"Hannah Tate: Beyond Repair" had me hooked initially, but unfortunately, it became a Did Not Finish (DNF) for around 50%. The storyline lost its grip, and I found it challenging to stay engaged. However, the saving grace was the fantastic narration by Kelli Tager. The narrator's performance was captivating and added a layer of enjoyment, even though the story didn't resonate with me. Sometimes, a great narrator can significantly impact the overall reading experience.

I really enjoyed this debut novel by Laura Piper Lee. She did a lovely job of capturing the difficulty of being a new, first-time mom with all the stress and insecurities that go along with it. Hannah, our "hot-mess" main character is struggling to get through each day and her unsupportive and critical boyfriend isn't helping her. She thinks he's planning to propose but it's just the opposite. When she finally realizes that their relationship has hit a dead-end, she packs up and moves to Blue Ridge, Georgia where her mother and step-father are to figure out her next move.

In Blue Ridge, Hannah is able to help with a remodeling project to get a rental up and going for her parents to help bring additional rental income in for them. Along the way, she meets their neighbor, River who lives in a high-level tree house on the property next to their's. He's not only handsome but extremely helpful and nice. Of course there is chemistry between him and Hannah because it's a romance so of course there is.

As I read this book, there were so many times where's Hannah's inner dialogue made me laugh out loud. There were also times that her feelings broke my heart. The things that had occurred in her past were painful for her and clearly had an impact on her ability to trust in relationships.

AUDIOBOOK REVIEW: The audiobook was enjoyable with narration that truly felt like it properly depicted the characters. 4 stars

Overall, this is a well written book with solid character development from start to finish. My thanks to NetGalley for early copies of both the ebook and audiobook.

This was such a surprise hit for me!

I had such a fun time reading this and I really enjoyed the premise!! I felt that the writing was incredibly witty and loved all of the small town romance vibes!

I'm such a sucker for a single parent trope, so I loved the realistic depiction of mother hood and the moments between Hannah and River! Also this was surprisingly spicy which was such a welcome surprise.

Overall, a cutie little read! I think I would have enjoyed this more as a physical read; however, I did have a good time!

Thank you Laura Piper Lee and Netgalley for this audiobook in exchange for my honest review!

๐‘๐ž๐ฏ๐ข๐ž๐ฐ: I adored the renovation vibes and AirBnB small business aspect of this story! It was so fun seeing Hannahโ€™s journey of following her dreams. Also, as a new mom, I enjoyed the motherhood aspects as well. I felt very seen!

However, my biggest complaint was there was barely any pining or slow burn in the romance department. It wasnโ€™t even insta-love. The main focus of the book seemed to be self-discovery and self-love, which isnโ€™t a bad thing. I was just hoping for more swoon-worthy romance, especially based on the description and adorable book cover. Instead, I would classify this under womenโ€™s fiction or chick-lit.

Additionally, I didnโ€™t love the narration of the audiobook. Iโ€™m normally not very picky when it comes to narrators. Iโ€™m not sure why, but it felt a little cringy to me. Maybe it was the excessive and unnecessary profanity, but I also did not care for Hannah calling her stepfather โ€œBig Daddy.โ€

Halfway through the book, I set the speed to 2x just to get through it. I may have liked it more if I read it instead of listening to the audiobook version.

This book follows Hannah through a break up with the father of her baby.

I loved seeing Hannah finding herself outside of motherhood. I related to that feeling of getting lost in motherhood. I also really liked the aspect of trying to figure out the boundaries with with ex and a new partner.

Overall I really enjoyed this book. I laughed, I cried- I really connected to these characters.

Hannah Tate's world shatters when her boyfriend, Killian, unexpectedly reveals that instead of proposing, he's ending their relationship. Fueled by fury and heartbreak, Hannah, along with her newborn baby Bowie, seeks refuge in the mountains of Blue Ridge, Georgia, moving in with her parents. As she navigates the challenges of single motherhood, Hannah sees an opportunity to save her family from financial struggles by renovating her parents' cabin, despite its terrifying dรฉcor.

