook. You've done it again, Freida!!!! Thank you to netgalley and poison pen press for the opportunity to listen early and give feedback!

The Housemaid Book 3 was a really interesting read! I was so excited to continue the story of Millie and the fact that it did not follow the same recipe from Book 1 and 2 and instead showed Millie as the owner of the house & now dealing with a crazy neighbor - wow!!! I loved the family dynamic of Enzo & Millie and it was an amazing conclusion to this trilogy!

I love Freida as much as the next person but this was unfortunately a miss for me. The storyline had so much potential, but fell short for me. Millie, girl, what happened? Having kids? Idk. You were ruthless and this time you seemed a bit weak. Never mind the fact that 11 year olds don’t act nor think the way her daughter did. Idk. Waiting on the next Freida.

She lives next door...she knows your secrets...

We are back with housemaid Millie Calloway and her hunky Italian gardener Enzo, now more than a decade after the events that took place in the first two books "The Housemaid" and "The Housemaid's Secret" .

Millie and Enzo have been married for twelve years with 11 year old daughter Ada and 9 year old son Nico. After struggling to provide living in their cramped two bedroom shoebox in the Bronx, the couple have splurged on a mortgage and purchased a sprawling house on Long Island where they believe it the perfect place to raise their family.

From the first moment Millie sees her bubbly neighbour Suzette, she practically hates her on sight. The woman is an overt flirt, openly throwing herself at Enzo in front of both her husband Jonathon and Millie's eyes. Whilst Jonathon doesn't appeared to be perturbed by the spectacle, Millie is. And Enzo doesn't even seem to notice the woman's more than obvious innuendoes. But if they want to feel welcomed in the neighbourhood then Millie must bite her tongue. After all, Suzette apparently has some influential contacts to help Enzo in building his landscaping business.

There is one other house in their quiet little cul-de-sac and that belongs to single mother Janice and her young son Spencer, who is the same age as Nico. The boys hit it off as fast friends but the mothers do not. Janice is over protective bordering on weird. She questions Millie about Nico's vaccination status and will only permit the boys' playdate once this is proved via a certificate. She questions Millie about nits as well as what exactly her husband is doing at Suzette's so much. The woman is busybody if not strange. After all, she stands at the bus stop with Spencer, a leash attached to him!

Soon Millie begins to question the insight into the move. What on the surface appeared to be a safe place to raise their children threatens to implode their family. And then there's the murder...

I totally LOVED the first two books in this fantastic series and was eagerly awaiting this third installment after it was announced last year. However, for me, I found this one to be something of a disappointment...particularly when you compare it to the first two. On its own it could well suffice but this is the housemaid...and I guess I expected a little more. I know that Freida is capabale of brilliance in her thrillers and the final twist to her plots. But this one was just meh for me. Especially considering I was totally puzzled by the motive behind the crime, which incidentally is just an aside. I mean, toys? It made no sense. And there was no real reasoning behind Janice and her leashing Spencer. So many loose threads left at the end I was left a little confused by it all. Read it and see if you can figure it out.

Not a bad read, but it doesn't compare to the two that preceded this one.

I would like to thank #FreidaMcFadden, #Netgalley and #Bookouture for an ARC of #TheHousemaidIsWatching in exchange for an honest review.

Although a solid thriller with a twisty, unpredictable ending--this one didn't live up to my expectations. Most Frieda books keep me up all night because I cannot stop reading, this one didn't quite have that same effect!

This book was definitely a page turner. Plenty of twists and surprises as expected. However, as a fan of the series I was disappointed with the direction of the story. I would’ve liked to see more of Millie doing what Millie does best.

A Bookworm's World is a stop on today's blog tour for The Housemaid is Watching.

I've seen so many positive reviews of Freida McFadden's suspense novels, so I thought it was about time I read one. Her latest is The Housemaid is Watching.

McFadden starts off with a prologue guaranteed to hook the reader. We now know what awaits us in further along in the book. What we need now is the who and why...

Millie, her husband Enzo and their two children have just moved into a house on a quiet cul-de-sac. The neighbors are a bit 'off', but that can't take away from their happiness of owning a house at last. Or can it?

McFadden is a master of misdirection. She had me looking at one set of events, while I should have been looking at another. Bravo! I love being unable to predict what is going to happen next in a plot. Almost every chapter ends with foreshadowing, which means I just had to read just another chapter and another.

Most of the chapters belong to Millie's point of view, but other characters are given a voice as the end of the book draws near. Clues about Millie's past are dropped in as the book progresses. My perception about Millie changed quite a few times as the book continued. It was the same for many other characters as well. McFadden gives us some crazy twists that were unexpected - but very welcomed!

While this was my first McFadden tale, it won't be my last! This would be a great beach read!

I absolutely am obsessed with Frieda and her books! The plot twist had be audibly gasp.

I thought I would enjoy this book a lot more but it didn’t grasp me like her other books in this series! I binged those so fast where this took me a while to get into.

Martha did nothing for me, and the suspects were too obvious.

Overall enjoyed the storyline!

Thank you NetGalley and Frieda for letting me enjoy and review this ARC!

While I didn’t feel a 3rd installment was necessary, I had SO much fun being back with these characters. It was so fun to watch another mystery unfold, and I loved seeing these characters years into the future. Another quick, fun read from Freida McFadden!

This was a wonderful addition to the housemaid series, it was as fast paced and enjoyable as the other two books in the series and I was able to get sucked in very easily. It was so nice to see how Millie and Enzo and meet their beautiful kids. I did struggle a bit with the beginning and getting used to the time jump but by the time it picked up I finished the rest of the book in one sitting

Millie, her husband and her children, are excited to move into a new home. But their happiness is threatened by one neighbour's relentless flirting and snide comments, and another neighbour being unfriendly and judgemental. Things get even worse when a body is discovered...
The Housemaid is Watching is the third book to feature Millie, a woman with a dangerous past. I have previously read and reviewed the first two books, The Housemaid and The Housemaid's Secret. This book works perfectly well as a stand alone book but there is sufficient information about Millie's past to understand her emotions and reactions.
We last saw Millie over a whole decade ago according to this timeline. She is now happily married to Enzo and they have two children. She no longer cleans for others and finds her new social work career fulfilling. But a new home brings financial worries as well as trying to make friends among her new neighbours who seem determined to be negative.
The first half of the book is quite slow, building up the tension for Millie and her family. I admit I got a little bored waiting for something concrete to happen but then... POW!!! The pace picks up spectacularly later on when the body is discovered (it was NOT who I expected!) Chapters shorten and Millie's panic about rapid developments is effectively conveyed.
As usual for this series, there is a change of perspective which alters our perception of events with a shock! I did kind of guess the twist but it went beyond what I expected and the epilogue delivers a final surprise.
The Housemaid is Watching is a wonderfully tense psycholoigcal thriller.

I didn't enjoy this as much as the first two books. The first half dragged quite a bit. The second half was better when there was finally some action. 3.5 stars
