Spectacular book. But every book he writes is amazing. One of my few insta buy authors. I love the character growth and storyline. Can’t wait to read more by him.

Nicholas Sparks is an author I’ve enjoyed since I was a teenager, when I was captivated by “The Notebook” and “A Walk To Remember.” He’s an auto-read author for me because I know that I’ll find joy in reading his books. They’re filled with life, love, emotion and experience. Counting Miracles was a beautifully woven story of how our lives can intertwine in the most miraculous ways.
Tanner grew up raised by his grandparents, then set off to follow his grandfathers footsteps of joining the army. After training with Delta, multiple deployments, working for USAID, and other jobs overseas, Tanner finds himself back in the US to care for his grandmother before her passing. She leaves Tanner with a piece of information regarding the father he never knew. Tanner decides to venture to Asheboro, NC and see what he can find out about his biological father.
As Tanner is on this journey of finding out about his family, we’re introduced to a few more characters along the way. Watching their lives unfold in this small town and how they connect to each other is truly heart warming. The character development throughout the book is what makes it so incredible. The way Sparks evokes emotion and thought is what draws readers into his writing. While there are religious references to the Bible, God and faith, it’s also about suffering and overcoming.
“I remind myself that my broken heart also means that there was a time when it wasn’t broken, when my heart was light and full.”
Thank you to Random House Publishing Group Ballantine & Nicholas Sparks for this arc.

This book was a bit of a disappointment. I found Counting Miracles to miss the key element that made me a fan of Nicholas Sparks' work.
I was unable to connect with any characters which made the story fall flat. More often than not I had to force myself to continue to read this one.
Thank you to Netgalley and Random House for an advanced copy in exchange for my honest review.
2/5 stars

Thank you to Netgalley and Random House for the ARC of this book. I really enjoyed my time with this one. Nicholas Sparks books are like a security blanket for me. I grew up reading his books.
I love the way all of the story lines were interconnected with all of the characters! I felt like this was a mix of The Wish and Remarkably Bright Creatures which are also two of my favorite books.
Of course it was emotional but heartwarming like any other Sparks book!

This latest from Nicholas Sparks is an intergenerational tale of trauma and resilience and the search to find a place to belong. Jasper is a hermit in the woods of Asheboro who has been disfigured from a horrible accident. His life has become a form of penance as he ambles through the woods trying to make peace with his past. Tanner is an Army ranger who is searching for intel on the family he never knew. Kaitlyn is a single mom interested in finding a supportive partner. As their lives are intertwined it becomes clear that what is lost can be found and that connection can be found in family and friends alike. Thanks to Random House and NetGalley for the ARC. This is my honest review.

The story centers on Noah, a man struggling with the loss of his wife, who finds himself reconnecting with a woman named Emma, bringing both healing and new challenges into his life. Sparks deftly balances themes of grief, hope, and destiny, while delving into the intricacies of human relationships. Though the novel has his signature blend of romance and sorrow, it also carries an underlying message of resilience and the unexpected miracles that can shape our lives. Fans of Sparks’ work will appreciate the emotional depth and poignant storytelling.

This is the palette cleanser I needed! I always cry during Nicholas Sparks books and this one kept me sobbing like a baby. At first, I was only interested in the Tanner storyline, but Jasper quickly became my favorite character.

Nicholas Sparks has always been a go to author for me. This book was filled with such thought provoking love that it truly aligns with the rest of his novels. This is a heartfelt story about family, love, and faith.

This was such a great read. I loved the story and couldn’t put it down. I love the way he interconnects the characters throughout the story.

As a long time Nicolas Sparks fan and an Army wife, this book touched my heart in all of the good ways! Sparks has such a fantastic way of weaving his stories into our hearts! I felt connected to the characters! Such a fantastic book

Nicholas Sparks once again delivers a beautifully written, emotionally rich novel with Counting Miracles. From the very first page, I was drawn into the lives of the characters, their struggles, and their journey toward hope and healing. The story is filled with heartfelt moments, deep emotions, and just the right touch of romance and inspiration.
What I loved most was the way Sparks masterfully captures human resilience and the power of love. The characters felt real and relatable, and their growth throughout the novel was both moving and satisfying. His signature storytelling—filled with warmth, depth, and just the right amount of heartache—shines through in this book.
Fans of Sparks’ previous works will not be disappointed. Counting Miracles is a beautiful reminder that even in the face of challenges, there is always hope. Highly recommend!

