OMG!!! This was so good!!! I loved all the twists and turns in it. A total must read! Liv Constantine definitely has done it again!
I received a copy of this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
I was very excited to pick this up, because I remembered loving the first book. However, I just couldn't get into this one. I think that there were too many plot points that didn't play nice together. It does wrap the narrative up pretty well, so I'm not expecting another one in the series.
4.75 stars for The Next Mrs. Parrish!
Holy. Cow. Let me preface by saying the only reason this isn’t a 5-star read for me is that throwing in a new character, Daisy Ann, threw me for a loop at first. I now realize I should’ve read The First Shot before reading this one. Nevertheless, this book was outstanding!
The Last Mrs. Parrish leaves us with Daphne taking the girls to California, Jackson waiving his parental rights, and Amber living in the Bishops Harbor house with him and their son, Jax. The Next Mrs. Parrish picks right back up in California, but things aren’t all sunshine and rainbows like we wanted for Daphne. Daphne is struggling with her girls missing their father, thus the story of Daphne traveling back to Bishops Harbor. What unfolds next is truly baffling. I was audibly gasping, saying “Oh no, no no” and “DON’T BELIEVE HIM”, from the moment Daphne arrived back to that awful house she shared with him. From there, things were twisty and so shocking, I couldn't guess a single turn (there are multiple)!
Bringing in Daisy Ann was BRILLIANT, and I loved getting another piece of this world and getting to know more about Amber, as much as I loathe her.
I will add that there are tough themes throughout this book. Parental separation, abuse, manipulation, etc. I appreciate the way that Liv Constantine approaches these conversations, through Daphne; the conversations and the way she navigates them with her children are to be admired.
Overall, this was the PERFECT wrap-up to this story. Jackson’s ending is pure perfection – IYKYK!
Thank you so so much to NetGalley, Random House Publishing Group/Ballantine/Bantam, and the authors, for this eARC! Publication date: June 18, 2024
Dear goodness! What a rollercoaster of emotions! I absolutely loved the 3 (and then 4) POV’s in this story and how it all comes together. There were so many WTF moments that I absolutely loved!
These ladies definitely know how to make me despise characters and root for the underdog. I am so glad that this sequel turned out so well! Thank you NetGallery for this amazing ARC.
Lynne and Valerie Constantine have done it again! I was thrilled to hear a sequel to The Last Mrs Parrish. Being able to learn more about Amber's past was a perfect addition to this sequel. Daphne is the perfect example of a strong woman who will go to any length for their children. The ending kept me guessing the whole time and was an incredible poetic justice.
Thanks #netgalley and #randomhouse for this ARC. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND
I am a big fan of the sister duo who write under the pen name Liv Constantine. I have to admit, though, The Next Mrs. Parrish was a bit hard to get through because two of the characters are Such Terrible People. I read The Last Mrs. Parrish and The Next Mrs. Parrish back-to-back; because of this, I really understood and remembered the characters, which was helpful because there are plenty of new characters introduced in The Next Mrs. Parrish, and this story builds off of the previous book.
I love the strong female protagonists in The Next Mrs. Parrish, and there is a certain appeal to the cunning and clever nature of the plot. However, the "cat and mouse" game, as the book jacket describes it, is filled with so much hate and mental/emotional abuse, it was almost too much for this reader. As with the previous book, the ending is satisfying, and loose ends are tied up. The lies, gaslighting, and general awfulness of the characters that we are, of course, meant to hate, is a lot to take in. That said, it is the great writing of Liv Constantine that brings these terrible characters to life at a level that made me feel so unsettled by them and their actions. I will say, comparing the two Mrs. Parrish books, Next (book #2) was less upsetting in this regard than Last (book #1).
I will continue to follow Liv Constantine and pick up any book with that author name on the cover. Thank you to NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book.
