Thank you to #NetGalley, #Bookouture and Carey Baldwin for the opportunity to read The Widow Bride, to be published March 11, 2024. 5/5 Stars for this dark psychological thriller. The turns and twists just kept coming until the grande finale, which was a shocker! This novel had it all — characters you liked and those you didn’t like — all of whom were definitely believable. This novel will be appreciated by anyone who reads the genre. Couldn’t get enough of it! #NetGalley #Bookouture #CareyBaldwin #TheWidowBride
The widow bride was such a captivating thriller which had me gripped from start to finish could not put it down. It was so full of twists and turns with lots of lies and deceit thrown into the mix. I loved the character development and how the story just flowed. Absolutely fantastic and will be highly recommending to everyone. Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for my advanced copy.
Oh wow! This had so many twists and turns and lies and secrets that I didn't know which was was uo hy the end of it. I loved it, really well written and certainly kept me on my toes waiting to see the next twist. Its told from multiple povs but I did lose track of who's perspective I was reading from a few times coz there are a looooot of characters and a lot going on! In saying that, once you get a feel for who's who and what ties they all have then it was just sheer chaos in the best possible way. Loved it
From the minute I saw the cover for this book, I knew it would be right up my street! So I couldn't wait to get reading it! It did not let me down. There are so many twists and turns in this book which keep you guessing. A lot of characters in this book but doesn't take you long to pick up whos who. I loved the storyline. Will definitely read more from this author.
I am always up for a good book with twists and turns and this for sure gave me that. Unfortunately there were so many characters I found myself having to go back at times to make sure I was remembering which was which. While that’s not a big problem, it just made the story feel choppy.
This is my first book of Carey Baldwin's that I have read and I am pleased I took a chance of another new author.
After Philip died, Rosalyn was devastated in losing her brother to cancer. She has made a promise to look out for, and care for his new widow Melanie whom is not coping with the loss of her husband. Everyone is then greatly surprised when Melanie starts spending time with the new neighbor Blake, who also just happens to be Roslyn's husband Ashton's best friend. Rosalyn is happy to see Melanie spending time with Blake and this initially seems to be easing her grief, Rosalyn gives the relationship her approval thinking that this may just be the lift Melanie needs. As the relationship becomes deeper Rosalyn then starts to have doubts, Blake seems to be very controlling and Melanie has lost her spark even more so than when Philip passed but she also seems fearful, what on earth is going on?
Love, even though it should be, is not always a wondrous feeling, Lies and secrets may come into play affecting our emotions deeply, what should be a wonderful time can become incredibly heartbreaking. This really is a page turner, characters you are not sure of whom to trust and a fast moving plot combine together to provide an excellent book. This really is one of those "one more chapter" reads, you want to know what is going to happen as you can't quite see where it is all leading to or how it will all end. After reading this book I will now be looking for more books from the author.
Thank you to Netgalley, the author and publisher for an advanced copy, all opinions are my own.
This is the first novel I’ve read from this author and whilst I liked this book, I didn’t love it. It’s a fast and punchy read with a great twist at the end. However I didn’t particularly like any of the characters and found on some of the chapters I had to recheck whose pining of view it was from. A good psychological thriller but not the best I’ve read so far this year. I Thank you to NetGalley, Bookouture and the author for the chance to review.
Full of twists, turns, lies and deceit, The Widow Bride is a dark psychological thriller that follows Rosalyn and her brother’s widowed wife, Melanie. When Rosalyn helps set Melanie up with handsome Blake, she didn’t realise it would all end in regret, tears and murder…
I did NOT see that ending coming!!! The twist of all twists! I couldn’t put this book down and read it in one sitting. What an unpredictable page turner! A fantastic five star read.
Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture for my advanced copy.
“Some nights when Blake held her, kissed her, touched her intimately, he’d whisper questions in her ear: Did Phillip touch you like this? Do you wish it was him in this bed with you instead of me? Are you sorry you married me?”
Wow.. just wow. The Widow Bride is a riveting and fast read, centered around Rosalyn, her widowed sister in law Melanie, and their husbands, best friends Ashton and Blake.
I have to say, this is one of my favorite thrillers so far this year. It’s suspenseful, mysterious, and takes you on a ride you don’t want to get off of, even when you’re uncomfortable. It’s full of cons, kidnappings, and presents the question – how far are you willing to go and what are you willing to believe to protect your family?
The twist was incredible.. it was so masterfully done that you don’t see it coming but the story is written in a way that it makes sense when it happens. Which is a really hard thing to pull off.
I can also say I loved the ending.. it’s not one that you would normally expect, which I find satisfying because I find the ending of a lot of thrillers are pretty standard and predictable and this one definitely veered off that path and it was something that I found to be incredibly relatable and understandable.
Slow burn with multiple story lines and lots of characters. It was almost confusing when starting a new chapter, the now vs then and trying to figure out who's perspective you were reading from. The ending had a big twist and I did not see that one coming!
Thank you to Netgalley, Bookouture, and Carey Baldwin for this eARC in exchange for an honest review.

