The Next Mrs. Parrish was a perfect sequel. I absolutely loved the ending!
Amber Parrish has a history. In The Last Mrs. Parrish, she successfully stole Jackson from Daphne, only to find out that he wasn't what she thought. She's had a baby, Jackson is in prison, and Daphne is in California with the girls.
While attending a jewelry party, she encounters someone from her past. She schemes to punish and get back at her.
Daphne comes back home from California because her oldest child is missing her Dad and making Daphne's life miserable. Jackson starts scheming to get the girls and Daphne back as Daphne was his perfect wife.
Will all the scheming work? Or will Daphne figure out how to get her girls safely back to California. And will Amber, the character we all love to hate, figure out how to escape her past, or will it all catch up with her?
Plenty of twists and turns throughout. Like I said, the ending alone is worth 5 stars!
What a wild ride! This sequel to the Last Mrs. Parrish is so close to being on par with the original. Overall a good new thriller. My two complaints would be the deus ex machina way the ending concludes, that makes it feel like it was purposely and clunking hidden from the reader. Secondly, as a southerner that Texas dialogue was a little heavy handed.
The Last Mrs. Parrish was one of my favorite reads, so I couldn't wait to get my hands on this sequel! I was lucky enough to be chosen for an ARC on NetGalley. This book did not disappoint. It kept me on my toes, and I was invested in the lives of the characters, some of which I sympathized for and some of which I despised. I absolutely loved the continuation of the stories of Amber and Daphne. Just like the first book, I didn't expect the twists and turns as the story unfolded. The ending left me smiling. If you loved the first book, I'd highly recommend checking out this sequel!
I signed up for this arc not knowing it was a sequel, and went into the book a little blind. I thought Liv Constantine did an excellent job of catching readers up to speed without having to rehash in depth what happened in the first book. I would like to read the first book at some point, but I didn't feel as though I was totally out of the water with this and grasped all events in this book right away.
I appreciated the varying points of view in this story, and while often outlandish, the drama kept me drawn in and entertained.
To be as narcissistic as Amber and Jackson are must take a lot of effort, because it made me physically angry and disgusted to read some of their actions and thoughts throughout the book!
Thank GOODNESS for amazing Daisy Ann! She is the real hero here!
Daphne was often trying to do the right thing, but I found myself saying, "WHY!?" with her quite often!
All in all, the toxicity and jaw-dropping actions taken by the characters throughout this back-stabbing drama kept me on the edge of my seat to see what they would concoct next and how this would turn out! There were many times I was sure the ending would leave me angry just to pick it up again in a future book, but all in all, I was pleasantly surprised!
Thank you Netgalley for letting me read and review this book!
After the events of the first book, I just had to know what in the world could possibly bring these characters back together. Once I started the book, I couldn't put it down. I had to see where the story went. I kept hoping Amber & Jackson would get what they had coming to them, and needed to know how it would unfold. Although I struggle with understanding why Amber does what she does, I still had to see how this story played out and whether she'd outsmart everyone and get away. This book series read to me like a Lifetime movie I can't wait to see.
Thank you Net Galley for the opportunity to read this advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.
Liv Constantine keeps the reader guessing and then guessing again with this book. The Next Mrs. Parrish is just as smart, dangerous, and vengeful in this one and you cannot take your eyes off of her. The former Mrs. Parrish also returns and stands up to her ex-husband. It’s a story of strength, resilience, and deceit. Buckle up readers!
When I read The Last Mrs. Parrish, it took over a year to complete. The beginning had me so uncomfortable that I deemed it a DNF and assumed I’d never pick it up again. Fortunately, a friend at my book club convinced me to finish it, and holy moly, it was the psychological thriller I needed. The second and what I assume to be the conclusion of the series was more fast-paced and less of a psychological thriller – but a highly entertaining read. While the story felt slightly long at times, I will wholeheartedly recommend this book to anyone who finished the first.
Quick recap without spoilers:
This sequel picks up a few years after the original story left off. All characters from the first story return and the reader is thrown into the head of each main character as the narrator jumps from person to person, introducing a few key players. The authors carefully weave breadcrumbs for the readers in this fun and engaging book.
Thank you to Netgalley and Random House Publishing Group - Ballantine for this ARC. I will post this review on my Instagram page, @onebookeachweek, on 5/13 and then again on the publishing date, 6/18. I will additionally post on Goodreads.
This sequel to the Last Mrs. Parrish was such a great read! Just when you think the two sociopaths, Amber & Jackson, can’t possibly get any more deluded, they surprise you by getting even more brazen with their plots.
You never really know what to expect with sequels, but the Constantine sisters did an amazing job continuing the stories of Daphne & Amber, with a new character, Daisy Ann, as well.
If you loved the first book, you will not be disappointed with this one!
Lastly, I want to thank NetGalley, Random House Publishing, and Lynne & Valerie Constantine for allowing me the opportunity to read & review this novel before it gets released to the general public.
I wasn’t sure how I felt starting this book. Amber and Jackson in The Last Mrs Parrish made my skin crawl and I was wanting Daphne to get her revenge in this sequel.
