Another classic from Nicholas Sparks!! This is definitely different from his previous novels, but it was great nonetheless. I enjoyed the stories of each character and how Sparks' intertwines their stories together. One thing that wasn't really for me was the religious aspect of this book, but I tried to look past that. As a die-hard fan of Nicholas Sparks (I own and have read his whole list) I was SO EXCITED that I was accepted to read Counting Miracles as an ARC, so thank you NetGalley, Random House, and Nicholas Sparks for early access!

Not for me. I can see why a lot of people would like this but this is clearly not my kind of book. Thought I'd give it a try but it didn't work!

Counting Miracles by Nicholas Sparks revolves around the lives of Tanner, Kaitlyn, and Jasper as their paths cross. Unfortunately, I found it challenging to connect with the characters deeply. The romance between Kaitlyn and Tanner felt hurried, and their conversations didn't flow naturally. On the other hand, Jasper's character stood out with more depth and interest. As someone who typically enjoys Nicholas Sparks' writing, this book fell short for me. It was a struggle to get into the story, and there were moments when I wanted to give up, but I persisted and completed it.

I absolutely love Nicholas Sparks and enjoyed the opportunity to read his latest! This was a very interesting and heartwarming read, though very sad too at times. Although I was able to figure out what was happening fairly quickly, I still very much loved this book.

Anther winner by Nicholas Sparks! Great book about a single mom who is a doctor. She happens to meet a retired Army ranger named Tanner who is looking for his biological father. Then there’s an elderly gentlemen Jasper (and his dog Arlo) who is teaching a young boy how to whittle wood. I thought the author did a great job at telling the story and making the characters relatable.

I was expecting romance and intrigue and was surprised to come out of this with the story of the odd trio-Tanner, a single man digging into his family history, Kaitlyn, a single mom and doctor with an opportunity to have something just for her even if temporary and Jasper, a much older man who keeps to himself and enjoys the peace in nature.

Sparks brings Tanner and Kaitlyn into a chance meeting that has your heart fluttering and is able to run it along Jasper, thrilling plot that I was not at all anticipating. My heart was racing for a multitude of reasons. Romantic and horrific.

At the center of all of the adults are Kaitlyn’s children who see the need for care and love in the lives of the adults around them and set out to bring about that help as needed, not expecting the dark stories that lurk deep within the adults.

There is much excitement and eagerness to read this novel cover to cover due to the raised questions throughout that we end up dying for answers too. I found myself romanced as well as desperate and anxious throughout this novel-ultimately, I was impressed with the story and enjoyed the novel thoroughly

3.5 rounding up to 4 because cmon, it’s Nicholas sparks here.

I think the main reason this book was a little bit of a miss for me is that it didn’t really feel like a romance. The romance wasn’t romantic to me and it felt like a back burner part of the story.

Things I liked:
Single doctor mom raising her kids
The setting (as always)
The dog Arlo

The ending was incredibly predictable, to the point where I guessed it at the very start of the book. The writing itself was excellent as always but I just didn’t really connect with any of the characters. Tanner and Kaitlin’s romance felt forced to me and Jasper’s story was almost too sad and unimaginable to be believable.

Nevertheless, very thankful to NetGalley for the arc of this book and will always read a Nicholas sparks book.

Another thought provoking Nicholas Sparks book - this time the main character Tanner was an Army Ranger who has come back to his hometown after the death of his beloved grandmother. On her deathbed, she tells him something she has kept to herself for many years. Tanner travels to Asheville, NC for a little rest & relaxation before heading to his next security assignment in Africa. He does not expect to meet Kaitlyn Cooper. Tanner spends his time doing research on this family secret, hiking and becoming close to Kaitlyn & her children. When an elderly neighbor needs help, Tanner steps in and along the way discovers more about himself.

One of the best. Oh my goodness. I read this whole book in less than 24 hours. I haven't read a book in a long time, as I was listening to more on Audible, but reading a book is sooo much better. The characters were so clear in my mind and the references to the past were seamless. When Arlo protected Jasper, I panicked anticipating a not great/sad ending because let's face it, rarely does the perfect character make it out alike in these books, but...it was amazing.

This book was fabulous! I was hooked right away and couldn't get it out of my mind when I had to put it down.
These characters were so well created, I felt like I knew them in real life. I felt their fears and struggles, I rejoiced in their victories.
I would definitely recommend this book to anyone I know.

I am a huge fan of Nicholas Sparks and this one did not disappoint. AT ALL. I was taken on a journey that was a little more on the religious side than in his previous novels, but all the same it was a wonderful story. I had a few tears after reading this as his novels always bring up the emotions.

3.5/5 ⭐️
I was very excited when I got this ARC from NetGalley and couldn’t start reading it fast enough. I have been a fan of Nicholas Sparks for a very long time. Counting Miracles is a very sweet story, unfortunately it felt a bit long for me and the romance between the main characters felt a bit force to me. I still love his writing and will keep reading anything that he comes up with.

Another fantastic must read Nicholas Sparks book. It made me cry and I just want to hug Jasper. I fell in love with all the characters and their stories. An emotional ride for sure but so beautiful. A lot of biblical imagery and storytelling in this one with parallels of Jasper and Job. I enjoyed that.

As a collector of Nicholas Sparks novels, I was just a tad bit disappointed by this novel. There are two different storylines are at play and I couldn't connect with either character. This novel wasn't advertised as religious, but there are many themes of religion that were mentioned and Faith is a huge topic throughout the story. The romance between the love interests felt rushed and didn't feel thought out when compared to Sparks' other novels. I don't find myself reaching back to this novel, but I'd recommend it to patrons who are looking for a Nicholas Sparks novel that focuses on faith, trust, and religion. Not one of his best, but it's definitely a Nicholas Sparks novel because of the common plot of two characters falling in love with a side story that connects all characters together in the end, possibly by faith or serendipity.

Nicholas Sparks has always been one of my favorite authors, his style of storytelling pulls you in and the cadence plus the pace are always on par. I loved Counting Miracles, and can't wait to have a copy on my shelf. This one is a keeper.

Nicholas Sparks is one of my favorite authors due to his remarkable storytelling and I have read every single one of his books. He is one of those authors that I automatically buy his books.
Each of his books takes you on an emotional rollercoaster where someone falls in love and somehow breaks your heart with a trade by along the way. This story is no different, although the twist in the end was very obvious, I still thoroughly enjoyed the book and could not put it down. This book has quite a bit of bible references, which is part of the story but could be bothersome if you are not religious.
A special thanks to NetGalley for allowing me access to advanced copy. This is bound to be a hit on the best seller list! Mark your calendars for the release in September 2024.