I read The Last Mrs. Parrish back in January 2021 and was so excited to see that there would be a sequel (and even more excited to be approved for the ARC!) 🤩 For those of you who read and obsessed over The Last Mrs. Parrish, this is a MUST READ sequel that kicks all the drama, manipulation and twisted escapades up 10 notches and I loved every depraved part of it ❤️🔥🤌🏼 The story is told in 3 POV’s: Daphne, Amber and the newest woman, Daisy Ann, you get a great mix of good versus evil as they fight over children, money, husbands, and whatever they want that someone else has 😝 This is such a page-turning thriller that brings back some truly awful characters and somehow they manage to be even more trouble than in the prequel. Amber is back and more devious than ever, although this time the stakes are raised even higher and with that, so are her lies and deceits. As for Jackson, he is just a pure evil sociopath period.
This is a full fledge book of cat and mouse with mind games, gas lighting and vengeance written all over it. Liv Constantine did such an amazing job crafting the perfect villains in my eyes and I was completely invested and anticipating how the events would play out.
I was super excited to get an ARC for this book and jump back into the Parrish Drama.
Having read the Last Mrs. Parrish 5 years ago, I was afraid I wouldn't remember everything and be a little lost because of that. However, that wasn't the case. While having the back story helps quite a bit, I do find you can read this book without it and be ok.
This book is a multi POV bringing back Amber and Daphne, but we also get Jackson as well as newcomer Daisy Anns POV.
It takes a hot minute to find out where Daisy fits in, but she is definitely a welcomed addition and the hero we all root for in a story filled with irredeemable characters.
The book picks up where we left off with Daphne in California, Amber up to her same old tricks, and Jackson about to get out of jail.
While it might be an unpopular opinion, I found Daphne to be just as irredeemable of a character as Amber and Jackson. The choices she makes, because she refuses to be transparent with her children, and her falling right back into Jackson web all while saying I'm smarter and stronger now was frustrating to read. This book has its fair share of twists and turns but feels more drama the suspense this time around.
As this book wraps up, the authors leave it open-ended. I can't help but wonder, do they intend to leave it thay way, or are we all in for another trip back to the Parrish drama?
Thank you to the publishers and Netgally for the ARC copy of this book.
First off, I was obsessed with the first book when it came out! I was so excited to see a second one came out. The character development really sucks you in, especially knowing their history. I loved these twists and turns - which kept me on the edge of my seat. This was one I could not put down and was sad to see end.
****Huge thanks to NetGalley, Random House Publishing Group, and the author for an ARC****
"The Next Mrs. Parrish" serves as a thrilling sequel to the beloved "The Last Mrs. Parrish," and for fans of the original, it doesn't disappoint. From the moment I secured an ARC, I was jumping with joy, eager to dive back into the world crafted by my favorite author.
While some might argue that a sequel wasn't necessary, I found myself thoroughly entertained by the twists and turns woven into this narrative. Although it didn't quite surpass the first book in my eyes, it certainly came close. What sets this sequel apart is its ability to stand alone, making it accessible to new readers while still satisfying long-time fans.
One aspect that immediately struck me was the absence of repetitive or drawn-out sections. The pacing is impeccable, keeping the tension high and the pages turning. Each twist is unpredictable and cleverly executed, leaving me on the edge of my seat and eagerly anticipating what would happen next. The ending, in particular, is deliciously satisfying, leaving me with a villainous laugh and craving for more.
I appreciated the intelligent writing and well-balanced narrative, as well as the powerful mind games that kept me guessing until the very end. The inclusion of multiple narrators added depth to the story, allowing us to see different perspectives and unravel the complexities of the plot.
For those who haven't yet delved into this series, I can't recommend it enough. Both "The Last Mrs. Parrish" and its sequel offer a level of suspense that is unmatched, making them essential reads for fans of domestic thrillers. Overall, "The Next Mrs. Parrish" is a gripping, riveting, and thoroughly satisfying read that I'll be recommending to everyone I know.
