I enjoyed the first two books in the series, and was excited when I saw the third sister will get her story. The main plot is Olive's attempt to get outside of her comfort zone, an assignment she gives to her students then realizes she needs for herself. She has also just moved in with her Angel friend Dax, who calls her Angel as a nickname, which is a little... weird?

There are a few side plots besides the romance, including a missing Prima, a grant that Olive is fighting for, Dax's terrible father, and so on. None of these were really explored in a ton of depth. The book is based around the attraction Dax and Olive feel for each other and the fact that Olive suddenly is bumped up to need a guardian angel and Dax is assigned to her (how this works i never made clear, but I was pretty sure the Prima was somehow behind this but it was never confirmed)/

The writing style is almost identical to the first two books, so the main male characters all seem like carbon copies of each other to me. . Asher uses a predictable outline in her books, which in the first book was okay, but in the second book was noticeable and the third book got a bit tired. The third act break up is usually unnecessary and based in miscommunication, and this was no different than the first two books. I knew what was coming and didn't care by this point.

Unfortunately, there just wasn't anything unique about this third installment in the series which was disappointing. It was a cute read, but not a great one for me. I really appreciate the ARC and enjoyed the audio.

This is such a cute (& steamy) series!!! Yes this is the third and you will miss some things by reading this first but it would still be worth it. (But do yourself a favor and go get the first two)

The author has an amazing way of writing believable supernatural characters. The storyline is a cute romance with a little witchy flair. Holy cannoli on the imagery too.

I was impressed with the narrator. She did a great job with so many different character voices.

This series utterly captivated me, and "Not You Crush's Cauldron" only solidifies my adoration for the tales of these remarkable sisters and their journeys into love. As the third sister in the series, Olive takes center stage, and her story weaves seamlessly into the enchanting narrative set by her siblings.

With her relentless dedication to her work, Olive finally finds a roommate who ends her office sleeping escapades. As a grant opportunity emerges, promising to elevate her department, Olive desperately needs quality rest. Enter Bax, a character whose feelings for Olive have lingered for quite some time. When Olive reaches out for help, Bax can't resist lending a hand, even if it means keeping his emotions in check.

The plot turns exciting as Olive begins to conquer her fears, enlisting her class. This decision lands her on the guardian angel list, introducing a conflict of interest for Bax. A love story infused with friendship, betrayal, and deep emotional connection follows.

Olive and Bax's dynamic is nothing short of compelling. Bax, grappling with daddy issues and harbouring a profound love for Olive, goes to great lengths to support her. His gestures are undeniably swoon-worthy, adding a layer of romance that leaves readers thoroughly enchanted.

The narrative unfolds seamlessly, delivering a perfect blend of emotional depth and engaging storytelling. Olive's character is relatable and endearing, and Bax's struggles and unwavering love for her create a compelling dynamic. The novel masterfully explores themes of friendship, betrayal, and the complexities of love.

What indeed heightened my enjoyment of this experience was the audiobook narration by Zura Johnson. Her performance adds emotion and authenticity to the characters, enhancing the reading experience. Johnson's narration skillfully captures the essence of Olive and Bax, making the audiobook an absolute delight for fans of the series.

In summary, "Not You Crush's Cauldron" is a love story that transcends the ordinary, delving into the intricacies of human connection. Olive and Bax's journey is filled with moments that tug at the heartstrings, leaving readers thoroughly satisfied. Much like the rest of the series, this installment is a testament to the author's storytelling prowess. I wholeheartedly adored every moment of it.

I went in blind with this one thinking it could be read as a stand-alone but I would suggest readers start with book 1! Since I did not, I focused more on writing style, character and plot development and overall the book was enjoyable. If you have read book 1 & 2 of the Supernatural Series you will enjoy book 3!

Another fun, sexy witchy romance by April! Olive has been my favorite of the Maxwell triplets since book one, so I was excited to finally get to read her story and it didn’t disappoint. Cheeky, light-hearted, and plenty of spice—this was a fun, low-emotional-stakes read. And I was really glad that the banter in this one felt much more natural and less forced than it was in book two!

I enjoyed the narrator’s audiobook performance, she did a good job capturing the feel of the story and characters.

Very cute, but I was a bit annoyed with how oblivious and purposely obtuse Olive was for a good majority of the book. She spent so much time questioning his interest when, from the very first page, this man told her repeatedly how hot he found her.

This is the third in the series by April Asher, and I have enjoyed every one so far. They aren't particularly deep stories, but I like that they don't fall into the typical romance troupe of "Oh no! We had a miscommunication! We can never be together! But I refuse to talk to you about it even though it will be solved instantly!"