In this book, Daphne has decided in order to help her daughters she’ll spend the summer back on the East Coast and try to give them some closure. But chapter after chapter I was shaking my head, begging Daphne to leave. It was a bit hard to read.
Enter Daisy Ann, a new character, who brings some fresh blood.
Overall, the characters actions were pretty frustrating to read for most of the book. While the ending tried to make up for it, it didn’t fully fix the issues I found with this book.
Thank you to NetGalley, Random House and Liv Constantine for this ARC.
"The Next Mrs. Parrish" is a captivating psychological thriller that keeps readers on the edge of their seats from start to finish. With its intricate plot twists and well-developed characters, it's a page-turner you won't be able to put down. The authors, Liv Constantine, skillfully weave together suspense, manipulation, and betrayal, creating a compelling narrative that leaves readers guessing until the very end. If you're a fan of suspenseful thrillers with unexpected twists, this book is a must-read.
Daphne, Amber, and Jackson are all back into each other’s lives. After one of Daphne’s daughters runs away from home in California desperate to see Jackson, Daphne agrees to come back to Bishops Harbor. The ruthless scheming and thrilling writing is fun and keeps you engaged to find out what’s next.
Thank you NetGalley, Liv Constantine, and Random House Publishing for an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.
Well, the gang is back with the drama. I loved the Last Mrs Parish however, I felt this sequel was just not necessary. I will say that I loved the POV of each character and I was really into it in the beginning. I was looking for some more twists and excitement. The middle and end of this book just fell flat for me.
This book can be read without reading the first book. The author did a great job including what went down in the first book ( which I read ages ago).
Looks like there maybeeeee can be a third book????……..
Thanks to NetGalley for my gifted copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion and review.
The next Mrs Parrish is a fun sequel to the Last Mrs Parrish. With a new character and back story to keep things interesting, we get to see a continuation of Daphne and Ambers stories. A little slow at the start but a quick read from about 40% to the end. Solid 4 stars.
I did not expect to see a sequel to this book - and man was i excited! from the first few pages, i really had no idea where this book was going - which is exactly what a lot of thrillers are lacking! there were so many times in the book i was checking the % on my kindle because i was convinced this was the end. every twist was so great! yeah, some of the resolutions were a little unrealistic, but this is a book and it was thrilling! i really liked this book; it was hard to put down and a real page turner!
The Parrish chaos continues.....they say sequels aren't usually as good, well I liked this as much as the first.
I do recommend reading The Last Mrs. Parrish first.
Amber Jackson, & Daphne are back as the new games of manipulation begin. Jackson, just released from prison, is determined to win back ex wife Daphne. Amber just wants to get away, begin a new life and live in luxury. But who will reap the consequences? What trouble waits back in Bishop Harbor? How does Daisy Ann get tangled in the Parrish story? What secrets will be revealed?
Full of fast paced, twist and turns, this book with not disappoint.
Thank you to NetGalley, Random House Publishing Group and Liv Constantine for this ARC copy to read. I was so excited to be approved to read this one.
Was so happy to continue the saga of “Mrs. Parrish”… I have been drawn into the series since the beginning and this did not disappoint! I will be recommending to all of my reader friends!
I remember reading the first Mrs Parrish book on a beach in Mexico, absolutely devouring it in one sitting. I'm pleased to say that the same is true for the sequel. I really enjoyed this book. Is it predictable? Yes. However, I'm always okay with a predictable book if the journey is fun. And in this one the journey is SO MUCH FUN. I liked the addition of the Daisy Ann character. I will say that the ending leaves it open for a 3rd book, which I will gladly devour.
I will be recommending this to others.
Thank you to NetGalley and Random House Publishing Group- Ballantine for the ARC!
I only learned about The Last Mrs Parrish a few month ago and it's one of my five star reads. Now, the sequel, The Next Mrs Parrish, is also a five star read.
The Next Mrs Parrish picks up on where the last one left off. Amber Patterson Parrish has clawed her way up the social ladder in Bishops Harbor while her husband Jackson served his time in federal prison. Jackson is due for release soon and Amber's not ready to give up her freedom.
Across the country, Daphne Parrish is having trouble with her teenage daughter, Tallulah. When she runs away from home to try to see her father Jackson, Daphne agrees to take the girls back to Bishops Harbor.
However, Jackson has a few tricks up his sleeve for Daphne and Amber.
The sequel starts at a fast pace and had me reading all day. I love how the character development gave me an opportunity to learn more about the characters which made me care even more about how the tale ended. There are so many twists and turns that held my interest. I love a fast paced, thrilling novel and this ticked all the boxes.
Liv Constantine psychological thrillers show a new side to high society, reminding people that not everything is what it seems and The Next Mrs. Parrish will not disappoint.
This was such a good book! It had been several years since I had read "The Last Mrs. Parrish", and I was afraid that I wouldn't remember the storyline, or even the characters! Not to fear! Everything came back to me, and in a rush!! There were many red herrings and twists everywhere. There were so many deliciously nasty characters. It was one of the most fun books I have read in a long time!
Thanks to NetGalley, the publishers, and the author for an ARC of this book. This is my honest and unsolicited review.
Many readers, including me, believe that a sequel or follow up novel is never as good as the original. I started this book not expecting it to out do the first, but man was I wrong!