The Next Mrs. Parrish draws you in with its interesting characters and twisting storyline. I did read the first book and enjoyed the cat and mouse style writing. This book takes those characters into new depths, - of either good or evil. It is sometimes over the top but always interesting. You know that there will be plot twists, but surprisingly they were not always easy to predict. Great writing keeps the reader engaged and the story flowing. A fairly predictable end…..or is it?
Wow wow wow!! First thank you @livconstantine2 and @netgalley for giving me an advanced copy of this book. I have been waiting SINCE I FINISHED THE LAST MRS PARRISH for this sequel and it did NOT disappoint!
The twists and turns of this story were maniacal, twisted, clever, and always one step ahead of you. I ate it up! I couldn’t put this book down. It continued off the first book so perfectly and ended with the most perfect bow you can imagine.
Also - the new character Daisy Ann is a PERFECT new addition to this story line. I was a bit concerned at first when I saw her name, but she helped the story along so perfectly.
I cannot rave about this book enough. I cannot wait for my physical copy to come in the mail! I also plan on rereading The Last Mrs Parrish this year - it will not disappoint.
Amber is at it again! And she's no better than she was in the first book, The Last Mrs. Parrish. I don't know if I can say I liked her any less because she was so repelling in the first book. Man this girl drives me BONKERS!!
Anywho, between Amber and Jackson-this book makes my skin crawl. They are the worst. Worse than worst. Talk about some terrible, horrible no good very bad characters. Not only are they bad characters, their actual character as human beings are a disgrace.
Amber and Jackson are on the verge of divorce. Raising little baby boy, Jax. Jackson is in prison but about to be released. Daphne is in California with her mom, Tallulah and Bella.
I love the writing. Even if I don't LOVE the bad people, I do love the what everyone is developed and how it's so powerful to make me feel the way I do!
Against Daphne's better judgement, her and the two girls move back to Connecticut for the Summer. That's when it all really gets messy.
Stolen diamonds, back stabbing, new investigations, Jackson and Amber up to no good-and Daphne still trying to prove her worth and once again, convince the authorities she isn't crazy. Also, we're introduced to Daisy Ann, who is trying to prove Amber murdered her dad years ago.
This was a whirlwind. Fast, easy read. But just too many unlikeable main characters. They make my skin crawl. Daphne is more likable in this book. But there are so many outlandish events.
It's a fun read if you're looking for crooked lies and lots of deceit.
I am so grateful to NetGalley and Random House Publishing for this early release!! And of course the authors who I'd love to chat with over margs or coffee and pick their awesome brains on where they come up with these wild ideas!
I was so excited to read the sequel to The Last Mrs. Parrish to which I gave a 4-star review. I found the twist to be original and satisfying.
However, some stories do not need to be continued and this is one of them.
Daphne now lives in CA with her mother and her two daughters. Amber is plotting how she’ll get more money to live the life she feels she deserves and Jackson is nearing the end of his prison sentence.
When Daphne’s oldest daughter becomes depressed and acts out because she misses her dad, Daphne makes the asinine decision to return home to Bishops Harbor thinking a summer with Jackson will be the thing that is needed to cure her daughter. Why?! Why in the world, after everything she went through to get away from him in the first place, would she go back and think she would be safe? Daphne, though sweet and a genuinely good person, is extremely naïve and frankly, dumb for making that repeat trip. It’s just not believable. And, nothing that follows upon her return is surprising.
Amber is up to her old tricks, manipulating everyone she comes into contact with to get the riches and respect to which she feels entitled. And, her sense of entitlement is absolutely disgusting. You know how there are villains you love to hate? Well, Amber is not one of them. She does not possess a single redeeming quality, is not relatable in the least and cannot be satisfied no matter how much she has. I truly loathed her character which took away from my potential enjoyment of the book.
Jackson is ready to be rid of Amber and has the deluded opinion that he can get Daphne back and restore the ideal family he once had. Claiming himself a “changed man” after his stint in prison he tries his best to woo Daphne but is soon playing his mind games again. Shocker.