Facing the daunting task of renovation, Hannah enlists the help of River, a skilled carpenter living in the treehouse next door. River not only appreciates Hannah's business acumen but also sees her as a woman beyond the chaos in her life. As they collaborate on transforming the cabin, River's presence awakens something new within Hannah, prompting her to reconsider her dreams of a picture-perfect family and embrace a future on her terms.

Laura Piper Lee crafts a heartwarming and empowering tale, the novel explores the resilience of its protagonist, Hannah, as she navigates the unexpected turns of life, from a failed romantic proposal to the challenges of single motherhood. The narrative skillfully blends elements of romance, family dynamics, and self-discovery, creating a story that is both relatable and uplifting.

Hannah's character is portrayed with authenticity and depth. Her journey from heartbreak to empowerment is depicted with sensitivity, allowing readers to empathize with her struggles and cheer for her triumphs. The decision to move in with her parents introduces a familial dynamic that adds warmth and humour to the story, offering a realistic portrayal of the complexities of relationships.

The renovation subplot adds an engaging layer to the narrative, providing a tangible metaphor for the transformative journey Hannah undergoes. The introduction of River as the hot carpenter not only serves as a romantic interest but also contributes to Hannah's growth, highlighting themes of respect, support, and the possibility of new beginnings.

The writing style is both engaging and emotive, capturing the nuances of Hannah's emotional rollercoaster. The witty and charming dialogue enhances the character interactions, creating a sense of authenticity and relatability. The picturesque setting of Blue Ridge, Georgia, serves as a charming backdrop, enriching the story with a sense of place.

It is more than a romance; it's a story of resilience, self-discovery, and strength found in unexpected places. Kelli Tager's narration adds a compelling dimension to the audiobook, bringing the characters to life with sincerity and emotion.

Laura Piper Lee delivers a delightful and heartfelt narrative in "Hannah Tate, Beyond Repair," making it a recommended read for those seeking a combination of romance, family dynamics, and personal growth. The novel celebrates the imperfect beauty of life and the strength found within oneself when faced with the unexpected.

I loved how this included character growth for not just Hannah but a lot of the characters. It was easy to love most of them. I really enjoyed the plot and the different conflicts throughout. Hannah Tate is a mess, but arenโ€™t most of us in one way or another? A lot of self reflection on what a good life entails and on what really matters. I love how Hannah became this amazing badass with people she loves all around.

A fun romcom and just the escape that I needed. I loved Hannahโ€™s relationships with her parents and her friends, all which kept me laughing!

Hannah had just broken up with Killian, her boyfriend and father of her new baby, lost her job unlawfully, and was therefore forced to move back in with her parents. She took up the task of renovating their cabin to earn them extra income when renting, and in the process struck up a connection with River, the neighbour in the treehouse next door.

This was majorly about Hannah figuring herself out so the romance was more of a subplot. That said, I did want more from River. He had the charm and the looks, but I never really connected with him. It was more of lust than love between these two in my opinion.

Killian made an effort as the story went on, seeing his wrongs and trying to make up for it. Of course, I didn't root for him and Hannah to get back together, but I loved that he finally appreciated her.

Thank you to Netgalley and Publisher for an ALC in exchange for an honest review. I enjoyed the narration.

Hannah Tate is comfortable in her life. While boring she has all she ever wanted. Secure job (though she hated it), boyfriend (though he didn't respect her) and soon she would be a mother. She was determined to stay with her boyfriend and be a family, determined not to be like her mother.

But when her boyfriend basically breaks up with her, she looses her job, and needs help with her newborn, she finds herself living with her mother again. She rediscovers a passionate part of herself: her entrepreneurial spirit. Along the way she meets River. They help each other and along the process fall in love.

This was a pretty good story, I enjoyed the premise and it was easy to read. The characters were okay, but maybe not fully fleshed out. It did feel like there were some political themes put in around every corner, which just wasn't for me, It felt a bit out of place.

Overall, this was a fun romance and the audiobook was very well done!

