Billie Ann is a police officer, she's a mother, she's recently separated from her husband, and she's in love with another woman. She's also on a trail of a killer who has killed already and several more women are missing.

As in many of Willow Rose books, there are two story lines. One from the past and one from the present. Sometimes it's really difficult to figure out who is in the "past" story. This time the reader may have a few clues, but Billie Ann and her police partners do not.

As the clock keeps ticking on the missing women, Billie Ann's life is spinning out of control. She's on the case, hardly at home, and her soon-to-be-ex husband is making demands while her kids are acting out. The reader can feel her devotion to her family and her job, and she's trying to meet the needs of everyone.

There are so many twists in this story, but Willow Rose readers know that they will eventually be braided together. Exciting novel.

Willow Rose - I thank you. A strong woman dealing intense personal time in her life - divorce. As a woman who has done it twice - it's rough. Thank you, Willow Rose, for portraying a strong, professional, realistic woman with real problems. And the story - perfection. Easy, fast and consuming read. Then She’s Gone is the second book in the Detective Billie Ann Wilde series. I read the first one and loved it! Now I’ve read the second one and loved it. I read it in a day!

I did kind of guessed what was happening(I was wrong about part of it and right about part) but it was really brought together in a great way!

I’ll be on the look out for more Detective Wilde books!

In my head all I can see is Rizzoli from the tv show, Rizzoli and Isles. Both bad a** women.

Thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for an advance copy in exchange for a honest review.

Billie is back! We see her investigating new crimes while navigating her difficult personal relationships at the same time. I love that we have a lead character who has finally accepted who she is and what she wants, even though that has some people unhappy with her.

This crime thriller is twisty and fill odd action. I listened to this one in one sitting. It is told from multiple POVs with flashbacks to the past. I was wondering how it all was connected, and I feel that it tied together well in the end. My guesses were all wrong in this one! I definitely recommend reading book 1 for background information, but it’s not necessary.

Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

This is the second instalment of the Detective Billie Ann Wilde series, and it is just as enjoyable as the first. The storyline is fast-paced and dramatic, and its conclusion intrigued me. The main protagonist is interesting, and I am looking forward to reading more about her in the third story.

The storyline is easy to follow, despite complexities within the plot, and thanks to the author’s writing style, this is easy to understand and follow.

This is highly recommended to anyone who enjoys this genre, and this series is a brilliant introduction to this author's work.

Check out my fun #LitLife Mini Author Chat with Willow Rose! (A mini #AuthorElevatorSeries Q&A) I LOVE THIS SERIES!

Internationally bestselling author Willow Rose returns following Don't Let Her Go (#1) with her popular Detective Billie Ann Wilder Series #2, THEN SHE'S GONE — when Detective Wilde is called out to a crime scene on the Florida coast, she discovers a suitcase containing bones (human remains) —and gets caught up in a complex web of secrets, lies, revenge, and murder —when the past and present collides.

Billie is shocked to find the tag and the suitcases belong to her best friend and the woman she loves.

What follows is an intense, multi-layered, complex, high-stakes search with three connecting storylines that may be closer and more dangerous than she can imagine in this twisty, darkly thrilling cop procedural crime thriller.

Set in Cocoa Beach, Florida, Detective Billie Ann Wilde is still dealing with her personal issues (she recently came out as gay) with her husband (Joe) of eighteen years and three children in the last book. They are trying to work towards a divorce while Billie is tackling some highly personal tough cases.

Billie has always secretly loved her best friend, Danielle Simmons (Cocoa Beach) —Danni is also married to Mike. They have not acted on those feelings. Danni has twin daughters.

However, when she sees Danni's suitcase with her name on the tag, she is frantic about ensuring her friend is OK. She is, but what is going on?

How did they get her suitcase, and whose bones are inside? A woman's human remains. Is Danni in danger? She could never allow anything to happen to her.

A gruesome discovery now known as the Suitcase Murder made even more chilling is its proximity to where families come for vacation and relaxation—a reminder that evil can lurk anywhere, regardless of how peaceful it may look on the surface.

Later, they discover more suitcases with bones/body parts. From the beach, mall, airport, a trail...an intense investigation is underway with all bodies on board, causing even more friction at home with Joe/Billie and the kids due to Billie's working around the clock.

Soon, one shows up with her name on one of the tags, and Danni has gone missing after not returning from a run.

The clock is ticking... Could all these cases be connected?

What is the connection to this twisted killer? Who is the woman whose body is in the suitcases? A woman dismembered into sixteen pieces.

