Full disclosure: I read this as a stand alone, so I feel like I missed out on the character development that apparently happened in the first book. That being said, I didn’t love the pacing of this story and some of the storylines felt overly forced. Well written just not a winner for me. Would round up to 3.5 stars. Thanks to NetGalley and Bantam for this advance reader copy in exchange for an honest review.
Thank you netgalley for gifting me the early ebook of The Next Mrs. Parrish. This book was one of my most anticipated releases this year and it did not disappoint! So many twists and turns, and alllll the drama. If you haven’t read The Last Mrs. Parrish, please go grab it first and then immediately get this one. I loved getting so much of the characters backstories and introductions to new ones too. Liv Constantine is so good!
I absolutely loved The Last Mrs. Parish and I was so excited to read the latest book The Next Mrs. Parish.
It was kinda slow to start, but after a few chapters it started to pick up. I wasn't able to put it down because I HAD to know what happened next.
This book made me hate Jackson and Amber ever more. I had no idea how you could do the things they did and not feel bad.
Yayyy! The b*tch we all love to hate is back and greedier than ever! When I got the approval from NetGalley for my advanced copy I literally did a happy dance and excitedly told my husband the good news. Because I've read a bajillion books in between The Last Mrs. Parrish and this one, I could not remember a single detail about the original other than I loved it and have recommended it to a whole lot of people so this was kind of like starting over for me. I was worried that it would take away from the book, but I am glad to announce that it did not!
While Amber's husband is sitting in his cell and they are getting closer to his release she is forming a plan on how to collect her millions and sail off into the sunset to live a luxurious life... without said husband. When she accidentally stumbles upon her opportunity it causes a domino affect which wrangles Jackson, Daphne (our queen), and newbie Daisy Ann into a whirlwind of cat and mouse. Who will come out on top and outsmart the other?
Ohhhh I love a domestic thriller with rich people behaving badly!!! Quite literally my favorite genre to read about and the good ones are getting harder to come by. Luckily, you can add this one to the good list!
Thank you NetGalley and Random House Publishing group for my copy!
This was such a cute read! I’m so glad I read this and the first book so close together. J loved the twists and turns and the same characters from the first book.
I tend to lean towards romcoms in the summer and thrillers in the fall but alas, when another Mrs. Parrish book is coming out, I jumped over to a thriller. I loved the first book and was so excited for the sequel. It picks up where we left off with the husband in jail, the ex-wife and their girls freed from his control and living across the county and his current wife up to her conniving ways. Until they all get thrown back together and deceits, lies, and greed all come back in full force. This was a fun, twisted, suspenseful thriller. I loved how the characters were all intertwined, how you didn’t know who to trust, how fast paced it all was and how you didn’t know how Daphne was going to get out of the mess. Lots of yelling at the book.
I absolutely love this follow up.I was on the edge of my seat the whole time and may have enjoyed it even more then the first ! A definite 5 stars so twisty!
Thank you to NetGalley and Random House Publishing Group - Ballantine | Bantam for the ARC!
"The Next Mrs. Parrish" by Liv Constantine is a gripping and intricately plotted psychological thriller that keeps readers on the edge of their seats. The story revolves around Amber Patterson, a woman determined to infiltrate the glamorous life of Daphne Parrish and usurp her place as the wife of the wealthy and handsome Jackson Parrish.
Constantine's writing is sharp and compelling, drawing readers into a world of deception, ambition, and high-stakes manipulation. The characters are well-developed, with Amber's cunning and Daphne's seemingly perfect life providing a stark contrast that drives the tension of the narrative. The plot twists are expertly crafted, delivering shocking revelations and keeping the suspense high throughout the book.
As the story unfolds through alternating perspectives, readers gain insight into the motivations and secrets of both women, adding depth and complexity to the unfolding drama. Themes of envy, power, and the facade of perfection are explored, making for a thought-provoking read.
Overall, "The Next Mrs. Parrish" is a masterfully written thriller that fans of domestic suspense will find hard to put down. Liv Constantine delivers a tale of intrigue and betrayal that captivates from the first page to the last.
Amber, the current Mrs. Parrish is wanting out of this marriage, but of course, Amber still wants to be able to maintain the lavish lifestyle she has grown accustomed to.
Jackson, who is now approaching his release from prison, is primed and ready to once again be King and take charge of his family and fortune. Putting her master-plan into action, she’s set to leave Jackson behind.
Daphne is the former Mrs. Parrish. She was able to leave and is now living far across the country from her ex-husband and father of her two children. Daphne now sees that certain situations are going to bring her and the children back into Jackson’s life, and that is the last thing she wants.
It was a fun and entertaining read, but I thought that the first book was so much better. This review was difficult to do, without giving too much away. You could read this one and a stand-alone, but it adds so much to the character content to start with The Last Mrs. Parrish. This was a three star read for me.
Thank you NetGalley, the publisher, and the author for the advanced reader's copy of this publication.
