IT CAME FROM THE LAKE [of course it did!] by Maine author Glenn Rolfe is a harrowing tale which immediately suspends disbelief in cryptozoological possibilities with its gripping, then terrifying, Reader's hook. Forget the "Poetic Justice," this is an implacable and unavoidable Horror situated at a quiet isolated forested Maine lake. Despite the local rumors and legends, almost nobody (except the caretaker) actually believes.

In trademark Rolfe fashion, following the initial terror, the Horror gets sneaky and subtle, while author Rolfe cleverly elicits our empathy for several innocent characters drawn into this unfolding incredible reality. Prepare for some sleepless nights after reading this startling novella!

It Came From the Lake is the latest in blood-curdling horror from Glenn Rolfe.

This novel is a gripping creature feature that delivers unsettling terror and keeps the reader on the edge of their seat the whole time. It follows a myriad of characters as they interact in and around this small town ultimately culminating in the terrifying conclusion involving something from everyone's darkest nightmares.

I can truly say that I could not put this story down. I found myself devouring it late into the evening and finished this around 3 AM and had to keep the lights on. The gruesome deaths in this story prove that Glenn Rolfe is not afraid to pull any punches. He delivers some pulse-pounding gore and I felt the deaths were truly a creative way to image this creature of folk terror.

The pacing of this story is unrelenting as well. I found myself gasping at the end of each of the chapters (which are short and direct to the point). Readers are absolutely going to devour this story unless the lake creature just so happens to devour them first. No one is safe, and the stakes are high - check this out! You won't be disappointed!
