This is the third book in April Asher’s Supernatural Singles series of paranormal romantic comedy. Each book focuses on a different couple out of this group of friends, so each can be enjoyed on its own, although if you read them out of order, there will be minor spoilers.
I liked the relationship between the Maxwell sisters and their friend Harper. I also loved Olive’s pursuit of her Dare I docket list, which led to some of the best scenes in the book. Olive’s love interest Bax made some swoony romantic gestures, but I disliked his jealousy and lack of communication during the middle of the story. In the end, both main characters had a satisfying growth arc and I was happy to see them supporting each other. If you’re looking for a light read with some laughs and some steam, this is worth a try.
The audiobook production was well done. I enjoyed Zura Johnson’s narration, which was well paced and easy to understand. She does a nice job with both male and female voices and conveys mood and emotion effectively. The story works well as an audiobook.
I received a free advanced listening copy of the audiobook through NetGalley. I volunteered to provide an honest review.

I loved the narrator of this book, especially when speaking as Bax. The narrator was able to emulate each character's personality and felt believable.
Olive is a witch from a powerful family and the youngest of triplets. Bax is a guardian angel and the son of a warrior angel who has unrealistic expectations for him to live up to. This book gives me “Charmed” vibes.
I loved the wittiness of Olive and the broodiness of guardian angel Bax. As the two of them become roommates, Olive’s desire to step outside of her comfort zone causes Bax’s angel radar to go off. Their attraction is no secret to one another, which drove me bonkers because of all that desire to fester between them. Trust me, the spicy scenes were worth the suspense.
I couldn’t stop reading as I needed to know if they would finally give in to one another. I found Bax to be hilarious when reacting to Olive’s spontaneity, which causes his angel radar to skyrocket. It’s funny because he’s a literal guardian angel. A Guardian angel’s job is to protect and avoid potential risk. Olive challenges all of his being.
Each side character is significant to Olive and Bax’s story. Harper is the funniest and I can’t wait to find out if she gets her own book. It would be epic!
Love Always, Catherine

Not Your Crush's Cauldron (Supernatural Singles #3)
By: April Asher, I read book #2 in series and gave it 4⭐
Publication date 2-13-24 , read 2-11-24
📃 Page count: 331 kindle
🏃🏾♀️ Audiobook run time: 11:38
🗣️ Narrator: Zura Johnson-read all characters and every audiobook in this series. Harper's voice stood out to me as clow and seductive. I followed the pacing well, and the author and narrator were in sync and fit together perfectly.
Quick Summary: Olive has moved in with her longtime crush Baxter "Bax" because she can't get any sleep living with Grandma Edie. He gives her the master bedroom and free range of the place because he secretly has a crush on her too. Oilve assigns herself and her students a term project to write down and do things outside their comfort zones called the "Dare I Docket." Bax is unexpectedly assigned as her guardian angel while she completes the items on her list, some potentially dangerous. His boss has had it with his screw ups so he must follow all the rules- mainly don't fall in love with your charge. Olive can't know he's her guardian angel, so he agrees to do the scary stuff with her.
🤷🏾♀️ What to Expect:
⭐ ️friends to lovers
⭐️ roommates
⭐️ paranormal romance/fantasy
⭐️ witches/angels/shifters
⭐️ rom-com/contemporary romance
⭐ forced proximity
⭐tattooed and pierced biker/artist H
⭐college professor/lawyer h
🤔 My Thoughts: They helped each other face their fears and change for the better. Bax was an undiscovered artist, and agreed to design Olive's tattoo-an item off the docket. They spend a lot of time together, fall in love, and discover their true purpose-being together.
My recommendation is to read the audiobook and eBook (if you can) because you can adjust the speed, skip parts easily (if desired), and picture the characters more vividly.

Thanks to NetGalley, St. Martin's Griffin, and Dreamscape Media for this ARC and ALC 💚! I voluntarily give an honest review and all opinions expressed are my own.

This was so fun and so spicy!!! I loved the supernatural aspect of it. I also really loved the banter between the leads, it was nice to get a dual POV.
I hadn’t read the first two books in the series about the other sisters but it didn’t seem like you needed to. I also really loved Harper, I hope she gets a book!
Overall just a really quick and easy read!

I received an audiobook copy of this book for my honest review.
Our FMC is a triplet witch, who has just moved in with out MMC, who happens to be a guardian angel. They both have secret crushes on each other - but could never act on it. As a teach of supernatural studies, our FMC is proposing a new program for the school, where it helps her students out of their comfort zone, but realizes that she needs to do this too. Our MMC finds that this new to do list for her, has put her at risk to the point she has been assigned a guardian angel - him, and he can't let her know. They help each other break out of their comfort areas with new experiences, as well as experiencing a deeper relationship. But is this just his job? Will she be able to actually push herself?

