This was everything that I would expect from a Nicholas Sparks book. Beautiful writing and poignant. His books just hit you and manage to stay with you.

Counting miracles had an effect on me like The Wish did. This is a book that I could reread and I rarely will ever reread a book a second time. I fell in love with Tanner and Jasper.

If you're thinking about reading this one, do yourself the favor and just read it.

Counting Miracles is a heart-warming story revolving around Tanner, Kaitlyn, Kaitlyn's children, and a man on the out-skirts of society named Jasper. Tanner is a veteran who never knew his mother (who died in child-birth) and was never told the name of his father. His grandmother reveals the name of his father while on her deathbed; he decides to go to Asheboro, NC to search for his father. While there, his search leads him to cross paths with Kaitlyn and her children. After Tanner and Kaitlyn meet, it is clear that they are crazy about each other but Tanner is due to leave in a few weeks due to a work commitment on another continent. Kaitlyn is worried that she's setting herself up for heartache if she ends up falling for Tanner.

This book was an enjoyable read. The characters were interesting and I appreciated seeing the individual growth throughout the book.

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for this book in exchange for my review.

I hadn’t read a NS book in a long time but I’m so glad I picked up one of his recent books. He’s an amazing story teller taking me out of my reality which is needed sometimes. He puts me in a good, safe place with his stories.

One of my favorite authors and I think this is probably my favorite one in a while. It took me a second to get used to the changing of character stories. I was starting to pick up on the possible connection between some of the characters. I felt like I was right there with them and could picture what was happening clearly. I really loved reading about Jasper and how his life played out. I was glad to see my prediction on the characters turned out to be true.

Counting Miracles by Nicholas Sparks ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

😭😭😭 an amazing and heartfelt novel. But then again Nicholas has a way with writing and his character as well as the plots. Hope this will be a movie someday.

Tanner lost his mother as she gave birth to him, never known his father, his was raised by his grandparents till they passed away luckily he was an adult. But if now his an adult he feels alone in the world, no place to call home.

By accident, literally, Casey a teenager backs into Tanner truck. Tanner drivers her home because she's in no position to drive. He meets her brother Mitch and her mother Kaitlyn..... A friendship grows...... You will have to read for yourself to see how it ends.

A modern retelling of the story of Job. Nicholas Sparks does it again as he delves into present-day miracles with his newest work, “Counting Miracles.”

While I was not immediately engrossed in this book as I have been with other books from Sparks in the past, I became absorbed as the characters developed & I began to learn more about them.

Highly recommend if you are a person of faith. I realize I missed so many details while I was reading as I got to the final pages. I would like to reread it now knowing the full story & with my Bible as a companion.

Counting Miracles introduces lucky readers to several unforgettable people - especially Jasper and his precious dog, Arlo. Tanner recently lost his grandmother who had given him the name of his father whom he has never known anything about. Tanner has spent years in the service which has provided him with a “home” of sorts. There he meets Kaitlyn after her daughter accidentally damaged his special car. Sparks definitely fly when these two are together. Kaitlin’s two children, Mitch and Casey, add dimension to the story, as does the setting of scenic Asheboro, North Carolina.
At times it seemed there was almost too much background information on Jasper but by the end I realized that it was pivotal to the story. I have to admit that I did grow a bit tired of the numerous biblical quotes as I thought a few would have worked just as well for the later miracles to make sense.
I so enjoyed feeling as if I was standing in the kitchen watching the story unfold, almost like a play. Well done Nicholas Sparks!
Many many thanks to Nicholas Sparks, Random House and NetGalley for affording me the pleasure of reading an arc of this touching novel, published on September 24th. One of his best character developments!

Every book Mr. Sparks writes becomes my latest best book. His story is always about love, family, loss, God, and love again. He always makes me cry, and fills my heart with joy. Waiting for his next book is difficult but then it all becomes worth the wait because his books are just that good. Thank you for another reason to go on.

I just love how Nicholas tells a story. This book grabbed me from the beginning and wouldn't let me go. I loved how the story was told in multiple points of view from Kaitlyn, Tanner and jaspers. Just a wonderful tale of lost and found family.
Thanks to the publisher for my net galley copy for my honest review.

I was able to read an early copy of this book. I haven’t read anything from this author in a long time and was pleasantly surprised. We didn’t go super deep with characters but the storyline between three people tied together beautifully. It was a quick read that I will recommend to others.

Following two different but connecting storylines, Counting Miracles is about finding home. For Tanner, a former Army Ranger, that means being told secrets of his past and then going on a search for the unknown when his life had been filled with not being able to settle down. His search leads him to Asheboro NC where he ends up meeting a divorced mom and doctor, Kaitlyn, who isn’t like anyone he’s met before and he’s intrigued to learn more about her.

