Even though this wasn't quite as smart as the first Mrs. Parrish book, it was still a heck of a lot of fun. The first one was actually really clever and surprising in its twist, whereas this one seemed like it was going more for shock value. I also missed the novella between the books in the Parrish series, so I was maybe starting off on a back foot. But it was fun summer reading!
Great book! I do wonder though if this sequel was needed. At times it felt drawn out. I don't know. I loved the first book but this was good. But not great.
I love Liv Constantine. This book did not disappoint. I liked the first one more, but this follow-up was well written with fun twists as she always adds.
I loved the first book and was really looking forward to the sequel. While I didn’t love as much as I thought I would. It was a good way to conclude the series and close the book on all the characters. While it was appropriate to the story, I questioned the additional characters introduced and the value added.
The first book stuck with me. Like really still one of my favorites. But WHY WHY WHY write another?? Fell completely flat for me. Yes it was ok, she is great with thrillers but it felt like it was struggling for a voice because the first book was completed and not meant to have a “sequel”. Wished it was a Knives Out situation….
ARC READ THROUGH NETGALLEY. ALL OPINIONS ARE MY OWN. I wasn’t quite sure what to expect from this book because it felt like the end of The Last Mrs. Parrish tied up all the loose ends. While some parts of this did feel a little far fetched, I did still think that it was well done.
I read "The Last Mrs. Parrish" a year ago and was excited to get my hands on Liv Constantine's new sequel.
This book was just okay for me. There were moments when I really enjoyed it, but also moments were I found myself getting bored with plot and the "cat and mouse" game the characters played. Still a huge Liv Constantine fan and looking forward to reading her next release!
Thank you to Random House Publishing Group - Ballantine, Liv Constantine and #NetGalley for the ARC and opportunity to read and review this book!
I read and rated this book 3.75 stars. I feel it wrapped up the series perfectly and all loose ends were tied up. Some parts were on the slow side but one part near the end of the book I was shocked! Overall a decent book 🙂
oh my god I loved this book so much. its obvious to say I needed to read this sequel because I LOVED the first book and if you haven't read it stop what you're doing and go get the Last Mrs Parrish. Amber is such a hatable character that I needed to find out what she did next. I was confused at the introduction of a new character (Daisy Ann) and originally thought she would be the new love interest aka the Next Mrs Parrish but I was shortly proven wrong in that regard. I love Liv Constantines writing style, this book is so easy to breeze through, a perfect summer beach read
Having absolutely adored the first book, I was both excited and skeptical when I heard about the sequel. Could it possibly live up to the gripping twists, intense characters, and psychological tension that made the original such a standout? I had my doubts, but boy, was I pleasantly surprised.
From the very first page, the sequel grabs you and doesn’t let go. The narrative is just as compelling, the characters just as complex, and the twists—oh, the twists!—are every bit as jaw-dropping as in the first book. It felt like coming home to a world I was already so deeply invested in, but with fresh and exciting developments that kept me on the edge of my seat.
What I loved most about the sequel is how it built upon the foundation laid by the original, deepening the intrigue and expanding the story in unexpected ways. The authors masterfully weave suspense and emotion, keeping you guessing until the very end. I found myself devouring each chapter, eager to see where the story would lead, and it did not disappoint.
In short, if you loved "The Next Mrs. Parrish," you will absolutely love the sequel. It’s everything you could hope for and more—a thrilling continuation of a story that had already captured my heart. Highly recommended!
This one was disappointing to me. It was slow moving and once it got to the twists they weren’t jaw dropping!
This book did want me to keep reading to know how it ended . Although I didn’t find any of the characters likeable and things were dragging on . It didn’t seem like the 1st book needed a sequel.
Thank you Random House Publishing Group - Ballantine and NetGalley for providing an advance copy in exchange for an honest review
thank you netgalley for the e-arc. i remember really enjoying the last mrs parrish and was happy to hear about the next mrs parrish as a follow up. once i got enough of amber, i skimmed her chapters, she's a horrible person for whatever reasons and i didn't want to waste time in a crazy person's mind. my favorite characters were daphne and daisy, especially when they worked together in the end.
For Fans of the Last Mrs Parrish comes a sequel not to be missed. Suspenseful and moving, we follow the ‘what happened next’ . While at times the characters got on my nerves, it think that’s the point, and why this book works. Thanks NetGalley for the ARC!
This is the follow up to The Last Mrs. Parrish and it was much needed! I’m so glad that the author decided to answer our questions and give us more of the story after what happened in the previous book.
I dove into this book and kept turning the pages because I had to know what was going to happen to Amber and Daphne. I felt like all of our questions were answered and there weren’t any loose ends after finishing this one.
My overall rating of this book is 4.5⭐️.
4/5 stars. Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC! I had a hard time starting this because The Last Mrs. Parrish is one of my favorite books of all time and that pressure of will it live up to the first!? I enjoyed this book, not as much as the first, but pretty close!
The Next Mrs. Parrish, starts off where the first book left off. With a special kind of crazy. Amber Patterson Parrish has been living her best life. She is in a beautiful mansion, her young son is doing well and her husband is in prison. She finds out though, that her husband is getting out of prison and she isn’t prepared for that. Daphne Parrish, is clear across the county from her ex husband and her ex life on the east coast. Her and her daughters are thriving and there doesn’t seem to be a thing that could upset the apple cart. That is until her ex husband is getting out of jail and he wants to see his girls. He swears he is a changed man. He won’t do anything to Daphne and he promises to be on his best behavior. It doesn’t help that one of her daughters runs away to her dad. Wild things start going down.
Now Jackson is getting out of prison. He has plans, he has debts to pay and he needs to money, fast. He gets Daphne to come east, he tries to drive Amber mad and he thinks he is getting ahead. How can this play out? One can only imagine, the lengths all three will go to get what they want, save their sanity and to get out alive. This was a fast paced book. If you like the first book you will enjoy this book. But it could be read as a stand alone. Liv Constantine does a great job at writing a great car and mouse story. I was hooked from the start and couldn’t stop reading until ai saw how it needed. It did not disappoint: I want to thank Netgalley, Random House Publishing Group/Ballantine/Bantam for my copy for an honest review. It was my pleasure to read and review this book.
I couldn't wait for the sequel, and here it is - just as boring, bracingly funny, and suspenseful as the first. Liv Constantine excels at characters you love to hate, but still love to read about. Go in blind (even if you've read the first book) and prepare for a rollicking good time.
Another great read by Liv Constantine! Her books are fast reads with a excellent story. I love how it built on this from the previous book but gave the book it's own spin. This is definitely a great pool read for the summer.
Such a thrilling ride. Loved it. I devoured it in one day couldn't put it down. Recommend it to all my friends.