Daisy Ann is a new character first introduced in the prequel, The First Shot. She’s now on the scene ready to do everything she can to take Amber down and has a very good reason to despise her. I found her to be the only likeable main character. By the way, reading the prequel isn’t necessary to understanding her role in this book. A fine job is done of introducing Daisy Ann and explaining her understandable grudge with Amber.
I read TLMP back in 2018 so I honestly can’t remember much about the writing. However, I found the writing in the sequel to be pretty terrible. It’s all very superficial and mainly focused on what people are wearing, how people look, how big houses are, etc. There’s not much substance to the book. Did I find it entertaining? That’s a tricky question. And, I guess my answer would be, a little. The way the characters ultimately screw each other over is amusing but I very easily could have done without knowing how the stories of Daphne, Amber and Jackson continued after TLMP and hope their tales do not continue.
Thank you to NetGalley and everyone else involved for the ARC in exchange for an honest opinion.
One of my most anticipated reads of the year Another standout domestic thriller from Liv Constantine! Fast paced and jam packed with twists and turns, the Next Mrs. Parrish pulls you in from page one and does not let go until the end! We follow the dual paths of Amber, Daphne and Daisy Ann through their complex paths for justice and revenge the whole time wondering what the heck just happened!!! Such a good read!
This was a fun and fast paced follow up to the original story. I didn’t really think this book was necessary but it was nice to see the two main villains get what was coming to them!
I read The Last Mrs. Parrish in 2018 and it was one of those books that I just couldn't forget. I wasn't expecting there to be a follow up book, but I am thrilled that there is! This book just sucked me right in and wouldn't let go. I love the story that is being told. I love the way I really dislike some of the characters. I love the twists in the book. I love the satisfying ending.
I have read 3 books by Liv Constantine (The Last Mrs. Parrish, The Senator's Wife, and The Next Mrs. Parrish) and these sisters have quickly become one of my favorite thriller authors. I will definitely be reading more of Liv Constantine in the future.
Liv Constantine is 100% an auto-read author duo for me now!!!
I binged The Next Mrs. Parrish, The Last Shot and immediately started my ARC of The Last Mrs. Parrish and it did not disappoint! This trio should absolutely be read in order and the novella is a must read before reading the newest installment in this series.

I highly recommend not only reading this series but for those that read the first book- it is so worth finishing the storyline especially if you hated Jackson and Amber.
Thank you so so so much to the publisher for my ARC in exchange for my honest review! I cant wait to read the rest of Liv’s backlog and next books coming soon hopefully!
I read the first book, The Last Mrs. Parrish a few years ago while on vacation in Cabo and really enjoyed it. It was a fun, fast read. I was super excited when I saw this one on bookstagram that it had a sequel! I had to read it.
It’s definitely necessary to read the first one before you read the second. It was so long ago that I read it at times I felt like I was missing something because I couldn’t remember all the details from the first one.
This story was told from Daphne, Amber, and Daisy Ann’s perspectives. The dual perspectives were done well. The chapters were straight and to the point. I was slower getting into it until about 60% into it and then I really couldn’t put it down.
One cool aspect I loved was Daisy Ann in Dallas since that’s where I live. I love that she used real locations. It was actually pretty cool. 🤠
The manipulation parts involving Daphne’s kids were a little hard to read, but all in all it was a good read and I enjoyed it. I loved how it was women not giving up and standing up for what is right and taking back ownership of their lives. 💪🏼 I also liked the ending and it left on quite the cliffhanger! #TeamDaphne
The Next Mrs. Parish continues the story of Jackson, Daphne, and Amber. If you haven't read the first book, The Last Mrs. Parish, I would recommend reading it as you will be lost in the previous story lines.
I thought this book was a great sequel to the first one. As soon as I finished the first few pages, I didn't want to put the book down. There were several twists in the book that I didn't see coming. Each chapter has you constantly guessing about what will happen next.
Thank you to NetGalley and the Publisher for allowing me to read an advanced copy of the book.