Asher has a great command of her characters, and I like that past relationships still show up in this book! This title was not earth shattering, but I appreciated the story, and I didn't at all feel like it was a waste of my time!

Thank you to Dreamscape Media and NetGalley who provided me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All the thoughts and opinions are my own.

A bookish, curvy witch looking to branch out of her comfort zone gets assigned a grumpy guardian who also happens to be her roommate. I really enjoyed this third book in the Supernatural Singles series featuring the third triplet, Olive. Sexy and fun, this dual POV paranormal romance delivered on the heat and heart. Great on audio too narrated by Zura Johnson. While there are cameos from Olive's two sisters, this book can be read as a standalone. Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an early digital and audio copy in exchange for my honest review!

Quick Summary: A fun and flirty supernatural read

My Review: Not Your Crush's Cauldron by April Asher is book 3 in the Supernatural Singles series. It's a highly entertaining rom-com with a boost of celestial and magical oomph.

About the Book: An academician and a Guardian Angel Affairs agent move in together. Hidden feelings, naughty thoughts, stirring touches, and titillating encounters ensue. Nothing gets the blood pumping quite like a walk on the wild side...with a bit of action thrown in for good measure.

My Final Say: This was my first time reading a Supernatural Singles novel, but it definitely won't be my last. I was completely enchanted with Olive and Bax. The entire group was entertaining. Readers who like a bit of salty, spicy, sexy, and sweet action will get it in spades with this sci-fi/ fantasy novel.

Other: Although I am late to the party with a book 3 versus book 1 start, I was able to keep up with the story without any difficulty. In truth, the mention of the other characters just made me want to read the books that came before this one.

Not Your Crush’s Cauldron

Cute, quirky, and witchy!

Loved the chemistry between Bax and Olive. I loved how they had a really good friendship relationship before anything romantic happened.

I also loved how Olive participates in opening herself up to new and more adventurous things. I liked that aspect of finding more of oneself. Life you can know who you really deep down but trying new and different things can also create a more versatile you and giving you more joy in your life.

I loved the ending with Bax and how he found what his passion is and went for it and didn’t let the opinion of his father interferes anymore in what he wants to do and who who wants to do it with.

The finding your passion and doing it was a big theme in this story and I loved the found family one as well.

Loved this!
It was great to go back into this world. I enjoy all the supernatural creatures plus magic!
This time around we focus on the youngest sister Olive. I connected with her a lot since I too need to push myself out of my comfort zones every now and then. Olive’s personal journey was great to read about. She’s also a fun character. Bax was a nice romantic lead. His journey is interesting but perhaps a bit overshadowed by Olive’s. I did like them together and thought they had good chemistry. The slow burn was definitely worth the wait.
Overall a fun witchy time.

Olive Maxwell is a former lawyer turned Professor. She creates an end of term project for her students to break out of their comfort zones. When Olive realizes she needs to break out of her comfort zone also. She makes a list and moves in with her hunky friend Baxter Donovan a guardian angel.

Bax is given an assignment to guard Olive. One of the guardian angel rules is that they can't divulge that they are guarding them. Bax's father is a bigwig in the guardian angel community and expects Bax to perform.

I really enjoyed this book. Even the spicy 🥵 parts even though sometimes I was a tad uncomfortable listening to the audio book. 🫣 A very enjoyable paranormal romance. The narration was very good and kept me engaged for the whole book.

The scream I scrumpt when I got the widget for Not Your Crush’s Cauldron! I was not prepared for it, but I have been beyond giddy waiting to read this one.

Bax and Olive? Do I really need to say more? The tension between these two throughout the first two books was great. I have been salivating for them to have their story. I am SO happy the characters didn’t say no because I would have been devastated.

I love when a book goes on an adventure, especially when that adventure is pushing the characters out of their comfort zone. It was really beautiful to watch this project Olive created do just as much, if not more, for her than it did for her students. And with the little twist you get at the end from the results. Loved it!

Bax, Bax, Bax! My dude has spent too long being the puppet in someone’s master schemes. In this case, his father’s. My heavens how much I wanted to throw that man! He was not it. But I am so happy that the onion of a man finally found his true layer and told his dad how he’s going to live his life.

These two together were so much fun to read. Their dynamic from the beginning, despite the years they’d known each other, to radiating love was really beautiful to watch develop.

Zura Johnson just shoved her way right to the top of my narrator list! The way her voice provides equal parts sensuality, personality, and a soothing tone is just magic! I could not have imagined the characters any better than Zura conveyed! I was transported to this alternate universe and the combination of April Asher’s words and Zura’s voice has me wanting to never come back.
