One of my first 5 star reads of 2024. This book is even better that "The Last Mrs. Parrish", which is a must read. We dive back into the world of Dafne and Amber who are both plotting on how to escape the clutched of Mr. Jackson Parrish. The 2 women are on opposite sides, per usual, with a common(ish) goal. Lot of twists and turns, some new characters and some familiar ones. Without giving too much away, I never liked a sequel as much as this one. Hands down a must read this summer!
Review will be posted on Instagram and goodreads 4/1/24.
📖 Review: The Next Mrs. Parrish by Liv Constantine
⭐️⭐️⭐️💫
Before you read this one you definitely need to read The Last Shot. I didn’t know about this one before I read the first book so I read it before the sequel and it helped fill in some gaps! Overall I enjoyed it I thought it was a bit repetitive from the first book but it kept me hooked and the ending was perfect. 👌🏽 Worth the read if you enjoyed the first book!!
I just have to say I HATE Amber and Jackson 😂 they were the team up we did not need! The plans they come up with to take down Daphne and Daisy Ann are insane. Seems the ending may be open ended for another book?! 🤔 I will wait with anticipation to find out!!
Publication Date: June 18, 2024.
Thank you @netgalley and @randomhouse for the eARC!!

🙏 Thank you to Ballantine Books, NetGalley and the author for an advanced copy of The Next Mrs. Parrish. All opinions are my own.

🎯 What I loved: I loved The Last Mrs. Parrish- especially its twisty ending and was so excited to find out that writer duo Liv Constantine had created the next chapter to the story. While most thrillers seem to follow a storyline and throw in a big twist without characters revealing too much of their scheming throughout, The Next Mrs. Parrish followed three characters as they transparently schemed against each other for the entirety of the book, so it felt a bit different because the characters revealed their motives as the story progressed instead of all at once. I loved the addition of Daisy Ann as a character and felt like she brought a lot to the story. Overall, the Next Mrs. Parrish was a solid continuation of a book that had me fully consumed when it was first released and I'm so glad the authors gave us more!
🙅♀️ What I didn't: I wouldn't recommend reading this without reading the first book in this series as it didn't feel like a standalone at all and I honestly don't think anyone who hasn't read the first book would enjoy this. Though there are definitely villains built into the story, every character had some loathsome moments, but I found I actually enjoyed not loving every character in this particular plot. Although there was a final twist in the last little bit of the book that felt like it could lead to more, I do think Daphne, Amber and Jackson's story has run its course now and was satisfied with the way things transpired toward the end.

Read if you love:
*twisty exes pitted against each other
*domestic thrillers with multiple POVs
*fairly transparent character motivations/scheming throughout

Don’t want to say too much and give anything away, but if you were a fan of the first book, you’ll definitely enjoy this one too! The new characters were a great addition .Another hit for me! Thanks for the opportunity to read!
4.5 ⭐️
Daphne has now escaped & is living with her mom and two kids in California
Jackson is in prison serving time for tax fraud evasion
Amber is still Amber, living her upscale, fancy lifestyle.
Things change when Jackson is released from prison, Amber is running low on funds and Daphne is struggling to explain to her kids why their dad isn’t involved in their life.
Told from all 3 perspectives, this story line is a WILD ONE. It’s suspenseful, complex and exciting.
I didn’t love the first book, The Last Mrs Parrish, the storyline was good but the execution lacked. However, this one delivered! That’s how you do a sequel!
Read The Last Mrs Parrish first and then on June 18th, run and add this one to your list!
A big thanks to NetGalley and Random House Publishing for my first ever ARC!
When The Last Mrs Parrish ended, Daphne had escaped to California with her girls to live a safe life. Now, Jackson and Amber have something else up their sleeves that lure her back to Bishop’s Harbor. Who will come out on top?
This was a solid follow up to the first book! I liked the addition of Daisy Ann’s character. Daphne is amazing as always.
Amber was Amber. Still the worst.
