Olive finds herself in a fun situation when she becomes roommates with her crush, Bax, a guardian angel. When she assigns a new project to her students that requires them to step out of her comfort zone, she decides to do the assignment too. Little does she know, Bax has been assigned to be her guardian angel and agrees to help her cross things off her list. Bax, who also secretly has a thing for Olive, can’t seem to keep things friendly and puts their relationship and his job at stake.

Did I like it? Yes, for the most part. Did I also find parts boring and a drawn out? Also yes. I jumped into this book without reading the previous two and while I think it might’ve helped me understand more in the beginning, it wasn’t necessary for the overall plot. Definitely needed something to cleanse my palate but I’m not entirely sure this was it.

The narrator for this book wasn’t bad, but I didn’t feel immersed in the story. I just felt like I was being read to.

I’ll probably catch the other two in the series on audio if/when my library gets them.

Cute. I didn’t realize this was part of a series so I was a little lost. But that’s on me. I did enjoy it and will be going back to read the others. A very light and funny read. A witchy romance must!

I’ve loved this series from the beginning, and I can’t tell you how thrilled I am that Bax and Olive’s story is finally here! This book had everything I adored about the first two: incredibly witty banter, magical badassery, and spicy spice! PLUS this book had ALL THE PINING. I loved that in this book we were shown more sides to Bax than the previous two books, and let me tell you, I LOVE HIM! Baxter Bartholomew Donovan is a national treasure and must be protected at all costs 😍😍😍.

Zura Johnson is one of my favorite audiobook narrators, and I loved the LIFE she brings into this story while GIVING life to this story.

Honestly, I really just loved this story, it’s smart and fun and super sexy and I REALLY hope it wasn’t the end of the series (hint hint).

I was given an ALC by NetGalley and Dreamscape Media. All opinions are my own.

Delightfully funny, witchy rom com with a bit of spice to heat up the story! What's a witch to do when she is falling for the seriously hot angel roommate in the room across the hall? Why fall on him of course! This series is always a good read as you'll laugh with witty banter, funny hijinks and swoon through spicy bedroom aerobics. There are witches, angels, shifters, vampires, succubus, demons and a few other paranormal creatures make an appearance in these books and I'm telling you that you should be lining up to read the entire series. The plots are well crafted with twists and turns that make these rom coms even more delightfully entertaining! This author has quickly risen to be one of my favorites and I think she'll become one of yours as well. I do recommend that you read the series in order so you get to know the characters more fully which will help you become more absorbed in the stories! If you are like me and love a good audiobook, then this series should be on your must listen list as the narrator does an outstanding job of bringing the characters to life and making the stories even more fun!

I love this series so much and Olive and Bax's story was another amazing addition. These two were so cute as friends to lovers and I adored the forced proximity trope in this one.

Their found family is the best. Yes, the triplets are blood and they have Gran, but their friends are there 100% for them and I love it. Bax's donor is a giant jerk off, so it was wonderful for him to really find his place with Olive and her family.

The audio was really good too. Zura Johnson did a fabulous job and I love listening to her narrate stories.

April Asher is my go to for witchy rom-coms. There were a lot of similarities in this book and the first two in the series which I found comforting because i really enjoyed the first two about the other two sisters. Banter, magic, romance and some spice! It had everything that makes me want to recommend it to everyone I know. Bad boy with a soft side is what makes for a swoony book boyfriend and that’s exactly what you get when it comes to Bax and how he treated Olive. Since this is a book releasing in February it would be a great read to curl up with a blanket with a cup of hot chocolate for some light hearted reading.

