The twin of a rapist with the survivor of a killer...
It's nail biting, it's steamy, it was unstoppable. I found myself not wanting to press on the pause button. Once you start, you won't want to stop. I enjoyed this story, it was told so well with splashes of romance and crime coming together. The narrators did great bringing this story to life. I love that it was a dual narration.

I have mixed feelings on this one. I really wanted to like the sports romance and serial killer crossover but this didn't quite hit the mark for me. I will breakdown why...

Things I liked:
*Narration -I thoroughly enjoyed the dual narration from Andi Arndt and Teddy Hamilton. They are two of my favorites. They definitely kept me going when I wanted to stop...
*The smut - I liked how the smut was written - it was enjoyable and plentiful
*The quirkiness to the FMC's personality
*The meet cute was fun, until it wasnt.
*The chickens

Things I found problematic:
*Instalove in two highly flawed individuals with traumatic pasts.
*Glamorizing love bombing and codependency.
*The plot holes regarding <spoiler> the brother's body never being found at the scene of the death <spoiler/>
*It wasn't an alpha-hole, he was just demanding. I needed more character development, especially from his perspective for it to be an 'alpha' type personality.
*What was the deal with the bikers? I feel like it was out of nowhere and didn't really add to the story...

4/5 ⭐️

I haven’t read a Tijan book since I read Enemies whoch is literally one of my favourite sport romance books ever. So when I saw she wrote another football sports romance I obviously had to request, and when I saw it was Teddy Hamilton doing the voice? I DOUBLE HAD TO REQUEST.

I did thoroughly enjoyed this book! I did find the combination between sport romance and true crime a little odd? And one book I loathe to this day had that same combination but I was pleasantly surprised Tijan could pull off the combo.

The character were well developed and incredibly interesting and I connected with them well! Dair warning though, this book is instalust!

All and all solid book from Tijan, she does sport romance well

Intriguing & Heartfelt! Awesome Story & Narration🎧

My Anti-Hero
By: Tijan
Narrated by: Andi Arndt, Teddy Hamilton

Tijan blows me away with another amazing novel, and I loved everything about it, from her wonderful writing style to the fantastic characters and storylines she created to the perfectly cast narrators who bring it all to life from the pages to your ears. This is a suspenseful sports romance with original storylines that are captivating from start to end. I absolutely adored the lead female character Willow aka Billie, her quirkiness, her knack to quote football stats and her love of animals. As the sole survivor of a serial killer, she learned it was best to be unseen, living a low key life, hidden from the world. Her newsworthiness captured the attention of some less than desirable people, ones obsessed with the serial killer, some going as far as supporting him. She agrees to do a rare television interview, not thinking it would be a big deal, but that backfires when she gets unwanted attention because of who she bumped into, Super Bowl champion Brett Broudou. Brett was at the television studio for his own interview, and he found Billie intriguing and wanted to spend more time with her. Billie, who rarely goes out to socialize, is trying to come out of her shell and put herself out there. After a hiccup and misunderstanding, Billie, who is just as attracted to Brett as he is to her, agrees to go out with him. Both these characters have their own issues, dealing with their own inner demons. It is the start of what is going to be a great relationship, despite him trying to push her away because of his family’s issues. She has her own secrets and when there are more killings, it raised doubts if the actual killer is in prison or not, and as the sole survivor, it was her who put him away. Her worst nightmare is happening and her past has come back to haunt her. Tijan keeps you on your toes making you wonder who the killer is, I had my suspicions, but the twist in the end blew those away and I could say I never saw that coming. This book keeps you hooked with its clever plot, abundant drama, mystery, suspense, heartfelt emotions and a swoon-worthy romance. Tijan, thank you for another fantastic story and emotional rollercoaster ride.