I liked how the plot was weaved with all three perspectives at once instead of following the same format as the first book. I know that Tallulah is a child and I understand her position but maaaaaan did I wish she knew the truth the whole time I was reading it.
I loved how fast paced this was. There was never a moment that felt like it was dragging and I was flying through the book to see what would happen. I never saw how the three could intertwine but I love how it all came together in the end.
And that sweet, sweet ending. So good. 4 stars! Thanks to NetGalley for an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.
3.5 stars rounded up. I was pleasantly surprised by this book. It was twisty and suspenseful and everything wrapped up nicely in the end.
When I saw I got an ARC of this book I was so excited. I loved The Last Mrs. Parrish and this book did not disappoint! The story has three narrators and each of them are easy to follow, while adding to the story. I think readers who enjoyed the first book while continue to enjoy this book, as well as new readers to the series. This book could even stand on its own (although you should read the first one). Do yourself a favor and pick this book up when it releases later this year!
I think I actually let out a scream of excitement when I saw I was approved for this book (thanks to NetGalley and Random House for the ARC in exchange for an honest review). I loved the first Mrs. Parrish novel, and this sequel did not disappoint. Amber is still living the good life with Jackson in prison. Daphne and her girls are also living the good life in California. Unfortunately, one of the Parrish daughters is desperate to get back to her father and Daphne agrees to come back to Bishop Harbor. New characters are added in this book, and it had so many twists that I think my heart stopped about 7 times. I truly couldn’t put this book down. It was so entertaining. Highly recommend!
This was my third ARC from Netgalley, and definitely the one I have been the most excited to dive into.
I enjoyed the Last Mrs Parrish and thought the twists were WILD and I was curious to find out how these sisters were going to write a continuation. I will say, it was not as good as the first book as far as unpredictable twists go. There are still a couple good ones in here though. Amber and Jackson are as insufferable as ever, and I struggled at times with the believability of this plot and how they always managed to convince people of their innocence… but the ending was satisfying AF haha. The introduction of Daisy Ann was a refreshing new plot line to follow and she ended up being my favorite character.
While not the most believable book at times, it was still a really fun and quick read. Absolutely will be talking this one up to people! Thank you a NetGalley for the chance to read it before its release date in June 😊
I had really enjoyed the first book of the series so I was excited to get a pre-release copy of this book to review thanks to NetGalley. I give this book 3 stars because while I enjoyed parts of it, some parts of it seemed so unrealistic that I was angry reading it because I kept thinking that that would just likely not happen. *spoiler* For example, the main plot of the book is that Daphne, the ex wife of Jackson Parrish decides, primarily due to “advice” from her therapist, that she needs to return to her abusive ex husband, who was also abusive to her children, because her teenage daughter is upset and Daphne is afraid she will run away. She goes on and on about how her daughters aren’t old enough to know the truth and the only possible way to keep her daughter from running away is to fly back to spend the summer with her abusive ex husband who she literally escaped from in the first book. I find it hard to believe that a therapist would suggest returning to an unsafe situation and that the mother wouldn’t be reasonable enough to let her children know it wasn’t safe but maybe spare them some of the gory details. And of course Daphne’s mother was conveniently out of town for the entire book. Honestly just aggravating that it seemed like just a way to move the plot forward and keep the series alive when there wasn’t really more of that story to tell with Daphne and Jackson. Then at the end of the book Daphne says her oldest daughter is old enough to understand as they are, yet again, escaping the abusive husband which contradicts literally everything the narrative was based on. I can’t imagine any mother returning her kids to an abusive situation just to appease a grumpy teenage daughter without just telling her the truth. I hate when authors make women and mothers out to be so irrational and naive by having first person narrative of the woman talking herself out of making rational decisions. I also think the narration of Amber’s thoughts as one of the antagonists seems shallow, like her actions show she is cunning and smart but her thoughts are all just I only want to be rich and I deserve this because I didn’t grow up rich and ill do whatever it takes to make that happen. It would have been nice to get into her mind more instead of just repeating that she thinks she deserves money and will kill for it. Despite all of this and a few other situations that I thought seemed unreasonable, I still enjoyed reading the book, and of course when justice is served in the end makes it a satisfying read.
