The sequel I didn't realize I needed. Daphne gets pulled back into the world she left with just as many twists, turns, and head games as the first book.

I loved the first Mrs. Parrish and this next book was just as thrilling to read! Kept me flipping pages and engaged to the last page!

The Next Mrs. Parrish by Liv Constantine is a gripping psychological thriller filled with twists, deception, and dark secrets. The story follows Amber, a woman who meticulously schemes to insert herself into the glamorous life of Daphne Parrish, the wife of a wealthy and powerful man. As Amber’s plan unfolds, shocking truths about the Parrish family come to light, making for a tense and unpredictable ride.

Constantine’s writing is sharp and fast-paced, with alternating perspectives that keep the suspense building. The themes of envy, manipulation, and hidden lives are expertly woven into the narrative, making this a compelling read for fans of domestic thrillers. The Next Mrs. Parrish delivers a chilling exploration of ambition and the lengths people will go to get what they want.

This book was chefs kiss! So good! I couldn’t get enough of it! It was written so good. The twist and turns of this book were amazing!

I found this this to be underwhelming and not needed. I feel like the authors wanted the same fame they had with the first one and decided they HAD to write this.

Thank you Netgalley and publisher for the arc in exchange for a review!

The Next Mrs. Parrish picks up from the first book with Amber Patterson Parrish living supreme in Bishops Harbor after her husband’s tax-evasion scandal. Jackson is about to be released from prison, and Amber’s time and money are running out.

After Daphne divorced Jackson and left Bishops Harbor, she vowed never to go back, but when her daughter runs away desperate to see her dad, Daphne agrees to return for the summer.

And when a ghost from Amber’s past emerges, we’re set on a crash course of betrayal, duplicity and chaos that will have Daphne, Amber and Jackson becoming unlikely allies.

At the time of reading the first book, I remember loving it. When it came time to pick up the sequel, I could not for the life of me remember the storyline. I think because of that, I struggled to connect with this book. This was purely a me problem and not an author problem. I think readers will enjoy the sequel and being reunited with the characters from the last book. Unfortunately, for me, this just didn’t keep my attention.

Thank you to Liv Constantine, Ballantine, Random House and NetGalley for an advance electronic copy of the book for an honest review.

Another wild ride with totally despicable characters in this domestic thriller.

Didn’t get enough of Amber, Jackson, and Daphne in the first book? Well, this should satisfy the most devoted fans who were clamoring for more of this hideous trio. And, yes, I include Daphne in this characterization. Although I’m sure she’s meant to be the best of the lot, and in many ways, definitely she’s less overtly evil than the other two, she just got on my last nerves with her stupid decisions and histrionics. I don’t have much tolerance for a Daphne type who thinks they can play the game against a narcissistic and abusive man with a vendetta and a plan. And all these helpful friends who have lots of money, well that was convenient. Let’s just say, she should never have returned to Bishops Harbor. All the twists and turns and double crosses gave me whiplash. Many of the resolutions were hugely coincidental and convenient.

In any event, while hating on Amber and Jackson with a passion and hoping for them to get what’s coming to them, there was a lot of action and the pace was fast as events leapt from one location to another. The different characters narrated at various times giving the reader insight into their schemes. Anyone who enjoyed the previous book will want to find out if everyone in the story got what they deserved.

I was able to listen to the audiobook while also following along in the e-book ARC provided by the publisher. The cast of 4 did a great job voicing all the characters and added an effective amount of dramatic flair to the performances. It definitely enhanced my enjoyment of the book.

Wow.

I thought after The Last Mrs. Parrish there was no story to tell.

Surprise, Surprise Liv Constantine pops up with The Next Mrs. Parrish.
Sequels don't always land, but in this book, we get an entertaining, answer to "What else could happen?"

I loved diving back into this world of, "Rich People Behaving Badly and Greedy Grifters"
We see in the aftermath of the events of the The Last Mrs. Parrish that not much has changed with our characters.

Without spoiling much:
*Amber is still up to her greedy tendencies and Jackson hasn't changed either.
*We are introduced to a new character Daisy Ann.
*We see Daphne fight for her children.

If you enjoyed The Last Mrs. Parrish, I highly recommend The Next Mrs. Parrish. It provides the same backstabbing, gaslighting and manipulation and fantastic twists and gives a complete story to the world Daphne and Amber.

...and no, don't read The Next Mrs. Parrish as a standalone - you need to read both!

Many thanks to NetGalley, Random House Publishing Group, and the authors for an ARC of this book I enjoyed. Publication date: June 18, 2024.

What I liked about this book!

1. You know it's a book for the beach - fast paced and page turning!
2. As a sequel - it gives you enough of the first book background to remind you but doesn't do a full rehash - thank you!
3. Characters that you hate and who make you cringe every time the show up in the story - but then characters you want to cheer for and see succeed.