🎧📚🎧 Andi Arndt and Teddy Hamilton were the perfect cast to bring these characters to life and did so with a complete understanding of who they were, giving each a voice that was suitable and believable. Arndt was a natural in Billie’s role, grasping every aspect of her personality, from witty quirkiness to her insecurities. Hamilton was just as amazing in his role as Brett, and he, too, grasped all sides of his personality, from his confident and angsty side, to his over protectiveness. Both were fantastic performing the roles of the secondary characters, too. They set the perfect tone for the story, captured all the characters’ emotions and had you feeling them all. These entertaining storytellers are a pleasure to listen to and their narration elevated this already amazing story to another level. Thank you for another wonderful listen.

When Billie was young, she survived a serial killer, but lost her best friend and her family in the process. A few days later she lost her mom and brother. She found a family who took her in as their own but she’s stayed under the radar since.

Brett Broudou is a broody football player. The two met at a news station when they each have segments and are instantly drawn to each other. The two dance around each other until Brett bites the bullet. But when the serial killer becomes eligible for parole, more of Billie’s loved ones end up dead and she becomes a target. Now Brett has to not only be her football hero, but her literal hero.

I didn’t really love any of these characters. They seemed kind of bland / boring. I had high hopes for this story because I’ve heard great things about Tijan and their stories but this left me somewhat unsatisfied.

I found the overall plot to be very interesting but I think a lot of the details were just so drawn out that I got bored a handful of times.

I gave this story 3 stars, but given the narration, I gave an overall 4 stars. Teddy Hamilton and Andi Arndt are great for this story.

This book had a lot of potential the narrators did a great job. I don’t know which one is which Andi Arndt or Teddy Hamilton but I think they’re both talented with the whole drama that happened in the middle would’ve made for a really good book but I did not like Willow and thought she ask questions like a child not a grown adult and although the narrator sounded really great the dialogue almost made breath sound like a cartoon character. Also if I had just met a guy and he immediately starts dropping out bombs then I automatically know that’s not a man for me. I mean who talks like that someone they just met… I guess it does! This book could’ve been so much better but the conversations took too long and as I said I did not take to Willow in her personality I’m sure some people will love this but I am not one of those people. I want to thank Net Galley and the publisher for my free arc copy please forgive any mistakes as I am blind and dictate my review.

I was really interested and surprised by this book when I found out it was Brett Broudou’s book. And he’s an interesting character.
But Billie… to put it nicely, she’s weird. And naturally has the typical Tijan FMC characteristic of being emotionally damaged and cut off from the world. But her thing with the chickens… it was a little much for me.
I felt like there was a lot going on in this book. The relationship, Brett’s family, Billie’s past, Travis… it’s a lot and in the end, everything is lumped in together and it’s not great.
And speaking of Travis, what was his point? At one stage you think one thing of him, and then it comes to nothing.
I used to love Tijan, but this isn’t a favourite.

This book was great! I love romantic suspense so much, and I feel like Tijan did a wonderful job spinning the mystery. I felt all of the trauma, fear, and exhilaration Billie and Brett did. Brett is such an amazing man. I loved how much he immediately loved and supported Billie. He’s the best! I also loved her found family and their unconditional support of Billie. This book was beautiful and wholesome while keeping me hooked by the suspense.
I had the amazing honor of reading AND listening to this book, and Andi and Teddy did SUCH an amazing job. They performed in such a way that made me feel the emotions so much deeper. I absolutely loved this audio!

I enjoyed this book so much. It took quite a few very unexpected turns and had my jaw dropping at some of the twists. This was my first Tijan book, so I'm not even sure what I was expecting, but that wasn't it.

I really loved Brett, he was so protective and possessive of Billie and he cared so deeply for his family. He had some doubts about her for a split second in the beginning due to his past, but once he got over that he was all in and hung onto her for dear life. Billie was an interesting character, I felt like in some areas she was so mature and wise beyond her years, but at other times her character had a very teenage vibe. Overall I did really like her as well.

The audio was so good. Teddy is a god as usual and Andi is another one of my favorites. I had such a great day listening to them tell this story.

I liked the mystery/true crime side of the story more than the romance. The romance was very spicy and intense. The mystery had me hooked though.

Such a good listen! Andi Arndt and Teddy Hamilton are a joy to listen to. I love that it was suspenseful as well as a love story-I truly was stumped til the end! This is the first book from Tijan that I've read but I've so enjoyed their writing I will definitely be reading more!

