Nicholas Sparks has always been a go to author for me. This book was filled with such thought provoking love that it truly aligns with the rest of his novels. This is a heartfelt story about family, love, and faith.

This was such a great read. I loved the story and couldn’t put it down. I love the way he interconnects the characters throughout the story.

As a long time Nicolas Sparks fan and an Army wife, this book touched my heart in all of the good ways! Sparks has such a fantastic way of weaving his stories into our hearts! I felt connected to the characters! Such a fantastic book

Nicholas Sparks once again delivers a beautifully written, emotionally rich novel with Counting Miracles. From the very first page, I was drawn into the lives of the characters, their struggles, and their journey toward hope and healing. The story is filled with heartfelt moments, deep emotions, and just the right touch of romance and inspiration.
What I loved most was the way Sparks masterfully captures human resilience and the power of love. The characters felt real and relatable, and their growth throughout the novel was both moving and satisfying. His signature storytelling—filled with warmth, depth, and just the right amount of heartache—shines through in this book.
Fans of Sparks’ previous works will not be disappointed. Counting Miracles is a beautiful reminder that even in the face of challenges, there is always hope. Highly recommend!

ONE never knows when starting a Nicholas Sparks book if it will be a Romance or Women's fiction, as the author is a unicorn, a male romance writer, who doesn't always end his books with the required HEA to make it a Romance. I'm not going to provide a spoiler to say which one this is. But this book is also full of tragedy.
The three main characters are Tanner Hughes, Dr. Kaitlyn Cooper and Jasper Johnson. Tanner was raised by his grandparents after his single mother died in childbirth. His grandfather was Army, so he traveled the world with them when he was growing up. He followed in his grandfather's footsteps, and after 15 years, he retired and went into security work. He worked for USAID. The author and the character must be shocked to what DOGE has found out about this money pit of taxpayers dollars, used as a slush fund, to the ridiculous and the terrifying, sending money to Hamas, PA, Al Qaeda, Iran and other enemies and exporting WOKE ideology to the third world. When his grandmother dies, she leaves him a bombshell- the name of his biological father, a name his grandparents never told him before. So while he is crossing the country, visiting the families of his brothers in arms, who didn't make it back home, or died at their own hands, he starts a search and ends up in Asheboro, North Carolina. Kaitlyn is divorced and raising her two children, after her husband left her for a pilates instructer. Jasper has lived the life of Job. He too was raised by his father after his mother died and was lost when his father joined her while he was still a teen. His grandfather and father both religious men had both witnessed miracles, and Jasper was too. Eventually he married, raised a family and grew a business, to lose it all in one fell swoop. The author skillful weaves the three into a heartbreaking story, as only he can.

Counting Miracles is a heartfelt story about a man who learns his true father’s identity from his grandmother and embarks on a journey to find him. Along the way, he discovers love, family, and stability—things he has longed for his entire life.
As a huge Nicholas Sparks fan, I wasn’t sure what to expect when I started reading Counting Miracles, but I was quickly captivated. The book is beautifully written, with a tender and sweet narrative that kept me hooked. There were moments when I was on the edge of my seat, completely immersed in the story. It made me cry, feel anger, and experience heartbreak, often wishing I could step into the pages to be part of the characters' world. This book holds a special place in my heart for many reasons.
I especially loved the inclusion of Bible verses throughout the story, which added depth and inspiration. The multiple points of view enriched the narrative, offering insight into each character's thoughts and emotions. The book thoughtfully explores how past experiences—both sorrowful and joyful—shape moments of revelation and personal growth.
Counting Miracles is a story of hope, healing, and the power of miracles. The characters felt incredibly real, and their struggles and triumphs resonated deeply with me. I found myself wanting to comfort them, to reassure them that everything would be okay.
Jasper's story, in particular, touched me profoundly. His pain and loneliness were palpable, and my heart ached for him, especially when he was left alone in the forest. I was overwhelmed with emotion, hoping nothing bad would happen to him. The bond between Jasper and his dog, Arlo, was especially moving. Arlo's unwavering loyalty and bravery in seeking help for Jasper was a testament to the strength of their companionship.
The ending was beautiful and filled me with hope. It served as a reminder to never give up, no matter how difficult life gets.
A personal note: This book was published on my birthday, September 24, which makes it even more special to me. Perhaps that’s part of why I connected with it so deeply, but I truly believe its message of hope and healing will resonate with many readers.

Counting Miracles is a novel about whether we can change or not and make peace with the path we have taken. This is a wonderful read that will have you turning pages until the very end. The author wrote this well and I was captivated from the first page. All of the characters in this were wonderful and I liked Kaitlyn a lot. Overall, this is one that I highly enjoyed and would recommend to any reader who loves romance books. Thank you to NetGalley and Random House for this wonderful read in exchange of my honest review of Counting Miracles by Nicholas Sparks.

This is the first Nicholas Sparks book I have read in a long time. I forgot how smoothly Sparks' words flow. He has mastered evoking emotions that he wants the reader to feel. The one thing I struggled with throughout the book is the higher power element. As someone who does not strongly follow faith I struggled through parts of the book.
I did feel that this is a MUST read book for anyone seeking direction to find themselves, who may feel alone or lost, who may feel lost. This book can be for anyone.

Read like a typical Hallmark storyline, not that that’s horrible, but you knew how it would all go together. I did like the spiritual and scriptural influence. One thing I really enjoy was knowing every location of the book since it was based in my hometown.

Thank you to the publisher for this one.
This was fine. Sparks is a favorite, though I feel like he can never quite hit the way his earlier books did. However, his writing was on point and he draws you in to the story.