The Widow Bride
By: Carey Baldwin
5💍💍💍💍💍
I have read several books by Baldwin, and this is my new favorite.
💍
Rosalyn has promised her brother to take care of his wife Melanie after he passes. Melanie has had a since he passed over a year ago, and Rosalyn is hoping to get her out more. One day Melanie surprises her by getting dressed up and seems to spark some interest into getting on with life.
💍
A new neighbor Blake, who is Rosalyn’s husbands’ best friend has shown an interest in Melanie. Is this a coincidence or planned? Rosalyn’s husband Ashton has known Blake since they were in college and spend a lot of time together, so he is thrilled with this possible match.

Another story-line could put this whole scenario into jeopardy! This story is one heck of a wild ride!

Out March 11 with Bookouture!
I found this a bit slow to start with but then I got into the storyline although at times it got me slightly confused.
It was a twisty read which I did enjoy but didn't really keep me on the edge of my seat
Thank you to Netgalley and Bookouture for this ARC.
What a wild ride! Initially it seemed like this book was all over the place and with characters who didn't seem like they related. But then we start to see how the characters are intertwined and things started to make more sense. At times, it was a little hard to follow, but the ending ties things up nicely. There is a lot of suspense, betrayal, and secrets packed into this. The short chapters make the story fly by. Another great thriller that I would recommend.
Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for a digital ARC in exchange for my honest review.
It was interesting to see the different points of view of the story, this adds to the suspense build up. The twists and turns were great and kept me reading.
I found this book a bit slow through out the story and quite a few different characters to keep up with. However I still enjoyed the story.
When Rosalyn sets up her deceased brother’s widow with her husbands best friend she doesn’t expect to regret it.
This book is a psychological thriller with some good twists that I didn’t predict in advance.
There are multiple POVs in multiple timelines but it’s fairly easy to keep track of what’s going on.
I’m not sure if I’ve read any other Carey Baldwin books before but I will definitely look out for them in the future.
Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC.
Thank you Bookouture and NetGalley for an early copy of The Widow Bride. The cover caught my eye immediately. I hate to say it but it was a ridiculous book especially with snakes and rats. All the characters were unlikeable especially Rosalyn. The two twists at the end were Truly Fantastic but by then it was too late for this book. Sorry to say but I was disappointed.
Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for providing this book, with my honest review below.
The Widow Bride follows Rosalyn and her sister in law Melanie in a very twisty tale of how looking into someone’s life isn’t always the same as the reality of it.
Rosalyn’s beloved brother dies after a long illness and she stays by her sister in law Melanie’s side, even going so far as to introduce her to her new husband, Blake, her husband’s friend. Rosalyn quickly comes to regret this decision, determining that Melanie is in danger and working hard, due to her commitment to her dead brother, to get her out of danger. Of course as I mentioned, things aren’t always as they appear and we follow a series of unanticipated twists that show the full breadth of that danger.
I love the twists and thought they were brilliantly done (and so many!) but I did think this book got a bit confusing between all the flashbacks and cloudiness on who they were focusing on. I would recommend this to thriller lovers who have excellent attention to detail and can become engrossed in a book, to the point of being patient with flipping back and forth to determine who we are learning more about.
Thank you to Netgallery and the publisher for this ARC. The publication date 11th March. I devoured this book as it had so many twists and turns! I found it very hard to put it down from the prologue it had me gripped as I had so many questions!
My favourite character was Roslyn's loyalty to her brother, and to her husband, I thought she was a caring person some other characters were extremely unlikeable Blake was this character!
Finally, WOW the twist at the very end!! I was NOT expecting that! It was jaw dropping. I’d highly recommend this psychological thriller if you are a fan of twisty love and deceit all mixed together!