Thank you Netgalley, Dreamscape Media and Tijan for the ALC for my honest review.

This read like a weird fan fiction novel. Like maybe it was supposed to be Travis & Taylor? There were just a lot of strange similarities.

This book would be great if it was split into two different stories. I love the background of Willows story, and I love Brett's story. But combined in the same book was a bit much. Still a great premises. I enjoyed the twists of the stories.

WOW!!! I FELL IN LOVE WITH THIS BOOK!!

If you have not read a Tijan book yet you are missing out!!!! She has the innate ability to spellbind you into her books with the power of her story telling! I could not his pause on this audiobook!! The whole storyline is so unique, addicting, mysterious, thrilling and entertaining!! It was a rollercoaster of a journey that had me emotional, on the edge of my seat, and also falling in love with Billie and Brett during all of it! I cannot explain just how AMAZING this story is! If you’re looking for a football romance mixed with a tragic past and a murder mystery then this is the story for you!

Football Romance
Tragic Past
Romantic Suspense
Serial Killer Survivor
Insta Lust
Protective Hero
Found Family

This book is SO GOOD going in blind and watching everything unfold so I’m going to keep this brief! Billie has a very tragic past. She is the only person to survive the Midwest Butcher serial killer at the age of 12 and watched another family get murdered. Ever since then she has been lying low and trying to stay out of the spotlight and unwanted attention. One day she is doing a rare television interview to support a cause and has an adorable meet cute with the football star Brett Brouduo. There are instantly sparks flying. However, what happens when the man you meet is a national star and you are used to being able to hide spotlight??

There is SO MUCH MORE to this story with all the suspense and mystery as well as some secrets from Brett’s rough past as well. This is a book that will have you second guessing everything while remaining captured into an incredibly well written story!! I cannot wait to go back to read the Fallen Crest series from Tijan now!!

🎧AUDIO REVIEW:
Andi Arndt & Teddy Hamilton were so just perfectly casted for these characters and delivered a phenomenal performance!!! I could not hit pause as their narration made this such an easy listen and had me captured into each and every word they spoke! Andi narrates most of the book as it is told from Billie’s POV for a lot of it but she just has the kind of voice that makes you completely feel the words of the story with her ability to adjust her tone to fit the narrative. It makes the audio such an easy and enjoyable listen! She captured all the emotions Billie goes through and truly makes her feel like a real person! Then there is Teddy whose voice truly embodies a football player and made me love Brett even more! He’s got a sultry and swoony tone to his voice but also adjusts his tone so well during the different parts including the alpha protective moments of the story too! Overall, I HIGHLY recommend listening to this one on audio as it just heightens the feelings of this book and makes you feel like you’re watching a movie with everything that plays out!!

Not a lot of sports just mentions of being a football player. Lots of suspense and didn’t see that coming thoughts. Really well written and thought out storylines, I was surprised by revelations. I was sucked into the story from the beginning. Definitely will read more Tijan books.

I will objectively say that this book is not bad, in fact I think many readers will absolutely love this one. I, for one, found it to be entertaining but I didn't really love the relationship between the characters. I think the concept of big, protective, hunky man who protects his woman with a traumatic past is great and all but it was a bit insta-lust for me and I didn't really feel the connection there. I felt like Brett was a hothead and I didn't really care for him, rich athlete or not. For me the sports romance/serial killer crossover on this one didn't work for me either although I wouldn't write it off. I did love the chickens!! I also really liked the found family aspect of this book even if I think the "sister" was annoying at times.
This was my first Tijan book but I will definitely read more from this author in the future. The audiobook narrators were excellent!

Thank you NetGalley, Dreamscape Media and Tijan for the ALC in exchange for an honest review.

Great storyline with perfect narrative. The narrators have done a brilliant job of portraying Billie and Brett both. After Surviving the serial killer Butcher and losing her family, Billie has struggled a lot and her feelings and emotions are described deeply. I liked her foster family and Britt, everyone helped her to feel loved and cared for. The passion between the two central characters is quite literally, page burning. The tension, suspense and mystery buildup is superb and climax was quite good. Recommended. Thanks to Netgalley and Dreamscape Media for the audio copy.