ONE never knows when starting a Nicholas Sparks book if it will be a Romance or Women's fiction, as the author is a unicorn, a male romance writer, who doesn't always end his books with the required HEA to make it a Romance. I'm not going to provide a spoiler to say which one this is. But this book is also full of tragedy.
The three main characters are Tanner Hughes, Dr. Kaitlyn Cooper and Jasper Johnson. Tanner was raised by his grandparents after his single mother died in childbirth. His grandfather was Army, so he traveled the world with them when he was growing up. He followed in his grandfather's footsteps, and after 15 years, he retired and went into security work. He worked for USAID. The author and the character must be shocked to what DOGE has found out about this money pit of taxpayers dollars, used as a slush fund, to the ridiculous and the terrifying, sending money to Hamas, PA, Al Qaeda, Iran and other enemies and exporting WOKE ideology to the third world. When his grandmother dies, she leaves him a bombshell- the name of his biological father, a name his grandparents never told him before. So while he is crossing the country, visiting the families of his brothers in arms, who didn't make it back home, or died at their own hands, he starts a search and ends up in Asheboro, North Carolina. Kaitlyn is divorced and raising her two children, after her husband left her for a pilates instructer. Jasper has lived the life of Job. He too was raised by his father after his mother died and was lost when his father joined her while he was still a teen. His grandfather and father both religious men had both witnessed miracles, and Jasper was too. Eventually he married, raised a family and grew a business, to lose it all in one fell swoop. The author skillful weaves the three into a heartbreaking story, as only he can.

Counting Miracles is a heartfelt story about a man who learns his true father’s identity from his grandmother and embarks on a journey to find him. Along the way, he discovers love, family, and stability—things he has longed for his entire life.
As a huge Nicholas Sparks fan, I wasn’t sure what to expect when I started reading Counting Miracles, but I was quickly captivated. The book is beautifully written, with a tender and sweet narrative that kept me hooked. There were moments when I was on the edge of my seat, completely immersed in the story. It made me cry, feel anger, and experience heartbreak, often wishing I could step into the pages to be part of the characters' world. This book holds a special place in my heart for many reasons.
I especially loved the inclusion of Bible verses throughout the story, which added depth and inspiration. The multiple points of view enriched the narrative, offering insight into each character's thoughts and emotions. The book thoughtfully explores how past experiences—both sorrowful and joyful—shape moments of revelation and personal growth.
Counting Miracles is a story of hope, healing, and the power of miracles. The characters felt incredibly real, and their struggles and triumphs resonated deeply with me. I found myself wanting to comfort them, to reassure them that everything would be okay.
Jasper's story, in particular, touched me profoundly. His pain and loneliness were palpable, and my heart ached for him, especially when he was left alone in the forest. I was overwhelmed with emotion, hoping nothing bad would happen to him. The bond between Jasper and his dog, Arlo, was especially moving. Arlo's unwavering loyalty and bravery in seeking help for Jasper was a testament to the strength of their companionship.
The ending was beautiful and filled me with hope. It served as a reminder to never give up, no matter how difficult life gets.
A personal note: This book was published on my birthday, September 24, which makes it even more special to me. Perhaps that’s part of why I connected with it so deeply, but I truly believe its message of hope and healing will resonate with many readers.

Counting Miracles is a novel about whether we can change or not and make peace with the path we have taken. This is a wonderful read that will have you turning pages until the very end. The author wrote this well and I was captivated from the first page. All of the characters in this were wonderful and I liked Kaitlyn a lot. Overall, this is one that I highly enjoyed and would recommend to any reader who loves romance books. Thank you to NetGalley and Random House for this wonderful read in exchange of my honest review of Counting Miracles by Nicholas Sparks.

This is the first Nicholas Sparks book I have read in a long time. I forgot how smoothly Sparks' words flow. He has mastered evoking emotions that he wants the reader to feel. The one thing I struggled with throughout the book is the higher power element. As someone who does not strongly follow faith I struggled through parts of the book.
I did feel that this is a MUST read book for anyone seeking direction to find themselves, who may feel alone or lost, who may feel lost. This book can be for anyone.

Read like a typical Hallmark storyline, not that that’s horrible, but you knew how it would all go together. I did like the spiritual and scriptural influence. One thing I really enjoy was knowing every location of the book since it was based in my hometown.

Thank you to the publisher for this one.
This was fine. Sparks is a favorite, though I feel like he can never quite hit the way his earlier books did. However, his writing was on point and he draws you in to the story.

Another. Fulminate, captivating story by Nicholas Sparks. A book that will tug at your heart strings and leave you cheering for the characters. A touching tear jerker!

I loved this Nicholas Sparks book. This story was about Tanner who had lost the grandparents who raised him, but on his grandmother's deathbed she tells him who his father is and where he lives. Tanner sets out to find him. Kaitlyn is a woman he meets after her daughter backs into him. He is immediately drawn to her and finds he can't stay away. Jasper is an older gentleman who has had a really rough go of it. This is a story of how they are all connected.

Thank you to the author and NetGalley for allowing me an ARC of the story. Overall I really liked the story. The characters were loveable and I got really attached to Jasper and Arlo. I cried whenever I got sad about them. The author definitely knows how to pull your heart strings! Overall, I would give this 4/5 stars!