3 different cases are going on:
~Joanne Edwards - A missing woman after a night out with her coworkers
~The Suitcase Murders
~Then: A 30-year-old case of a brother/sister convicted of killing their stepdad. They were the youngest in American history to have been tried as adults and be sent to adult prison. Both got 15 years and have been out 15 years.

Interspersed with the cases are the transcripts of (THEN) interviews with Josephine, Carol, and Bobby Durst, Detective Michael Smith, Detective Lenny Travis (Billie's former partner), and Sergeant Joseph Mill. A young girl, Josephine, and her brother, Bobby, are accused of killing their stepfather. Was it the sister, brother, or mother (Carol)?

Billie also has a new boss, Chief of Police Becky Harold, a former Marine and Air Force Pilot before her career in the police. She does not take crap from anyone, and Billie hides the fact she is emotionally invested in this case. Otherwise, she will remove her, and she needs to stay on the case until they find her out.

Told from POVs: Billie, Randy (Joanne's husband), and several others related to the storylines.

How are Danni and Billie connected to the suitcases? Billie's dark past unravels in this INTENSE thrills-by-minute mystery suspense whodunit. Another twisty, heart-stopping new crime thriller in the Billie Ann Wilde series from international bestseller Willow Rose.

Wow, what a book and series! I was hanging on every word. It's UNPUTDOWNABLE! It checks all the boxes.

I am late to the game, only recently discovering this talented fellow Floridan author (located north of me in Cocoa Beach). When I read the first book in the Detective Bille Ann Wilder series, Don't Let Her Go, I was HOOKED and blown away by this dynamic crime thriller, cop procedural series, and highly relatable detective. I could not wait to read #2. I love her style.

THEN SHE'S GONE is gritty, intelligent, edgy, twisty, and electrifying!

Set in Florida, THEN SHE'S GONE is the second book in this dazzling new series—I devoured it.

What I enjoy about this author is her excellent writing skills, twisty plots, highly relatable protagonist, vivid settings, fascinating storylines that could be ripped from today's headlines, heart-pounding suspense, and how she openly shares the inspiration behind the book with her readers (a prominent plus-wish more authors would do so).

The author expertly combines three different storylines (all inspired by TRUE stories)— you cannot even imagine how the three will converge—explosive! I would have never guessed. I enjoy stories in my backyard—The two storylines are set in Florida (one here in Palm Beach County— Delray Beach, three suitcases, the Intracoastal waterway), and they are spine-chilling!

I adore the flawed and relatable Detective Billie Ann Wilde (a wife and mother of three), who is dealing with a divorce after recently coming out as gay. The series is stand-out!

If you are a fan of intelligent #crimethrillers #copprocedurals #truecrime #suspense #psycholgoicalthrillers #mystery #detective #femalesleuths and #domesticsuspense, you will devour this series—I highly recommend it!

I look forward to #3 in the series, In Her Grave: An absolutely gripping mystery and suspense thriller with an incredible twist, coming (June 26, 2024). (a cliffhanger).

This is a must-read series for fans of Lisa Unger, Lisa Gardner, Karin Slaughter, and Christina McDonald. Thriller fans, get this author and series on your TBR list now! It's out March 18th.

Thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley for a gifted digital ARC for my honest opinion.

I really enjoyed this one. This is the sequel to Don't Let Her Go, but still can be read as stand alone. I jumped right in and was hooked in the first chapter and binged it quickly. Plenty of twists and turns, lots of action, kidnappings, girls gone missing. It was a super entertaining read and a 5 star experience for me.

This is a great crime thriller.
Detective Billie Ann is called to a beach where a suitcase has been found which contains body parts.
This is shocking in itself, but the suitcase has a label on it, with her best friend’s name on it.
Billie Ann races round to Danielle’s house and is relieved to see she is fine.
The remains are identified and Billie Ann and the team need to find her killer.
Things then go from bad to worse when Billie Ann finds out that Danielle has gone missing. She is desperate to find her before it’s too late.
This is a gripping crime thriller and we also get an insight into Billie Ann’s life at home, and the problems she’s having.
I’m looking forward to the next book in the series to see what’s next for Billie Ann.
Thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book.

Then She's Gone by Willow Rose is an exhilarating ride into the depths of suspense and the dark corridors of a past that refuses to stay buried. Rose masterfully crafts a narrative that is as haunting as it is gripping, delivering a crime thriller that stands out in the genre.

