This book was requested when I was young and requested more books than I could possibly read. Sadly, I no longer have access to this book and my tastes have changed. Thus I will not be able to give feedback on this title.
I know this is a memoir, but I just didn't connect with the author. I was uninspired by the food or the events. I know lots of people liked it, so I'll just go with the fact that it wasn't the book for me right now.
I love stories that are told through rose-colored glasses so I enjoyed this. The adventures of a diplomatic wife, "stuck" in Paris when her husband is sent to the middle east makes for enjoyable reading. I admire anyone who is able to travel alone and enjoy what they see and eat.
I really liked this book about French food and cooking. With recipes!! Of course, I'm inclined to like any book about French food.
I've been on a Francophile kick of late and this book certainly satisfied the craving. Anyone who loves France and food and the intersection of the two will enjoy this read.
