I loved the first book in this series - the Last Mrs Parrish, and this one did not disappoint in continuing Daphne, Jackson, and Amber’s crazy stories.
I won’t get into details in case you haven’t read the first. These character’s conniving, gaslighting, manipulative personalities are out in full force in this book — you’ll probably hate 80% of the characters if we are being honest, but you have to keep reading to see just how awful they really are and if somebody (plz anybody) will take them down a notch (or 50).
Overall, a great quick paced thriller - would be a fantastic beach/poolside read!
Thank you so much to the publisher (Random House Publishing Group - Ballantine | Bantam), NetGalley, and Liv Constantine for an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review!
Book 2 of the Mrs. Parrish series begins with Jackson behind bars for tax evasion while his lovely (cough cough) wife Amber is dutifully at home with their son Jax burning through their savings at rapid speed. Amber makes plans to leave their son Jax behind and run away before Jackson gets released, but a ghost from her past has cropped up and thrown a wrench in everything. Daphne was very content living in California with her two daughters, far away from Jackson but Tallulah misses her father and has been in contact with him through Amber. They have been feeding her a bunch of lies about why she can't see her father and why the family split up, among other things, and the pre-teen chasm between mother & daughter has grown even wider with Daphne having no idea why Tallulah is so angry with her. Daisy Ann's father was killed in a hunting "accident" years ago when he went out hunting with his new wife and she "accidentally shot him. Daisy Ann made sure she didn't inherit all that she thought she would, but she is still bent on proving that it was murder. These three women's lives will intertwine as you try to figure out who is friend and who is foe..... and who is playing who?
I will be honest. I read the first book and loved it but I really don't remember these characters at all so I had to go into it like it was a standalone. Amber and Jackson were both despicable and quite frankly evil. Daphne and Daisy Ann were both the antithesis of them. There were so many plot twists it made my head spin. If you enjoy twisty psychological thrillers then this one is perfect for you!
Wow, wow, wow. Okay, I read this book SO FAST. I could not get enough.
There were moments that made me go WTF ARE YOU DOING to several characters but I looooved this.
Out now! Thank you Random House Bantam for the copy to read and review!
I don't even know where to start with this. I wanted to scream and cry and cheer while reading this. Jackson and Amber are back and as sociopathic as ever in book 2 of the Mrs. Parrish series. You technically could read this as a standalone as there is backstory provided in the beginning of this but just do yourself a favor and start with The Last Mrs. Parrish. THEN do yourself another favor and read The First Shot because it gives the backstory as to who the hell Daisy Ann is and why she's a part of this story (when I saw her name come up around chapter 5 or 6 [Idk, I can't find my note from where she first enters the story] I was beyond excited).
I was rooting so hard for Daphne when this started. By the middle I was screaming at her to be smart. I don't have kids but I can understand the plot device of her being a mother and doing ANYthing for her kids. She kept saying "I don't believe a word Jackson says/ I don't think he's actually changed" then lets herself and her daughters back into his orbit. Yikes, sister. (again, I DO understand the reasoning and I mean, it's fiction, it has to be driven forward somehow).
I was also rooting for Daisy Ann. Amber royally f***ed up her life and she is here for revenge.
As the story progresses I was so unsure who was working with who behind who else's back. It got convoluted for sure. But when this wraps up.....HOT DAMN is it explosive. So many ups and downs throughout this book. I cannot express how much this had me on the edge of my seat and all up in my feels. The twists were twisting so hard and the thrill had my heart racing. I will shout my love for this book forever more.
(side note: I have had The Last Mrs. Parrish on my bookshelf for THREE YEARS. WHY DID I WAIT SO LONG TO READ IT. We will never know.)
I'm all for an ending that is perfectly wrapped up and served to me with a pretty bow. When we get to the last chapter of this my blood was boiling but then.... well, it was certainly sufficient (lol). Would 100% recommend this if you love a tense story with not one but two sociopaths front and center.
🎉 Happy Pub Day! 🎉
Thank you Netgalley, Random House and Liv Constantine for the ARC of the sequel to The Last Mrs. Parrish.
