Someone once said the third book in a series is never as good, they must not be reading Freida McFadden books. Here we are with the third in the series and we fast forward about 10 years and catch up with Millie who is now married and just moved into a new house. She meets her neighbors who make her uneasy. Suzette cannot seem to say anything nice and then Janice who is just odd. What is going on in this cul-de-sac? I can only say that you want to keep reading and not put the book down. Is everything what it seems? There are a lot of surprises in this new book - I cannot say what as it will take away the fun for the ready. While I did figure out a few of the twists I was not disappointed. It was an overall great book. I'd love to see another book in the series to keep up with Millie and her life.

My thanks to Bookouture/Source Books and Net Galley for allowing me to review this arc.

Wow!! Book opens with the familiar dead body and you don't know who it is. There is a time jump and Millie is not cleaning houses, is married with kids and moves into a cul-de-sac with neighbors that have secrets that leads to murder. What a twist in the middle that flips the book to a different pov. Loved it!

Freida does it again! I was wondering how she was going to do a third Housemaid book and while I still don’t think it was necessary to tie up the story, for fans of The Housemaid series, it was a fun, satisfying way to revisit some characters that we all know and love. In typical Freida fashion, there are twists and turns that will keep you guessing until the very last page. Overall, I really enjoyed this book and flew through it.

"Thank you to Freida, Mandy and Poisoned Pen Press for this Advance Reader Copy. I will forever love this series and the twists that never fail to shock me!!!"

One Line Review: It’s a decade into the future from the last time we adventured with Millie, and life seems to be picturesque… key word “seems.” She’s just moved into the home of her dreams, with her husband and children in a safe neighborhood, with a steady job. But then everything starts to unravel, leaving Millie to question if anyone around her is truly as they seem.

Synopsis: Flash forward ten years, and we open to an idyllic setting, far away from the danger and fear of Millie’s past. Millie and Enzo have gotten married, had kids, and found a home in Long Island. Even though it’s a stretch on finances, they’re determined to make this home a safe space. When nosy neighbor Suzette begins to show the cracks in her seemingly flawless facade, Millie starts to doubt herself and if moving here was the best idea.
Suzette starts spending a little TOO much time with Enzo to build a clientele for his landscaping business. When she asks him about it, he dodges the questions, making it impossible to shake the feeling that he is lying to her. Millie tries to believe him, but then something unthinkable happens to Suzette’s husband. The whole world closes in on her family, as accusations lead them down a path Millie hoped she would never have to go down again…

My Thoughts: Freida. FREIDA! That twist at the end?!?! I actually yelled… AT 2AM… waking my husband and dog and fully disrupting the otherwise peaceful night. Without trying to give anything away, I have never felt such vindication in so few pages. I loved this one, ranking it as second fave in the series.

Thank you so much to Bookotoure for sending me a copy of this long awaited third installment!

This is set in the future for our FMC Millie, who we last left off with her helping other women rid themselves of their ‘problems’ aka abusive partners. This book ties that in as well as a seemingly stable suburban life with two children; until her neighbor is found dead and her husband Enzo is to blame. Is her husband hiding something from her? Or is there another killer on the loose?

This book unfortunately did not live up to the hype that is typically placed on Freida’s books. I think it was the plot- the books are always wonderfully written but I just don’t know if it was the greatest storyline to pick considering the Housemaid in this story really wasn’t involved much at all. I got the premise, I just didn’t enjoy it as much as I did the first two.

Freida never lets me down. Another great addition to the housemaid books. Her twists and turns get me every time. The suspense built in this one kept me on my toes. The characters are just so easy to connect with! I really enjoyed this book! I feel like watching Millie develop and just go through life was super special - just reading from her perspective made it that much more enjoyable. So thankful for the opportunity to read this one early - big thanks to Netgalley, Poisoned Pen Press, and Bookouture.

I LOVE this fun series! I couldn’t wait to see what Mellie was up to next, family life. This was a slower burn compared to the rest of the series but there were a few twists that had my jaw on the floor. I had made up my mind that I knew where it was going and was slapped in the face, because I was wrong.

****Many thanks to Bookouture and Freida McFadden for my #gifted ARC.

The Housemaid is watching takes place quite a number of years after the second book The Housemaids secret. I’m not going to say too much about the actual book as I don’t want to give away any spoilers. I found the first half of this book a bit of a slow burn if I’m being honest. But it didn’t bother me in the slightest as having read all of Frieda McFaddens books I just knew she would have a number of twists thrown in. And boy I sure wasn’t wrong. The second half of the book had me feeling at times that I was on a roller coaster with all the twists and turns. The characters are all excellent and as with all her previous books I am recommending this one to all fans of psychological thrillers.

"It's a distinctive odor. One that I have become very familiar with."

The Housemaid is Watching is the 3rd book in the Housemaid series. Reading The Housemaid and The Housemaid's Secret is a BIG suggestion before diving into this book. If you have loved the series thus far you are doing to eat this book up! Freida has a way of making you feel all the emotions Millie is going through. The way she makes you hate characters or want to just start a fight with them, cheering Millie on along the way. This one does that and so much more!

Millie and Enzo bought the perfect house in the perfect neighborhood, but will they have the perfect neighbors?

Mrs. Lowell the next-door neighbor super welcoming at first, until she spots Enzo. She cannot keep her eyes off of him while giving Millie back handed compliments. Mrs. Lowell seems to have the perfect life, perfect husband, perfect job, perfect maid and perfect house. Why is she going above and beyond to get under Millie's skin and is Enzo oblivious or feeding into it?