Once again Liv writes this one out of the park! She keeps you entertained throughout the novel.
After not enjoying The Last Mrs. Parrish as much as it was hyped up to be, I wasn’t sure how to feel about this sequel, but I’m happy to say that it was so much better. The characters from the last book had good character arcs and a new character, Daisy Ann, was a good addition to making this a cohesive plot.
Was I so excited when I found out there was a sequel to The Last Mrs. Parrish?!…YEP!
I loooved the first book and couldn’t wait to find out how this story continued.
There were the perfect amount of refreshers thrown in the beginning to bring me up to speed incase I didn’t remember all the details from book one. It made it easy to jump right back into these characters lives, and to meet some new ones.
I loved all the secrets, lies & revenge plots that floated around the entire time I read .
It kept things interesting and entertaining throughout the whole book, and I enjoyed all the twisty moments, and some definitely caught me by surprise.
The characters were great, some you’ll love, some you’ll hate- their personalities were so so different and I was into all their storylines. Multiple POVs in books are always a win for me so that was another little bonus.
I definitely recommend picking this one up- but read book one first!!
I was so excited for The Next Mrs. Parrish. I really enjoyed The Last Mrs. Parrish and the novella. The Next Mrs. Parrish was good but not as good as the first. I did enjoy the continuation of the story but why would Daphne go back in the first place? I was pulled into this book quickly but in the middle it slowed down for me and picked up more at the end. I felt there was a lot of repetition between the story lines being told by multiple people in different ways.
If you are going to read The Next Mrs. Parrish I recommend reading the novella first.
Thanks to NetGalley and Random House Publishing Group - Ballantine | Bantam for an ARC of The Next Mrs. Parrish for an honest review.
Looking for a quick, captivating, fun and juicy read ? A gripping well written plot line ? One where the villains get their due and the smart women hatch a plot that succeeds? This book is fun and surprising, twisty and full of surprises, while veering into the dark territory of psychological abuse especially in the presence of children, so there are uncomfortable moments - but they pass and it is back to the general storyline.
It is a dumpster fire that you simply cannot look away from! Backstabbing? Scheming? Gaslighting? The way that I hate these characters and want to yell at the
"good guys" for giving chances that shouldn't be given or at the villains for just being awful people! It is pure entertainment - rich and privileged people using their power in corrupt ways to control others. Although this is messy and none of it is ethical, you just simply cannot stop reading, watching the story unfold and wanting to know what they are going to come up with next.
Is this book only for readers who have read The Last Mrs. Parrish ? No, this works as a standalone thriller but if you want the enjoyment of seeing more of Daphne and Meredith or know more about the schemes Amber and Jackson cook up it is probably better to read them in order since this book mentions quite a few of the ways The Last Mrs. Parrish ends so that book would be spoiled if you read this one as a standalone.
It was so fun being back in the world of domestic deception in the Parrish family! While I wouldn't necessarily make the same choices Daphne did bring her kids back to the east coast for the sake of them being close to their insane father, it was certainly a fun ride to be a third party in. I liked the incorporation of new characters that were an integral part of Amber's story and how everything crumbled in her life. It's also intriguing to see that the story ends in a way that we could certainly find ourselves in this world once again in the future. I just hope Daphne gets a bit smarter this time in her actions!
Loved this second one---the ending was super satisfying. Was excellent on audio. finished in a day!
For most of this follow up to the Last Mrs Parrish I was finding the story enjoyable but I was pretty sure I was only going to rate it a 3, which in my rating system is a good book but nothing new or exciting about it. Then the last quarter of the book happened with all its twists and turns and confessions and the rating rose to a 4. An excellent follow up to an excellent book.
I love Liv Constantine’s books! I listened to The Last Mrs. Parrish on audiobook and finished in it 2 days! I was excited for this one and it didn’t disappoint! So many surprises!
What?? A sequel to The Last Mrs. Parrish?? Sign me up! Amber may have conned her way into Daphne's life, but is it really what she thought it would be? Jackson is in prison while Amber is struggling to keep up the lifestyle that she thought she would enjoy, but is she really just sitting back and waiting for Jackson to be released? Amber finds a nice little treasure that Jackson has hiding and starts her next scheme. However, on the west coast, Daphne is dealing with daughter issues and it brings her back to Bishops Harbor. Let the shenanigans begin! This sequel was just as good as The Last Mrs. Parrish. A must read for fans of twists! Thank you NetGalley and Random House Publishing for a digital arc of this title.
Thank you to PRHAudio for a #gifted ALC and to Random House Ballantine for an ARC in exchange for my honest review.
I LOVED The Last Mrs. Parrish and was so excited about this one, and it did NOT disappoint! This one brought all the drama like book one and more. Loved the multiple points of view which give you more info into what is going on. So many toxic characters with secrets and lies.
The audio was amazing and I felt like I was listening to a movie or tv show. It really brought it to life.
If you love some wild domestic psychological thriller action, do not sleep on this one! The Parrishes will take you on a wild ride!
