Thanks to Netgalley for this gift of a reading journal.
It seems as though this would be helpful, but I am reviewing hundreds of books and audiobooks, so I don't have a lot of time to populate this, paste graphics, etc. Would be much better if somehow they had worked with a group of programmers and it could be auto-populated with the graphics in your library, books you have already reviewed, with that review, etc.
It would take programming time, but it would then be imminently useful! As it is, I can't imagine taking all the time it would take to manually populate this.
Easier to continue as I currently do, write a review after I read (books) or listen to (audiobooks) and then write a review in a notes application, where they are automatically stored and backed up. Then, as I have a chance and after I have accumulated a few, I post reviews en masse, one by one.
This could be a most useful and helpful tool. I hope that they continue and work with this so it auto-populates as mentioned above. For now, I will keep moving forward as I have been, reading and listening and posting reviews until I can get my % of read / reviewed up high enough and maintained. An effective EASY to use tool that would REALLY help with this would be excellent and highly appreciated.
I’ve been looking for a digital reading journal as I’m someone so writes my reviews in a scrappy old notebook so this will for sure keep my
logging neat. Thanks NetGalley.
Thank you so much for resources like this! It really is appreciated. The Reading Journal is gorgeous and this user guide provides a lot of useful information. I can only recommend it.
What a great way to track the books that you read. I have really enjoyed using this journal. It has inspired me to read and look forward to finishing book in 2024.
I wish that the journal would have been made to work on my computer. That is the way that I usually track things that I am doing.
Thanks to NetGalley for making this available.
Thank you for the day to follow directions! It made using the journal so much easier, so I truly appreciate it.
This was a great user guide that explained everything I need to know about the reading journal. I can’t wait to start using my reading journal and I’m so glad this user guide explained everything and I have no questions.
The NetGalley Reading Journal User Guide is designed as a supplemental resource for those using the NetGalley Reading Journal. The primary function is to walk readers through how to use the Reading Journal in their notes app of choice (or—one of NetGalley's suggested apps—though I imagine others are similar).
This is a short enough guide that I think in a physical form (never mind that a physical reading journal would render this unnecessary!) this would have been better off integrated into the main journal rather than as a separate file; however, I can see why in a PDF form (with the reading journal uploaded to an app) it might be better to leave these pages out of it.
If you're going to test out the NetGalley Reading Journal and are unfamiliar with apps that might be useful/necessary, this will be a helpful resource; however, if you're already pretty tech-savvy or have an app in mind, you can probably go straight for the journal without these instructions.
Thank you to NetGalley for providing this user guide for the NetGalley Reading Journal. This was useful and helped me start my reading journal
This guide was extremely user-friendly in explaining how to use the reading journal. I especially appreciated the suggestion of what app to use to get the best experience and how to navigate the file within the app.
nice gadget, normally I keep my books on goodreads, but I'm giving this a try too, btw how long are 100 characters???
Very helpful excited to try and see how it works on my tablet fingers crossed it will work
I got to have my son help me
I wish we could have had more than one app suggestion per OS. I’m not sure how helpful this will actually be since I’ve yet to have a chance to really try out the journal to need help. But we’ll see. I’m hopeful.
This isn't really helping me. I am trying to "paste" book covers to my journal and I can't. I don't get the option to paste, the ctrl V doesn't seem to work and long pressing on my tablet does nothing. I don't think that xodo is a very good app to use, as the directions in this journal don't seem to line up with the actual app.
Seeing that I don't use goodnotes or xodo, this was confusing. I'm not about to get another app to use a journal that I can actually have in hand. Not knowing this required additional items, I'm been frustrated for weeks trying to use it in adobe. It just seems unnecessary.
Not very helpful or user friendly. I had hoped this would help me be able to use the Reading Journal that I downloaded, but it did not.
Thank you netgalley for posting this user guide for the reading journal! This was a super helpful resource that will help me keep track of my 2024 reads! This was so easy to read and I cannot wait to use it!
This user guide was so helpful! I really appreciated having this at my fingertips. Big thanks to NetGalley for offering its users something to make writing reviews easier.
These are somewhat helpful. I still dont get it. Is it me, is it the program/app? Is it the instructions? We may never know.
Thank you NetGalley for the free Reading Journal and User Guide. This provided useful instruction for the Reading Journal!
Thank-you Netgalley! This had all the additional info needed to easily use the NetGalley Reading Journal.