What I wished was different:
1. The characters are not all lovable or clearly developed but when reading a beach thriller - I don't expect that is going to happen!
2. Some suspension of disbelief which I don't think was needed with some tweaks to the story!

Many thanks to Net Galley and Random House Publishing Group/Ballantine/Bantam for sharing the ARC with me.

I really enjoyed this book! I had kind of forgotten what happened in the first book, but I think the author did a good job reminding the reader about the events of the first book, so you were never lost in the story. Amber and Jackson are two infuriating characters, but not so infuriating that they're difficult to read about. I was entertained and on the edge of my seat the whole time. I definitely recommend this book to those who enjoy thrillers and drama. Thank you to Bantam and NetGalley for this ARC!

Honestly, I wasn’t the biggest fan of the Last Mrs. Parrish, so I wasn’t super excited to read this one. I feel like as a general rule, sequels never quite live up to the hype of the first book.

However, the Next Mrs. Parrish really surprised me. I thought this book was better than the first. I kind of had to force myself to finish the first book. I found it boring and drawn out in some parts. That was not the case with this book. I found it much more intense and “thrilling”. I was constantly trying to figure out what was going on and who was up to what.

3.5 rounded up. This was a fun follow up to a book I really enjoyed. Lots of twists, unlikeable characters and a thriller all the way up until the very end, as we’ve come to expect from this author. You do need to read the first book to understand this one, and the prequel if you really want the full experience.

The Mrs Parish books are amazing!! Some of my favorites books I’ve read! This one is no different. The twists and turns? Jaw dropping!!! I recommend these books to everyone especially those just getting into reading or slump and these books captivate you from the beginning.

Meh. I liked the first Mrs. Parrish, this was fine. The perspective was interesting, but the story was predictable.

The Last Mrs. Parrish feels like one of the most popular thrillers on Bookstagram, and when I read it several years ago, I quickly determined it wasn’t for me as I felt like the story was too outlandish and repetitive. But, when I saw there was a sequel coming out, I was VERY intrigued.

My topline thoughts are that while I’m still not a huge fan of the series, I thought The Next Mrs. Parrish was better than its predecessor. Yes, the plot is just as frustrating and it feels like the same thing happens again and again, but I felt that the sequel was a better developed story. The first novel felt like it sacrificed the conclusion just to add a shock, but The Last Mrs. Parrish managed to deliver twists without neglecting the story and – no spoilers – it was nice to have a firm and concrete ending.

One note for anyone that plans to pick this one up, make sure you’ve read both The Last Mrs. Parrish and the prequel novella, The First Shot. The sequel drops you right into the action and features a major character from The First Shot, so you’ll definitely want the context to fully enjoy the story.

The Next Mrs. Parrish is out now. Thanks to Bantam and NetGalley for the eARC in exchange for an honest review.

I could not wait to get back into this world since I read the first Mrs. Parrish in one sitting. I just adore Amber, she’s cunning, confident and I love how all the stories intertwined. Absolutely adored the ending, it left me completely satisfied as a thriller reader and couldn’t have asked for more! Everything was tied up perfectly. Although it was a tad over the top, I still loved it!

After reading The Last Mrs. Parrish a few years ago, it became one of my favorite thrillers of the year and I felt that there were some really great twists and turns in that novel. You can't help but absolutely loathe both Jackson and Amber and had hoped that karma would come to bite them in the ass later on in life. I never thought 7 years later, we would be getting a sequel and get to see exactly how that karma was going to play out! And I'm really glad we do. The Last Mrs. Parrish left us with Jackson and Amber starting their lives together as a married couple with Daphne finally getting away from her toxic home.
In this sequel, we get to see that their lying and scheming has finally caught up to them. But of course, there is a lot of suspense and events that happen in order for us to get there. This book was filled with just as much gaslighting/scheming and toxicity as the first one. We also got the multiple POVs in this book as well from Jackson, Amber, Daphne, and a new character, DaisyAnn. I enjoyed this sequel so much and the ending was oh so satisfying. I couldn't help but laugh at how everything just fell in to place for our loathsome villains. There were times when the book did get a little slow, but overall, this was a very enjoyable read and a great sequel to the first book.
Please make sure to check your TWs as this book does contain some heavier topics.
Thank you to NetGalley and Random House Publishing Group - Ballantine for providing me with a eARC in exchange for my honest review.

So this book was not bad but not great. In my opinion this sequel was not needed. It was basically the same characters nursing old wounds. Nothing new and exciting happening. No new real twists and it ended as expected. I didn't hate the book. But I also think it wasn't needed. Overall just okay.

Thank you to NetGalley and Random House Publishing Group - Ballantine for the E-ARC.

All thoughts and opinions are honest and my own.
