Listen- in my mind Nicholas Sparks does no wrong... ever... this was no exception. I was sooo stoked to find out I was approved for this ARC- I did not even know he was writing something new. I have read his books since High School and I have never been let down. This story has it all.
⭐️⭐️⭐️🌟
Counting Miracles by Nicholas Sparks-
I read a lot of books and this is honestly the first time I’ve read a @nicholassparks book! Counting Miracles follows 3 characters and highlights their personal histories, connecting them in a magical, romantic way, with an ending that brings the trio together as family. If you’re a fan of The Notebook, you’ll adore this book! I give it 4/5 stars simply because it was such a slow burn. I loved that it wasn’t predicable- it didn’t have the ending I thought it would! Overall I LOVED it, I’m a sucker for a good romance.
I really enjoyed this book! It’s a classic Nicholas Sparks novel that’s wholesome and the story comes full circle, which I always love.
The jumping between characters POV & backstory is tied together very well. I would have liked to see some POV from the younger characters but they played a sufficient role in the book.
Nicholas Sparks! I love his books and was so excited to be chosen to read this ARC! I finished it today and absolutely loved it. For awhile I felt like I was reading two different books-I couldn’t figure out where Jasper fit into the story of Tanner and Kaitlyn and why he was so important! I wanted to read more about Tanner and Kaitlyn and her children but Jasper kept popping up! As I read more it all came together beautifully. Loved the characters and as always-very well written. Thank you to NetGalley, Nicholas Sparks and Random House Publishing Group for the opportunity to read and review this ARC.
Wow! I just finished reading this and I'm wiping away tears. I cried so much the last 5-10% of the book. Such a beautiful story with so much true life lessons and deep meanings behind it. While this story may not be for you if you're not into biblical versus and references to God, it was for me as I am a woman of faith. This book does reference and quote many versuses in the Bible. I'm only noting that as others disliked it and gave it bad reviews for that reason, which I was shocked by. It was such a beautiful story about multiple characters and Nicholas Sparks beautifully had a way to intertwine their lives throughout the story. A part in the epilogue, I wish I could quote as it made me choke on my tears, but since it's an ARC I'm unable to quote it in my review. This is a MUST read book for anyone seeking to find themselves, who may feel lonely, who may feel lost, who may feel not good enough or like an outsider or who may feel like settling down to a place or person may not be in the cards for them...this is for any of those people. It's so beautifully written you'll easily be wrapped up in the story. You'll feel it deep down and it'll open your eyes, it'll make you feel and think so deeply. Just breathtaking!
I received this ARC from NetGalley and Random House Publishing Group to read/review. All of the statements above are my true opinions after fully reading this book.
I enjoyed reading this novel from the first page. The plot is captivating and well constructed. I would highly recommend this book to those, who are funs of N. Sparks' books and those, who just looking for a captivating book to read.
I’ve been an avid Sparks reader for years. His ability to develop heartwarming and tear jerking characters and stories is unparalleled. I absolutely fell in love with Jasper, his strength, integrity, and determination in this book. Sparks drove home thought provoking sentiments on the impacts of trauma on family, religion, and relationships. However, I did find it problematic how the male characters (Jasper & Tanner) have such intense, unique, and relatable personalities and history while the main female character, Kaitlyn, is pretty much reduced to being a single mom who sometimes struggles with her body image and sex life. It was disheartening to see such rich character development for the male characters while the female character was reduced to the stereotype of a divorced mom in her 40s. So for that, I did remove 1.5 stars from my rating— 3.5/5
Tanner Hughes was raised by his grandparents, following in his grandfather’s military footsteps and his life has been spent abroad. But when his grandmother passes away, she drops a bombshell, telling him the name of the father he never knew—and where he might be found. Tanner sets out for Asheboro, North Carolina, to ask around. He’s been in town less than twenty-four hours when he meets Kaitlyn Cooper, a doctor and single mom. They both feel an immediate connection; Tanner knows Kaitlyn has a story to tell, and he wants to hear it. For Kaitlyn, Tanner is mysterious, exciting—and possibly leaving in just a few weeks.
At the same time, eighty-three-year-old Jasper lives alone in a cabin bordering a national forest. With only his old dog Arlo for company, he lives quietly, haunted by a tragic accident that took place decades before.
I have been a fan of Nicholas Sparks' books for many years, and this one was very good as well. There are elements of the story that reminded me a lot of The Longest Ride. I think it was a great style to tell this story, using moments in the current time, scattered with flashbacks to key events from the past. The combination of stories provided the relevance to what was happening present-day.
I was originally more interested in the story with Tanner and Kaitlyn, but it was quickly overshadowed by Jasper's story, and I was waiting to hear what happened next and how it all fit together. This wasn't one that I was so tied into the story that I ended the book in tears, but I did feel that it all concluded in a positive way for all.
Thank you to NetGalley and Random House Publishing Group for sending me this book for review consideration. All opinions are my own.
Thank you NetGalley and Random House Publishing group for the ARC.
I was very excited for this new Nicholas Spark’s book. I loved the development of the characters. I felt very invested in their stories. It is a story of love, loss, and endurance through trials. As a Christian, I loved seeing all the Bible verses and references to religion.