I enjoyed listening to this story. This is a super cute witchy book with a tattooed guardian angel. The FMC moved in with the MMC. This is a friends to lovers, forced proximity story. I didn’t read the first two books but I was able to follow this story. Thank you NetGalley for sending it to me.

This was such a hexing good time! I was able to dual read this ebook/audiobook, and it was so fun! I didn't want to put it down.
Olive and Bax had such a sweet friendship going into this story, and I loved all of their dynamics! I will say, some of the characters and their different supernatural talents were a bit confusing, as I haven't read the first two books in this series, and there wasn't a ton of world-building or explanation, so if you want to read this one, my personal recommendation is to read the first and second books in this series first!
There was lots to love about this book, though! Let's take a look:
- Olive's commitment to her Dare I Docket List
- Bax's commitment to help Olive with her list, both because he has to and he wants to
- Bax giving up his master bedroom so that Olive can have the room with the balcony (swoony moments from him FROM THE VERY BEGINNING, PEOPLE)
- The NICKNAME ANGEL FROM THE LIPS OF A LITERAL ANGEL (gosh, I loved Bax a whole lot)
- That both characters were scared of things along the way!
- The triplets together with their bff (who might've been... a demon? idk! still confused tbh haha)
- Olive's relationship with her grandma
- The politic drama 1. in witch society 2. in angel society 3. in higher ed (RELATABLE to this former higher ed employee)
- SURPRISINGLY SPICYYYY AND HERE FOR THE PARANORMAL INTERSPECIES ROMANCE
- Angel rides ;) both of the angel-variety and the motorcycle variety
- the fact that Olive made Bax braver and Bax made Olive braver / they were interested in making each other the best versions of themselves, even when that required them to push each other a bit
- the friends to lovers trope allowed for them to KNOW EACH OTHER SO DEEPLY that they could recognize what the other needed, wanted, when something was wrong, when something was right, when new behaviors were new and should be celebrated or when behaviors were concerning; it allowed this deep foundation of trust to already exist, and that made the interactions between them that much more special, because they knew it mattered!
- Olive becoming so protective of Bax <3 He's been protecting other people for so long, it was refreshing for someone to care enough about him to be that person.
The audiobook was so easy to get lost in and the narrator did a fantastic job! I always want dual narration between characters, but I didn't feel like anything was missing in this performance!
Thank you to Dreamscape Media for access to the audio and St. Martin's Press/St. Martin's Griffin for access to the ARC of this one via NetGalley. All thoughts are my own!

Cliche and really cheesy, not my vibe for story, main character is annoying. Plot was predictable. Sorry I didn’t enjoy this more

I love all the supernatural elements in the book, this is a supernatural world I would love to live in.
If you’ve read the previous two books I highly this one. It’s cute, witchy, and a good plot.
They can be read as standalone but they’re so much better understood when read in order you get so much of the previous banter and the characters personality.
This is the third Maxwell sister & I think my favorite! Olive & Bax 💚
Bax is a guardian Angel & Olive assigned her students an assignment that she’s decided to also do.
If you’re looking for something paranormal, witchy, fun & swoony this is your comfy cute read!

*Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for the audiobook ARC in exchange for an honest review.*
3.5 stars.
A fun addition to the Supernatural Singles series. I enjoyed the romance between Olive and Bax, though a lot of it feels based on an existing relationship/friendship and base physical attraction. While not a particularly deep or well-developed relationship, they had fun banter, and there were a couple of very steamy sex scenes (including Bax's many and variously placed piercings).
Unfortunately, there was not all that much magic or angel stuff considering it's a romance between a powerful witch and an angel. Also, if you're not a fan of current pop culture being referenced in books (or particularly urban fantasy books) this book may not be for you, as it happens numerous times with emphasis being put on TikTok and T Swift in particular.
It was generally well written, though there were some phrases used in the writing that made me laugh at their absurdity. I think the only thing that I really didn't like was the use of the word 'snortkle' (at least I think that's what it was, I listened to the audiobook so I'm not 100% sure). But I believe it was a smash up of snort and chuckle. This was not for me.
The audiobook itself was very good, with the narrator being very easy to listen to. She changed her voice enough for each character, so I was never confused as to who was talking, and also her voice change for the male characters was generally really good. There were only two characters that I wasn't overly fond of her voicing, which was Harper (I just didn't think her approach matched with the character vibe) and Patrick (?), the secretary to the head of the Guardian Angels. But those are very minor gripes.
Overall, if you've enjoyed the past books in the series, you won't be disappointed.

Thank you NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for this audio ARC.
I enjoyed Zura Johnson’s performance immensely. Her Olive voice is adorable.
I had so much fun listening to this story. So much that I went out and purchased the first two physical books in the series and cannot wait to get the physical copy of this one on Tuesday!