What about the other neighbor across the street? Janice the overprotective mom who watches the neighborhood at all hours of the day. Who can Millie trust? Did they make the right move? Will this be the perfect place for their family?

So many comments I have seen said do we need a 3rd book? 100 times yes!!! We need a 3rd Book! This book took a hold on me unlike the other two! I did not know what to believe or honestly what else could happen. I could not read the pages fast enough to have answers. This is the 3rd book you thought we didn't need, but Freida said BET, better buckle up. You are about to be on another Millie adventure that you do not want to miss!!!

A thrilling read that kept me guessing! Millie has moved to Long Island but trouble follows her wherever she goes. In true Freida McFadden fashion this book shocked me with the twists. I enjoyed this book a lot. The peekaboo neighbor, spying on everyone all the time. The rich neighbor hitting on Millie’s husband. Millie’s husband acting suspiciously. It all makes a great book!!

I wasn't sure I'd be happy with this book throughout much of it. Millie changed too much. She went from badass to kind of weak, in my opinion. However, the twist at the end redeemed it! Also, I'm not sure if Freida included the bit about the 3rd book in a series never being as good as the first two, but that made me laugh!

FREIDAAAAAAA, girl. You have done it again.

Thank you PoisonedPenPress & Thank you Freida for the opportunity at an eARC. The Housemaid is Watching was my MOST anticipated read of June and I’m so grateful I got early access.

I literally d e v o u r e d this book in 2.5 days. Honestly, I could have finished it in 1 day but I was savoring every single page. This book was absolutely everything I was expecting and more. We start off with Millie & Enzo married, a decade later. Millie & Enzo have two children: Ada & Nico. Millie & Enzo purchase a house on Long Island and it’s one of three on the cul-de-sac. Millie is estatic, after all this was all she ever dreamed and thought she could never attain it having been a convicted felon. Until she meets the strange neighbors: Suzette Lowell and the story begins to unfold from there. I don’t want to spoil it for anyone who hasn’t read it yet, so I will end it here.

Honestly, I despise Suzette Lowell, I get it, that’s the point. lol and I was so upset with Enzo for about 90 percent of the book. The ending was so unexpected. If you think you have this book figured out you are probably wrong.

Anyways, run and add this to your TBR if you haven’t yet. If you don’t then you’re missing out.

This book was nice conclusion to the housemaid series! Loved it! Frieda Mcfadden does not miss! The characters are well-developed, and the narrative is fast-paced, making it difficult to put the book down. Fans of psychological thrillers will appreciate the plot and the chilling atmosphere McFadden creates. Overall, The Housemaid is Watching is a must-read for thriller enthusiasts.

To say I was excited about the next installment in the Housemaid series is a huge understatement. The moment I got this one on my kindle I devoured it. Jumping back into a series you love just brings all the good feels.

I still love following Millie’s story, and everything that happens in her life (it’s almost unbelievable). I really like Enzo and Millie’s relationship it’s built on love and lies, what more could you ask for.

I love how this one told snippets of what happened in the last books, but didn’t really give any of their storylines away. As usual the twist blew my mind…. I will always be looking forward to these twists and turns right up to the end!

Frieda did it again! I gobbled this up in one day because I just couldn’t put it down! I’m obsessed with Millie and all the trouble that seems to come her way. I love we get to see her more grown up and with a family. This book had a crazy twist that I did not see coming! I don’t know how she keeps surprising me but she does!

Yet another incredible book in the housemaid series

I’ve never flown through a book as quick as I have a Frieda book and this is no exception! If you loved th first two books in the series then definitely give this a read, a slightly different approach this time but still such a good twist and such a great read

Freida has officially done it again! I have loved this series since I first picked it up and I'm really pleased with the way that the queen has decided to wrap everything up in a nice little bow. Huge thanks to NetGalley, Freida, and Mandy for providing me with an early E-Arc via NetGalley. I'm always truly honored when I'm approved to read one of my faves early. If you haven't started this series yet, you've got to!! And if you're all caught up - get ready to ride through this fantastic conclusion. Loved it from beginning to end and I hope you will too! Big thanks again to NetGalley, Freida, Mandy, and everyone over at Poisoned Pen Press that made this book possible and for allowing me the opportunity to read it early.

The Housemaid Is Watching Freida McFadden

I absolutely loved books 1 and 2, book 3 is a very slow burn, very little happens in the first half of the book. I kept reading because I love the character and wanted to see where the book went.
The second half of the book ramped up quickly, and I did enjoy the storyline then, if anything after a slow start, it was then rushed.
If there is a 4th book, I will read it.

Millie is back in the third installment of The Housemaid series by Freida McFadden titled "The Housemaid is Watching", but the only house she will be cleaning is her own. As Millie and her little family try to integrate themselves into their new neighborhood, one thing is certain: don't trust the neighbors.

After having read the first two books in the series, I did enjoy revisiting Millie, now in her middle age, and meeting her new family. That was enjoyable; however, much of the book is filled with Millie and the many new people in her life, and not as much of the actual psychological thrill I was anticipating.

I always enjoy Freida McFadden's easy writing and fun plots, but this one was too drawn out and overall unnecessary for the series.

Overall, I'm not disappointed that I read it, but it is certainly my least favorite of The Housemaid Series books.

Thank you to the publisher, Bookouture, for reaching out to offer me a gifted eARC for review consideration. All opinions expressed here are mine alone.