Unfortunately this was not my favorite. I enjoyed the first book in the series enough to be curious about this one, but unfortunately it just didn’t live up to the first book in my opinion. It sort of felt like a forced continuation. There was a few “good for her” moments of feminine rage that I enjoyed but overall it was too riddled full of white rich people problems for me.
****3.5 stars rounded up.
I was super excited that this was the first book I was able to get an advanced copy of!! The Last Mrs. Parrish is one of my all time favorites, so I had extremely high hopes going in to this one.
Overall, as much as I hate to say it, I was fairly underwhelmed until the end.
I was glad the first few chapters had reminders of the previous book's plot since it was awhile since I read it, and there were little reminders of key points throughout. The characters were a bit more exaggerated than in TLMP - in a good way. There was never any question what point of view I was reading at any given time. It's always a fun cat & mouse situation with Amber, Daphne, and Jackson... and adding Daisy Ann's point of view kept me hooked throughout. I did feel like a lot was redundant and predictable...
BUT, the last 20% or so had so much back and forth, full of twists (some I saw coming, others not so much) that it was still a solid 3.5 stars for me - might have been 4-4.5 if I didn't have to compare it to the first Parrish book, dang sequels. ;)
Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.
I couldn't wait to get my hands on The Next Mrs. Parrish. If you loved The Last Mrs. Parrish, you will love this one too!
This book was full of scheming and twists and I couldn't put it down.
I was lucky enough to receive an ARC of this book and I loved it! I was nervous how it would follow up the first book of the series, but this did not disappoint! It was full of twists and turns and was pretty unpredictable. At first I wasn’t sure if the addition of Daisy Ann, but it really added a good layer of depth to the story.
Just as the first book, it was easy to root for Daphne and easy to hate Jackson but there was still plenty of unexpected events along the way!
I would definitely recommend this book!
This was a great follow up to the first book. I was on the edge of my seat several times wondering if Daphne was going to get wronged again by the evil Amber and Jackson. What a great story and very well written. I didn't think I could like Amber and Jackson any less but this book made me despise them. At one point I had to put the book down and walk away because I was so nervous for Daphne. Very well done and a great ending to this story!
The sequel I didn’t know I needed. Liv Constantine never fails to disappoint and The Next Mrs. Parrish was no exception. Daphne, Amber and Jackson are back. Amber and Jackson are more evil than ever. A new player is introduced and looking for revenge. Highly enjoyable and a total roller coaster. Don’t miss this.
Wow! Reading this book made me stressed!! The author makes such great villians in Jackson and Amber. I almost like this book better than the first. She does a great job weaving together a thriller that has you on the edge of your seat and, as mentioned, stressed! If you like the first one, you will love the second! Highly recommend!
The Last Mrs. Parrish is one of my top 5 books of all time so I was so excited to read the follow-up to that book. This one was not quite as good as the last but still had some great twists and turns. I will read any book that Liv Constantine writes and would recommend this!
3.5 stars, rounded up.
I was super excited when I saw this sequel was coming! it’s been awhile since I read the first one and was worried about remembering things, but this worked fine as a stand-alone book.
Amber and Jackson are married, have a son Jax, and are living the upper class life Amber always strived for. Jackson is finishing off his prison sentence for tax evasion when the story begins. Meanwhile, Jackson’s ex-wife Daphne, and their 2 children, are living across the country in California. For the sake of her daughters, Daphne agrees to a summer back in their old neck of the woods, so their daughters can spend some time with their father. After all, Jackson claims he’s a changed man.
I felt things started off a bit slow, but definitely picked up near the end. I feel like things were just a bit repetitive I think? there were a bunch of twists, which I always enjoy. even those I thought were repetitive though. definitely an entertaining story though, but I feel like sequels are rarely as good as the first!
thanks to NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review!