By far, my favourite of the Supernatural Singles series! I wasn’t sure after the first book, the second was far more exciting and this one was really romantic and very interesting! I love the triplet witch idea - the one that is taking over from their grandmother (who does a runner in this book), the one that thought she was and had trained for it and the introverted one - and how the girls are coming into their own magic and adulthoods through the series, and finding their supernatural partners.
Violet and Rose have already found themselves, and swapped roles and settled down now, so it’s just Olive left in her shy, comfortable zone. She assigns her students a task to make a list to do things out of their comfort zones and decides that if they have to do it, she probably should, too. Having just moved in with a new roommate, her long-time crush and guardian angel Bax (Baxter), he decides (after being assigned to guard her, for no reason given by the council), to do the scary tasks along with her - things like circus school, hot schmex, dating, and getting a tattoo… as they grow closer, they have a fantastic time working on the list, untitled all comes crashing down (because of course, in the supernatural world, rules, and outside forces, etc., make everything super difficult).
Fantastic read, the best of the series, and I’m hoping we get a book for our favorite succubus, Harper! Definitely recommend it for everyone who enjoys supernatural romance, witchy reads especially, but it’s not a standalone so it’s best if read in series order.
Narrated by Zura Johnson, she does another excellent job! She really enhances the reading experience and I always enjoy every book I’ve listened to that she’s a part of. Definitely recommend getting the audio version of this one!
I received an advance read and listen copy from NetGalley, St. Martin's Press (St. Martin's Griffin), and Dreamscape Media, and this is my honest feedback.

Not Your Crush’s Caldron is a supernatural RomCom set in a modern city. It is the 3rd installment of the Supernatural Singles series. I have not read books 1 & 2 yet. I was able to jump right into this gem of a story without issue. I’m sure I missed some inside jokes and Easter eggs. I adored getting to know Olive and her group of sisters (Olive is a triplet) and found family. They all felt so relatable through the story. Bax is 🔥 and all kinds of yeses from me. I really enjoyed their love story. I cannot wait to rewind for books 1&2!
The audiobook was a fun listen! I thought Johnson did a great job throughout. I’m excited to listen to more of her work.

Voluntary ARC Review⭐️
I received this audiobook as a voluntary ARC review! I was super excited about it because I read the first two in the series and I couldn’t want to get my hands on this one!
The book did not disappoint. Olive and Bax’s relationship was one I was coming in book 2 and I couldn’t wait to find out more. I love that Olive was able to grow and step out of her comfort zone with Bax by her side.
The spice scenes were fantastic. Just the right amount of spice but not anything weird or uncomfortable.
I definitely recommend you pick up this book when it releases on 2/13! It’s well worth it!!

This series is just delightful! I’ve been absolutely loving witchy romances!
I’m so glad a friend recommended it to me. I’ve enjoyed all three books, but I just loved Bax and Olive. I listened to the audiobook and love Zara Johnson’s narration!
Bax has had a crush on her for awhile so he obviously offers to be her roommate and once he’s her guardian to work through her list with her. I loved how they both pushed outside of their comfort zones. Her list was so fun and seeing about her learn about herself in the process.
This was steamy and swoon worthy. I loved seeing Rose and Violet and their partners (and of course their grandmother!)
I really hope that their friend/adopted sister Harper will have a book too!

Zura Johnson always delivers excellent narrations, and her performance of Not Your Crush's Cauldron by April Asher, the third book in the Supernatural Singles series, is another banger.
Olive Maxwell, the third of the magical Maxwell triplets, is a professor and loves to push her students out of their comfort zones--and she decides it's time to take her own advice. She creates a list of things to challenge herself--and fortunately she has her (literal) guardian angel, Bax, to help her out. (Of course she doesn't know he's her guardian. That's top secret.)
Bax has a thing for Olive, and that's a problem--because he's one screw-up away from losing his wings. And falling for your Assignment isn't just frowned upon. It's not allowed.
Their roommate/situation-ship evolves as they check thing after thing off Olive's list, and Bax has to decide what's worth more to him--keeping his job or the woman he's fallen in love with. Turns out that decision is easier than he thought it would be.
If you like fun, witchy, paranormal romances, the Supernatural Singles series is a great choice. Each of the sisters is so different and their stories are each unique and delightful. Thank you Netgalley and Dreamscape Media for my advance listening copy.
Four bright shiny stars!

Not Your Crush’s Cauldron was definitely my favorite of the series! Thats not saying much though because I really liked all three of the books. I love Olive and Bax as characters and as a couple. Bax’s piercings were also a plus. The spice was excellent. I enjoyed the audiobook, the narrator did a great job.

I really enjoyed this one! It was funny, entertaining, and kept me fully interested the entire time. I loved that Bax was tasked to be her guardian angel, it made for an interesting "forbidden love" dynamic. I also loved that the angel was a bad boy, complete with a motorcycle, tattoos, and *ahem* piercings.
Which brings me to....

Also, audiobook narration was excellent!
