I was so excited for the sequel to this series. I went back and re read the first one. The book didn’t disappoint.
Twists and turns galore and i love the new ending and i hollered at the wins for these women standing up to the man!
Ok Ms. Liv Constantine you did it again everything you write i am going to read it! This was so good that damn sociopath Amber and crazy ass Jackson both got what they deserved but you had me towards the end when Jackson shows up at Daisyann place I was like wth but then you twisted it up i didn't see that one coming. I was like Daisyann is too smart to fall for Wads & Jacksons lies. Meridith yes! She came through love the strong Women leads in this one even though Amber was a cray cray she was no fool 🙌🏿🙌🏿 5 stars
This was a fantastic sequel to The Last Mrs Parrish. The first book in the series ended feeling complete. The happily ever after and the just desserts seemed perfect. But believe me when I tell you I was thrilled to find out we would be meeting these characters in another novel! But how could the story continue?? Jackson was gone!
Until he wasn’t. It seems money can buy you comfort even in prison. He is released early and celebrates with a party Amber throws for him. Amber found a diamond of a bargaining chip and keeps Jackson at arms length when he’s released. Jackson insists that prison gave him time to think and change. His sights are set on his daughters and his perfect Daphne.
Daphne and her daughters have been enjoying the freedom of California. Or at least, Bella and Daphne have. Tallulah has been missing her father something fierce. She’s young. But not so young that she can’t google or find information on her own. She and Amber hatch a plan for her to escape back home and see her father. When her plan is foiled, Daphne reluctantly agrees to spend the summer in Bishops Harbor with very strict boundaries and rules.
If you think Jackson is going to allow Daphne to run the show…
I was gripped. Every time I sat down to read this, I had a hard time putting it down. Thank you Liv Constantine and NetGalley for the ARC!
Whew this one was a TRIP. I’ll admit, it started a little slow for me. I wasn’t sure how we could compound on the events of the first book without it getting repetitive, but I was so happy to be proven wrong. There was more drama, more psychological manipulation, more dirty deals. The thriller vibes of this one were much higher, which is definitely something I missed in the first book. And I LOVED the addition of Daisy Ann’s character. The way it all tied up in the end was absolute perfection, with everyone getting exactly what they deserved.
I loved the first book in this series and really enjoyed this one too. Amber and Jackson are both still terrible people who are both out for revenge for various reasons. I love a good revenge story and this one was fast paced. Even though there was a lot going on, it was easy to keep up with what was happening and I didn't guess any of the twists. If you liked the first book, I'd recommend this one.
I was so excited to read this follow up to The Last Mrs. Parrish.
Domestic thrillers are my favorite, and I enjoyed the first one so much. I thought this one wasn't quite as strong -- I really loved Daphne's character but the other characters all felt like terrible people and it was hard to read about them. It also felt more unbelievable -- which I know a lot of thrillers are, but it was harder for me to suspend my disbelief in this one.
This book picks up not too long after the first one ends. The chapters are short and the narration is split between the three main characters, which made it move very quickly. I found myself sucked in right away and wanted to keep reading -- I had to know how it was all going to wrap up.
I do think it's important to read the first one before this one -- I think this could be standalone but it would be much better to have the background on the characters and context.
Thank you to NetGalley for the advanced copy of this book!
I loved this sequel to The Last Mrs Parrish. A good fun read and would love a third book in this series!
This was so good. So glad the author wrote a sequel. Really enjoyed revisiting the twisted characters and enjoyed meeting a new one. Just the thriller I needed.
Thank you to netgalley and the publisher for gifting me this book in exchange for an honest review.
Liv Constantine does it again. I was quite elated to see we were getting the pleasure of a second installment. I had so many questions after completing the first Mrs Parrish.
Goodness gracious they came through with some drama. I think everyone in trouble gets what they deserved.
I look forward to more additions to the family’.
I wonder where baby Jax and the two little sisters ended up.
Hopefully Lana has to go back to prison and obviously Jackson won’t be an I issue
Highly recommend!
Thank you NetGalley and Random House Publishing Group for an early copy of The Next Mrs. Parrish. So, so, so good!!! The cover was gorgeous and the plot EXCELLENT!!!!!! I didn’t remember much from The Last Mrs. Parrish but I didn’t need too, the story just flowed immediately!!! I never knew who was in cahoots with whom and it was so much fun to see it all unravel. This duo are fantastic authors and NEED to keep writing!!! I felt so bad for Daphne and Daisy Ann was a very tough character in the way she spoke to her husband and also her dealings. Amber was a fun character to read about. Oh this book is sooooo good, I’m so sad it ended. Lucky you who will be just starting this Terrific read.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️- this was the perfect follow up to the last Mrs. Parrish. Getting to see the characters we came to know, love, and loath from the first one was nice to see. I highly recommend reading the first one before this because a perfectly sets up everything that happens in this book. It had everything it had intrigue, gaslighting, and so many twists. You never knew what was going to happen next. Highly recommend.