I found so many of the characters traits conflicting, it felt longer than it needed to be, it did not hold my attention at times and the romance was entirely rushed and brushed over with lust to get to the overarching plot.

Brett is a broody star football player who doesn't let anyone in and comes from a very shady past. Even though this book is written from two POVs, I don't feel that we actually got to know Brett very well which made it hard for me to understand to his character.

Billie is a sweet and slightly nerdy girl who is the only survivor - at 12 years old - of a notorious serial killer. She is a bit of a social pariah, but is strong and well trained to keep herself safe with various contingencies in place.

Don't get me wrong, I love a protective/possessive alpha-hole as much as the next girl, HOWEVER the way this was presented was just not it for this storyline in my opinion. Billie survived while hiding under the bed at her friends house as her friend's entire family gets slaughtered. The entire world knows this... and yet, Brett seems to think it's perfectly acceptable to use his physical size to back her into a corner, touch and grab her (not intimately) without her consent TWICE both while she was on a date with another man - who also was giving major red flags. A woman who shies away from physical touch and has experienced trauma and who you met because of her doing an interview for domestic violence? That's who you think its okay to use your physical size for intimidation and put your hands on without consent? Nope. Nuh-uh.. didn't like it. Like i said, I'm down for an alpha-hole and those things in the right context, but this just wasn't it.

Brett and Billie were straight up horny for each other - which is fine. There was very little romance, it was strictly "you're hot, I wanna bang you, you're mine forever now" with next to no relationship building or development. I feel like exploring this relationship more would have done wonders for character development. Even once they got together, I expected him to dote on her and romance her a bit, but nope. He went straight into agrumentative overbearing asshole, who did not allow her any to have any autonomy. Also, he basically forced her to expose her every secret and horor filled traumatic moment (most of which is public, but still), and refused to share ANYTHING with her about his past.

*spoiler warning*

It seemed incredibly convenient that while dragging up all of Billie's crazy history, the media never once mentioned that her brother's body was never found at the scene of the car accident? Also, I suspected that the butcher was Billie's father, but the revelation about her mother attempting to commit a murder-suicide like 3 days after Billie had to listen to her father murder her friend's entire family? How about getting your son some help and supporting your daughter through her trauma rather than dumping her in the foster system and fucking reporting that your husband/ex beats the shit out of you and is a serial killer. I understand Billie's mom was a scared victim of domestic violence, but if she knew that he was starting to show his son the ropes, she also clearly knew he was killing people too.

None of it sat well with me and was all just too convenient or too ridiculous to be believable.

I received an audiobook copy of this for my honest review.

If you're a true crime/serial killer fan, and also a fan of romance, this could be for you. Our FMC was the only survivor of a serial killer, and she was giving a rare interview when she runs into our MMC, the new star football player with a troubled past. There is an instant connection, but hesitation due to their pasts, which is why he keeps crashing her dates and she keeps letting him. They try not to bring the spotlight to her, just in case someone tries to finish what happened when she was 12 - but dating a pro football player causes unwanted attention. Especially since there is a new copycat which seems to be coming right for her!

I love the narrators for this dual POV audiobook of Andi Arndt and Teddy Hamilton

My Anti-Hero by Tijan was a heartfelt, suspenseful romance that had me guessing till the very end. This was an enjoyable listen, but I felt the first part of it moved slowly, so it took me a while to get invested in Billie and Brett's romance. Once all the pieces of the plot were set in motion, I became a little more interested. The spice was HOT, and the ending had me on the edge of my seat.

Andi Arndt and Teddy Hamilton both delivered passionate performances that helped me stay interested in the story. Andi did most of the narration and captured Billie's past fears, vulnerabilities, and love for Brett perfectly. Teddy's warm mellow voice gave protective alpha pro footballer, Brett an irresistible persona that will make you fall hard.

Overall, I enjoyed parts of the book, but feel like it could have been a little shorter.