Billie Ann Wilde is a compelling character who is not only determined and skilled but also deeply flawed and relatable. Billie's internal struggles and the personal stakes in the investigation add a layer of intensity to the story, making the reader's investment in the outcome all the more profound. I love it when two timelines meet up in such a satisfying way in the end. A must-read for fans of crime thrillers with complicated characters!

Willow Rose is a prolific author who never saw a genre she couldn't write a killer story in. She writes Mystery, Thriller, Paranormal, Romance, Suspense, Horror, Supernatural thrillers, and Fantasy. She has at least five series running and many stand alone books too. I have read many of her books and have yet to find one I didn't love and recommend to friends and family, expanding her fanverse.

This is book #2 in the Detective Billie Ann Wilder series so you won't be too far behind to catch up. This killer is testing Billie's investigative skills by pulling her friends into the crime. She must double down or find herself face to face with her worst nightmare.

The sequel to Don't Let Her Go. Like the first book, this one was amazing. I was hooked from the start and I am so so excited to see what's next in this series. It was fast-paced and had me so engrossed that I nearly forgot to get my kid from school.
If you're planning on reading this, definitely make sure you read the first one first as there is a whole lot of backstory that is important.

Thank you to @netgalley and @bookouture for my copy of this book

An absolutely unputdownable, dark and twisty, heart-pounding mystery thriller! Willow Rose does it again with book 2 in her latest series! Cannot wait for book 3!

I love this series! Det. Billie kicks ass! Her husband on the other hand is kind of a bag of dicks. Yes, I get that she hurt him and upended their lives by realizing that she was gay...however, he doesn't have to be such an asshole about it! This book was a wild ride and I can't wait for the next book in the series!

This is shaping up to be my favourite Willow Rose series yet. Billie Ann Wilde is called to a scene with a body in a suitcase. Plenty of twists along the way can Billie keep her private life struggles from encroaching into her work. Thanks to Bookoutre and Netgalley for this ARC.

(Detective Billie Ann Wilde #2)

The story revolves around Detective Billie Ann Wilde who is working on a case of a suitcase that is containing a body of a woman which was seen ashore a Florida beach. On closer look, Wilde discovers that the baggage tag belongs to her best friend, Danni.

The case that Billie and her team are after is a chain of murder and missing person occurrences in book two. The more they scrape further, the more apparent it becomes that the flaws of her work are seeping into her private life, making her work her private life. However, given that Billie is determined to keep everything together at this time, the investigation becomes even more intricate. Excellent read, I highly recommend this series.

Thank you to Bookouture and NetGalley for allowing me to read and review this book.

Book two of this series and I am loving it!

In the present day, human bones are found in a suitcase, which is found to belong to Detective Billie-Ann Wilde’s best friend, Danni.

As the body count increases, so does the tension in Billie-Ann’s work life and her downward-spiralling home life, with her estranged husband Joe becoming more and more hostile towards her. Billie-Ann is a relatable character as a career focussed working mum, desperately trying to achieve a good work-life balance, not wanting to fail at either, but really struggling to keep all of her many balls in the air.

Flashbacks to the past, reveal a murdered step-father and the police interview transcripts with the dead man’s wife and her children.

I just couldn’t work out how these two stories were going to connect and when they did, WOW! Definitely did not see that coming!

I really enjoyed this book with it’s twists and a massive red herring! Fast paced and gripping, the tense conclusion to the case had me holding my breath and then the hook into the next book just flew at me out of nowhere - bring it on!

5 ⭐️ Thanks to Netgalley, Willow Rose and Bookouture, for an ARC in return for an honest review.

I think this was just a bit too convoluted for me? I didn’t like that I was still struggling to remember characters when I was over halfway through the book. The case was compelling and had all the elements there, and I always love when crime thrillers delve into the personal lives of the detectives which this book certainly does, but it didn’t quite all click for me like the first book did.

Then She’s Gone is the second book in the Detective Billie Ann Wilde series by Willow Rose. Although I hadn’t read the first novel, I could easily read this as a standalone. From the beginning I was completely drawn into the fast placed plot. It’s a tense and gripping novel full of bodies, secrets and lies and I completely enjoyed it. It’s well written and had me totally immersed with each turn of the page. I can’t wait to read more from this author. Thank you to NetGalley, Bookouture and the author for the chance to review.

I found this book slow to start and a bit hard to follow. After reading half of the book I still had a hard time keeping the characters straight. I will go back and read book one, maybe things will make more sense.

I really wanted to like this one more than I did, it was hard to push through to the end.