I really enjoyed The Last Mrs. Parrish when I read it in 2017. It’s one of the only books I can think of that truly surprised me with its plot twist halfway through. So when I found out there was going to be a sequel, I was very intrigued, even though I couldn’t quite imagine what further story there was to tell about the existing characters.
In the first book, Daphne Parrish is happily married (or so it seems) to Jackson Parrish until her new best friend (or so it seems!!) Amber begins to have an affair with Jackson. Halfway through the book we learn that Jackson is a sociopath who abused Daphne to the point that she plotted Amber and Jackson’s affair so she and her children could escape from Jackson. The plot was more than a little over the top and far fetched at times but it was fun and surprising and great to see Daphne get revenge at the end.
The sequel picks up shortly after the first book left off, and I won’t go into too much detail because that would instantly spoil the plot, but I found it too unbelievable to enjoy right from the beginning. There’s no way Daphne would have let her girls back into contact with Jackson!
Despite the fact that I found the Amber/Daphne/Jackson storyline to be tiresome, I enjoyed the addition of a new character, Daisy Ann, and I liked that plot of this book took us to more locations than the last one. Lastly, the last 20% of this sequel was as satisfying as the ending of the first book in the series.
Bottom line is that this book will still be worth the read for fans of The Last Mrs. Parrish and readers who like their domestic thrillers extra soapy!
Oh wow, what a twisty-turny mystery! I dove into this book without reading the synopsis so I was surprised to see we pick up right where we left off in book one. I loved the addition of Daisy Ann. The new character made this book feel a little less repetitive from book one. I do have to say what really took me out of this book was the psychological warfare Jackson put Daphne through. It was so easy to fall back into that plot from book 1 and I hated it. It felt super unrealistic. Like this guy just got out of prison and can somehow gain favor from the legal system and gaslight everyone so easily. It felt way overdone from book one, and I would have liked to see something else happen with her plot. Lastly, this book felt a little drawn out. I mean it did get me to turn the page quicker because I wanted to figure out how this book ended, but I wish we had gotten to the fun twisty part sooner.
Thanks to the publisher for the ARC in return for an honest review. This book releases 6/18
This is a solid sequel to The Last Mrs Parrish. It's a thriller filled with unlikable characters and selfish motives, which was to be expected. If you were a fan of the first novel, I think you'll like this one. I enjoyed how the author weaved new characters in with the familiar and continued the story in an interesting way. Amber is just as horrible as she was the first time around and I liked seeing where this book would take her.
While I greatly enjoyed The Last Mrs. Parrish, I didn't find myself liking this sequel nearly as much as the first book. This thriller trod some well-worn paths, was fairly predictable (except for some truly ludicrous plot elements that I found more endearing than anything else), and left me feeling fine about what I'd just read but not keen to hand the book to my friends and family for a late summer read. Some of the characters feel weaker in this entry as well, with some world-record level poor decision making from Daphne and some critical lapses in judgement that made me pause and wonder if anyone in the book remembered what had happened the last time they danced this dance.
Fans of the first book will probably like this, but fans looking for that exact same spark are not guaranteed to find it here.
I loved that some of the plot twists surprised me. It was a wild read from the beginning to the end. I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
After loving the first book, I was so excited to read the next installment and be taken back to The Parrish’s world. This second book did not disappoint, each POV (Daphne, Amber, and Jackson) was intriguing, well written, and full of twists. The added storyline of Daisy Ann made this second book even better than the first! I loved the storyline, characters, and twists. Would highly recommend. Thank you NetGalley and the publishers for this ARC!
Another great novel by Liv Constantine. The characters are back in The Next Mrs. Parrish and this one keeps you on the edge of your sheet with suspense and shock. Hard to put down!!
Thank you, NetGalley, for an advanced copy of this novel!
perhaps it’s me (hi I’m the problem it’s me) who reads way too many thrillers, and perhaps it’s the domestic thriller market that’s so over saturated, but I was super bored by this one 😅😅
after reading THE LAST MRS PARRISH over four years ago (which is literally insane thanks) and not enjoying the style of writing, I didn’t have high hopes for this one. and sadly, it played out almost like a carbon copy of the original - this time with a brand new character, daisy ann. everyone is out to trick everyone and my faith in humanity drops even lower y’all 🥴
it takes a lot for a domestic thriller to surprise me these days, and this one was super predictable, especially for those who read the first of this series. jackson was just as manipulative and gaslighting as ever, and I seriously wonder why the heck doesn’t everyone set up voice memos and cameras around this guy because WHY
and heading back into the lion’s den all because your teenager is throwing a hissy fit? goodbye
all in all, it’s a twisty gut-wrenching gaslighting domestic thriller but I didn’t really find anything special about it 🤷🏼♀️
thank you to netgalley and random house for the advanced copy in exchange for an honest review!