Not Your Crush’s Cauldron by April Asher
Narrator: Zura Johnson
Rating: 4.5 stars
Steam: 2 chilis
Pub date: 2/13

April Asher enchants readers once again with her blend of magic, romance, and humor. This story follows Olive, the third Maxwell sister, who finds herself stepping out of her comfort zone when she moves in with her long-time crush, the tattooed and motorcycle-riding angel Baxter Donovan.
Full of witty banter, a smoldering slow burn, and hilarious side characters, this book is just a delight. The dynamic between Olive and Bax is perfection, offering readers a swoon-worthy bad boy with a soft heart. Bax's role as Olive's Guardian Angel adds an extra twist to their relationship as he walks the fine line between protecting Olive and breaking the rules by falling in love with her.
I love this series because while it’s a light and fluffy paranormal romance, the depth of its characters and their relationships play a significant role in the story. Every interaction feels authentic and relatable, from the playful banter between the Asher sisters to the heartfelt moments between Olive and Bax. It’s hard not to root for these characters as they navigate the ups and downs of love and magic.
The audiobook version of this one is entertaining, and I loved the narrator, Zura Johnson! She brought all of the characters to life and helped to enhance my reading experience.
Whether you're a fan of supernatural rom-coms or simply looking for a charming story to brighten your day, April Asher's latest installment in the Supernatural Singles series is just what you’re looking for.

Not Your Crush's Cauldron by April Asher is the 3rd in the Supernatural Singles series and follows the story of the final Maxwell triplet. The series is set in a world of witches, shifters, vampires, angels, and demons (with no major violence).

I enjoyed Olive's friends/roommates to lovers slow burn to spicy story! I do recommend reading the books in order as the stories build on one another and you see the same characters throughout. But if you want to start here, there are explanations of what has happened before.

I listened to the audiobook, and the narrator did a nice job with the story. Overall a fun and engaging listen!

Thank you to Dreamscape Media and Netgalley for the Advance Listen Copy!

I received an advanced copy of this audiobook. This is my own opinion.

The narrator does a good job. The story isn't my favorite, but it's not badly written or anything, just not giving me strong feelings. Normally I would have a more in depth review, but I don't have strong feelings one way or the other, so this is dead center for me.

I put this at about a 3.5 rating.

Thanks to Netgalley and Dreamscape media for the arc.

This was a sweet, and pretty straight forward witchy romance. If you're looking for something that feels like Enchanted to Meet You or The Ex Hex, this is probably a great read for you. In a lot of ways, it reminded me of the original tv series, Charmed.

However, it's a pretty "on the rails" plot. You're going to see just about everything coming. The last 20% of the book felt a little drawn out for me because I felt confident that I would know where the story ended.

I did like this as an audiobook, and think it was better in this format. The narration is well done, even in the spicier scenes where things have a potential to get awkward. Thank you to #NetGalley and #DreamscapeMedia for the advanced reader copy of Not Your Crush's Cauldron.

Not Your Crush's Cauldron was 100% what I needed when I needed it. It was the perfect--what? cozy romantasy? is that a thing? If not, it is now.

I loved the other books in the series, and this was a perfect ending for the sisters--and now, I really hope their best friend finds love.

This witchy romcom series is so fun!

This is a book 3!

In this one we follow the last of the triplet sisters-Olive. She just moved in with the guardian angel Bax after her last roommate situation ended horribly. Olive is the youngest department head at her college and is working on a grant proposal, at the same time assigns her students a project to get themselves out of their comfort zones and she decides it’s a great time to join this challenge. When Olive makes her Dare I Docket, Bax is then assigned as her guardian angel. With three rules-don’t let them die, don’t let them know you are guarding them and don’t fall in love with them…

This was maybe my favorite in the series. I love a list of things a main character is going to do to challenge themselves. It’s a very fun trope along with forced proximity! It was lovely. The tension and mutual pining was great. The conflict was a little silly or just not as believable as it could have been. But overall enjoyable.

I hope we get an honorary sister book with Harper as the lead. 🤞

Thanks to NetGalley and St Martin’s Press for an eARC.

Thank you to NetGalley, the author, and St. Martin's Press / Dreamscape Media for the gifted e-book/audiobook ❤️ #gifted. My review is comprised of my honest thoughts.

Read if you like: Close proximity, forbidden love, witchy reads

I loved this, not quite as much as the previous two, but still. I have the audiobook and ebook. Both were great. Olive and Bax have so much chemistry right off the bat. Wow. I love April's writing. The characters don't have the deepest backstories, but I can never look away. They are funny, engaging, and I always root for them. I highly recommend this! I have loved this whole series.

