Very simply beautiful. A sweet story that actually has a couple of twists in there I didn’t see coming. The artwork is lovely and this a great family story.

My Friend Tree was such a fun book to read! The illustrations really added to the poetic writing. The story of the boy and girl also connect the reader to what is happening. This book leaves the reader with the desire to contribute to nature, which is why I think the instructions at the end were a nice added touch. Overall, it was a beautiful story that showed the importance of nature in a new and unique way!

A simple loving story about a tree shared by two friends as they grow up ends with a lesson in how to grow a tree from an acorn. Perfect!
The illustrations by Geneviève Godbout are simple, meaningful, imaginative, clear, and with gentle colors.
Well suited for reading WITH someone of any age including ESL, and great for gifting to anyone, and especially to a school or teacher or your public library!

This is a very touching story about trees standing and watching over humankind with our hardly noticing. Such a delightful turn of events between our two main characters in the end!

This book has beautiful illustrations. I loved the heartfelt story it gave and how the tree grew with the kids to adulthood. This book also has elements of science for kids as well.

Quick read, written as a poem which always seem to appeal to me for children's books more than if they are just written.
Cute little story too but the pictures were adorable.
Great children's book to have on a shelf.

My Friend Tree is about a young boy and girl’s love of a large oak tree and their love that grows from friendship to starting a family of their own. The metaphor for adults is clear, friendships and relationships are beautiful, valuable things that provide so much for us and in return when we nurture and care for them, they grow and continue to hold and support us. For the kids, it’s a sweet story of what happens when you care for nature and your friends. The artwork is bright and immersive and the diversity of the characters is beautiful. If you’re looking for a tender story that both kids and adults will appreciate, this is the book for you.

I read this book to my little sister. She wanted this book because she’s big on preserving nature and keeping our environment clean, so I knew she’d like it. Unsurprisingly, she did.
The illustrations were simple but cozy, and the plot was good. We liked how it was about children who are friends with a tree and grow up with it. It was very sweet to see their love for their friend tree and how they plant seeds so that more trees can grow. The tree is evidently very important to them, and they love the tree even after they’ve grown up.
The message in this story is one everyone should know. Appreciate nature and do your best to help it grow. Love nature, because it is beautiful and it too deserves to flourish, just like you do..

The illustrations are soft and warm, and perfectly capture the golden filtered light under a tree. Told in equally soft, warm, simple and lyrical prose, the story gently explores the different roles the tree plays, both in its environment, and through the cycle of life. This book is an easy five stars. It’s simple text will make it more easily accessible for children to read, and I think their grown ups will love sharing this read with them.

I really want to love this book so much because the message is good but there is one illustration that really does not sit right with me. There is this one page where the boy has a slingshot in his hand and judging by the angle, he could well be aiming at the little girl's backside. I am sorry, but that picture has put me right off the book.

I liked the detailed illustrations in this book but I found the text was trying a bit too hard to rhyme, at the expense of the feel of the story. I also felt that it went on too long and could have probably ended at about half way.

Awwwww! This book is the absolute sweetest! Watch the illustrations carefully with this one if you want the full impact of the story. I had a favorite tree as a kid. I still remember it and the games we played together fondly even though she is a continent away and I haven't seen her in over 30 years.

This book is a beautifully illustrated story about our character's relationship with a tree. From climbing to daydreaming, to picnicking beneath the canopy, this tree provides enjoyment for two young friends. As our main characters mature, the tree grows along with them and as our friends get older and start families, they plant the seed of the next generation of trees. I found the illustrations to be lovely to look at, however, the words were not always easy to read aloud in rhyme as the desire to rhyme became more important than the flow of the story. Kids won't mind but adults who read will find different ways to tell the story.

The cover and the drawing style were what instantly drew me to requesting this little book. I loved the drawings and coloring in the pages and the story is so simple, yet so emotional. The pages follow two children while they grow loving a tree and everything that nature has to offer. While they grow, they help other trees grow and thrive. Really appreciated the ending with the instructions on how to plant and acorn and grow your own tree. If you have children, it might be a fascinating and fun game/experiment to do with them.

This story follows two children as they grow and their shared love for a tree. They describe what the tree provides for them, and the ending made me love this story so much more. I love that this book includes steps to plant your own acorn and is printed on recycled paper.

Thank you NetGalley and Quarto Publishing Group for this ARC. All opinions are my own.

What a sweet poetic picture book! This book tells a beautiful story of two young children growing up and falling in love under their favorite tree, and growing their own family while also growing more trees. I feel like it's a beautiful ode to the circle of life as well as to nature and the way it changes with us. I would recommend this book for other parents looking for a picture book with poetry included.

A more original idea for a book, My Friend Tree was a cute and educational children’s book. Most of the education came at the end to instruct how to plant and grow your own tree from an acorn, which I thought would be a really fun project to do with your child. The main portion of the book was about friends/family bonding over an oak tree, which gave me some of The Giving Tree vibes. This is a book I’d recommend for any outdoor-loving kid.