Holy heartbreak! Grab the tissues, find a cozy place to settle in, fill up your drink and get ready for an emotional ride! The narration of the audiobook is so very good! The narrator really does an excellent job of bringing the hilarity, joy, sorrow, frustration and a gamut of other emotions to the surface so that you feel them all the way to your bones! The witty banter is on point, but the emotional angst will have you sniffling through the words. While it is a cute rom com, it is also a story of finding your own voice, loving yourself and standing for what you believe rather than settling to be someone else's second best choice. It is so easy to let the opinions of others get you to accept a job you hate, stay with a significant other even though they dismiss your feelings or importance or simply just keep being the one to step up for your friends when no one bothers to step up for you. Falling in love can be exhilarating, but is it really love if the other person only wants to spend time with you when it is convenient for them and not be around or reachable when you might want or need them? This book is such a wonderful entertaining read that also makes you think about how you treat others and they treat you. The characters are unique and quirky while being completely believable. I can't wait to read more books from this author or listen to them as I tend to prefer at this point.

I was captivated by Hannah Tate's journey from heartbreak to self-discovery in this heartwarming tale. After a shocking breakup with her boyfriend, Hannah, alongside her baby Bowie, retreats to her parents' cabin in the scenic Blue Ridge Mountains. In dire need of a makeover, the cabin becomes the backdrop for Hannah's newfound independence as she collaborates with River, the charming carpenter next door. Beyond her chaotic life circumstances, River's appreciation for Hannah kindles a spark of hope and attraction. Kelli Tager's emotive performance adds depth to each character, enhancing the story's complexities of motherhood, starting over, and unexpected romance. Her narration makes this story a testament to finding strength and love in the most unexpected places, making it a truly uplifting listen.

This book was ok - some parts I found pretty annoying, but the overall message and storyline was sweet.

Hannah, Hannah, Hannah. I cheered for her, I wanted to shake her, I wanted to be her friend, I wanted to investigate with her, I wanted to scream (sometimes with her, sometimes at her). I wanted to high five her for making good decisions. I wanted to be part of the crowd when she had her big moment. I wanted to see the house!! I read a lot of it snuggled up with my little one and when she talked about all the baby phases and I missed every one of them while she expounded on them. It's a good book that takes the reader through the gamut of strong emotion so this one is really a thumbs up.

I received an audio copy of this for my honest review

Our FMC is dealing with all the comes with being a new mom - except she is also dealing with a baby daddy who isn't really there for her. Until she finds an engagement ring in his boot - she talks herself up that he is finally going to propose, only to have go on a fancy date and be asked to "co-parent." Devastated she takes her newborn to her mom and step fathers house in the mountains to help them turn this old taxidermy cabin into a fantastic Airbnb. She works on her relationship with her mom, while also falling for our MMC, a gorgeous tree house living, contractor who helps her with the renovations. Can she untangle her feelings of what a perfect family is supposed to look like, to be happy with what type of family life has given her? Or will she be stuck in her ways and ruin everything?

I loved this book. It was so beautifully written and the characters were filled with nuance and depth.
I think my favorite part about this was that the author didn't keep Killian as a villain but allowed him to grow and become the father he was meant to be despite him and Hannah not getting married. I find that most of the time exes are made out to be the bad guys in books so this was very refreshing. I also really liked that Hannah's relationship with her mother slowly gets better and better throughout the story and doesn't just magically repair itself. I think it's important to show that parental relationships can be complicated and that they are never all good or all bad.
This story was so beautiful and I honestly loved everything about it.

5/5

"I am Hannah Tate, utterly beyond repair"
"Leave it to Hannah Tate, human disaster"

This book was like a fun & light hearted season of a TV show on HGTV meets Hallmark movie where the main character (Hannah in this case) is sent to live with her mother & step-father in the mountains after her boyfriend & newborn son's father breaks up with her- and thus, she ends up doing a reno project on their airbnb & falls in love with the local contractor.

The romance was very insta-lovey & steamy, however it only made up about 10ish% of the book. The focus was more of Hannah's journey of self discovery- learning to love her family dynamic exactly how it is, understanding her worth, and falling in love with herself.

Something I really loved about the book was that they didn't really paint the ex-bf/baby daddy in a bad light in the end- they acknowledged that just because two people aren't meant to be together together, doesn't mean they can't still be a family.