Then there is the storyline of Jasper, a 80-something year old man who many are scared of because of the burn scars on his face. He lives a solitary life along with his faithful dog Arlo. He loves the forest around him and when he hears of a possible albino deer being hunted, he feels that he has to protect it.

This one surprised me and I wasn’t sure how I would like it when I started out. However, as the story continued, I loved the way the characters grew on me. I also loved how the storyline of Jasper referenced the Bible so much and how the story of Job was evident throughout the telling of his life.

Thanks NetGalley and Random House Publishing for the ARC ebook. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

While I was engaged throughout the entire book, it was the connections in the last few chapters that were really satisfying. I enjoyed the writing and the interweaving of the stories and characters. By the end of the book, I didn't want it to end. I wanted to know more and what happens next with the characters. It's not that there was a cliffhanger, but it was compelling to continue learning more about the future of the characters. Overall, I enjoyed this book.

You never can go wrong with Nicholas Sparks. Having read all of his books, I’m amazed how he continues to write even more great books! Counting Miracles was a beautiful read about family connections, figuring out where one belongs, and romance. Nicholas Sparks has the ability to make you care about the characters and feel the bond. While the story focused on Tanner and Kaitlyn, I adored Jasper and Arlo! Such a good read that I binge-read in two days. Thank you to NetGalley and Random House for the ARC. All opinions are my own.

This wasn't my favorite Nicholas Sparks book (that goes to a A Bend in the Road) but I really did enjoy it. Sparks is a genius with intertwining storylines together and that statement holds true with Counting Miracles. I flew through this book and couldn't wait to see to how it connected and who died. Because let's be real, someone typically dies in a Sparks novel.

I loved how Tanner was Kaitlyn and her kids. The romance with the two were great but him with her kids were great. The side story with Jasper, the town recluse I loved the best though. Jasper went through a lot in his life and it shows. But he's a great person who just looks different and people should take the time to get to know him.

Counting Miracles is all about following your heart and trust dogs, because let's be real dogs are everything.

4.5 Stars!!!

I have been a Nicholas Sparks fan since I was a teen. I have loved every single book. This one wasn't any different. The way I squealed when I was approved for this. It is a bizarre feeling growing up loving an author's writing, and then having the opportunity older as an ARC reader. Thank you so much Random House Publishing and NetGalley for giving me this ARC!

Counting Miracles is an emotional story from the point of view of three characters that endure heartbreak, hope, and build faith. I came to love each of them. Throughout their journey I felt heartbroken or elated for them. If I could reach in and hug them all, I most certainly would. The character development is phenomenal. Jasper has a special place in my heart.

A new official favorite from Nicholas Sparks. Prepare to laugh and sob throughout it.

This one will leave you feeling grateful for all of the little things we take for granted at times.

Counting Miracles

Nicholas Sparks never lets you down. He always delivers a book that you will enjoy. This is no exception.
I loved the story and the characters became real to me.

Jasper tugged at my heart. He had suffered so much in his life. But he never lost faith. The kindness he received from his Doctor and her son was a blessing. More than a blessing because it brought him Tanner.

Great book.

Counting Miracles by Nicholas Sparks

From the acclaimed author of The Longest Ride and The Notebook comes an emotional, powerful novel about wondering if we can change—or even make our peace with—the path we’ve taken.

“Sparks is superb at what he does. The setting is postcard perfect. The characters are immensely likable. . . . This is a tidy miracle you can count on.”—The Washington Post

Tanner Hughes was raised by his grandparents, following in his grandfather’s military footsteps to become an Army Ranger. His whole life has been spent abroad, and he is the proverbial rolling stone: happiest when off on his next adventure, zero desire to settle down. But when his grandmother passes away, her last words to him are find where you belong. She also drops a bombshell, telling him the name of the father he never knew—and where to find him.

Tanner is due at his next posting soon, but his curiosity is piqued, and he sets out for Asheboro, North Carolina, to ask around. He’s been in town less than twenty-four hours when he meets Kaitlyn Cooper, a doctor and single mom. They both feel an immediate connection; Tanner knows Kaitlyn has a story to tell, and he wants to hear it. To Kaitlyn, Tanner is mysterious, exciting—and possibly leaving in just a few weeks.

Meanwhile, nearby, eighty-three-year-old Jasper lives alone in a cabin bordering a national forest. With only his old dog, Arlo, for company, he lives quietly, haunted by a tragic accident that took place decades before. When he hears rumors that a white deer has been spotted in the forest—a creature of legend that inspired his father and grandfather—he becomes obsessed with protecting the deer from poachers.

As these characters’ fates orbit closer together, none of them is expecting a miracle . . . but that may be exactly what is about to alter their futures forever.
I recommend this book.
Counting Miracles by Nicholas Sparks is a 4 star book.
I am looking forward to reading more books by Nicholas Sparks.