I questioned whether I would be able to finish this by pub day, but this was another fast paced read, so mission accomplished.
Book series can be hard in that I often find subsequent books to not be as good as the first. However, I think I liked this book more than the first!
I was glad to be able to read these books back to back. Although the authors did a good job of making sure the reader knew/remembered what happened in the first book, it was still nice to have a fresh knowledge of the characters.
To no surprise, many of the characters remain certifiable. We are also introduced to some new characters and several different storylines.
At first, I thought the narrators/plots would get confusing, but everything worked well together.
Will there be a 3rd book in the series? Only time will tell.
Really good! Quick read, engaging and good follow up from the first book. I would recommend it as a follow up book or a standalone. I appreciate the opportunity to read this book.
So, so good! I loved how this novel kept me intrigued the entire time! Although this is a sequel, I think this book could be read as a stand alone (although I also highly recommend reading The Last Mrs. Parrish because it's so good too! I read the first book four years ago and still had no problem following along. The author does a great job of making sure you are well aware of anything you need to know from book one without being redundant.
Thank you to NetGalley and Random House Publishing Group for this ARC.
The Last Mrs. Parrish is a thriller I always recommend and is one of my absolute favorite books. I think my hopes were just too high going into this one. I really enjoyed the overall plot of the book but felt like there were missed opportunities for characters to develop or do something shocking. There is a third woman, Daisy Ann, intertwined throughout and I enjoyed her part in things.
Amber remains as deceitful and manipulative as ever. I feel like she made me invested in the book, whereas Daphne really bothered me this time around. Daphne was such an intuitive character in the first book and I loved how she was always one step ahead of Jackson and Amber. I longed for that Daphne here, which made me knock this one down a star.

Thank you @netgalley and @randomhouse for an advance copy in exchange for my honest review.
Thank you, Netgalley and Random House Publishing, for allowing me the opportunity to read this eARC. Let me start out by saying this is an incredible sequel. I would highly recommend reading the first book in order to understand everything going on. I really liked reading The Last Mrs. Parrish, and this book is just as good, if not even better. This sequel keeps you engaged and sticks to the point the whole time. Liv Constantine’s writing is so captivating and intriguing that it makes you want to read more. I overall really enjoyed reading this book and would recommend it to others looking for a thriller mystery read. The twists and turns in this book are unexpected and unpredictable, which makes it a great read. 4.5/5 stars.
Daphne, Amber, and Jackson Parrish are back in this highly anticipated sequel to The Last Mrs. Parrish. With Jackson being released from prison after his tax evasion charge, Amber is back to her scheming ways and to replenish her bank account. Daphne is far away from her ex-husband and his new wife with their two girls. But, when Daphne's daughter runs away from a school field trip to try to reconnect with her Dad; Daphne is forced to make a hard decision. Does she risk her relationship with her daughter by keeping her away from her Dad or does she agree to spend the summer back in Bishops Harbor?
One thing you can count on? The Parrish's are out for revenge and they will stop at nothing to get it.
Review:
I will start off by saying that I LOVED The Last Mrs. Parrish and I LOVED The Next Mrs. Parrish too! There is just something about these characters that pull you in. It is a dumpster fire that you simply cannot look away from! The backstabbing, the scheming, the gaslighting, the way that I hate these characters and want to yell at them for giving chances that shouldn't be given or for just being awful people! It is pure entertainment of rich people that use their power in corrupt ways and to control others. And although it is messy and none of it is ethical, you just simply cannot stop reading and wanting to know what they are going to come up with next. I really enjoyed my time reading this and am so sad that it is over. BUUUUTTT, The Next Mrs. Parrish is left open for maybe a third story?!?!?!?!? And, I absolutely would not be mad at that decision in the slightest!!!!
Please check your trigger warnings on the entire series. It does contain sensitive topics.
The Next Mrs. Parrish is out today, 6/18! Go pick up your copy, you won't want to miss this one!