April Asher is an auto-buy author for me and I love this series! I do wish this book had a little more magic like the first two, but it was still a very fun listen! The narration was great and easy to listen to at 2x.

My favorite part about this series is that we get a lot of the characters from the previous books. They aren’t background characters mentioned sporadically, they play a big role in the story. Violet, Rose, and Olive are relatable, realistic, and most importantly likable. Not an easy feat.

I definitely recommend reading or listening to this one but I would personally read the series in order. Thank you St. Martin's Griffin and NetGalley for providing me with a copy of this audiobook in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

A great third title in this series! The chemistry was sizzling hot and the slow burn was the best. This is the second book I've read lately where the FMC is completely oblivious to her charm and I find it charming. I loved the story and hope there will be others to join it!

I'm still very much finding this series charming, and this is a great third installment.

Olive is more of a thinker than a doer in some ways, and while she likes to leave the adventurous, supernatural business to her sisters, it's her turn to make a list and check it many, many times in this magical romance. I'd have enjoyed a bit more character development and some added personal strife. For a romance, especially, this relationship is fairly bump-free in most ways. That noted, it's tough not to root for these two, and their positions in their respective families and professional lives make it even more fulfilling when things do go well for them.

Though I fell into this series by accident with the first book, my continued reading (listening, in this case), is now very much intentional, and I look forward to all future additions to this fun world.

I wanted to like this one. I really tried, but between 3rd party pov, and unlikable fmc, and the narrator’s weird channeling of joie Lauren Adams and this was just not it for me.

A guardian angel who gives her the nickname Angel. Stop being so cute. I loved reading this book, it was cute, it was fun and lighthearted. Bax and Olive are supportive of each other, he gave her his room because it had a balcony and he thought she would love to read and put a little table there. Very entertaining forced proximity.
Audio narration was great, very engaging voice.

Here’s me coming into a series on book #3; it's not that unusual. But I love paranormal romances, really more romcoms because I need that fun, witty banter. So when I heard this was about a professor witch and her hot, pierced, and tattooed guardian angel, I had to see what this was all about.

Olive Maxwell is a professor of supernatural studies. Unlike her sisters, she is reserved but may be ready to take some chances.

Enter Baxter Donovan, one guardian angel who tends to break the rules; he’s a bit of a bad boy. But Olive knows him as her friend and long-time crush. Bax asks Olive to be his roommate, and then he receives the assignment to be her guardian angel. Things get complicated when they can’t seem to keep things in the friend zone.

It was fun watching Bax and Olive work together to complete some of the tasks on Olive’s “Dare I Docket List.” An assignment she gave her students, and she realizes she needs to do it for herself. As Olive finds her courage, Bax is about to get his wings clipped, but it could all be worth it.

Olive’s sisters were a riot, as was her naughty friend Harper. And I loved that Bax comes across as a bad boy but he's so sweet and thoughtful. I will warn you this is a steamy one. But this paranormal friends-to-lover romance offers great banter, sassy friends, magic, and guaranteed laughter - grab this one today!

Not Your Crush’s Cauldron was such a delight! This is my first time reading any of April Asher’s work, and I will definitely be going through her other titles soon!

I adored this romcom! Olive is so realistic and easy to root for. Bax is the hot broody love interest with the brains to back it up. Their relationship development was so fun to see! I also loved that both Olive and Bax had solid relationships with people outside of each other. Olive had her family, and Bax had his friends, which made their characterization more believable.

Speaking of characters, Olive’s grandmother was tied for my favorite LOL. Can she adopt me?

If you haven’t read any books in this universe yet but want to try this one, go for it! I went in without any context, and I followed along without any issue. However, I would highly recommend reading the other two first so you have a deeper understanding of Olive’s sisters.

Zura Johnson was the perfect person to narrate this title!

I am rating Not Your Crush’s Cauldron 4.5 out of 5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✨ 4 on NetGalley and Goodreads, 4.5 on StoryGraph

I am only docking a half star because Olive and Bax’s insta-lust at the start did not seem real to me, but overall not a huge factor for my enjoyment.

A huge thank you to April Asher, Dreamscape Media, and NetGalley for providing me with an audio ARC in exchange for my fair and unbiased review!