This book contained a lot of description. As a result, there were parts that were far too slow moving for me. I also wish that there was more depth to Tanner and Kaitlyn’s relationship.
3.5 ⭐️
First off I just wanna say Thank You to Nicholas and his team for the book! And to him and NetGalley for allowing me to have my first actual requested book arc!!
I did kind of struggle in the beginning. Especially when Jasper first appeared. I couldn’t exactly see why he fit into the story. But y’all….. about the second time he appeared my thinking noodle began to start thinking. Didn’t have my attention captivated like how See Me did.
But I’m already telling people that I know that also enjoy his books they’re gonna need to read this when it comes out in September!!
I know I’ll be buying it in physical form for myself!! Definitely worth rereading again!!!
I love every Nicholas Sparks book I have read, and this book adds to that list. I love how well rounded and relatable his characters are. This book brought up some great emotions. I enjoyed the multiple povs throughout the book as well as how they all came together beautifully. One fade to black sexy scene good for clean readers. If you're a romance reader looking for a beautifully uplifting storyvadd this one to the top of your list.
Tanner Hughes is on a search for not only his father but himself. His grandmother who raised him has just past away. He has backed up the house, ready to sell and move on to his next adventure. He has a few months before his next mission is to happen so he sets out to search for his father who his grandparents always told him they did not know. Hours before she died his grandmother gives him his father’s name.
Tanner sets out for Asheboro, North Carolina, to search for him. He has stopped for dinner, comes to a young girl’s rescue that turns around and backs into his car. This leads to meeting her mother and the sparks begin to fly. While Tanner is searching and working on his love life, Jasper is searching and attempting to protect a white deer that has been spotted in the woods near his home. Jasper is an 83 year old modern day Job. His story is heartbreaking.
Nicholas Sparks has a way of pulling on the reader’s heartstrings. The connection with the characters is for the most time automatic. My only problem was the two completely different stories of Tanner and Jasper. Their paths never seem to have any chance of crossing. By the time they did I was almost frustrated from reading two books at the same time. While Tanner’s life showed a little light at the end of the tunnel, Jasper’s showed only darkness and despair and it was a rollercoaster going between the hopefully story to the one of doom.
Thank you NetGalley, Nicholas Sparks, and Random House Publishing for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.
Nicholas Sparks has done it again!
I really enjoyed this book and trying to figure out how the characters would all come together. Enjoyed the relationship between Jasper and the boy. It was just a good book that I wasn't ready to have end.
Thank you NetGalley for the ARC.
I have read several Nicholas Sparks and they never seem to disappoint, Counting Miracles is no exception to that either. This book had me captured from beginning to end. I fell in love with the characters and felt a connection to them. Tanner's career as an Army Ranger hit home with me too since my husband is also one.
Tanner has been taking care of his dying grandmother that raised him. On her death bed she tells Tanner who his real father is and that he is from Asheboro, NC. Tanner is due to his next duty assignment soon but he decides to see what he can find out about his father before he reports there. Tanner is run into by a young lady on the very first day that he is in Asheboro. His car is his baby so he is not happy about it at all.
When Casey, the young lady that ran into Tanner, takes him back to talk to her mom, there are sparks that begin to fly immediately. Katelyn is a single mom of two that is a doctor. When she and Tanner begin to talk, they both feel that something is drawing them together. The whole family hits it off with Tanner. Tanner is even introduced to Jasper, an elderly man that has had a rough life. Jasper is teaching Mitch, Kaitlyn's ten year old son, how to widdle. Mitch spends his Sunday's with Jasper.
Kaitlyn soon finds out that Tanner will be leaving soon and she calls off everything with him. Tanner is pretty fond of them all now so this is not easy for him. When Jasper goes missing though, Kaitlyn calls him and Tanner ends up going to help look for Jasper. You will have to rad and find out how everything ends up for them all though. You won't regret it at all, This is a very good read.
I voluntarily read and reviewed this book and all opinions are my own. Thanks to NetGalley, the publisher and the author for an advanced copy of this book.
Was a little hard for me to push through, I wasn’t very attached to any characters. I was able to predict the ending, which isn’t my favorite, but I still love Nicholas Sparks and the book took me on an emotional journey!
Wonderful book I think maybe more of us need to find ourselves and mentor an older person ! I find this book being good for me. I'd like to be like Jasper, to enjoy his Faith
A story that feels so real. This book kept me interested and I wanted to find out the ending quickly so I read the book way too fast. It was over before I knew it. Don't you love a book like that? With the name Tanner of the hero of course he's a good guy. Very interesting love story along with your family involvement of children and pets also. Don't miss out on this book!!
Another great book by Nicholas Sparks!! I couldn’t put it down. I enjoyed the characters development and a beautiful story line.
It’ll sell because it’s Nicholas sparks. But man. I’m over it, because it’s Nicholas Sparks. I still read it and read it fast but I’m bored with them.
A truly beautiful story. It’s one of those novels where halfway through you’re like where is this even going? You find yourself wondering when the MMC is going to go back to his original quest & then the ending comes. Sparks has a way of creating stories of fate and you not knowing how crucial details are until the end of the book. It was a really good read. 3.5 stars for me.