Thank you to NetGalley, Liv Constantine, and Random House Publishing Group for this ARC of The Next Mrs. Parrish in exchange for an honest review!
First things first, I love the “Mrs. Parrish Series! I was completely obsessed with these books! In this highly anticipated sequel, the complicated dynamic between Daphne and Amber intensifies with the arrival of the enigmatic Daisy Ann, leading to a hellish game of Cat and Mouse. Liv Constantine’s writing truly engrosses you in the plot. I highly recommend this series!
I really liked The Last Mrs. Parrish so when I found out there was going to be a sequel, I had to have it.
This was a fun and soapy read, with plenty of manipulation, backstabbing, and revenge. Daphne, Amber, and Jackson are back, along with the addition of Daisy Ann, who was introduced in the prequel novella, The First Shot (a must read if you want more detail as to how she fits into the story).
Jackson was absolutely deplorable, but I found myself kind of wanting Amber to get away with whatever heinous plot she came up with. Daphne drove me crazy with her horrible decisions, especially since she should have known better than to let her guard down around Jackson.
Overall, I really liked the conclusion of the book and series, with each person getting the ending they deserved and then some. Karma really is a bitch.
While I thought The Last Mrs. Parrish was good- The Next Mrs. Parrish was not. The writing was flat, especially the dialogue. Some of the plot points or twists didn't even really make sense... they seemed like they came out of nowhere. I enjoyed Amber's terribleness though!
Pub date for this fiery duo. I loved the last Mrs. Parrish because I quite often enjoy characters that are not likeable. I really didn't want Amber to get what she wanted but knew that she would. This follow-up shows us that she quite hasn't learned her lesson. I also like to see Daphne get a bit of redemption and Jackson well we still hate Jackson. I love a good con-artist thriller and Liv Constantine does it well.
I absolutely love these two women! Their chemistry is perfect for a scandalous summer read.
Daphne is back in Bishop's Harbor- unfortunately. Her girls miss their father and Daphne makes the decision to return for the summer. We all know this won't end well!
I read this in a day or so. It was a fast fun read. I think the characters are written perfectly and I can't wait to see what happens next. With all the mind games it's hard to tell how things will turn out!
I loved revisiting these characters in The Next Mrs. Parrish. Jackson is getting ready to be released from prison for tax evasion and his new wife,Amber, is trying to figure out how to continue with her lavish lifestyle since their money is quickly running out. Daphne, meanwhile, is happily living in California away from Jackson and Amber. However, her oldest daughter tries to runs away to go see her dad. Daphne decides that she’ll take her girls back to see their dad over the summer so that she doesn’t end up losing them. Jackson tries to convince Daphne that he is a changed man and not the abusive man he truly is. But has prison really changed him? Will he convince Daphne to take him back?
We are also introduced to a new character, Daisy Ann. It took me a while to figure out how she was going to be connected to all the other characters, but I kind of liked the direction it ended up going. Daisy’s dad happens to be Amber‘s ex-husband that she was accused of murdering.
The story was definitely a fun ride that kept me on my toes. There was so much backstabbing that I wasn’t really sure who was telling the truth and what was real.
Thanks to NetGalley and Random House Publishing Group - Ballantine | Bantam for the advance reader copy.
"The Next Mrs. Parrish" is a followup to the fantastic book "The Last Mrs. Parrish" which was a Reese's Bookclub pick. When I saw there was an ARC available for the sequel, I jumped at the chance. I loved book one, and this new one did not disappoint.
This book picks back up with Daphne and Amber. Daphne has fled to California with her two daughters, and Amber is still up to her scheming ways. The man in the middle of all of this, Jackson, is serving his time in prison for tax evasion. When Daphne's oldest daughter runs away to try to see her father (he has no custody), a series of catastrophic events begin to drop like dominos. Daphne and kids head back to Bishops Harbor to try to let her daughters have some semblance of a relationship with Jackson. Her carefully laid plans begin to unravel as Jackson and Amber join together to get what they want. Amber wants a divorce and Jackson wants Daphne, his perfect creation, back.