Another. Fulminate, captivating story by Nicholas Sparks. A book that will tug at your heart strings and leave you cheering for the characters. A touching tear jerker!

I loved this Nicholas Sparks book. This story was about Tanner who had lost the grandparents who raised him, but on his grandmother's deathbed she tells him who his father is and where he lives. Tanner sets out to find him. Kaitlyn is a woman he meets after her daughter backs into him. He is immediately drawn to her and finds he can't stay away. Jasper is an older gentleman who has had a really rough go of it. This is a story of how they are all connected.

Thank you to the author and NetGalley for allowing me an ARC of the story. Overall I really liked the story. The characters were loveable and I got really attached to Jasper and Arlo. I cried whenever I got sad about them. The author definitely knows how to pull your heart strings! Overall, I would give this 4/5 stars!

"Counting Miracles" is another charming tale from Nicholas Sparks. Two interconnected stories are woven throughout, with one of them following the budding romance of Tanner Hughes and Kaitlyn Cooper, and the other tracing the life and history of an elderly neighbor of Kaitlyn's, Jasper Johnson.
The one dissatisfaction I have with the story is that there was one individual who was heading for major trouble that was never set straight in the story. But otherwise, I found both the characters and storyline engaging. I have to admit to liking Jasper and his dog, Arlo, the most, although Kaitlyn and her kids, and Tanner were all good characters as well.
In Jasper's arc, we find a man who once had a very strong faith that had been instilled in him from two generations of Christian men before him. Yet, the experiences of Jasper's life had called his faith into question. So he understandably wrestled with where a loving God was in all that he'd been through. And I think that struggle is something that many of us feel at one time or another. So, my heart went out to him.
Thank you to Nicholas Sparks, Random House, and NetGalley for an advance review copy.

Nicolas Sparks just has a way with words that draws you into the story and doesn’t let go. Just like his many other books, Counting Miracles was deeply emotionally. The characters find their lives intertwined and take on a path of discovery together. This was a beautiful story that I definitely recommend.

I enjoyed reading this book. It was a journey through the trails of life that restores faith. Life doesn’t come with guarantees and it will test your faith. This story tells of a man who seems to have lost all he holds dear and feels as if God has stopped blessing him only to realize God saved him for a true miracle that restores his faith in God’s love for him.

In Counting Miracles, Nicholas Sparks weaves a beautiful, emotional tapestry of love, loss, and the unexpected connections that change our lives. Tanner Hughes, a free-spirited Army Ranger, finds himself drawn back to his roots after the passing of his beloved grandmother, who leaves him with a parting message that sets him on a path to uncover his past and find where he truly belongs. What he doesn't expect is to find it in Asheboro, North Carolina, where he meets Kaitlyn Cooper, a doctor and single mother, who seems to have a past of her own that she's not yet ready to share.
Sparks expertly crafts the bond between Tanner and Kaitlyn, highlighting the complexities of love and commitment, especially when both characters are haunted by their own uncertainties and pasts. Tanner's journey to uncover his father’s identity intertwines with the poignant story of Jasper, an elderly man living alone in a cabin, obsessed with protecting a legendary white deer. As the threads of their stories weave together, the sense of fate and interconnectedness becomes undeniable, culminating in a miracle that none of them expected.
The novel is quintessential Sparks, balancing heartwarming romance with moments of deep introspection and tragedy. The setting of Asheboro is charming, with a small-town atmosphere that feels like a character in itself. The story also touches on themes of healing, forgiveness, and finding peace in unexpected places.
Counting Miracles is a tale that will resonate with readers who enjoy poignant, slow-burn romances, with the added intrigue of a deeply woven mystery. Sparks once again proves his ability to craft stories that are both tender and uplifting, reminding us that miracles often come when we least expect them. This book is perfect for those who enjoy an emotional journey, filled with heart, hope, and the possibility of redemption.

Nicholas Sparks has never let me down. I loved that this book was set in Asheboro and that the white deer was spotted around the area. I live in the general area of the state and we do have a lot of white deer so that was a fun little connection. I also loved the emphasis on the zoo. The attention Nicholas Sparks brings to North Carolina makes my North Carolinian heart so happy. I do think this book was wrapped up too nicely whereas I preferred the ending of "The Wish" more.

I have never picked up a book by Nicholas Sparks and not fallen in love, Counting Miracles is no different.
Tanner Hughes, was raised by his grandparents, and always has been an adventurer with no plans to settle down. Curious about finding out the identity of his father, he travels to North Carolina, where he meets Kaitlyn Cooper, a doctor, and single mom, and they form an instant connection.
Meanwhile, Jasper, an elderly man, is haunted greatly by a past tragedy, and is currently fixated on protecting a white deer.
When their stories converge they will make you believe in miracles.
Sparks has a way with words, that moves your soul and makes you believe in magic and the goodness of people. I think it is impossible to read this book and not get out of it, hope.
I can not recommend this book enough- it is a must read for anyone who is looking for love, looking for a read to lift your spirits, or just wants a good heartfelt story.

Counting Miracles is everything I love about Nicholas Sparks’ books—deeply emotional, beautifully written, and filled with characters that stay with you long after you turn the last page. This story tugs at the heartstrings in the best way, blending love, hope, and fate in a way that feels both magical and deeply real.
The romance is touching, the emotions run high, and there are plenty of those signature Sparks moments that make you tear up (or full-on cry). It’s the kind of book that reminds you why love stories matter. If you’re a fan of his work, this one is an absolute must-read!