While the Parrishes are in a tornado of their own making, there is a new woman that enters the story named Daisy Ann. She is a very well to do socialite and entrepreneur in Texas. While she may seem off the beaten path without a connection to Amber or Daphne, as the story unfolds, the connection and sinister details become clear.
This story was so well laid out. The different POVs weaved together expertly, and I really enjoyed seeing how each of the ladies viewed the situation at hand. Each of the women are strong, independent, and fierce, but they don't all use these traits for good. For one, it will be their ultimate downfall. There are many twists, especially towards the end. As for the ending.....it was a bit of a pleasant shock. This book duet was wrapped up perfectly, and I couldn't have asked for more. Well the only thing I would ask if for book three!
Now here was a sequel I did not see coming. I LOVED The Last Mrs. Parrish by Liv Constantine when it came out back in 2017. Who didn’t love to hate Amber when she snakes her way into Daphne and Jackson Parrish’s marriage and manages to cause a divorce. Fast forward to 2024 and I’m still relieved Daphne managed to get away from her abusive relationship and escape to a new life with her daughters in California. She has no reason to ever return to Bishops Harbor until one of her daughters attempts to run away to meet with her father. I feel like I could see the writing on the wall but I was still screaming in my head when Daphne decides to take her girls back to Bishops Harbor for the summer. 🚨DANGER WILL ROBINSON!!! 🚨 WHAT could possibly go wrong? The Next Mrs. Parrish comes out on June 18th and the reviews are already higher than the original. It’s a yes from me!
I didn't read The Last Mrs. Parrish when it was getting huge praise, mostly because it just didn't seem that interesting. But when I heard that this novel was coming out, I gave it a shot.
I'll say first and foremost that the first novel didn't quite do it for me. The characters are mostly unlikeable, and the story is very similar to a novel by Frieda McFadden. I guessed the ending very quickly.
However, this book? I liked it better, mostly because the story wasn't similar to another author's work. Amber's back and more evil than ever. Daphne gets dragged back into the drama, and Jackson wants Daphne back at any cost.
Daphne is a bit of a bland character to begin with, and she makes some stupid choices that I just can't get behind.
However, we also get new character Daisy Ann, who runs a very well known jewelry line that was originally designed by her late mother. I couldn't quite understand where Daisy Ann fit into all this, but the twist ending was kind of fantastic, and really made this book into a great read.
If you haven't read the Mrs. Parrish books, please get past the first one so you can read this one. It's definitely a juicy pool read.
Thank you to Liv Constantine, Random House Publishing Group - Ballantine, and NetGallery for the advanced copy of The Next Mrs. Parrish to read and review!
I have to admit, I was apprehensive about this one after I finished The Last Mrs. Parrish. That one felt unoriginal and I had read plenty of books like it. However, the sequel lived up to my expectations.
I love the trope of someone from the main characters past coming back to enact revenge, and this book did it perfectly!
There's some good twists in this one, unlike the first one when they were all pretty predictable due to the lack of originality.
I loved the ending on this one. I was hoping that it would happen, and I am so glad that it did.
Somehow I totally missed that this book was a sequel to The Last Mrs. Parrish. However, I feel that the author does a good job rehashing the first book so that I don't feel a need to go back and read the first, though I can't help but recommend that you do so before reading this one.
That being said, I didn't love this book, but also didn't hate it. I think the parts that I got hung up on were that Amber and Jackson just seem like such horrible people – too horrible to actually exist. But I suppose there are people out there like this out there and I've just been fortunate enough to not know it or them.
I found that the secondary plot involving a jewelry designer was a bit confusing, but it did all come together in the end, tying the story up. I also felt that there were a lot of twists and turns at the end of the book, making the slower (to me!) first parts worth getting through.
If you read The Last Mrs. Parrish and enjoyed it, I do think you would enjoy The Next Mrs. Parrish. If you didn't read the first book, read it before starting this one – perfect way to justify bringing two books on your summer vacation.
I received a copy of this book from NetGalley.
